I have determined that I am living in a television sitcom(情景喜剧).It started back in November when my wife’s sister and her husband sold their house.They have been building a nice new home.They quickly sold their former house, but this meant they would be without a home for nearly three months.So my wife offered to let them move in with us for a few months.Thus, my wife’s sister and her husband have become our house-guests.Of course, most of my friends didn’t think this was a good thing at the beginning, but I was cheerfully confident.I like my wife’s sister, her husband and their daughters, who are cute.We all get along pretty well.My wife and her sister have always been best friends even when my life becomes a sitcom with the total chaos(混乱), because we have eight people and an insolent(傲慢的)cat living under one roof.My house used to be a fairly quiet place.It was nice to come home after work, take my shoes off and enjoy a relaxing dinner with the family.Now it becomes a day-care center and an amusement park.We call the period between 8 pm and 9 pm, when the kids make beds for the night, “Happy Hour”.My kitchen has become a 24-hour dining-room.With four adults, two youngsters, two babies and the cat, there are always dirty dishes and something cooking on the stove.Sometimes we have one large dinner together when our schedules allow.Other times, my guests may serve one dinner, me another when I get home, and my wife a third dinner when she arrives home.By the time the third dinner of the evening is served, it’s time to prepare bedtime snacks.The basic rule is, “If you don’t help cook it, you don’t help eat it.”
Just like in a sitcom, my wife and I usually end the day giggling(哈哈大笑)about the interesting things that occur during a “normal” day, like babies chasing the cat through the kitchen, or the cat running after babies through the kitchen.I’ve never had a sister, but now I can honestly say that my wife’s sister is mine.

It must have been about two in the morning when I returned home.I tried to wake up my wife by ringing the door-bell, but she was fast asleep, so I got a ladder from the shed in the garden, put it against the wall, and began climbing towards the bedroom window.I was almost there when a sarcastic voice below said,' I don't think the windows need cleaning at this time of the night.' 我第一次吃荔枝，是28岁的时候。那是十几年前，我刚到北京，家中只有孤零零的老母。站在荔枝摊儿前，脚挪不动步。那时，北京很少见到这种南国水果，时令一过，不消几日，再想买就买不到了。想想活到28岁，居然没有尝过荔枝的滋味，再想想母亲快70岁的人了，也从来没有吃过荔枝呢！虽然一斤要好几元，挺贵的，咬咬牙，还是掏出钱买了一斤。那时，我刚在郊区谋上中学老师的职，衣袋里正有当月42元半的工资，硬邦邦的，鼓起几分胆气。我想让母亲尝尝鲜，她一定会高兴的。
回到家，还没容我从书包里掏出荔枝，母亲先端出一盘沙果。这是一种比海棠大不了多少的小果子，居然每个都长着疤，有的还烂了皮，只是让母亲一一剜声去了疤，洗得干干净净。每个沙果都显得晶光透亮，沾着晶莹的水珠，果皮上红的纹络显得格外清晰。不知老人家洗了几遍才洗成这般模样。我知道这一定是母亲买的处理水果，每斤顶多5分或者1角。居家过日子，老人就是这样一辈子过来了。
我拿了一个沙果塞进嘴里，连声说真好吃，又明知故问多少钱一斤，然后不住口说真便宜——其实，母亲知道那是我在安慰她而已，但这样的把戏每次依然让她高兴。趁着她高兴的劲儿，我掏出荔枝：“妈！今儿我给您也买了好东西。”母亲一见荔枝，脸立刻沉了下来：“你财主了怎么着？这么贵的东西，你……”我打断母亲的话：“这么贵的东西，不兴咱们尝尝鲜！”母亲扑哧一声笑了，筋脉突兀的手不停地抚摸着荔枝，然后用小拇指甲盖划破荔枝皮，小心翼翼地剥开皮又不让皮掉下，手心托着荔枝，像是托着一只刚刚啄破蛋壳的小鸡，那样爱怜地望着舍不得吞下，嘴里不住地对我说：“你说它是怎么长的？怎么红皮里就长着这么白的肉？”毕竟是第一次吃，毕竟是好吃！母样竟像孩子一样高兴。
那一晚，正巧有位老师带着几个学生突然到我家做客，望着桌上这两盘水果有些奇怪。也是，一盘沙果伤痕累累，一盘荔枝玲珑剔透，对比过于鲜明。说实话，自尊心与虚荣心齐头并进，我觉得自己仿佛是那盘丑小鸭般的沙果，真恨不得变戏法一样把它一下子变走。母亲端上茶来，笑吟吟顺手把沙果端走，那般不经意，然后回过头对客人说：“快尝尝荔枝吧！”说得那般自然、妥贴。
母亲很喜欢吃荔枝，但是她舍不得吃，每次都把大个的荔枝给我吃。以后每年的夏天，不管荔枝多贵，我总是要买上一两斤，让母亲尝尝鲜。荔枝成了我家一年一度的保留节目，一直延续到三年前母亲去世。母亲去世前是夏天，正赶上荔枝刚上市。我买了好多新鲜的荔枝，皮薄核小，鲜红的皮一剥掉，白中泛青的肉蒙着一层细细的水珠，仿佛跑了多远的路，累得张着一张张汗津津的小脸。是啊，它们整整跑了一年的长跑，才又和我们阔别重逢。我感到慰藉的是，母亲临终前一天还吃到了水灵灵的荔枝，我一直信为是天命，是母亲善良忠厚一生的报偿。如果荔枝晚几天上市，我迟几天才买，那该是何等的遗憾，会让我产生多少无法弥补的痛楚。
其实，我错了。自从家里添了小孙子，母亲便把原来给儿子的爱分给孙子一部分。我忽略了身旁小馋猫的存在，他再不用熬到28岁才能尝到荔枝，他还不懂得什么叫珍贵，什么叫舍不得，只知道想吃便张开嘴巴。母亲去世很久，我才知道母亲临终前一直舍不得吃一颗荔枝，都给了她心爱的太馋嘴的小孙子吃了。
而今，荔枝依旧年年红。

