美国高校的远程教育（节选）

目前，远程教育已经成为美国高等教育的重要组成部分，是其培养各类人才的重要形式和终身教育体系的主要标志。

最新的一项调查表明：美国有44％的高等学校向全社会提供各类远程教育，接受远程高等教育的学生约占全日制在校学生的32％，此外还有21％的高等学校计划在今后3年内开展远程教育。

公立高等学校占据美国远程高等教育的主导地位。现有的1580所开展远程教育的高等学校中，2年制和4年制公立高等学校开展远程教育的比例分别达到72％和79％，比私立2年制和4年制高等学校分别高出近66％和57％。

学历学位教育是美国高校远程教育的主要形式。现有的163.2万多名远程教育注册学生中，有134.3万多人攻读学历或学位课程。学历、学位课程种类达到4.9万个，基本覆盖了美国高等学校的所有学科和专业，学生可以通过远程教育修完所有课程并获得相应的学位或学历。

网络技术日益成为美国高校开展远程教育的主要手段。1998学年，以网络技术为主要手段开展远程教育的高校达60％左右，比1995学年增长了近3倍。此外还有约60％的高校，计划在今后3年内开始利用网络技术开展远程教育。

接受远程教育学生与普通在校学生学费标准基本相同。

为满足社会对高素质人才的需求，近年来美国高校远程教育课程建设快速发展。达到5.4万种。其中本科课程3.5万种，研究生课程1.4万种，非学历学位课程5000种。其主要课程有：英语和人文科学类课程，占总数的30％，商务与管理类课程占总数的16％，健康保健类课程占总数的10％，物理和生命科学类课程占总数的4％，数学类课程占总数的3％，教育类课程占总数的10％，计算机科学课程占总数的5％，工程类课程占总数的8％，农业和自然资源类课程占总数的1％，高校图书与情报学类课程占总数的1％，职业技术教育类课程占总数的12％。
