当然,英语游戏多种多样,例如,听命令做动作,根据特征描述猜人物等。只要我们处处留心,善于动脑,在教学中多创设一些游戏情境,这样不但能激发学生的兴趣,还能培养学生的创造性思维能力。
第二、利用多媒体教学手段 ,创设直观情景。
巴班斯基认为：“创设必要的教学物质基础，显然是有效地和高质量地发挥教育教学过程的条件。”计算机的信息存贮量大、处理迅速，具有方便的人机交互功能。在新课程的教学中，借助多媒体技术特别是把网络技术与课堂教学联系起来，用多媒体课件把声音、文字、图形、图像、动画、视频、等电脑多媒体与传统的教学媒体有机的结合起来，能实现英语教学中的“多信息，高密度，快节奏”。教师在自制课件辅助教学时，备课，课件的制作确实需要投入大量的时间和精力，然而课前的精心设计和准备，却能极大地提高课堂的教学效率。利用多媒体进行课堂操练时，可以通过程序设计，进行多层次，多角度的大容量操练，提高学习效率。此外，课堂上，教师只要点鼠标，就能在短时间里直观，形象地演示课文的逻辑结构，综合对学生听，说，读，写的培养，可以使教师少费口舌。在演示过程中，教师还可以控制演示速度，课堂节奏或添加停顿，既可作新知识的讲解，又可以跟据情况进行再现，作为复习巩固之用；同时教师还可以节省大量的板书时间，从而赢得了教学的时间，使基础知识的讲解更详尽，课堂练习容量和内容更为广泛有趣，新知识的巩固更为扎实，为减轻学生课外过重的课业负担提供了保障。

故事是学生成长过程中不可缺少的一部分,它有生动的情节、丰富的情感,同时也蕴含着一定语言知识。故事不仅能吸引学生进入学习情境,同时也符合学生以形象思维为主的心理特点和学生学习语言的认知特点。因此可以在英语课堂教学中利用故事,采取多种活动形式,使新知识在故事中不断重复和巩固,以此激发学生的兴趣,提高教学质量。故事教学法是把英语的字、词、句放在生动的故事中学习,在听故事的同时听英语,在讲故事的同时学说英语，能激发小学生学习英语的兴趣,调动他们学习英语的积极性的一种教学法。故事教学使学生进入某中角色,感到不是在学英语,而是在用英语与别人交际,因此,故事教学培养了学生的语言表达能力。只要教师在教学中善于挖掘，单词，课文，句型等等内容都可以设计成有趣的故事，使学生饶有兴趣地配合教学。
故事教学是一种很好的英语教学方法，它不但激发了学生的兴趣，简化了学习内容，为学生提供了各方面的语言训练，还能帮助学生建立起一种外语的语感。由此看来，故事教学的确具备了许多优点。但是，运用英语讲故事毕竟是一种创造性的思维和语言活动，那如何在英语课堂里开展故事教学呢？
（一）恰当地选择故事内容。
故事教学的一个重要功用就是提高学生的学习兴趣，选择一个好的故事将是学生和老师共同学习的兴奋点。在选择故事时，教师可以考虑以下几个问题:（1）故事是否符合学生的年龄与兴趣特点？（2）故事中所使用的语言是否适合学生英语语言知识掌握的程度和理解能力？（3）文句节奏与韵律感能否吸引学生仿读？学生接受能力范围内的材料才能真正起到教学效果，教师要根据学生学习情况认真选择，否则，教学和教育的效果就要大打折扣。

