My reaction to The Old Man and the Sea I have read many famous works ,but never have I made a comment on that before;not absolutely for timidity,but the respect of authors.A grant work always has its depth differ from others.Once it seems to be simple but has its own words to his meanings.That maybe the reason why almost half of essays and novels can exit in our life,leaving the poets and comments away from classic for its clear characteristics and sometimes its being used as one of communications,although poets and comments once won its own statues.A man who made a comment on The old man and The sea that the reason why iceberg can move so dignified and magnificent across the sea is that there is only one eighth iceberg above sealevel.So from the comment he told us there are seven eighth left below the sealevel,which form the significant foundation of iceberg.The time when Santiago go to and to fight against the sea is the time our human beings meeting the challenges,for the courage and the brave to conquer the sea and the desire to challenge with fierce shark.One ship,and the old man with a piece of vast sea.When big fierce marlin appeared,the old man returned in good spirits and involved in a desperate duel to the death,which,that was to say,was to conquer and back to conquer.After the victory,when the old man decided to come

experience once have learned through.Due to the sea,the old man fished on the big marlin within three days and three nights dragging.And he also was attacked by sharks.As a result,the old man just took the marlin just with head and tail and its skeleton.All flesh was gone, and the rest was just the skeleton.Just like a sheep without soul, which was at the mercy of others,but who are willing to control it?It is just a pile skeleton of no use.However,the story tells us a outstanding hero--The old man Santiago.Continuously eighty-four days without harvest, the old man was a loser in others eyes.Because as a fisherman,there was no reason for him to do so.But he could drive far away to the sea to go fishing in the eighty-fifth day.Can you forget to admire the spirits of ‘ do things that impossible ’ ?No matter harpoon,knife or short stick was all taken away by sharks,he used all means to fight back from beginning to the end.Nothing could destroy his heroic will.“I'll stay with you until I am dead”,the words are mingled with the roar of the sea and echoed in my ears from now on.Whether Is he gallant or not who fight with the enemy at the cost of his life?In my opinion,shark was the embodiment of all destructive power while the old man was the angel of justice.There is kind of destructive force exists in our life at any time,and in anyplace.As is known to us,the cycle of life is constant.The ending of the comedy is the beginning of the tragedy,while the ending of the tragedy is the return of the comedy.The fact that the old man killed that big marlin seems to be the perfect result, but it is right the reason why the old man was attacked by sharks later.That is what he deserved.A person who lives in the world always has his pursuit.No matter it is the good or the bad,regardless of the means of getting it or realizing it.Maybe best definition of victory is that you can make it.There is still a trace of the bright spot in the full text filled with tragedy.It is the kid.It is the kid who brings the old man’ s youth finds

himself finally.If everyone has a sense of innocence and childishness,then the world will no longer be the gray.When we recall the words said by the old man that people are not born for failure and a person can be destroyed but not defeated,we will know that is

the point of the subject of the text.Human being is very strange kind of animals who have courage to face death but not the failure.Is the failure really so terrible for us?Maybe the cold sea breezing with the bloody smell is the thing that we scared.We should keep in mind that compared with that old man,and compared with the children who are still struggling for their living,we are lucky enough.So what we have to do is to love our life and learn to be strong in the face of all setbacks.We are so young and we have long way to go.There may be more difficulties,frustrations and failures in the future of my life.But I am sure I can make it,overcome and conquer difficulties at the thought of the brave behavior of that old fish man brings to me.

After reading the novel The Old Man and The Sea

The novel tells a story that an old man almost sixty years went to sea and fished alone in Santiago.The old fisherman had got nothing for eighty-four days and he almost died because of hunger.However, contrary to common people`s thought, he did not give up.In the eighty-fifth day, he fished a huge marlin whose body was eighteen feet in length, 1500 pounds in weight.The fish was so large that none of the Santiago`s fisherman had had got one.The old man fight with the large marlin for 3 days without any food, water and arms, and finally killed it.But, in the back journey, lots of small sharks ate out the marlin.As a result, the old man came back Santiago with the big marlin skeleton frame.I think every reader will be deeply moved by the old fisherman as me.On the one hand, I am sympathy of his failure.On the other hand, I have a great esteem for the old man`s persistence and courage.Although he became old and failed, he still made great efforts and showed a positive attitude on failure.The novel shows us an outlook on life of striving——faced with the unconquerable nature, humans still can win in spirit.Maybe the result is failure, in the process of striving, however, we can see a man of indomitable spirit.

Book Review: The Old Man And The Sea This is a great book, mind you.How I gave opinions to that is the spirits of Santiago greatly affected me.But the author, Earnest Hemingway said if his writing is really good, then the characters can also be many other things.Santiago is a common fisherman, and he hadn't had a fish for 84 days.And this time when he left he fished a big salmon by himself.He fought the fish for 3 days and nights and finally he kills it.He called it his 'brother'.But he then had to fight the sharks and finally he gone home with a fish spine, and some fish bones.I could find his great spirits of never giving up.particularly if he jus loose the grip of the fishing pole and let the fish go, he wouldn't have any trouble, but he can stay to the end.Something I regret to tell you is that I didn't read this book very carefully, so I intend to tell you I want to read this book again and tell you what I've gained through the second-time reading.今晚睡觉前，Alex花了二十分钟草草写下此文，写作长度和速度还要加强，而且还有不少语法小错误呵，英文读后感:老人与海，读后感《英文读后感:老人与海》。自觉要求再读第二遍，值得表扬，继续努力吧！
