演讲词的翻译原则
【摘 要】演讲，作为一门独特的语言艺术，既不同于日常的即兴谈话，也不同于纯粹的书面文体，故演讲词的翻译应遵循相应的原则。本文以林肯《葛底斯堡演说》的译文为例，分析对演讲词进行翻译时应遵循的翻译原则。

一 《葛底斯堡演说》简介
1863年11月19日，美国第十六任总统亚伯拉罕?林肯受邀在葛底斯堡国家烈士公墓落成典礼上发表演说，以哀悼在美国内战葛底斯堡战役中阵亡的将士，著名的政治演说词《葛底斯堡演说》便由此产生。这篇演说词的中译文有很多版本，在作者查阅到的资料中，就有刊于《英汉翻译教程》（1980年版）上张培基先生的译文、《翻译通讯》（1984年）上许渊冲教授的译文等。这些译文都忠实、通顺地再现了原文。然而，目前国内较多使用的还是张培基先生的译文，本文也采用这一译文进行分析。由于演讲词这一特殊的文学题材既不同于日常的即兴谈话，又不同于正式的书面文章，所以演讲词有独特的文体特点。
二 演讲词的翻译原则
《葛底斯堡演说》中作者用饱蘸真切感情之笔悼念死者，激励活者，号召人民继承先烈遗志，完成未竞事业。文章思路清晰，文气畅达。其译文的遣词用字也极为讲究。
例1，Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation，conceived in liberty，and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.译文：八十七年前，我们的先辈们在这个大陆上创立了一个新国家，它孕育于自由之中，奉行一切人生来平等的原则。
演说以“Four score and seven years ago”开头，译文对这一词组的处理很好地体现了演讲词翻译的灵活性。考虑到“Four score and seven years ago”无法在汉语语言中找到相应的表达方式，译者把这一短语译为“八十七年前”，既符合汉语的表达习惯，又清晰明了。其中，“a new nation”其后带有两个由过去分词短语充当的定语。这两个过去分词短语虽然只是定语成分，不是中心词，但它们却是作者的语意重心。译文原文中的定语成分抽出来，拆译成单独一句，能够很好地传达原文语势，突出演讲重点，既实现了翻译的灵活性，又不失原作者的语用意图。
例2，Now we are engaged in a great civil war，testing whether that nation，or any nation so conceived and so dedicated，can long endure.译文：现在我们正从事一场伟大的内战，以考验这个国家，或者说以考验任何一个孕育于自由而奉行上述原则的国家是否能够长久存在下去。
这是演说词的第2句，“so conceived and so dedicated”是“nation”一词的后置定语，译者采用增译法把其译成了汉语中的偏正结构――“孕育于自由并奉行上述原则的国家”，译文处理得完整恰当。
例3，But，in a larger sense，we cannot dedicate，we cannot consecrate，we cannot hallow，this ground.译文：但是，从更广泛的意义上来说，这块土地我们不能够奉献，我们不能够圣化，我们不能够神化。
这是演讲词的第6句，dedicate，consecrate和hallow是三个同义词，都与“this ground”搭配，在语义上和感情色彩上构成渐进，起到了加强语势的作用。译文再现了这种修辞手段，也相应地使用了三个整齐的短语结构――“不能够奉献、不能够圣化、不能够神化”；在这一句的译文处理上，译者充分考虑了演讲词原文的语式特点，将原文中的有张有弛、有起有伏的表达效果都在译文中体现了出来。
