“折戟沉沙铁为消，自将磨洗认前朝。”每次大学英语四级 考试，许多考生总会在这场“无硝烟的战斗”中饱受煎熬。他们总会存在这样一个问题，四级考试为什么这么难，什么原因导致自己总是通不过四级考试，又该如何 提高英语成绩，如何通过大学英语四级考试（CET-4）。特别是对于很多学艺术的同学而言，能否顺利通过四级考试将直接关系到他们的保研资格与前途。针对 以上问题，我特意写了这篇文章，通过教学与实践，对考生存在的问题以及解决方法作全面地解剖，希望对各位考生能够有所帮助。

四级考试从1987年以来已经走过了23个年头。2006年6月实行新四级考试，12月份开始全国将全面推行新四级考试。对于新四级考试，我们可以清楚地看到，虽然考试难度较之以前有所偏易，但是考试本身对于英语的全面考察却是加强了。来源：上考试大网校，考试轻松过关

新四级考试，题型分为写作、快速阅读、听力、基本阅读、选词填空、完型填空和汉译英。就我个人而言，写作、听力和阅读（快速阅读和基础阅读）是重点，因此考生对于这三部分的得分多少，将直接决定着其考试分数的高低。

下面就让我们依次来解析一下。

第一、写作。

（一）存在问题

1.不会写

所谓不会写指的是，当考试拿过一篇文章不知如何下手，不知如何提笔进行写作。笔者认为主要是存在以下两个原因：一是考生的确无话可说；二是心里虽然有话，但是拿捏不准该写哪句为妙。于是思前想后、犹豫不决，始终不敢提笔进行写作。

2.写不好

所谓写不好就是，拿过作文题，没有明确的写作思路，不按套路出牌；或是简单汉语逻辑思维写作，不符合英语写作标准，近而没有文采。原因在于：第一是平时没有养成良好的写作习惯；第二对于英语写作的句式特点以及整体文章结构框架不了解。

（二）解决办法

第一，首先必须熟悉英语四级写作具体要求。英语四级考试要求考生在30分钟内写出120字的文章。体材主要有议论文（分为“Topic题型”和 A&B又称“正反观点题”）应用文（主要是书信）、图表文等。针对不同的体裁，写作思路是不同的。比如，以议论文举例来说：

1.议论文写作思路

2.议论文分类：阐述主题型作文（Topic）；正反观点型作文（A&B）

3.阐述主题型作文写作：（这类题型作文要求从一句话或一个主题出发，按照提纲的要求进行论述）

4.正反观点型作文（A&B）（这类题型作文通常从正反两方面来分别论述，最后得出你自己的结论。采用论点加论据写作形式。）

第二，熟悉英语写作的几个重要概念。

1.英语文章段落结构特点

英语文章段落结构一般有三部分构成：主题句+扩展句+结尾句

（1）主题句：所谓主题句，就是英语文章段落的中心思想句。它是英语文章段落的灵魂，在英语文章段落中居于主导地位。我们都知道英语文章一般喜欢开门见山，所以主题句一般位于英语文章段落的句首。其他句子都要围绕它而展开。

（2）扩展句：所谓扩展句就是为主题句起解释说明或论证的句子。通常我们写扩展句所采用的方法是举例子（for example，for instance，such as，a case in point is that---）、列数据（according to the recent study/survey，---）等。

（3）结尾句：所谓结尾句就是总结句。英语写作也类似于汉语写作，最后再把自己本段落的写作目的陈述一下。但是在英语写作中结尾句毕竟还是少数。

因此我们通常看到英语的文章段落结构 60%-70%都是由主题句+扩展句构成。

2.主旨句

作为主旨句就是英语文章的中心思想句。英语文章一般首先用一句话概括一下作者的写作目的或意图，我们就把这句话称之为主旨句。没有受过写作训练的考生是不会写主旨句的。因此这样的文章就不能够称之为好的英语文章，自然也得不到阅卷人的青睐了。第三，学会遣词造句。

1.遣词：

（1）词汇等级

所谓词汇的等级就是，我们在写作的过程中，如果想出一个基本词汇来之后，能够在这个基本词汇的基础上把它在提升一下，也就是我们一般写作所提倡的用“难 词”。比如，我们一提到“重要的”，大多数同学首先会想到“important”这个单词，那么提升一下的话就可以想到它的如下同义 词：significant，vital，main，basilica，crucial，momentous etc

（2）词汇准确性

所谓词汇的准确性是指，我们在有一个词近而想到它的同义词之后，要结合语境选择恰当的用词。在这里必须指明的是，并不是词汇等级越高越好，必须还要考虑 到适合于不同的语境。比如，眼睛大，这个“大的”形容词，我们首先会想到big，近而想到great，large，huge，vast，titanic，enormous etc。那么是不是用后面的词就可以了呢？或者说用上enormous等词更能博得阅卷人的好感呢？答案是否定的。在这里很明显用后面的词来修饰眼睛是不 可以，只能用big，因为我们听过一首英文歌曲叫做“I am a big big girl，in a big big world.”big表示眼睛大而迷人可爱的。

