What we cannot afford to lose
We cannot lose innovation
There is a wonderful word which expresses the most original motions and desires among human-beings.With solving any kind of imperfections, our world has moved ahead. This is the word “innovation” that we cannot afford to lose.We chicaned every detail of the innovation.Thousands years before, we created fire when we took a stone to knock another one.Since Han Dynasty, four great inventions had been created and it is one of the greatest signs that China become to the ancient civilized country. And nowadays, thousands of software, products, architectures and public facilities have upgraded more than that about 100 years ago.So how did these happen? What will you do if you are not satisfied with your tools anymore? What will you do if old mode cannot afford to develop in a company? There is no doubt that we should innovate no matter where we are and what we do.Not because of the design itself, but actually for its intended purpose. If there was no Apple, everyone could not imagine how to contact others easily and enjoy a better Internet surfing. If there was no Microsoft, perhaps we still worked in a dim office and duplicate some troublesome documents. If there was no Newton, and no theory of gravity, maybe I will win the Nobel Prize like Newton rather than just standing here.I have heard that three apple changed the world. The first one seduced Eve.The second one awakened Newton. The third one was in the hands of Steve Jobs.We sort of think the innovation of the world began with apple.I imagine lots of people want to become another Newton or Jobs right now with just one hand to change the world, right? Have the innovation to follow your heart. It somehow already reflects what you truly want to become.Everything else is secondary.Via questioning, we can start to innovate.Via innovating, we can start to create better lives. No innovation, no improvement. No improvement, no success. And no success, no civilization. Now, our time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life!Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice!Don't let yourself down!It is the innovation that we cannot afford to lose!
第二篇:Innovation 英语演讲稿
When Tradition Meets Innovation This is a changing world. We have so many products that are updating every day, which totally change the way we live.At first we only had telephones that could speak to each other, and then we got SMS to send text.We tried to made phones smaller to be portable. After that, we added camera function into phones and successfully linked it with internet. This is how we got our smart phones. From the development of mobile phones, it is easy to tell that, all kind of innovation is based on what it had originally.Innovation is adding something new to or changing something that has been established.Tradition is a ritual, belief, or object passed down within a society, still maintained in the present, with origins in the past. Most, if not all things, incorporate lessons learned from both.'Innovation and Tradition' represents opposite ends on the spectrum of change. When tradition meets innovation, all you need is to change another mind. You can combine totally different things together, or figure out different usages, in order to get new things.A company needs to be creative while has a sense to satisfy consumers requirement in this dog-eats-dog environment. Therefore, innovative ability has become a vitally important key to success.Let‟s take Wechat as a sample. It took the place of original way to communicate and even added voice message, allow us to hear peoples voice freely. It really makes the connection between the worlds differently.Every a little change counts. When you get an extra cup, makes it a pot to grow flowers;when you get some tea and milk, makes it a cup of milk tea;when you get a huge calabash, makes it a float. In order to be irreplaceable, one must be always different. This is the belief that helps Coco Chanel to develop her brand into a world-famous luxury. To be different is just another saying of innovation.Nowadays, innovative ability has become a standard of job interviews. The more creative you are, the more opportunities could you get.As I have said above, if one person wants to be creative, try to combine things together or think about new ways and turns to do things.Always ask yourself, „Is there any way to make a change?‟
All the promotions we make today comes from the inspiration due to innovation. We make our life become safe and convenient. So always change a kind of way to think. When people say the old saying, “When life gives a lemon to you, turn it into lemonade”, you should change a way.You can say, “when life gives you lemonade, turn it into lemon, and the life will say „what?!‟
第三篇:英文演讲稿tradition and innovation
When innovation becomes a tradition
Good afternoon, ladies and Gentlemen.Today I’d like to begin with a story. We all know that Chinese, as a nation has a long history about 5000 years, and we feel very proud of our brilliant and splendid culture.Owing to that, my father always told me: “you would suffer loss if you don’t follow old people’s words.” Besides I was taught everyday to learn Peking Opera. If some boy who is about 16 years old sings Peking Opera in the classroom now, I’m afraid he will be laughed at.JAY’s “Qian Li Zhi Wai ”seems more popular to you.So we may wonder does our tradition get out of the modern life? Absolutely not. What we need is just a peace of innovation. Here is a question:What is innovation? Innovation was an ancient dream flying into the outer space;innovation today, is the amazing convenience and intelligence that a single mobile phone in your pocket could bring to you. There is no more then a battle between tradition and innovation, whichis the rain and water relationship, not only tradition like fish without water, again good innovation will also become the castles in the air, there won't be lasting vitality.Only both of them are perfectly together will bear fruits of success as well. With the economic globalization becoming increasingly intensive, innovation has become one of central topics around the world. Many countries see it as the key to develop their economy. Our government, with no exception, regard it as “ the soul of our nation.” Based on advanced function system and excellent management, factories are booming and enhance overall national economy.Highly development of electronic commerce is also a significant factor for improving our living standards. The enlargement of our authority to the recruit of graduate and improvement of the conditions of scientists and skilled workers......From all above, innovation has already became a kind of habit. There is no doubt we would surprise the world by creating more and more amazing innovations taking advantages of not only our intelligence butinnovation.I’m sure innovation has became one of the symbols in Chinese tradition and will be mark of our bright future!
