May 23, 2011 is doomed to be a trouble making day for Tsinghua University, as on this very day, the original No.4 Teaching Building was renamed Jeanwest Building.Next to the new name plate is a brief introduction to Jeanwest’s Company Profile.Jeanwest is a famous garment brand in China and surely, this time it has donated a lot of money for such kind of unusual advertisement.With such logic of university-business cooperation, we can well expect other buildings on the campus of the revered university to be named after Jissbon(a condom maker), Naobeijin(a disreputable melatonin maker)and Fuyanjie(a gynecologic disease medicine maker).My answer to this stinky commercials in universities is NO.Universities, not ordinary supermarkets for sales, are certainly not the right place to do business.Some may well argue that since universities need money and companies need advertisement, this is totally OK as both of them have reached agreement.No!Tsinghua Universities, as other universities in China, are the sacred shrines for scholarship and knowledge study, universities of the people and benchmarks of China’s higher education.The values are actually the values of Chinese elites.These values will certainly have great impact on the general public.If money has got the final say in universities, then money worship will be overwhelming in the society.Some may argue that this is just a change of a building’s name, and it causes no big harm.No!This is clearly not just a small change of a name.In my eyes, it is invasion of money worship into our minds.We have suffered a lot from money worship and we see universities as our last refuge, and a place to cultivate upright and noble values.We want to keep universities free of the stink of money.Albert Einstein once said that universities are the most important places to pass the traditional wealth from one generation on to the next generation.The “wealth” he mentioned is certainly not the wealth Jeanwest has donated.It is the traditional moral and spiritual wealth.Education is not just a way to material wealth, but a way to spiritual sublimation.The brisk and clean campuses shall always keep those hateful flies out.As a matter of fact, the nameplate of Jeanwest was established overnight, with no opinions collected from or publicity to teachers and students.A few of people have snatched away the voting rights of most of the teachers and students.This is not fair enough.If the opinions of the public were heard, such a farce would have been avoided.Democracy on campus gives birth to rationality.I am glad to hear that the nameplate of Jeanwest has been “stolen” by some guy.That is good news.My feeling is just as how Mr.Lu Xun felt on hearing the collapse of Pagoda Leifeng.Such symbolic nameplate of money invasion into universities shall never been seen again.The more friends you get on line, the fewer friends you will have around you

Unavoidably, it is a tendency to make friends online as the Internet and computers are more popular nowadays.However, I don’t think it is good to make more and more online friends while losing contacts with our old friends around us.It is true that nowadays, more and more people are busy with their work or study, and therefore become reluctant to make friends with those people they meet in real life.Especially for young people, many of them like to make friends on line, because they think it’s interesting to know a stranger through the Internet.The advantage of making friends online is that we can have contact with various sorts of people.Furthermore, it is so easily accessible and convenient that anyone who has a computer can do it.As a matter of fact, and to our disappointment, only a few of them have succeeded in getting a real good friend in this way.On the other hand, some people are distracted from their work or study because they spend too much time online.Having an on-line friendship is never easy because of the time and space between the two parties involved.There will be a bond between the two only after some time has passed.Friendship takes time like in real life, while loyalty, trust and good communication is important.We take chances on people we meet on line.We do it on line sometime because we are adventurous at heart and want to take a chance.The Internet is a sword with two blades.It brings our essay access to the colorful outside world, and it may also bring us danger.Apart from time-consuming, the security of making on-line friends is not guaranteed.Most of the people trying to make friends on line have been cheated.To our utmost surprise, some of them have committed crimes with their friends on line.The balance is the most important.Being obsessed with it can result in severe consequences.But if you know nothing about it, you don’t keep on with the pace of the era.So we should be careful of making friends on line.We’d better pay more attention to our “real” friends around us, while spend limited time and energy looking for on-line high-quality friends.In addition, caution should be made both online and in reality.
