Spring Festival is the most important festival in China,which is to celebrate the lunar calendar 's new year.In the evening before the Spring Festival ,families get together and have a big meal.What's more,in many places people like to set off firecrackers.Apparently,dumplings are the most traditional food.In addition,on the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods.What to lay it to?It is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.Most importantly,the fifth day is called Po Woo.On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth.No one visits families and friends on the fifth day.Otherwise, it will bring both parties bad luck.On the sixth to the 10th day, not only will the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely.,but also they will visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.Probably more food is consumed during the New Year celebrations than any other time of the year.Vast amounts of traditional food is prepared for family and friends, as well as those close to us who have died.Children are the happiest in spring festival.They will receive red envelopes that contain money as new year presents.They can also play crackers and fireworks.What's more, they are given a lot of freedom, which they have dreamed of for a whole year.During Spring festival, there will be plenty of foods.That's why many people put on “holiday weight” after Spring festival.When it comes to food, there are many festival specialties.The world famous Jiaozi and Chunjuan(spring roll)have even been accepted by foreigners as fast foods.Spring festival usually comes in February, sometimes earlier.In a word,it's a festival full of hope and good wishes.It's a symbol of Chinese culture.

端午节 Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar.For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi(glutinous ricewrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves)and racing dragon boats.The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes.Thisregattacommemorates the death of Qu Yuan , an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river.The dragon-boat races symbolize the many attempts to rescue and recover Qu's body.A typical dragon boat ranges from 50-100 feet in length, with a beam of about 5.5 feet, accommodating two paddlers seated side by side.龙舟节,也叫端午节,是在中国的农历五月初五这一天庆祝。千百年来,吃粽子(用竹叶或芦苇叶把糯米包裹起来,形成一个金字塔)和赛龙舟已经成为这个节日的标志。这个节日最出名的是龙舟赛,尤其是在有很多河流和湖泊的南方省份。这一划船比赛是为了纪念屈原的死,据说他是一位正直的大臣,他是投江自刎的。龙舟赛象征着拯救和恢复屈氏体的许多尝试。一艘典型的龙舟长度达50到100英尺不等,束长约5.5英尺,可容纳两个桨手并排坐。