Thanks for your attention.Thank you very much.
第四篇:英语演讲稿创新重要性
My Understanding of Innovation Good afternoon everybody.I’m Alison from GAMI.It’s my honour to stand here to share my understanding of innovation.About innovation, what comes to your mind firstly ? As for me, most innovation shines our lives in the long process of humanhistory.Just imagine ten million years ago, what are our ancestors’ lifestyles? They must hunt animals or pick the roots and leaves for food laboriously with simple tools; They have to roar with each other to communicate in a long distance;Their transportation basically rely on walking. In short, their lives are hard, simple, even a little boring. However, taking a look at our lives today! We can order KFC at home , our food is more easily and diversifiedly to be acquired;we can get in touch with our friends anywhere at anytime by telephone , E-mail andWeChat! Our vehicles include buses ,cars, planes and so on, it becames so easy to reach the destination. So how did these happen? Those changes are all owing to the countless innovation. It makes our lives become more convenient, comfortable and colorful. But in today’s modern life , don’t we need to innovate? No no, let’s have a look at the problems we are facing: air pollution, traffic jam, waste of resources. Those are related to our survival.Maybe we can make a huge machine to filter the polluted , or invent a car which not only can drive along the road, but also can fly in the sky;or one day we synthesis super energy materials, we would never relay on traditional resources any more. Are those ideas too exaggerated? Who knows? Just as hundreds years ago, nobody can imagine we can fly by plane.Time will tell you the truth. As Edward, a famous psychologists, said: Without innovation, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns. Therefore, innovation is an eternal topic for people, countries and societies! That’s all, thank u!
第五篇:Speech - 30 mins - CQ Innovation Forum重庆创新论坛发言
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,I am delighted to help today in lending the British Government’s support to this wonderful initiative, and congratulate the organisers on putting together such an inspiring programme and list of attendees.Today is all about innovation and its vital role in economic and social development for the future.I would like to take a moment to reflect on the British Government’s view of its
importance and the contribution we believe the UK can make in partnership with the dynamic economies of the world. Our definition of innovation is the “process by which new ideas are successfully exploited to create economic, social and environmental value”.They are of course a key driver of growth & competitiveness – in the UK 6% of innovative, high-growth companies created 40% of new private sector jobs(NESTA 2009).Innovation creates new knowledge, new technology, enhanced/more efficient services & highly skilled people. It also addresses and helps provide solutions for broad social issues such as climate change, health, food and water security.A quick word about the UK’s research base, whichhas a solid foundation. With less than 1% of the world’s population, the UK produces 8% of its scientific papers and 14% of its most highly cited. We have 3 of the top 10 universities in the world, and are rated by Elsevier as the most productive global science nation. With citations, university patents, licensing agreements and contract research, we enjoy the highest share of growth from science, greater productivity, and an increasing number of companies, big and small, are actively innovative. The UK remains the top destination in Europe for inward investment. This obviously covers a range of sectors, but innovation-and research-rich companies play a huge part in that – IBM, Microsoft(Cambridge), GE Healthcare, Boeing(Sheffield).A global comparison study shows that the UK is second in terms of its strength in biosciences, environmental science, social sciences, business, clinical practices, health and medical, and the humanities, and in the top five for mathematics, physical sciences and engineering.Clearly, China has taken over a leading position in a number of these disciplines, meaning that the relative strengths of the two countries continue to be complementary. So are the UK and China innately innovative? Personally, I believe there has to be something in this. You simply have to look at both countries’ track records of discovery and innovation over the centuries. But that creativity is as nothing if there is no means of turning it to the best advantage of society. In the UK we therefore provide fiscal incentives through R&D tax credit and venture capital. We also ensure the right infrastructure is in place with measurement, standards, intellectual property, and a competition framework. As one of the easiest countries to do business, we have liberal trade & investment policies, and a generally enabling climate, good skills & legislation to allow for excellent capability in pioneering fields of research, eg stem cells and synthetic biology. Also important is that the UK has devolved its innovation ecosystem. The National Physical Laboratory, BSi, HEFCE, IPO, Design Council, TSB, NESTA, RCUK.This allows for
