Tradition has it that many, many years ago, there lived on the Yellow River a river god known as He Bo.One day ,He Bo stood on the riverbank and watched the turbulent waves from the west surging forward to the east.He said both excitedly and conceitedly:“How big the Yellow River is!No other river on earth can compare with it.And therefore I am the greatest river god.”

One man said to him,“You are wrong. There is a place to the east of the Yellow Rivers called the North Sea.The North Sea is really big.”He Bo said,“I don't believe it.Big as the North Sea is, can it be bigger than Yellow River?”The man said,“Should the water of several Yellow River flow into the North sea,it could not fill the North Sea,let alone one Yellow River.”

He Bo said obstinately,“I don't believe it,for I have never been to the North Sea.”

Having no alternative, the man said,“You will not be able to” understand what I mean until you have a chance to see the North Sea for yourself.“

Winter came, and torrential rain had been falling for days on end.Rivers big and small emptied themselves into the Yellow River, making the Yellow River even

broader.Standing on one side of the river, people could hardly tell what animals the oxen and horses on the other side of the river were. Thus He Bo was even more proud, thinking that

all

the

magnificent

sights

were

accumulated here. Then ,remembering the North Sea which had been mentioned to him before,he decided to go there and have a look.He went downstream, and arrived at the river mouth to the sea.Suddenly, the god of the North Sea,whose name was Biennia Ruo,appeared before his eyes. With a smile,Beihai Ruo was welcoming He Bo to the North sea.He looked ahead, and saw that the North Sea,with its vast expanse of water, was boundless. With a dull look in his eyes,He Bo stood there for a while. Finally he said to Beihai Ruo with deep feeling,”As the common saying goes, some people go so far as to think that they are more knowledgeable than anybody else when they have got some knowledge.Actually I am one of such people. If I had not seen with that the Yellow River is matchless in the world. If I remained like that, I would be laughed at for ever by sensible people."

no ready-made fruit in god’s hand three guys finally got the god through trials and errors.they were eager to ask god for help.right after the god asked what they want, the first man claim a big courtyard, the second a farmstead, and the third a bar of gold.god promised them.at last, the first man was given a pile of bricks, the second a bag of seed and the third a mass of sand.3虫子的压力

worm’s pressure this is a worm whose body is no less than one millimeter.it is called 熊虫(xc)perhaps for the reason that it looks like a black bear under the microscop.the xc usually habited in the slurry of fresh water, wet soil and the 水膜 of moss plants.recently, there was an amazing news discovered by 日本冈山大学物理学家小野文久: when 20 little xc were placed in a sealed container under the 7.5 万个大气压 making in experiment condition, there were only two died and the other 18 have no trouble at all.7.5 万个大气压, equal to over 700 kilogram stress per square meter, which is powerful enough to它足以上淀粉瞬间变性 and the rice ready to eat.in natural condition, this pressure can only be found in the 地幔 beneath the earth 180 kilogram.9.

the meaning of wane on the skyscraper 珀金森‘s rule of business office is : the more perfect designed and more luxury the decoration cornament is, the nearer to its deadline.if 珀金森 know chinese history, then he may find more proofs like 阿房宫,秦始皇陵.i am wondering that why those architecture well-know as luxury al because the ―tomb‖ of their bodies? 10.

(摘自《中国社会报》)facing the reality in silence the truest and most expressive thought was hardly be expressed.14.

‖ all slopes are easy to go he was a professor.at the age of 90, he still work eight hours everyday regardless the season and weather.his secretary said: ―he is extremely old, but he forced himself walk from his living place to office through two blocks.it would take him an hour, but he insisted to because it makes him get a sense of success.‖

this 90-year-old man was 庞德, who was the president of law college in haward university.once a philosophist said: ―you should do some thing that you don not want toevery one or two days.‖

this is the foundation of life progress.just like another phlosophist said: ―all slopes are easy to go.‖ 16.

a young man asked socrates the secret to success.socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning.they met.socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river.when the water got up to their neck, socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked(vt.将??猛按入水)him into the water.the boy struggled to get out but socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue.socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp(vi.喘息)and take a deep breath of air.socrates asked, “what did you want the most when you were there?” the boy replied, “air.” socrates said, “that is the secret to success.when you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it.there is no other secret.”