由此可见，演讲词的翻译应遵循的翻译原则应该包括：（1）完整性。完整清晰地表达原文的文字意义，并把讲演词的结构翻译得逻辑缜密。（2）清晰性。将演讲原文中通俗生动的语言在译文中也要译得通俗生动。（3）跌宕起伏。作为译者，应该将原文中的有张有弛、有起有伏的表达效果在译文中充分表现出来。（4）灵活性。不要拘泥于原文的句式，要对那些在译入语中无法再现的表达形式及修辞手段，进行灵活处理。
三 结束语
由于演讲具有独特的文体特点，所以译者在进行文本翻译时，不仅要能够将原文的文字意义进行恰当清晰的表达，还应根据原文的事件背景和语言要求，有针对性地采用恰当的翻译方法，在忠实传达原意的基础上，做到辞义并举、形神兼备，以达到最好的翻译效果。

第二篇：《原毁》文言文翻译
《原毁》选自《昌黎先生集》，是唐代文学家韩愈创作的一篇古文。此文论述和探究毁谤产生的原因，文章先从正面开导，说明一个人应该如何正确对待自己和对待别人才符合君子之德、君子之风，然后将不合这个准则的行为拿来对照，最后指出其根源及危害性。全篇行文严肃而恳切，句式整齐中有变化，语言生动而形象，刻划当时士风，可谓入木三分。以下是《原毁》文言文翻译，欢迎阅读。
原毁
古之君子，其责己也重以周，其待人也轻以约。重以周，故不怠；轻以约，故人乐为善。
闻古之人有舜者，其为人也，仁义人也。求其所以为舜者，责于己曰：“彼，人也；予，人也。彼能是，而我乃不能是！”早夜以思，去其不如舜者，就其如舜者。闻古之人有周公者，其为人也，多才与艺人也。求其所以为周公者，责于己曰：“彼，人也；予，人也。彼能是，而我乃不能是！”早夜以思，去其不如周公者，就其如周公者。舜，大圣人也，后世无及焉；周公，大圣人也，后世无及焉。是人也，乃曰：“不如舜，不如周公，吾之病也。”是不亦责于身者重以周乎！其于人也，曰：“彼人也，能有是，是足为良人矣；能善是，是足为艺人矣。”取其一，不责其二；即其新，不究其旧：恐恐然惟惧其人之不得为善之利。一善易修也，一艺易能也，其于人也，乃曰：“能有是，是亦足矣。”曰：“能善是，是亦足矣。”不亦待于人者轻以约乎？
今之君子则不然。其责人也详，其待己也廉。详，故人难于为善；廉，故自取也少。己未有善，曰：“我善是，是亦足矣。”己未有能，曰：“我能是，是亦足矣。”外以欺于人，内以欺于心，未少有得而止矣，不亦待其身者已廉乎？
其于人也，曰：“彼虽能是，其人不足称也；彼虽善是，其用不足称也。”举其一，不计其十；究其旧，不图其新：恐恐然惟惧其人之有闻也。是不亦责于人者已详乎？
夫是之谓不以众人待其身，而以圣人望于人，吾未见其尊己也。
虽然，为是者，有本有原，怠与忌之谓也。怠者不能修，而忌者畏人修。吾尝试之矣，尝试语于众曰：“某良士，某良士。”其应者，必其人之与也；不然，则其所疏远不与同其利者也；不然，则其畏也。不若是，强者必怒于言，懦者必怒于色矣。又尝语于众曰：“某非良士，某非良士。”其不应者，必其人之与也，不然，则其所疏远不与同其利者也，不然，则其畏也。不若是，强者必说于言，懦者必说于色矣。
是故事修而谤兴，德高而毁来。呜呼！士之处此世，而望名誉之光，道德之行，难已！
将有作于上者，得吾说而存之，其国家可几而理欤！
关于译文
