很多时候知道去哪里比去的过程更为艰难，考研也是如此。当你来到考研候车亭前就意味着你已经有了新的方向，将要开始新的人生旅途。英语本科生报考与英语相关的研究生意味着走一条轻车熟路，英语语言文学、外国语言学及应用语言学是最通常的选择。

至今，全国拥有英语专业硕士点的高校已达220所之多。万学海文考研调研员对武汉大学、华中师范大学、武汉理工大学、华中科技大学、华中农业大学、中国地质大学(武汉)、湖北大学、中南民族大学英语方向最近两届的一些研究生的进行了采访，以了解他们考研过程中的基本情况。

从所报考的专业来看，大部分人都选择与翻译相关的方向报考，而选择文学和语言学方向的学生大多是因为对这一专业感兴趣。同时，翻译学方向的同学都认为考研过程十分艰辛，而文学和语言学则相对容易，考取的可能性也比较大。此外，还有少数同学选择了对外汉语、国际贸易之类的英语相关专业。大部分英语相关专业的研究生都是本科就读英语专业的考生，且本科阶段基础比较扎实。2010年考取北京第二外国语学院外国语言学及应用语言学专业的女生小杨说：“我比较喜欢英语，而且底子还不错，但之所以报考语言学专业，有很重要的原因是不用考数学。” 提及对2012年的考生有什么建议时，中南民族大学的一位研究生表示：“英语专业的同学还是跨专业考研比较好，因为英语能与其他专业结合起来能为我们提供很好的就业机会，比如跨考旅游、管理、广告、商务英语或对外汉语方面等专业的研究生就很不错”。如今很多院校招生翻译硕士(MTI)，在职考研的考生不妨考虑一下。

目前英语专业考研的辅导班并不多，建议大家还是要选择参加正规、成熟机构的考研辅导班。武汉大学语言学的唐宁认为，长期坐着看书的中途能够上上辅导班，至少可以改变下学习方式，换一种心情。在基础英语的复习上，小杨认为“这个复习情况应该看个人的英语底子，我自己应该先把真题做一遍，然后按照各个题型做专项训练”。至于专业课的参考书，很多同学都提到如果没有推荐书目，一定要选择最权威的教材。华中师范大学的叶洋同学认为有些英文原版教材实在难度太大，万学海文考研辅导专家们建议买中文参考书一起看，可以节省时间。

在复习过程中，不同的人会遇到不同的困难。小杨认为最困难的是“基础英语的阅读理解，这次考试他就砸在上面了”。华中科技大学的一位同学则认为他最大的难度是综合英语不知道如何去准备复习，涉及的面太广，不好把握。湖北大学的邓同学说了一些细节问题，说到名词解释和作家作品很难记忆，作家的名字狂练了很多遍。其他很多同学都提到关于二外的问题，一些学校第二外语开设特别晚，万学海文建议想考研的同学能及早接触第二外语，比如报读辅导班，然后自己学习，一方面可以提高二外的成绩，同时复习阶段时间也比较充沛。很多考生在考研复习过程中同时也面临“专八”的复习，基础英语和“专八”有一定的共同之处，建议可以把这两个整合起来一起复习。

一些同学还分享了他们考研成功的一些经验。通常考得好的同学一般特别有规律性，比如早上听听力，8点钟复习专业课，9点半开始复习政治，什么时候练习阅读，什么时候练习写作„„复习有很强的计划性。此外，英语复习时找一位同伴也是可行的。基础英语很多人都强调“基础”，到到了正式复习时，常见的办法是做专题训练和做真题;第二外语需要多花时间，提高的空间也较大;专业课要注意看书然后整理笔记，画框架、列图表，好好利用真题，争取做一些有针对性的练习。

Ø 路线图

考研的历程中，首先应知道有哪些专业可供选择，犹如出行前应该看清路线图一样，需要在心中勾勒出清晰的路线。涉及英语专业的二级学科主要有3个：英语语言文学、外国语言学及应用语言学、翻译学。实际上，许多学校把翻译学归并到前两者之中。如果再继续划分研究方向，各个院校的情况又不尽相同。不论其方向名称有多么不同，分类如何细致，我们从研究的实质上把英语语言文学方向归纳为：语言学、文学、翻译学、英美文化研究、英语教学。

