专家点评:引用文学大师的诗句作为开场白，与结束语首尾呼应，颇有感染力。东西方文化的融合表现得十分鲜明，意味深长，是篇优秀的演讲。crossing the sea good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.the title of my speech today is crossing the sea.an english poet by the name of rudyard kipling once wrote in his poem we and they: all the people like us are we and everyone else is they we live over the sea while they live over the way we eat pork and beef with cowhorn-handled knives they who gobble their rice off a leaf are horrified out of their lives.when these lines first caught my eyes, i was shocked-how could two peoples remain so isolated and ignorant of each other in the past? todays society, of course, is an entirely different picture.those people who used to eat with cowhorn-handled knives might be very skillful in using chopsticks, and those people who used to gobble their rice might be as well have taken to fish and chips.indeed, just take china as an example: our modern life has been influenced by western style of living in so many ways that its no longer surprising to see teenagers going crazy about rock-and-roll, whole families dining out at mcdonalds and even rather elderly people dressed in apple jeans.however, these are only some expressions of the cultural changes taking place in our society today.what is really going on is a subtle but significant restructuring of the nations mentality.just look around.it is therefore evident that we as descendants of an ancient eastern civilization are already living under strong inf1uence of the western culture.but it is not only in china that we find the incorporation of the two cultures.take the chinese acupuncture as another example: this traditional treatment of diseases is finally finding its way to the west and hence the underlying notion that illness is resulted from the imbalance between yin and yang within the body--an idea which would strike any westerner as incredible in the past!smaller and smaller.therefore, it is our sacred responsibility to promote the cultural exchanges and hence the mutual understanding between china and the rest of the world.it is my happiest dream that the new generation of chinese will not only grow up drinking coca-cola and watching hollywood, but also be blessed with the far-reaching benefits of multiple cultures;benefits that our forefathers had never, ever dreamed of.to end my speech, i would like to quote rudyard kipling again: all the people like us are we and everyone else is they but once you cross over the sea you will end by looking on we as only a sort of they thank you.译文:穿越海洋

英国诗人罗得雅德·吉卜林曾写过一首诗，名叫《我们与他们》，其中写道: 像我们的人是我们

第一次读到这首诗，我很震惊——过去两个民族何以如此疏离、彼此陌生?当然今日的社会呈现出完全不同的情景:那些过去吃米饭的人们也开始喜欢吃鱼和薯条。的确如此，就拿中国来说，西方的生活方式已经广泛地影响了我们的现代生活，以致对于年轻人对摇滚乐着迷，全家去吃麦当劳，老年人穿苹果牌牛仔裤，大家都已习以为常。

然而，这不过是我们当今社会中所发生的文化变迁的表面现象而已，真正发生的却是我们的民族心理开始了微妙而又有重大意义的重建，大家只要看看周围就会清楚。

不久以前，大学生还只是束手空坐，等待政府给他们分配工作;如今，又有多少大学生正在做充分准备，为争取任何工作机会而激烈角逐? 20年前年轻人还完全依靠父母为他们安排未来，今天又有多少年轻人在急切地寻求一种独立的生活?试问今天参加演讲比赛的诸位，谁不是带着志在一搏的心情来到这里?谁不是铁下心来赢得这场比赛以实现自我?如今年轻人毫无顾忌地宣泄情感当众亲吻，我确信，倘若孔

子在世，他必被吓坏。

很明显，我们这些东方古老文明的后裔们早已生活在西方文化的强烈影响之下，然而出现这种异质文化合流的现象不止是在中国。以美国为例，20世纪80年代，面对来自日本的强大竞争压力，许多美国公司如福特公司开始采用对手的集体合作管理方式，而这种方式正是东方文化核心之精华。

再以中华针灸为例，这种传统的医疗方法以及这种疗法的依据——即人体阴阳失调导致疾病最终得到西方社会的承认，而在过去，西方人还认为这是无稽之谈。

女士们，先生们，我们恰逢一个伟大的时代:全球经济一体化、信息革命使得世界各种文化联系比以往更加紧密;我们恰逢一个特殊的年代:无论是东方国家还是西方国家都意识到自身急需调整传统价值。与此同时，我们正生活在发展的关键时刻:种族冲突，地区动荡正越来越威胁着整个人类的和平与幸福。如何对待这一时代，拥抱更加灿烂的未来，我们需要学会在越来越小的世界大家庭中更加和睦地生活。

亲爱的同学们，我们掌握英语，得以了解西方文化，与此同时，又不失本民族的文化特征。因此，促进中国与世界的文化交流与相互理解是我们神圣的责任。

我有一个美好的梦想，我梦想中国的年轻一代不仅仅在喝可口可乐、看好莱坞影片中成长，而且还受益于我们的父辈所从未梦想过的多元文化所带来的深远影响。

第二篇：英语演讲比赛

中国传媒大学政法学院第二届法律英语比赛竞赛规则

一、目的2009年中国传媒大学政治与法律学院法律系成功举办了首届法律英语比赛，并从中推荐了四位优秀选手参加第二届全国法律英语比赛，取得了论文比赛一等奖和二等奖各一名、两名演讲比赛二等奖的优异成绩。为了进一步提高其我系学生的法律英语写作和演讲水平，为第三届全国高校法律英语大赛选拔优秀选手，特举办法律系第二届法律英语比赛。