2.造句：

（1）词组

很多考生平时写作不太擅长用词组，对于他们而言 最习惯的就是想到汉语，然后对应汉语思维写出英语句子，这种写作只能是单词的罗列组合，谈不上什么技巧文采可言，因此，写出来的文章必然就是所谓平淡如流 水，没有英语的味道。如果我们能够在单词的基础上，进一步想到与之同义的词组，那么文章就会显得与众不同，更具有英语的味道。比如上面所说的“重要的”这 个单词，当我们想到important的时候，如果从语法角度再稍加考虑一下，我们会想到“be of importance”。因为，语法中规定：形容词等于of加这个形容词的名词形式。如果再提升一步，我们还学过一个常用的词组叫做“play an important role in---”。很多同学说自己的文章凑不够字数或是没有文采，那么采用词组进行写作是不是就可以解决以上问题了呢？

一、考生在写作当中经常出现的问题

1.基本词汇和语法不过关。

主要表现为对英语语法知识的掌握不牢靠及对基本词汇记忆不清。在语句中，会出现主谓不一致，单复数搞不清楚，时态与语态混乱等现象。除了句子上的语法与结构问题，整篇文章的布局与思路也不流畅，支离破碎，形不成一个完整的系统，让人看不懂你要说的是什么。

2.语言积累太少，不能写出相对复杂或优美的句子。

很多考生在写作中遇到的困难首先是无从下手，没有什么可写的。

考生在提笔想写出表达自己思想的句子时，往往遇到单词不会或句子结构搞不清而无法继续写下去。为了凑够字数，就只好胡乱拼凑。而且语句全是简单的主谓宾，没有从句及高级词汇和词组。这样会大大降低文章的档次。因此，考生在英语学习过程中，应高度重视词汇的学习和词组的积累，熟练掌握教学大纲中所要求的四级词汇。

3.考生写作中的文章布局问题

很多考生的写作方法是先想好中文再翻译成英文，这个在所难免。因为大家对汉语还是最熟悉的，喜欢用母语来表达我们的观点和意见。而且即使对专业学习英语的人来说，也很难达到在写作时完全用英文思考的状态。但是汉语跟英语在语法上有很大的区别，如果直接翻译过来，会出现很大问题，就是地道的汉式英语，读起来很不舒服。

二、英语四级考试写作应试技巧及备考策略

1.认真审题，准确立意

从历次大学英语四级考试中我们可以看到，四级写作是一种给题目、提示、及指导的短文写作，因此，紧紧围绕其题旨是至关重要的。考生在审题的过程应当认真审阅作文的说明要求和所给的材料，比如段首句、提纲、关键词、图表等，确定相应的体裁，明确自己的中心思想，从而明确作文的写作范围和侧重点。审题的目的主要是确定文章的主题思想，一篇文章只能有一个主题思想，要鲜明、深刻、有新意。另外，考生要善于分析给定的材料，总结材料包含的主要内容，是否含有引申义，这一点也很重要。

2.简单列出提纲

英语四级考试一般要求在30分钟内写出一篇120个词的短文，文章虽说并不是太长，但需要有论有据，有头有尾。为了防止时间不足导致质量降低甚至不能完成文章，写作时一定要安排好时间。为了在写作时有章可循，不跑题，建议最好用5分钟左右写下提纲和要点，这样做一是不至于无话可说，二是可以避免虎头蛇尾。大家只需确定每段要写什么，围绕主题展开，大致建立文章框架即可。

3.确立段落主题句

这其实是对提纲的细化。学生应用最精炼的语言概括出段落的主题句。段落主题句就是每段的中心思想，因此，主题句最好放在每段的段首，能让阅卷人一眼就能明了全段大意。同时，主题句结构要完整，表达意义要准确，有高度的概括性，且用词要精炼生动。

4.注意文章的逻辑性

无论是汉语文章还是英语文章，都要注重逻辑性，这样才能连贯合理。英语句子不像汉语句子，汉语不用连词也能表达完整的句子，但英语的句子之间必须用连词或关系词来连接。因此，考试在写作中，句子之间要用相应的连接词来体现文章的逻辑性。比如：表示举例或补充说明的关联词、表示时间或顺序的关联词、表示转折的关联词以及表示原因与结果的关联词等等，考生在平时的学习中要有意识的积累这类连接词。

5.文章修改

考生写完一篇文章后，若时间允许，要进行修改。考生可从以下几个方面入手修改。应该先从语篇结构上检查，这主要是检查文章的主题是否明确，篇章层次是否明显，段落衔接是否连贯，内容是否切题等。另一方面就是具体检查每个段落，这一步主要检查段落是否完善，中心是否突出，段内各句是否衔接紧凑等。最后就是做语法上的检查，包括用词是否恰当，标点是否正确，句子结构是否完整，语句是否通顺等。

最后，需要提醒广大考生的是，写作能力的提高不是一朝一夕可以办到的，它需要考生平时的刻苦训练，还要各个环节的密切配合。四级写作考察的是考生的英语综合水平，因此，考生在平时备考过程中要多练习，多总结，多积累。