robust development of new ideas. And this is key.Of course, government has an important role in innovation, but that is and should be restricted to helping provide the environment for ideas to flourish by funding blue skies research, improving the interface between universities and Business, and delivering a better business environment for commercialising research. Our roles and responsibilities make us poor innovators – so we must leave it to the experts…!So how do we go about this? The UK Research and Innovation Strategy was developed in 2011 to drive research and innovation in all sectors of the economy-low-and medium-tech as well as high-tech;to create a more coherent and integrated research and innovation system;improve innovation performance by intensifying the roles of the science, research and information infrastructures;and ensure that the public sector itself is a major driver of innovation. We try to incorporate innovative strategies into our day-to-day operations in terms of procurement processes and environmental impact for example. In practical terms, we aim to support innovative businesses through RMB 850m of additional funding for innovative SMEs, RMB 1.5bn for a Higher Education Innovation Fund, and a UK Innovation Investment Fund of RMB 3.25bn in particular for areas such as digital and life sciences, clean technology and advanced manufacturing. These funding streams are managed professionally.HMG is not involved in these decisions.Figures show that in 2009, 6% of innovative, high-growth companies created 40% of new private sector jobs(NESTA 2009).R&D tax credits are the biggest single funding mechanism provided by government for investment in business R&D, worth RMB 10bn to companies based in the UK in 2009-10.All companies spending at least RMB 100k in their accounting year on qualifying R&D are entitled to claim a deduction when calculating their taxable profits of 225% for SMEs and 130% for larger companies.I know that China has also introduced incentives for innovative ventures, which only goes to show that great minds think alike. The Technology Strategy Board(TSB)is one of the leading bodies on the UK championing innovative businesses. It is the contact point for many of the UK’s knowledge transfer networks, and supports partnerships for academic to business projects within a three year period, a proven path to profit uplift and job creation. It also runs “Smart” which allows up to nearly RMB 4m per company to take an idea from concept to proof of market to prototype over a period of four years. And they provide direct grants for collaborative R&D projects, including of course internationally.Furthermore, the TSB runs the Small Business Research Initiative(SBRI)which helps drive innovation in SMEs.How does it help SMEs? It enables public sector, ie government, organisations to procure new technologies faster and with managed risk;it provides full paid contracts for the critical stage of product development;it is internationally open.So far it has held 55 competitions. These are challenge led, for example one tasked companies to bring innovations to reduce infection in hospitals. So far 560 contracts have been awarded to a value of RMB 384m.In this way, the government has an important part to play in shaping markets and creating the opportunity and demand. There are a number of levers at its disposal. It can use regulation and standards to open up and accelerate markets;its
procurement plays an important role;the SBRI explicitly aims to bring in new suppliers to
government;it therefore provides business opportunities whilst solving the needs and
challenges of government departments in the public interest.Another recent example was of a sports equipment manufacturer looking at the development of lightweight body armour for defence procurement.Let me give you one further example of the importance of the government role in providing the necessary infrastructure: Catapult, a RMB 2bn investment to solve technical challenges for business. In effect, this is a clustering of academic and applied technical expertise, providing access to world-leading technology & expertise;reaching into the UK’s world-class research base;allowing capability to undertake collaborative R&D;capability to
undertake contract research;a critical mass of activity;and skills development at all levels. We currently have Catapults in high value manufacturing, satellite applications, future cities, connected digital economy, transport systems, offshore renewable energy and cell therapy, with plans for roll-out in further areas.I made clear earlier that science does not progress in isolation. The UK is a dynamic
participant in research world-wide.And clearly of central importance is work undertaken at EU level, which champions “turning ideas into jobs, green growth and social progress”.The UK is actively involved in the Europe 2020 Strategy, and in building the European Research Area(ERA).The EU is targeting 3% of its GDP on R&D by 2020.This aims to create 3.7 million jobs and an increase annual GDP of €795 billion by 2025.As part of this, the Horizon 2020 programme will fund the innovation cycle with €80bn(2014-20).There is an SME
focus with 15% of budget for societal challenges and enabling and industrial technologies. As with all these government initiatives, it is important that they are accessible.Simplification is therefore key with a single access point. And there will be clear procurement processes and access to finance. It is clear that the major global successes require global collaboration, and therefore generate shared benefits. The best products bring together technologies from around the globe e.g.iPhone, Airbus, ARM valued at RMB 78bn.We can therefore all be winners as long as our ambition is to work together. So once again, I congratulate everybody for taking part in today’s forum, which is testament to the facts that: R&D is the foundation of innovation;innovation happens in companies and SMEs;government has a role to set an enabling environment to allow companies to flourish.Lastly, and most importantly, innovation is a global pursuit which benefits all.Good luck, and best wishes for a successful forum.
