第一篇:University as I See It (gai)
Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen:
Today, my topic is University as I See It------A prelude to a dream
Hold fast to dreamsHold fast to dreams
For if dreams dieFor when dreams go
Life is a broken-winged birdLife is a barren field
That cannot flyFrozen with snow
This is a poem written by Langston Hughes.I quoted here because I believe that it perfectly indicated a fact that dreams are indispensable to our life.It is true that we all have dream, but we don’t know how to start it;we’re all longing to succeed, but we don’t know where to begin it.We keep wandering confusedly in the darkness, not realizing that we’ve already stood at the beginning of the road which will lead us to our dream and future. To me, “University” was once just an abstract concept without special meaning when I was in high school. For my perspective, maybe it would be a heaven where I can get rid of all the burden of study.Or rather, I used to simply regard it as a shinning light ahead of me for that I thought it would be a place with freedom and joyfulness. However, I have changed my minds now.University is a place where we can find the actual self which can encourage us to face the enemies within, to get over the obstacles and to conquer the fear.We are in our beautiful twenties, young and vigorous as the early spring. Therefore, we need a stage to show our energy, to build up our character, and most importantly, to chase our dreams.Fortunately, University is this idealistic stage.University is a place to live in the present. Now, it is a moment for you to make a choice, whether to look back constantly with tears or to look forward to a far-flung future.University teaches us how to live in the present and let us know that there is goodness to life that cannot be denied.“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may”, University is the garden of youth;we blossom here and make the best of our time.On this miracle land, we experience everything that later will be the precious treasure in our life.Thank you.
