The Computer

Hello,everyone！I am very glad to stand here to share my speech with all of you.Well,my topic today is about computer.The computer is widely used in all phases(方面)of society.In industry, business,education, medicine, nearly all walks(过程)of life, computers have made their appearance, providing great speed and accuracy(准确)for our work.Computers have been used in the home, offices, laboratories(实验室)and research institutions, functioning as the most efficient and versatile(通用的)instruments(仪器)for calculating, sorting(分类), filing(锉磨), recording and distributing.Computers are indispensable to modern civilization.Without computers, our life and our society will undoubtedly suffer a big regression(退化).During the past five decades the computer has been rapidly advanced.Ever since the computer came into being, it has experienced the development of several generations.Early computers were of great size, and had no match for the latest electronic computers in speed and accuracy.The Latter is capable of processing the most complicated information and reaching solution to problems in a fraction(小部分)of time.At present, efforts are being made not only to bring the hardware

to perfection, but also to improve the quality of the software.With the development of the national economy, computers are no longer a luxury(奢侈品)for most of the Chinese families in cities, which has laid a solid foundation for the prosperity(繁荣)of business in computer games in recent years.And playing computer games is becoming a hot topic nowadays.Some people hold that it is bad.And others hold that it is good.However，in my opinion,playing computer games makes us more knowledgeable.Reasons are as follows.Firstly，it is clear that computer games is playing an important role in children‘s life.The games help to develop advanced thinking skills and are often played cooperatively rather than alone.The UK study concluded that simulation and adventure games-such asSim City and Roller Coaster Tycoon, where players create societies or build theme parks, developed children's strategic thinking and planning skills.Secondly，computer games are often incredible exciting and dramatic for adults.Playing computer games are not only for entertainment but also bringing lots of meaningful information which they need.And more often than not, playing computer games is regarded as a way of getting away from high-pressure and unhappiness.All in all,If one plays computer games properly in his spare time, computer games can be an

excellent source of joy.For example, something impossible in your real life can be realized in the computer games.Every coin has two sides.If one plays computer games excessively, it may affect his eyesight and study.In a word, we must grasp the positive effects and make full use of them.That is all.Thank you!