石缝间的生命

石缝间倔强的生命，常使我感动得潸然泪下。
是那不定的风把无人采撷的种子撒落海角天涯吧。尽管他们也能从阳光中分享到温暖，从雨水里得到滋润，但惟有那一切生命赖以生存的土壤却要自己去寻找。它们面对着的现实是多么严峻啊！
于是大自然出现了惊人的奇迹，不毛的石缝间丛生了倔强的生命。
或者，只是一簇一簇无名的野草，春绿秋黄，岁岁枯荣。它们没有办法生长宽阔的叶子，因为寻找不到足够的营养，它们有的只是三两片长长的细瘦薄叶，细微的叶脉诉说着生存是多么艰难；甚至，它们竟在一簇簇细瘦的叶子下长出根须，很少向母体吮吸点乳汁，然后自去找那不易被觉察到的石缝。
这就是生命。
生命的本能是多么尊贵，生命有权辉煌壮丽，生机竟是这样的不可抑制。
或者，就是一团团小小的山花，石缝间的蒲公英因山风的凶狂而不能长出高高的躯干。因山石的贫瘠而不能拥有众多的叶片，它们的茎显得坚韧而苍老，叶因枯萎而失却光泽，只有根竟似强固的筋条，仿佛柔中带刚的藤蔓，深埋在石缝狭隘的间隙里，默默成为攀登者可靠的抓绳。
生命就是这样被环境限制着，又被环境改变着，适者生存的规律尽管无情，但生命原本就是拼搏。
而最令人赞叹的是，石缝间还生长着参天的松柏，雄伟苍劲、巍峨挺拔。它们使高山有了灵气，一切生命在它们面前都显得苍白逊色。它们的躯干顽强地从石缝长出来，向上，向上，向上是多么的艰难，扭转地，旋转地，每一寸树皮都结着伤疤。每长一寸都要经过几度寒暑，几度春秋。然而它们终于伸展开了繁茂的枝干，团簇着永不（变色？）的针叶。它们耸立在悬崖断壁、高山峻岭，盘根错节地从一个石缝间扎进去，又从另一个石缝间钻出来，像犀利的鹰爪抓住了栖身的岩石。
有时，一株松柏的根须竟要爬满半壁山崖，似把累累的山石用一根粗绳紧紧缚住，由此才能迎击狂风暴雨的侵袭，才能为自己占有一片天地。
如果一切生命都不屑于去石缝寻求立足的天地，那么，世界上将会有一大片的地方成为永远的死寂。飞鸟无处栖身，生命将要绝迹。而如果一切生命都只贪恋于黝黑的沃土，它们又如何完备自己驾驭环境的能力，在一代一代的繁衍中，变得愈加坚强呢？
愿一切生命都敢于去寻求最艰苦的环境。生命正是要在最困厄的境遇中，才能发现自己、认识自己，从而才能锤炼自己、彰显自己、最后完成自己、升华自己。
石缝间顽强的生命具有如此震慑人的力量，它使地球变得神奇辉煌，更揭示了壮丽的心灵世界。