运用英语歌曲不仅能渲染和烘托教学气氛也能稳定学生情绪，调节课堂节奏，活跃课堂气氛。提高学生学习和模仿的积极性,促进地道的、口语化的英语。比如刚上课时，学生情绪波动很大，此时如果用录音机放一首英语歌曲，让学生在轻松美妙的乐曲声中调节情绪，使之尽快进入角色，投入到英语学习中去，回起到很好的效果。英文歌曲能为英语教学提供丰富多样的资料。但以英语歌曲教学并不是很容易把握的,因此选择恰当的英文歌曲对教学来说很重要。英文歌曲的选择应满足以下几点:
旋律要优美,要符合中国的社会文化形式;歌曲所传递的信息应易于理解;歌曲的词句应非常清晰,能够适合进行语言训练;歌曲的内容应符合学生的水平或能满足特定的教学目的;所选歌曲应是健康向上、教人自信自强、激发人们奋发向上的励志歌曲。英文歌曲在教学中只是一种手段,教师一定要运用得当。
当然，创设英语课堂教学情境的方法还有很多，利用实物，简笔画，课堂表演等都可创设课堂教学情景。总之，教师可根据教材内容精心设计，认真创设与学生学习内容和生活实践相契合的情景，并灵活运用它来组织课堂教学，就能给课堂带来良好的学习氛围。心理学家托兰斯说：“我们想要创设就需要提出一个友善和奖赏的环境，以便使之在其中繁荣发展。”可见，好的情景设计能够让学生置身于一个美妙的学习氛围，感受语言，享受到语言沟通的快乐。因此，教师在创设情境时，不能为了创设情境而创设情境，或者只是简单地把教师主观认为较好的情境让学生去感受。无视学生的感受，或者情境设计过于虚假，没有用心地从教材，观察生活摄取材料，而人为编制一些单一重复令学生产生厌烦情绪的情境；或者某些情境过于简单，毫无挑战性，学生也会生厌。因此，创设恰如其分的情境，应当注意以下几个问题。
第一、创设教学情境要有利于师生间的教学互动

（从前一只大象和一只猴子在森林里相遇了，他们吵了起来。）Elephant：Strength is better than celerity．Look how big and strong I am！I can pull a tree down，can you？（强壮比敏捷好。看，我有多粗，多壮，我能把大树扳倒，你能吗？）［The elephant pulled a big tree down．］（大象扳倒了一棵大树。）
Monkey：Being quick is better than being strong．Look how fast I can run and climb！Can you climb a tree？（敏捷当然比强壮好。瞧瞧，我跑得多快，爬得多利索！你会爬树吗？）［The monkey climbed a big tree quickly］（猴子迅速爬上了一棵大树。）Storyteller：They can't agree．At last they went to a wise old owl．（他们争执不下，他们去找一只聪明的老猫头鹰。）
Elephant ＆Monkey： Tell us what you think about it！Which is better—to be strong or to be quick？（请你告诉我们，您是怎么想的，哪个更好 ——— 是强壮还是敏捷？）Owl：Do just as I tell you，and then I shall find out which is better．Do you see that great fruit tree across the river？Go and pick the fruit and bring it to me．（按照我说的去做吧，我会看出哪个更好。看见河对岸的那棵大果树了吗？摘些果子来交给我。）Storyteller：So the elephant and the monkey went to the river，but the water was swift and the monkey was afraid．（大象和猴子来到河边，可是水流很急，猴子害怕了。）Elephant：Get on my back，I shall carry you．I am big and strong，and I am not afraid to swim across a swift river．（爬到我背上吧，我把你背过河去。我又粗又壮才不怕水深流急呢。）
Storyteller：The monkey got on the elephant's back； soon they got to the other bank．There stands the tree．It was so tall that the fruit hung high above them．（猴子爬到大象背上，很快他们就到了河对岸，果树高高地立在那儿，果子在他们头顶上方悬挂着。）［The elephant tried to break the tree down，but it was too strong．He tried to reach the fruit with his trunk，but it was too high．］（大象试图把大树扳倒，可是树太结实，扳不动；他又试图用鼻子去够那些果子，可是果子太高，够不着。）
Monkey：Wait a minute，I can climb the big tree．（等一等，我能爬上那棵大树。）［The monkey ran quickly up the tree，and threw the rich，ripe fruit to the ground．The elephant put the fruit in his mouth．（猴子很快爬到树上，把那些熟透了的果子都装进自己的大嘴里。）
Storyteller：Then they crossed the river again，and gave the owl some of fruit they had picked．（然后他们又渡过了河，把采摘的果子分一些给猫头鹰。）
Elephant＆Monkey：Now，which is better—to be strong or to be quick？（现在说吧，哪个更好 ——— 是强壮还是敏捷？）
Owl：neither of you could get the fruit alone．It took both the elephant's strength and the monkey's quickness to get it．Can you tell me which is better ？（你们自己谁也摘不到果子，只有大象的强壮和猴子的敏捷加起来才能摘到果子。谁能说出哪个更好呢？）
