Let’s stand up from where we fall down

All the celebrations welcoming the new century were hold in the year 2000, because life without a GREeting is like the sky without the sun.Greetings are very important for the whole world,in my opinion.But I don't know whether GREetings are enough for us.Especially when we meet with failures.I remember quite clearly that when I was a child,if I fall down and was on the brink of crying,my father always told me“Please stand up from where you fall down!”

Yes,we must stand up from where we fall down.That was a special mid night in 1993.Expectations filled our hearts.We stared at the TV,hoping excitedly as the voice would fly to our ears.But at last,each Chinese who loves our motherland was distressed to know the result:Beijing ,lost to Sydeny by a margin of two votes in the Olympic hosting competition.Eight years have past,but the frustration has not healed with time at all.Now,at the begining of the new millennium,all of the pride and disappointment of the 20th century had gone with the wind.The 21st century,which is full of hope,longing znd thought has come.Someone said,we would start from zero on.Should I really start from zero on?

No!I hold that we should go on with our efferts and ambitions stayed by last century,and make our life better.“New Beijing,GREat Olympics!” The voice cries this out around China's captital,a 3,000-year-old city these days.Beijing,along with Paris,Istanbul,Osake and Toronto,has been shortlisted by the International Olympic Committee as an official candidate city for the 2008 Olympic Games.This is Beijing's second attempt to host the games.Everyone fully supports Beijing's bid for it.Maybe,we can paint fences along the main roads of Beijing.Maybe,we can make much of yhe city cleaned up.Maybe,we can learn and speak basic English idioms and expressions for daily communication.But,but are they just enough?

Facing the new century,mankind is driven by the revolution of science and technoiogy,world economy is undergoing broud and profound changes.But nobody can deny the fact that compared with developed nations,developing countries are confronted with more pressure and challenges.In order to become famous in the world,we must speed up our international economic restructuring to catch up with industrialized nations.Supporting Beijing's bid is a systematic project that can support China'sdevelopment efforts.I believe recycled paper,clean fuel,sorted rubbish,water-saving and enery-efficient facilities will become reality in the coming years for China.I believe the new century is an era of learning ans teaching,and lifelong education has become one of the main trends in the future developmet of Chinese society.I believe that,on July 13,our dream of Beijing's Olympic bid will become true.Because to millions of Chinese,for China to have the gloal respect and support that she deserves is not just a dream.It is a part of our very souls.For we are not only equal members of our motherland, China,but we are also equal contributors to the world as a whole.Let us stand together,all nations in Beijing,in brotherhood,friendship and peace, in 2008 and forever!

As you slowly open your eyes, look around , notice where the light comes into your room;listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize;feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air.Yes, yes, yes, it's a new day, it's a different day, and it's a bright day!And most importantly, it is a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new desicisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented level!

In your mind's eye, you can see clearly the things you want to have, the paces you intend to go, the relationships you desire to develop, and the positions you aspire to reach.You can hear your laughters of joy and happiness on the day when everything happens as you dream.You can see the smiles on the people around you when the magic moment strikes.You can feel your face is getting red, your heart is beating fast, and your blood is rushing all over your body, to every single corner of your being!

You know all this is real as long as you are confident,passionate and committed!And you are confident, you are passionate, you are committed!

You will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial expressions, using your body in new ways,approaching new people, and asking new questions.You will live every single day of your life with absolute passion, and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you take.You will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of your life.You will never succumb to challenges of hardships.You will never waver in your pursuit of excellence.After all,you are the best, and you deserve the best!