方向一：语言学

语言学规律并没有想象中深奥，这里所说的语言学一般指英语语言学，当然英语专业学生考汉语语言学、日语语言学、德语语言学等也是可行的，这就得看考生的第二外语水平。绝大部分招收英语专业研究生的院校都开设有英语语言学方向，从其分支来看，包括语用学研究、英语语法研究、句法学、语义学、语音学、音系学、形态学、修辞学等;语言学的研究同社会学、心理学等人文学科的结合并形成了社会语言学、心理语言学、人类学语言学、数理语言学;把语言学的理论引进到语言教学中又形成了对比语言学、认知语言学、语料库语言学、应用语言学等。此外还包括对语言和文化两者相互关系的研究。

虽然语言学属于基本理论的研究，读书、做研究、写论文是最正统的出路，但是这并不适合每一个人，适当地调适、转向才能更好地发展自己。比如英语语法研究可以向比较高层次的笔译转向，修辞学研究可以向文学研究甚至文学作品翻译转向，如果想向教师方向发展，万学海文建议考生平时应加强英语教学法知识的掌握和教学技能的训练。

方向二：文学

文学方向实际上包含很多小方向，最主要的是英美文学，此外还有比较文学与世界文学、文学翻译等。全国绝大部分招收英语专业研究生的学校一般都开设英美文学专业。比较文学、世界文学致力于不同文化之间的理解、认识、比较，很多院校把这一专业开设在文学院而非外语学院。英美文学专业包含很多理论问题，如作者生平、思想内容、写作手法、文学流派、文学史发展的轨迹以及艺术特色等，进一步还有各个历史阶段的文学现象、本质和特征以及文学语言的基本概况、文艺批评思潮等，主要内容有英美文学史、英美小说、文艺理论等。学习文学没有捷径，文学方向的研究生在学习文学相关理论(如美学、文艺学、文学史等)之余就是大量阅读经典的文学作品，这种阅读同一般人的课外阅读差别很大，有时甚至会很艰苦。文学方向就业在英语各方向里面情况中等，所以学习文学一定要真正具有浓厚的兴趣和文学领悟能力。

方向三：翻译学

近年来，翻译学也发生了分化，不仅有“翻译学”方向，还有细化的口译、笔译、文学翻译、同声传译等很多方向。中国八大外语院校(北京外国语大学、上海外国语大学、西安外国语学院、广东外语外贸大学、大连外国语学院、天津外国语学院、四川外语学院(重庆)、北京第二外国语学院)开设有专门的翻译方向，其他的院校翻译属于小类别，包含在语言文学里面，一般选择对应的导师才会进入翻译方向。翻译方向是报考人数比较多的方向之一，从北京环球时代学校学员统计来看，30%的人准备报考翻译专业。

翻译学对英语专业学生的功底要求比较高，在研究生学习过程会有高强度的听说读写译等基本技能训练。不同的学校差别很大，一些办学实力偏弱的学校主要强调翻译史与翻译理论，但是一些重点学校特别是外语院校比较强调应用人才的培养，特别强调实践能力。笔译、口译和同声传译的学习难度也各不相同，难度依次为：笔译——口译——同声传译。

翻译方向硕士生有三条发展道路，一是提高个人专业能力，包括反应能力、变通能力、口语表达能力，向高级翻译人才发展，主要是成为一些大型活动、会议的翻译人才;一是听说读写并重，扩大知识面，有选择地学习教育、外事、外贸、科技翻译、新闻出版、广播影视、涉外企业、管理等方面的知识，向专门型应用型人才发展;一是个性化发展，不断提高自己的中文表达能力和英语运用能力后，再精通某个特长领域，如文学、电影、时尚等，成为有一定底蕴的笔译人才或从事教学科研工作。