古时候的君子，他要求自己非常严格而全面，他对待别人宽容又简约。严格并且全面，所以不怠惰；宽容又简约，所以人家都乐意做好事。听说古代的圣人舜，他的做人，是个仁义的人。探究舜所以成为圣人的道理，就责备自己说：“他是个人，我也是个人，他能这样，我却不能这样！”早晚都在思考，改掉那不如舜的行为，去做那符合舜的。听说古代的圣人周公，他的做人，是个多才多艺的人。探究他所以成为圣人的道理，就责备自己说：“他是个人，我也是个人，他能这样，我却不能这样！”早晚都在思考，改掉那不如周公的，去做那符合周公的。舜，是大圣人，后代没有能及得上他的，周公，是大圣人，后代没有能及得上他的；这些人却说：“及不上舜，及不上周公，是我的缺点。”这不就是要求自身严格而且全面吗？他对待别人，说道：“那个人啊，能有这点，这就够得上是良善的人了；能擅长这个，就算得上是有才能的人了。”肯定他一个方面，而不苛求他别的方面，论他的今天的表现，而不计较他的过去，小心谨慎地只恐怕别人得不到做好事应得的表扬。一件好事是容易做到的，一种技能是容易学得的，他对待别人，却说：“能有这样，这就够了。”又说：“能擅长这个，这就够了。”岂不是要求别人宽容又简少吗？
现在的君子可不同，他责备别人周详，他要求自己却简少。周详，所以人家难以做好事；简少，所以自己进步就少。自己没有什么优点，说：“我有这优点，这够就了。”自己没有什么才能，说：“我有这本领，这就够了。”对外欺骗别人，对己欺骗良心，还没有多少收获就止步不前，岂不是要求自身太少了吗？他们要求别人，说：“他虽然只能做这个，但他的人品不值得赞美，他虽然擅长这个，但他的才用不值得称道。”举出他一方面的欠缺不考虑他多方面的长处，只追究他的既往，不考虑他的今天，心中惶惶不安只怕别人有好的名声。岂不是责求别人太周全了吗？这就叫不用常人的标准要求自身，却用圣人的标准希望别人，我看不出他是尊重自己的啊！
虽然如此，如此做是有他的根源的，就是所谓怠惰和忌妒啊。怠惰的人不能自我修养，而忌妒的人害怕别人修身。我不止一次地试验过，曾经对大家说：“某人是贤良的人，某人是贤良的人。”那随声附和的，一定是他的同伙；否则就是和他疏远没有相同利害的人；否则，就是怕他的人。不然的话，强横的定会厉声反对，软弱的定会满脸不高兴。我又曾经试着对大家说：“某人不是贤良的人，某人不是贤良的人。”那不随声附和的人，一定是他的同伙；否则，就是和他疏远没有相同利害的；否则就是怕他的人。不这样的话，强横的定会连声赞同，软弱的定会喜形于色。因此，事业成功诋毁便随之产生；德望高了恶言就接踵而来。唉！读书人生活在当今世界上，而希求名誉的光大、德行的推广、非常难！
在位的人想有所作为，听取我的说法记在心中，那一个国家差不多可以治理好了。

第三篇：《晋文公攻原》原文及翻译
晋文公攻原①，裹十日粮，遂与大夫期十日。至原十日而原不下，击金而退，罢兵而去。士有从原中出者，曰：“原三日即下矣。”群臣左右谏曰：“夫原之食竭力尽矣，君姑待之。”公曰：“吾与士期十日，不去是亡吾信也得原失信吾不为也。”遂罢兵而去。原人闻曰：“有君如彼其信也，可无归乎？”乃降公。卫②人闻曰：“有君如彼其信也，可无从乎？”乃降公。

晋文公攻打原国，携带了十天的粮食，于是和大夫约定在十天内收兵。到达原地十天，却没有攻下原国，文公鸣金后退，收兵离开原国。有个从原国都城中出来的人说：“原国三天内就可攻下了。”群臣近侍进谏说：“原国城内粮食已经吃完了，兵力耗尽了，君主暂且等一等吧。”文公说：“我和大夫约定十天，如果不离开的话，这是失掉了我的信用。得到原国而失掉信用，我是不干的。”于是撤兵离开。原国人听到后说：“有像他那样守信用的君主，能不归顺他呢？”于是投降了晋文公。卫国人听到后说：“有像他那样守信用的君主，怎能不归顺他呢？”于是也投降了晋文公。