As your coach and friend, I can assure you the door to all the best things in the world will open to you, but the key to that door is in your hand.You must do your part, you must faithfully follow the plans you make and take the actions you plan, you must never quit, you must never fear.I know you must do it, you can do it, you will do it, and you will succeed!Now stand firm and tall, make a fist, get excited, and yell it out:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.Today I want to tell you a story about one of my friends, a lovely and smart girl who is always ready to help others.Being our grade leader, she is good at both work and study.In many people's opinion, she is excellent and perfect.But one day she told me she was gloomy and insecure.People around her considered her outstanding and flawless, thinking she could handle everything.But the more she thought about herself, the more disappointed she became.She found that she was far from perfection.Last week, she didn’t do well in her French quiz, and the day before yesterday, she was late for a conference.She felt depressed and frustrated, because she failed to be a perfect girl without any mistakes.I was surprised to hear that for I thought she had every reason to be confident.However, the expectation of perfection has become a burden to her.I told her no one could be perfect and I suggested she find her own position.In fact, people are so eager to be perfect that they demand too much of themselves.They want to be special and unique, and they want to have no defects or weaknesses.However, we can never avoid mistakes and errors.It’s impossible for us to be a superman or a superwoman.No matter how successful we are, there are always some flaws.If we hold that everything should be perfect, we would be overcritical.My friend now has changed her attitude.She accepts her shortcomings but still keeps a positive outlook.She is even more active and doesn’t allow the mistakes to hinder her pursuit of excellence.And I think that’s the way we should be！That’s all.Thank you!

Honourable judges, ladies and gentlemen，Good afternoon!Today I would like to talk about the importance of keeping optimistic.When we encounter difficulties in life, we notice that some of us choose to bury their heads in the sand.Unfortunately, however, this attitude will do you no good, because if you will have no courage even to face them, how can you conquer them? Thus, be optimistic, ladies and gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, ―An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity;a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.‖

Ladies and Gentlemen, keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success.Historically as well as currently, there are too many optimists of this kind to enumerate.You see, Thomas Edison is optimistic;if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminate the whole world.Alfred Nobel is optimistic;if not, the explosives and the prestigious Nobel Prize would not have come into being.And Lance Armstrong is also optimistic;if not, the devil of cancer would have devoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the Tour De France.A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not;that depends on your attitude only, and so does success, so does life.Hindrances and difficulties do exist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your long way to the throne of success;they are more bridges than obstacles!Now I prefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: ―If winter comes, can spring be far behind?‖ Thank you!

Me and my Fears

Honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:

It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest.When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak.I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say.My fears had paralyzed me.While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public.When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said ―no.‖ I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience.He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart.I will never forget his words.―Look,‖ he said, ―We all have our fears, and you have yours.You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again.Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will.A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.‖

I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind.Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!

As it turned out, my dear old professor was right.Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone.My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears--and that makes all the difference!

all the celebrations welcoming the new century were hold in the year 2014, because life without a greeting is like the sky without the sun.greetings are very important for the whole world,in my opinion.but i don’t know whether greetings are enough for us.especially when we meet with failures.i remember quite clearly that when i was a child,if i fall down and was on the brink of crying,my father always told me”please stand up from where you fall down!”

yes,we must stand up from where we fall down.that was a special mid night in 1993.expectations filled our hearts.we stared at the tv,hoping excitedly as the

voice would fly to our ears.but at last,each chinese who loves our motherland was distressed to know the result:beijing ,lost to sydeny by a margin of two votes in the olympic hosting competition.eight years have past,but the frustration has not healed with time at all.now,at the begining of the new millennium,all of the pride and disappointment of the 20th century had gone with the wind.the 21st century,which is full of hope,longing znd thought has come.someone said,we would start from zero on.should i really start from zero on?

no!i hold that we should go on with our efferts and ambitions stayed by last century,and make our life better.”new beijing,great olympics!” the voice cries this out around china’s captital,a 3,000-year-old city these days.beijing,along with paris,istanbul,osake and toronto,has been

shortlisted by the international olympic committee as an official candidate city for the 2014 olympic games.this is beijing’s second attempt to host the games.everyone fully supports beijing’s bid for it.maybe,we can paint fences along the main roads of beijing.maybe,we can make much of yhe city cleaned up.maybe,we can learn and speak basic english idioms and expressions for daily communication.but,but are they just enough?

