在英语中，一些句型要求句中的动词必须使用一定的时态，为了便于理解和掌握，现将常用过去时态的固定句型归纳如下 ：

1． It’s(high)time sb did sth表示“正是某人做某事的时候”，要用一般过去时。如：

It’s(high)time we had supper.我们该吃晚饭了。2． It is /has been…since…表示“自从…以来…”,since之前用一般现在时或现在完成时，since后用一般过去时；若since前用一般过去时或过去完成时，则since后用过去完成时。如：

It is(has been)two years since he died.他已去世两年了。

He said it was four days since he had come here.他说他来这儿已四天了。3． …was/were doing sth.When …did sth表示“正在做某事，这时突然…”，前面用过去进行时，后面用一般过去时。如：

I was playing a computer game when there was a knock at the door.我在玩电脑游戏，这时有人敲门。

4．No sooner…than…./hardly…when…表示“一（刚）…就…”，than/when前用过去完成时,than/when后用一般过去时.如：

I had no sooner got home than she made me cook the supper.我一到家，她就让我做晚饭。She had hardly come back when she would see me.她一回来，就来看我。若No sooner或hardly提前，则采用倒装语序。
