名作引路

留下一片绿洲 口周慕风

在阿拉伯的迪拜市时，我经常被邀请到一个酋长家中去做客。酋长很热情，每次总是亲自开着他的那辆老式吉普车来接我。

有一回，我们开着车有说有笑地行驶在泥土路上。路旁都是沙子，有点泥坦露出来已经很不错了。行驶中途，酋长突然刹住了吉普车。我以为有什么人要横穿马路，我向车周围看看，根本没有人，甚至连一只动物也没有。我问酋长停车的原因。

“你没有看到车下有一片绿洲吗?”酋长边说边做了一个表示很大的动作。

看到我惊愕的样子，酋长开始向后倒车。

我睁大眼睛，哪里有什么绿洲，有的只是一棵草。不过草挺鲜挺绿的，在风中瑟瑟发抖，像是受到了惊吓。我迷惑地看着酋长，希望他再进一步解释。

“它很快会成为一片绿洲的!”酋长走下车愉快地为那棵草浇点水然后自信地告诉我。

我毫不在乎地耸耸肩。

以后每次我们经过那里时，酋长总要为那棵草浇点水，然后绕过它开过去。酋长的领土根本没有多少绿洲，放眼望去，只是满眼的沙子，荒芜得连草都很少。我开始觉得酋长有些无聊。

几年后，当我再次旅行到阿拉伯时，酋长热情地邀我去参观刚刚建成的绿洲，而巧合的是这绿洲正是那棵小草的所在地。

“这真是那棵小草生成的绿洲?”我吃惊地问酋长。他笑而不语。

后来，我才知道那些花草树木是酋长专门从外地买来种上的，苦心经营几年，终于有了现在的规模。据说，每棵草每棵树的根下都有一个提供水源的罐子，我总觉那罐子里盛的不是别的，正是酋长的心血与汗水。

绿洲踞在金黄色的沙漠上。蓊郁的树，浓厚的香，甘甜的水，清亮的鸟鸣。这沙漠中的绿洲，洗去跋涉者的疲劳，为饥渴的路人奉出食物和水，为远行的游客提供休息的处所，为迷失路途的流浪者指引方向。它是生活的供给处，精神的驿站。

我开始理解酋长的良苦用心。

留下一片绿洲，在别人的心里留下一片绿洲。无树，无草，无水，不会太奢侈。但有树的荫凉，草的馨绿，水的清柔，有鸟语花香，有林轩草动。在别人的心里留下一片绿洲，犹如遇到困难时的援助，受伤后的慰藉，挫折中的鼓励。一张写满激情的字条，一个温柔的眼神，一番温馨的话语，为一个沙漠中的可怜人带来清凉与希望。

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life.With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth.He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power.Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results.Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet.Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles.Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside.The pollution of water is equally harmful.The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before.As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide.Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment.Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.人和环境
