第二篇:《傲慢与偏见》英文读后感

The impression of Pride and Prejudice

The book《 Pride and Prejudice》 iswrittenby Jane Austen , a famous English writer.I still remember the first sentence in this

book.It reads :“It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must in need of a wife.” The undertone is very clear : the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.Love seems to be a perpetual theme all the time. And the main story in the book Pride and Prejudice is not a exception. The writer tells us her views and attitudes about love and marriage in this book. The novel mainly tells us a love story between Elizabath and Mr.Darcy.It is at a ball that Elizabeth meets Mr.Darcy for the first time and his pride and supercilious behaviors has left Elizabeth a terrible impression. This is the reason why Elizabeth's prejudice towards him begins.Besides this

reason ,there are two other incidents strengthens Elizabeth's prejudice. The first is that Wickham

speaks ill of Mr.Darcy, which makes Elizabeth thinks him is unworthy to making acquaince of.The second is that Elizabeth regards Darcy is the person who

separates her sister Jane and Mr.Bingley.But with the plots developing ,Darcy has changed himself and become no longer pride ,he also helps Jane and Bingley's reunion. All these factor change

Elizabeth's attitude towards Darcy.Eventually , Elizabeth and Darcy become a couple and lead a happy life from then on.After reading this novel, I realize the

author—Jane Austen’s attitudes and viewstowards love and marriage: is unpractical to get married just for property, wealth and social status while would it be without caring about these elements.Marriage should be based on a real love and it is not a game! You can not just enjoy it without prudent

considerations. There is a gap which is called pride and prejudice between Elizabeth and Darcy , for they possess different society status and amount of property. But the ending which the author arranges that Elizabeth and Darcy break all the obstacles and

become a love couple suggests that true do exist no matter how different the background ,the status is.And I think this book will arouse people’s awareness of the importance of true love in a marriage.

第三篇:英文读后感——项链

The Necklace: Reflections and Confessions of Human’s Vanity

“What would have happened if she hadn’t lost that necklace? Who knows? Who knows? How strange and changeful is life! How small a thing is needed to make or ruin us!” This is what impressed me most in “The Necklace” written by Guy de Maupassant.I love the story not only due to the incredibly wonderful ending, but also because of the exquisite description of the weakness of humanity. In his story, Guy de Maupassant creatively reveals Mathilde Loisel's dreams of a wealthy, splendid lifestyle.Mathilde's lifetime of misery and despair is solely caused by her own selfish acts. And her vain obsession all ended up ruining her life.Vanity is defined as excessive pride, especially in your appearance. In Mathilde's case, the “excessive pride” in her looks and charm caused her to feel as if she deserved a higher ranking social class and the wealth. When she wore the necklace to the party, she wanted to give the illusion that she was something that she was not.Vanity caused Mathilde to fantasize about her life and surroundings-to live in a world of illusion, rather than reality. Her life was affected in a negative way because of her obsession with vanity. It is so sad that she honestly felt successful the night of the dinner, just because of her looks and her surroundings. What a distorted

view of true happiness and fulfillment!Neither an elegant dress or a

beautiful piece of jewelry can make a person who they are.A caring and

loving person has to be unselfish.Mathilde Loisel definitely lacked a

caring and loving personality. The only person she proved to love was

the person she wanted to be.Had Mathilde not spent so much of her life

selfishly, she and Mr.Loisel could have had a lifetime of happiness. The

most ironic and interesting piece of the story is the conclusion.Their

lives were ruined for no reason.Had she told Mrs.Forrestier the truth

about the lost necklace, she would have known that the necklace was

just costume jewelry.Actually, it’s a tragedy made by herself, for she

was conquered by the evil of her heart. In pursuit of vanity may lead to the loss of ourselves.Accept who

we are and to be to true to ourselves or else it will contribute to

constant unhappiness.Happiness or misfortune, it all depends.

第五篇:老人与海读后感 英文

Impression after reading The Old Man and the Sea

Ernest Hemingway is one of my favourite writers, and his famous work The Old Man and the Sea impressed me most. And his household

saying “A man is not made for defeat.A man can be destroyed but not defeated” has been always ringing in my ear.The Old Man and the Sea is a story about the old fisherman Santiago who lived alone in sea fishing. After the 84 days with nothing,he caught a huge marlin. The fish was very large, and dragging the boat drifted for two days and nights. Finally the fish was stabbed and tied to the bow. However, it was unfortunate that some sharks suddenly turned up in returning, the old fisherman and the sharks had a desperate struggle. Finally, the giant marlin was eaten up by sharks. After some bitter days, the whacked old fisherman dragged home only a skeleton, but he was admired by local fishermen. The novel eulogized the spirit which the old man had.And I think we should learn from him in some extent. To begin with, we should never give up when faced with the fear and dangerous.Life itself is a kind of endless pursuit. And the road is long, difficult and full of obstacles.I firmly believe that we will win when we make a decision to overcome and try our best to do something. And as long as we tenaciously face the challenges with a brave heart and confidence, we will always be a real winner! What is more, although the old man may not have great physical

strength, he still has a mind that is capable of many things. So never look down upon old people. We must realize that they have gone through many experiences that we have not and that they hold a vast amount of knowledge about the world around them.As the saying goes “A man is not made for defeat.A man can be destroyed but not defeated”, we should always remember that never give up no matter how difficult conditions we will suffer.
