第一篇:GM food,good or bad
Genetically Modified Food, angel or devil?
Genetically modified food means transfer the genes of some creatures into other species by using modern molecular biological technology, through reforming the genetic material of the creature, changing the shape, nutritional quality and quality to what people want them to.Genetically modified food is a kind of food using genetically modified organisms as direct food or raw material. The world's first genetically modified crop is a kind of tobacco containing antibiotics which derived in 1983, Until 10 years later, the first kind of genetically modified food appeared in USA, it is a kind of tomatoes that can delay the ripe.Today, the United States uses transgene technology more than any other countries, about 20 kinds of genetically crops have been approved, including corn, soybeans, potatoes and cotton. The advantage of genetically modified food is giving our life more convenient, obviously improve the quality of our life. What’s more, because of its high yield, it increases the possibility of solving the global hunger issues. But everything has two sides, some countries don’t think so.Some European countries such as Switzerland, Austria, their consumer groups oppose the sale of importing genetically modified food, they believe that genetically modified foods affect human health. In Europe, the government's attitude is, genetically modified food are insecurity, and need for science to prove their safety. Some social groups and organizations called for scientists to confirm the safety of genetically modified foods before the suspension of genetically modified crops.Currently, Transgenic technology is still in the primary stage of the study, most people insist that food cultivated by this technology is unnatural, it maybe poisonous, can bring allergic reaction problem and threaten to the environment.Objectively speaking, each new thing has its own growing process, We should use the objective critical and inclusive vision to treat them. With the development of technology, someday the scientist will tell us whether genetically modified food is angle or a devil.
