A Book Report on The Little Prince
The Little Prince is a fairy tale written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry(1900.6.29-1944.7.31), a pilot and writer who was born in France.Antoine de Saint-Exupéry enjoys adventure and freedom.He devotes his whole life to French aviation undertaking.When serving for aviation company, he sets up many new air lines and finishes his tasks carefully.In 1944, he is missing during a task, then it becomes a mysterious legend.He has many works, such as the Little Prince, Southern Mail, The Wisdom of the Sends, Letter to a Hostage, Night Flight, A Sense of Life, Wartime Writings, Flight to Arras and Wind, Sand and Stars.He also wins some awards, such as French Fermi prize for Literature, L’Institut de France prize for Literature and so on.And The Little Prince even has a reputation of the book only second to Bible.The little prince is a lovely boy who lives in a planet which is a little bigger than him.The only one to company with him is a rose which he loves.But her vanity hurts the little prince, then he leaves the planet and starts his journey.He visits six planets one after another.What he sees and hears makes him very sad, he feel that the adults are ridiculous and abnormal.Obeying to the advice of geographer, the lonely little prince comes to the earth.And on the earth, he meets the pilot.He finds that human beings lack imagination, they can only repeat other’s words just like a parrot.He misses his little rose on his planet more and more.Then, he encounters a fox, and he conquers the fox patiently and makes friend with it.The fox tells him a secret, that eyes can’t see the nature of the world, we can only penetrate anything by our soul, as a gift for the little prince.With this secret, the little prince and the pilot find the water of life together.Finally, the little prince let the a snake bite him and he goes back to his planet.Or sadly, in fact, he dies on the earth.In fact, at the first, I don’t think it is an attracting novel.However, when I read it the second time, I find that it contains a lot of deeper meanings.Childhood is the period that we look forward to miracle, chase for warmth and full of dreams.On the contrast, the adults seem to be less active, vanity and superficial.Cildren should be the model of the adults.The adults are lonely.In order to possess wealth and authority, they forget their lives’ true needs and value.They lose their valuable purity and imagination.The novel also tells me that we should take our responsibilities of anything.Now that we choose something, we have the obligation to do it well.As in the novel, the little prince should take responsibilities on his rose and fox.The little prince always ask various questions, and it always makes him upset.But he continue to do it, he keeps looking for the truth of life.We all should learn from him, keeping a pure heart and chasing for our dreams.