二、参赛对象

法律系全体本科生和研究生

三、评审委员会

本比赛设评审委员会，由王四新教授担任主席，郑宁、刘文杰、何勇、戚春华、彭珂老师担任评审委员会委员。评审委员会的评审遵循公开、公平、公正原则。

四、比赛要求

本比赛分为法律英语论文比赛和法律英语演讲比赛，两项比赛可以同时参加。

1．法律英语论文大赛要求：

（1）选题有一定的理论价值和现实意义，可以是原创论文或调研报告；

（2）论证层次清晰，分析较为深入，研究方法合理、文字规范流畅，注释规范；

（3）字数在5000单词以内；

（4）一旦发现抄袭、剽窃行为，将取消参赛资格。

2．法律英语演讲比赛要求：

（1）选题较为新颖，具有现实价值；

（2）演讲稿规范；

（3）论证清晰，表达流畅，富有感染力和表现力。

（4）时间为5分钟。

演讲结束后参赛选手需当场回答评委提出的一至二个问题。

五、比赛安排

1．7月18日-7月23日，填写报名表（英文），报名表包括个人信息、选择参赛的种类、参赛题目、选题意义、写作计划、写作提纲、参考资料等内容。评审委员会将指派教师对报名的选手进行专门指导，并举行专门的培训讲座；

2．8月20日，提交论文或演讲稿的定稿；

3．9月8日，公布法律英语论文比赛评选结果，共设：

一等奖1名

二等奖2名

三等奖3名

获奖者均可获得荣誉证书和精美礼品，优秀者将被推荐参加全国比赛，参

赛费用由法律系承担。

4．9月15日下午，举行演讲比赛，并公布评选结果，共设：

一等奖1名

二等奖2名

附第三届全国高校法律英语大赛介绍

全国高校法律英语大赛已经在北京第二外国语学院成功举办了两届（2008年、2009年）。比赛期间，来自全国近200所高校的近500名法律专业本科生和研究生聚集北京二外，交流法律思想，切磋英语技能，传递学术友谊。大赛以“用英语表达你的法律观点”为主题，本着促进中外法律文化交流与融通、检验我国法律英语教学水平、推动国内高校法科学生法律英语学习的宗旨，由北京第二外国语学院法政学院发起并具体组织实施。历届比赛都得到国内高校法律院系的积极响应和大力支持，很多学校高度重视，在参加决赛之前还组织了本校预选赛，大赛的举办对国内高校法律英语的学习起到积极的促进作用。《检察日报》主办的《法学院》专刊在2008年5月8日第3期以“法律英语进行时”为题，用两个整版对全国首届高校法律英语大赛进行了专题报道，报道称：“首届全国法律英语大赛”引发高校法律英语热。大赛也得到国家有关部门的高度评价，国家法制局原局长孙琬钟先生亲临现场，对首届高校法律英语大赛的举办表示祝贺并参加颁奖，同时期望法律英语大赛越办越好。

在总结两届法律英语大赛经验，并征询有关法律英语领域专家学者的意见和建议基础上，今年将举办全国高校第三届法律英语大赛。本届大赛由北京第二外国语学院法政学院、法律英语证书（LEC）全国统一考试委员会和法律出版社联合主办，大赛的主题不变、形式不变。参赛获奖论文将由有关出版社择优出版（此前两次大赛的优秀论文已如期出版）。参赛获奖演讲辞将择优在《二十一世纪英文报》上予以刊登或摘登。在演讲决赛阶段的比赛结束后，将一并

举办论文比赛和演讲比赛的颁奖仪式。组委会将邀请中央电视台、北京电视台、《法制日报》、《检察日报》、《人民法院报》、《法制晚报》、《二十一世纪英文报》以及有关网站的记者进行现场采访和报道。

论文大赛设一等奖10名、二等奖20名、三等奖30名、优秀论文奖若干名。评委由北京第二外国语学院法政学院和其他有关院校的法律英语专家与部分外国专家组成，实行匿名评审，每篇论文由三位专家独立分别打分，最后分数由组委会加权平均核定。

演讲比赛分为预赛和决赛两个阶段，均在北京第二外国语学院现场进行。演讲题目自定，时间为5分钟左右，演讲结束后参赛选手需当场回答评委提出的一至二个问题，然后由评委分别当场打分，并在去掉最高分和最低分后核定选手的总得分。演讲大赛设一等奖5名，二等奖10名，三等奖20名，优秀奖若干名。评委由组委会聘请中国社科院和国内知名院校的法律英语专家及外籍人士组成。