在21世纪的我们，学习英语已经是一门必修课了，如今为了加强学生的英语学习，英语氛围，形成一种英语无处不在的学习环境，同时也为了提高我院以其各个英语爱好者的综合能力，丰富学习课余文化活动，创建良好的校园文化氛围，因此，我们英语1+1 决定开展英语角活动,邀请我校广大英语爱好者一起学英语

二．活动目的：

〈1〉提高同学学习英语的积极性，特别是提高对英语口语训练的积极性。〈2〉丰富学生的课余生活。

〈3〉为学生提供一个学习和交流英语学习的平台，共同进步。〈4〉加深对英语口语的重要性的认识。

〈5〉通过举办活动，为广大英语

爱好者提供一个互相交流和学习的机会。〈〉让大学生体会英语的魅力，敢于说英语，敢于秀自己。

三、活动对象：柳职院全体英语爱好者

四、活动时间：2014年10月11日。19：00——21:30.五、活动地点：旧阶梯教室

七．活动前工作安排

1、宣传部：负责制作海报、横幅、写广播稿和新闻稿。

2、学习部：负责整个活动的摄影工作。

3、外事部：负责申请教室，租借相关设备。

4、秘书部：负责签到工作，购买活动用品。

5、文-体部：负责布置会场活动，座位的安排。

6、策划部：负责整个活动的策划和总结

1、活动时间安排

1、报名时间：10月8日——10月10日

2、报名地点：报给各部门的负责人，然后把人数汇报给主席团统计人数。

3、主持人的选定：比赛选男女主持人各一名。

4、评委：七个理事及会长们

5、对参赛选手的要求选手题目与大学生活，学习话题有关。要求演讲内容积极、健康、向上。举止大方，表现自然，与观众有目光交流。有适当的肢体语言。如有背景音乐，则自带。自备服装和道具。

2．演讲比赛

1、比赛规则、比赛以公平公正为原则，以丰富和活跃校园生活、促进交流与沟通为宗

旨，比赛一次性解决。、大赛分为自我介绍，演讲比赛，才艺展示三个环节。依据评委打分计

算出成绩，最后颁发一等奖、二等奖、三等奖和参与奖。

3、活动流程

一、活动步骤、主持人开场白、选手按照比赛具体步骤依次上台演讲和英语才艺展示。、评委点评，有七个理事和会长们点评、主持人宣布比赛成绩和名次、颁奖由会长发奖、活动参与者合影、主持人宣布活动结束、按照统一安排依次退场

二、比赛具体过程

第一个环节：选手简要作自我介绍，大约每人1分钟，由评委打分。第二个环节：演讲总分50分。选手依次上台演讲，大约每人五分钟。第三个环节：才艺展示总分30分。

第四个环节：演讲结束后，由评委作总评。并依据比赛成绩宣布各参赛选手成

绩。

三．具体评分细则 ：

●仪表形象：

1）着装整齐，大方得体。

2）姿态自然，动作适度。

●演讲内容：

3）主题鲜明，符合主题内容。

4）内容充实，事例动人，贴近生活，富有鲜明的时代感。

5）行文流畅，用词精练，详略得当。

●语言艺术：

6）发音标准，流利。

7）节奏处理得当，技巧运用自如。

8）表现力、应变能力强，能活跃气氛，引起高潮.(10分）

●评分规则：

评委明确给出每部分评分，由工作人员进行最后加总，去掉最高分与最低分，取平均分为选手比赛成绩，按成绩排名分别获一、二、三等奖。

八.颁奖：

比赛结束后，有会长团上台按由低到高的顺序颁发获奖证书和奖品

九．注意事项

1、活动开始前各负责人做好签到、接待工作，主持人提前做好准备。

2、观众到指定区域就坐，并注意现场纪律。活动过程中，要保持安静，认真听演讲。

3、评分要严格按照评分标准进行
