Part-time Job or Not
There’s no doubt that more and more students in universitiestake part-time jobs.As a result, it has became a heating topic amongcollege students that“Do you have part-time jobs during theweekends?” “What part-time jobs do you do?”
While some people are fond of part-time jobs and think it brings a lot of benefits, others hold the opinion that it is a waste of time. From my point of view, its benefits are evident in a host of ways. The most important, it offers us a variety of opportunities to contact with different people and deal with different things. Therefore our ability in many aspects will be greatly improved. Moreover, during the process of part-time jobs, we learn of how to apply the knowledge we learn in class into practice. In this way, we can not only do the job well and gain a feeling of achievement but also learn better in class.Plus, our life will be greatly fulfilled and become more wonderful with such practice.Last, we can be economically independent and reduce the burden of our family, which means a lot especially for students from poor families. However, if one fails to pay attention to the balance between their jobs and study, it is liable for them to fall behind others in study. After all, study comes first. But taking all the advantages and disadvantages into consideration, we can easily draw the conclusion that part-time jobs bring us more benefits than harms. As long as we deal with the time correctly between work and study, we can derive more than what we expect from it.
Every Field Counts
Maybe everyone in our school who loves sports or often goes to the sports center to do sports is puzzled by one question: we cannot play there even if there are lots of vacant fields if we don’t buy a ticket. You know.I’m a sports lover, especially ping-pong and badminton. So I always go to play them with friends.Every time we must buy the ticket ahead of time. When it comes to holidays such as National Day, there would be less people playing in it since many students have gone home or gone out to have other activities such as hiking, barbecue, KTV or others. At this time, there will be many empty fields in the sports center.According to the sense, we should be admitted to play there without buying a ticket.Because the purpose of the stadium is to encourage students to take part in sports and keep healthy.Though our school gives 100 yuan as sports funds to each student per term, we will use it up so quickly and it’s far more from our request. Then why prevent us sports lovers from exercising even if there exist empty fields? Doesn’t it go against its aims?
To undo this problem, I suggest that our school should change some strategies.First, we can distribute the sports funds according to how often a student take part in sports and how much they like to do sports.Because as I know, some students seldom do sports and thus their funds are wasting.Second, permit sports lovers to play in the stadium free of charge while there are free fields.Third, as student are not willing to use their own money to buy tickets after they use up their sports funds, so we can adopt a 1-5 or 1-10 rates to charge.Only in this way can we make good use of the stadium and make our campus a vigorous and harmonious one.
As soon as I stepped into college, I found there is a huge difference between high school and college. It is an allowance that students can select their own lecturers for certain courses in college, which is impossible in high school apparently. When choosing a teacher, several factors should be taken into consideration. On the one hand, a learned teacher is preferred. After all, for a student, studying is given full priority.A teacher with plentiful knowledge can ease the burden of study for many students and provide them with many opportunities for enlarging their scope of knowledge, while at the same time, realizing their potentials. On the other hand, a teacher with a clear and humorous teaching style is favorable. To large extent, whether a lecture is welcomed or not is depended on the way of delivering rather than its content. No one can deny that interesting interaction is far more enjoyable than monologue.Nevertheless, just as the proverb goes, everything is a double-edged sword, including choosing teachers for students. In fact, the factors that students consider might not be the ones that lead to the highest quality of education.Schools might end up with lecturers whose classes are joyful but without much content.
A great change is now taking place in higher education throughout our country.Teachers are being held responsible as never before for how well they serve their students. It has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students. But, there are kinds of ideas about this topic. Some are in favor of the rating system. They think that it is a good way to correct a teacher.Others, on the contrary, are strongly against it.They think that students“ rating is easy to administer and score, but it also is easy to abuse.Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials used are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject. As far as I am concerned, students’ rating of their teachers is quirt right, but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers’ performance.Instead of rating the teachers” knowledge on the subject, students should be asked to estimate what they themselves have learned in a course, and to report on such things as a teacher’s ability to communicate with students, his relationship with students, and his ability to arouse interest in the subject.
A great change is now taking place in higher education throughout our country.Teachers are being held responsible as never before for how well they serve their students. It has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students. In some universities students' rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness.
This, however, has caused great controversy. Some are in favor of the rating system. They hold that since students attend the teachers classes everyday, they should have their opinion about their teachers' effectiveness.Others, on the contrary, are strongly against it.They think that students' rating is easy to administer and score, but it also is easy to abuse. They believe that there is much more to teaching than what is shown on students' rating forms.Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials used are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject. These judgments require professional knowledge, which is best left for the teachers' colleagues.
I think students' rating of their teachers is necessary, but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers' performance.Instead of rating the teachers' knowledge on the subject, students should be asked to estimate what they themselves have leaned in a course, and to report on such things as a teacher's ability to communicate with students, his relationship with students, and his ability to arouse interest in the subject.
Nowadays, it has become as common in colleges and universities for students to grade teachers as for teachers to grade students. In some universities students’ rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness.
This, however, has caused great controversy. Some are in favor of the rating system, They hold that since students attend the teachers’ classes every day, they should have their opinion about their teachers’ effectiveness.Others, on the contrary, are strongly against it.They believe that there is much more to teaching than what is shown on students’ rating forms.Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials they use are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject. These judgments require professional knowledge, which is best left for the teachers’ colleagues.
I think students’ rating of their teachers is necessary, but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers’ performance.Instead of rating the teachers’ knowledge on the subject, students should be asked to estimate what they have learned in a course, and to report on such things as a teacher’s ability to communicate with students, his or her relationship with students, and his or her ability to arouse students’ interest in the subject.
Should Teachers Be Evaluated by Students?
Teachers often get a chance to evaluate their students. Now the situation has changed.Schools allow students to evaluate the work of their teachers. This causes discussions about whether teachers should be evaluated by students. The views vary from person to person, and I prefer to say yes to this act because it provides a good way for teachers to learn their disadvantages and improve the quality of teaching.
Firstly, it’s a good way for students to express their opinions about teachers and lectures. From the expression, teachers can learn their advantages and disadvantages, which is important to improve their teaching skills.Secondly, students often evaluate teachers by doing some questionnaires, which are questions and selections on the paper, ranging from teachers skills to homework arrangement.Teachers can get much useful information from these questionnaires.Besides, the evaluated result will be submitted to school leaders who will judge whether the teacher is qualified or not. Finally, students will be motivated to pay more attention during classes and to listen to lectures more regularly, since they will be asked to give their own opinions about what they’ve heard.Of course, when students do the evaluations, they should be objective and impartial so that the evaluated result can be more useful and persuasive.
From what has been discussed above, we may confidently come to conclusion that teachers should be evaluated by students.
Enthusiasm
As the dictionary described, enthusiasm is great eagerness to be involved in a particular activity that you like and enjoy or that you think is important. As far as I’m concerned, enthusiasm is something to encourage us to run fast and bravely ,just like the power or passion.I still remember what my mom said 5 years ago,the time when I went to the high school.“My daughter, be enthusiastic!enthusiasm will take you further than any amount of experience.” From that time,I know, enthusiasm is the power that can turn a boring drive into an adventure, extra work into opportunity and strangers into friends.“nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson.it is the paste that helps you hang in there when the going gets tough.it is the inner voice that whispers, “i can do it!” when others shout, “no, you can't.”
we need to live each moment wholeheartedly, with all our senses--finding pleasure in the fragrance of a back-yard garden, the crayoned picture of a six-year-old, the enchanting beauty of a rainbow.it is such enthusiastic love of life that puts a sparkle in our eyes, a lilt in our steps and smooths the wrinkles from our souls.