同时，大赛组委会根据各参赛院校的参赛组织情况设最佳组织奖5名。

Today I’m going to talk about discover yourself.Ever since the accelerated development of human civilization, perpetual scientific discovery of nature have companied mankind all along the journey.It was by discovering the around us that human beings have been able to live a more sophisticated life.However, as G.K.Chesterton once said “one may understand the cosmos, but never the ego, the self is more distance than any star.Thus, a life is a journey of unrelenting offers to discover more of ourselves.When I was six, I constantly picture myself as an elegant and skilled pianist rendering Xiao Bang’s nocturnal beautifully on the stage, receiving award and applause after my performance.However, as I further my piano lessons, it was hard to be oblivious of my non-gifted skills.Sometimes I couldn’t help but have this feeling of despair, when I woke up to the reality and discover that my goal was unrealistic.Brutal but real.It was the first time;I had discovered that I couldn’t have it at all, when I was twelve.I thought the coolest job in the entire universe was to be a surgeon.I spent hours and hours watching the drama Grey's Anatomy and couldn’t help falling in love with the kind of live those doctor lead on the scream.I was utterly mesmerized by the scalpel and all those fancy medical terms that use.However, I stop to dream about being a surgeon when I discover that it was the idea of being a surgeon that appeal to me, not what it truly was.As a result, the dream ended and I discovered some more about myself.This year, I turned sixteen and I could proudly say I do not dream to be, but ascertain to peruse being a lower in the future.Since junior high school I had always been awarded the most eloquent debater in every single debater participated in.I can not only think logically, but also deliver my thought promptly.My huge interest in philosophy also acts my reason in whenever I tried to argue with something equivocal.Being aware of the obstacles and the hardships on the way becoming a great lawyer never panics me, for the simple reason that I have this faith and passion in what I am aspiring after.G.K.Chesterton was absolutely correct;the most complicated part of comprehending the world is the study of somehow smaller world, ourselves.I subsequently realized that growing up is a process that discover yourselves.We got to know what we truly are and become who we dream to be.As we shape ourselves and as we shape of our lives.We gradually become more aware of limits and potentials, and consequently learn to adjust learn what’s out there, and by that ladies and gentlemen I’m proud to say that I have discovered part of myself, sue to discovering today and definitely a lot more in the future.I would always keep this in embedded in my heart.Things do not change, we do!

Good morning，judges, teachers and follow students.Today I would like to share with you my great wish.but first, please allow[ə'lau] me to take you back in time to the year 1955, the setting, Montgomery [ məntgʌməri ], Alabama [ æləbæmə ], the United States of America.It started out as an ordinary ['ɔ:dinəri,-neri-] December afternoon.42 year-old African American Rosa Parks boarded ['bɔ:did] a bus and sat down in the front row.She thought over, the days and friends, her child at home, and how she enjoyed her simple life.She was content, but when she thought about the prejudice['predʒudis] and discrimination[dis,krimi'neiʃən] that she had to face everyday, she felt a mends pain.How she wished to live in the world of true harmony ['hɑ:məni]!“Ehen, ehen(咳嗽声)”, Rosa was startle ['stɑ:tl] to see a white man standing beside her.He was starring at her coldly ['kəuldli], but she managed ['mænidʒd] to smile and ask politely [pə'laitli]: “May I help you sir?” “Get out of the seat!” the man snarled [sna:rld] back.“Excuse me?” Rosa was shocked.[ʃɔkt] What right did the man have to speak to her in such a cruel ['kru:əl]tone? Just because her skin was dark colored and his was fair.And as equals： ['ikwəl], he certainly ['sə:tənli] didn't have any right to order her out of the seat, or did he? Well, surprisingly, in 1955, lots like Rosa Parks did not have as many rights as whites.Due to racial['reiʃəl] discrimination, Rosa’s refusal [ri'fju:zəl] to give up her seat to a white man, led to a call to the police, and she was arrested [ə'rest] jailed and convicted[kən'vikt] a violating ['vaiəleit] segregation[,segri'geiʃən] laws.But Rosa did not surrender[sə'rendə] to prejudice, instead[in'sted] she chose to fight discrimination and work alongside thousands of others for her wish to rid [rid] the world of racism ['reisizəm].And now, half a century['sentʃuri] later, we are still fighting for the same wish.Traces of discrimination have gradually['grædjuəli] disappeared [,disə'piə], but prejudice lives on.I too, share the wish of Rosa Parks, but I too, wish that prejudice comes to an end.And my friends, prejudice will come to an end if we all work together as a whole.Let us not judge others by their skin color or appearance：[ə'pirəns], but rather by their content of their character ['kæriktə].Let us learn to enjoy different cultures and then we’ll enjoy a world of diversity.I wish to look around on a lonely day, and see a blending of colors.Harmony, traveling among people of all skin colors.