很多同学提到英语作文痛苦不已，每次提笔都很头痛。下面总结基础较差的同学易出现的问题进行总结，希望能帮忙更多的考生提前做好写作的复习准备工作。

多年教四级精讲班的阅读和写作部分过程中。布置过多次作业，收集学生写作案例，也进行了相应的批改。在批改的过程有，颇多感触，特成此文，与各位同学分享。

目前，到培训机构学习四级长期提高的同学，从总体上来看，可谓是英语学习的“重灾区”，他们显示出以下的特点：

1.基本的语法概念都有较大的问题，这些语法概念包括时态、词性、主语的性别、被动结构等；

2.基本词汇量极为有限，很难表达清楚自己的观点；

3.在英语写作的过程中，暴露出中文写作能力的不足，比如逻辑性、论证能力、描述能力等；

4.思路有时反而放得太开，不了解四六级考试作文部分真正的要求； 5.对英语国家文化层面的内容缺乏较基本的了解。同时，这批同学也有值得欣赏的亮点：

1.由于考试过关的压力，学习目的性很强，如果善于引导，可以较好的激发他们的学习热情；

下面，我结合授课及作业批改过程中所做的收集，给各位同学提供一些例子：

一、基本语法层面的问题：

1.关于时态：时态是四级长期提高的同学们最普遍的难关，主要表现为：

a.无法保持时态在全文的一致：这一现象很普遍，往往是紧接的两句，而且是没有任何时间状语的情况之下，就出现了时态的不一致，例：I saw an English man.He have a big bag.b.时态的基本用法错误

同学们在写作的过程中，出于自己有限的词汇水平，想要表达的意思却说不清，最终的结果是生硬的将中文表达中的词汇翻成英语。举几个例子：

例一：学生想说明英语口语的重要性，I saw an English man.He have(保持时态一致，用had)a big bag.He looked for（这样说有可能产生读者的误解，He looked for a map 可以理解为“他在找一张地图”，建议改为“He was looking for a place on a map.”）a map.He got lost.例二：想说明“考试只是一种形式”，test is only a form, 同学并不了解，其实有“test is only a test”这样的用法。

例三：想说明口语的重要性。“在国外，我可以不会写英语，但不能不会说英语”，I can can’t write, but I can’t can’t speak.三、缺乏逻辑性、论证能力、描述能力等

有一次，我的作文题目是“A Campaign Speech”，为竞选学生会主席而进行演讲。有一位同学的作文比较有趣，他通篇说，如果我当选学生会主席，这将有助于提高我自己的组织能力、思维能力、交往能力，等等。我当时对他的作文的评价是：“设想你是一个学生，你会选一个只想着利用这个机会来提高自己的人作学生会主席吗？”

另一次，我布置的作文是“Is Pressure a Bad Thing”? 结果就有同学大谈How should we face the pressure，其实他的论述跳过了一步，先要论证pressure是否有积极的意义，然后才谈得上如何去面对它。

四、不了解四六级考试作文部分真正的要求

有两篇作文我印象比较深刻。我出的题目是“口语考试是否应该成为四六级考试的一部分”，要求从正、反两方面论述。结果一位同学交上来的作文，第一节，I think spoken English test is not necessary，然后洋洋洒洒写了一通，第二节，却又变成I think spoken English test is necessary，然后同样洋洋洒洒写了一些论点。他没有真正理解“正、反两方面论述”这个要求的含义，结果写了一篇自相矛盾的文章。

有一次我的题目是一个图表题，展示的是大学生1990、1995、2000这三年中，平均每周用在计算机上的时间。图表题的要求一般是第一小节描述变化趋势，即图表的数据分析，第二小节解释变化的原因，第三小节展望未来趋势或分析一些相关的问题。

结果这位同学非常辛苦地写了一篇很长的文字。第一小节，回顾1990年，当时家里也很穷，父母都舍不得坐比较贵的空调车之类，描述一番当时的贫困生活，自然，也就没有办法购置计算机了。第二小节，到了1995年，生活好转了，同时微软公司推出了“Windows”操作系统，计算机的使用也变得方便了，所以每小时的使用时间增加了。第三小节，到了2000年，Intel公司推出了“奔腾”芯片，计算机的速度大大提高，于是计算机的使用时间大大增加。

凭心而论，排除一些语法和用词的错误，这篇作文写得还是不错的。只是他有两个问题： 第一、在第一小节中，将个人的经历用于解释普遍的大学生1990年计算机使用时间较短这一现象，这是“以偏概全”；第二、这样分布三个小节的内容，比较冒险，因为原题中提示的三点，其实就是让我们在文章中自然形成相应三个小节，四六级写作考试是比较“八股文”的。

五、对英语国家文化层面的内容缺乏较基本的了解

一个常见的现象就是轻率地对英美国家的人士作结论性的描述，类似：Americans all like pressures。另外就是语言的夸大其辞。典型例子出自一位同学写的竞选学生会主席的演讲，When students have some troubles, they all come to me.I talk to them, then they feel happy, and I feel happy too，这简直是把自己描述成为“上帝”或者“邪教领袖”了。英语作文多多练习，多多犯错，才会更好成长。
