The Beautiful Suqian

Good afternoon，ladies and gentlemen。Today，I will introduce my hometown to you。Suqian，a beautiful and historical city.Suqian is located in the north of Jiangsu Province, boarding Lianyungang, which is one of the 8 largest ports in China, to the east, Xuzhou。Covering a land of 8555 square kilometers, Suqian has a population of 5 million.The city enjoys popularity for it is the hometown of the Great Conqueror Xiangyu of West Chu Period in China.Suqian bears a long history.Archeologist discovered the Xiacaowan Cultural Ruin that human inhabited fifty thousand years ago, and towns of Suqian began to be built in this region nearly 2,300 years ago.One of the emperors of Tang Dynasty(618-907)changed its name from Suyu County to Suqian County in 405.Next is Suqian’sdeliciousFood.Taking the Xuhai style in Su cuisine as the main body, the cuisine in Suqian pays much attention to the taste of salt，fresh and expertise in marine lives.Local delicacies include “Farewell My Concubine”, which stews chicken with turtles, Qianlong Braised Dog Meat with Bath Chap in Heavy Soup, Spiced Turnip, and Qianlong Tribute Crisp.Major Suqian Tourism Resources: Suqian has abundant traveling resources and many scenery zones and it was praised by Qianlong

Emperor in Qing Dynasty highly.Now I want to show you some famous tourist attractions.Suqian has a lot of tourism resources, among which the major attractions are Former Residence of Conqueror Xiangyu, Qianlong’s Palace, and Sanzhuang Grave in Han Dynasty, Hongze Lake, Luoma Lake and Hongze Lake Wetland Natural Protection Zone.Climatic Features: Enjoying a warm temperate monsoon climate, the city has superior light and heat resources.It has clear four seasons and adequate rainfall, with an annual average temperature of 14.2C(58F).Generally, the temperature during a year may range from-8C(17.6F)to 36.5C(97.7F).When to Go: every May to October of a year

5.Tujia is one of the 56 minority people in China, they call themselves “Bizivkar”.The totem of Tujia is a white tiger.I am a tujia.6.This page shows Traditional Clothes, Songs and Dances, Tujia people and Miao people commonly wear clothes made of self-dyed clothes, often in blue and cyan.Both men and women wear headdresses.7.We have some famous folk songs like: Dragon Boat Melody(龙船调),Huang Sijie(黄四姐), Orange Tree(柑子树).And some famous dances like: Arms-swaying Dance(摆手舞),Sa’er He撒尔嗬 or Drum-beating Funeral Dance, Wooden Bench Dragon Dance板凳龙舞, Nuo opera傩戏).8.We have a lot of special Custom and Festivals of Tujia People.It known as “Tujia Valentine’s Day”.9.Tujia women will perform a ritual of wedding called “kujia”, literally “crying marriage”.It is the most passionate cultural feature in the ritual of wedding of Tujia people.10.This is a celebration called “Offering Rice Wine” of Tujia people to welcome a newborn to their family.11.Sa’er He,also known as Drum-beating Funeral Dance,is performed during funerals.It reflects the simple view on life of Tujia people.12.Now we move to the third part: Scenery.Enshi has typical karst landform with rare stones, clear water, high mountains and peaks covered with green trees.13.This is Enshi Grand canyon with very amazing views.14.This is Enshi Tusi City.This is the main entrance.This is the old wall around the city to keep people safe.There are a lot of picture or statues of white tiger totum in the city.15.This is famous scenic spot of enshi ,Flying Dragon Cave.There are hills inside caves and also caves inside hills.Water Cave is linked with Dry the cave.It is one of the world’s super caves, ranking the 1st in Asia.16.Shennong Stream originated from the south of Shennongjia and end into Yangtze river.It names the small Three gorges(小三峡)17.Those are boat trackers（纤夫）in this stream, usually naked.As the ship can hardly stop here, so the trackers are necessary.Maybe all over in china, just here exists the boat tracker.18.When you go along this river, you can see very beautiful scenery.19.When you are in Enshi, you will also be attracted by its local delicious food.Most famous one is Local bacon.20.the most famous bean-residue is that with minced meat in Zhangguan of Xuan’ en county.it smells great and tastes delicious.21.Fermented Chili Pepper with Cornmeal is a kind of pickle for Tujia people, appears in sallow but smells good, often cooked with bacon;cooked with much oil but not greasy.22.There are many other delicious food in Enshi,like the pictures showed.23.There are still many funny things in my hometown, so welcome to Enshi, and learn more by yourself.

Now, Maybe you know the topic of my speech.Yes, I will introduce Suzhou to all of you.I am living there from my birth.Suzhou is in the province of Jiangsu, China.Suzhou is an ancient city with a long history.Built in 514 BC, Numerous changes have taken place in Suzhou through its vast history.Yet, in spite of repeated devastation, the city is still seated exactly on the original site as it was 2500 years ago, which is indeed an instance rarely found in the world.The unique characteristics of the past are still retained in present-day Suzhou.Suzhou has the remnants of this culture include the remainders of the 2,500 year old wall and the gate.From which, you can discover the legends of Suzhou and its people.In the course of the history of China, it has been a metropolis of industry and commerce in the south-eastern coast of China.Now the city is the first of 24 historical and cultural cities, China's key tourist cities, but also four key environmental protection cities in China。

Suzhou is conveniently located on the Jinghu Railway linking Shanghai and Nanjing, to both of which there is hourly railway service.Suzhou Railway Station is among the busiest passenger stations in China, having 139 trains stopping daily.T-Trains only take 45 minutes to Shanghai and an hour and half to Nanjing.Suzhou is located in water net, street according to river and then set up, the land-and-water proceeds together;you can find the special appearance of the small bridges, flowing water, the old-fashioned houses, the beautiful lakes with undulating hills.All these give Suzhou an image of City on the water.There is little pollution.Air is fresh and street is clean.Suzhou is famous as a scenic tourist city.The city is renowned for its beautiful stone bridges, pagodas, the classic gardens, silks, lakes, legends and so on, there is so much more!From natural and man-made heritage to modern creations;from cultural gems to natural oases;from great arts to daily lives, nothing is missed.Suzhou has also been an important center for China's silk industry, and continues to hold that prominent position today.You could pay a visit to the silk factories to see how the silk is produced.There are many of the famous private gardens.However, the city was to see a disaster in 1937 when the Japanese invaded.Many gardens were devastated by the end of the war.In 1981, this ancient city was listed by the State Council where the protection of historical and cultural heritage as well as natural scenery should be treated as a priority project.Since then, with suburban economic projects, Suzhou has developed into one of the most prosperous cities in China.Classical gardens in Suzhou were added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997 and 2000.Now, these gardens are together the best of traditional Chinese architecture, painting and arts.These Gardens are celebrated for their artistic ways of dealing with the spaces between various kinds of architectural form.It is these pounds(围地鱼塘)that serve to focus the many elements of the garden within a small space.These gardens are fine examples showing how the natural landscape both inside and outside could be merged.The gardens are truly wonderful in design.It is open on all sides to the garden and many other pavilions, rockeries, and winding bridges.Come on!I urge you to dig a little deeper, and experience classic Suzhou.I believe the city’s fantastic features and classic lifestyle is unmatched in China.It is worth visiting and experiencing.I wish you can choose the city as your vacation destination.
