在苹果和三星两大品牌带动之下，今年in cell占整体触控面板市占率将达10.8％、on cell市占率则为12.5％，合计两项技术市占率合计超过23％。今年群创、华映、彩晶积极切入on cell触控，已经供货给酷派等国内厂商，2014年成长强劲，预估到2014年，in cell和on cell触控技术合计市占率逼近24.9％。

因为苹果去年发表的iPhone 5采用in cell触控面板，今年又应用在iPhone 5S、5C和iPod touch之上的带动，in cell触控面板出货量成长。苹果目前是in cell触控面板大量应用的主要品牌，负责面板生产的三家面板厂夏普、JDI和LGD都是受苹果委托生产具有其专利的in cell触控面板，使得in cell触控技术非常依赖苹果的品牌效应。

2013年in cell触控技术最大应用项目为手机，出货量估约1.55亿片、年增率117％。预估2014年in cell触控面板在手机应用出货量将增至1.73亿片，年增率估12％。再加上其它应用，2014年全球in cell触控面板出货量可达1.86亿片，年成长率估10％。

至于on cell触控技术的发展主要依赖三星的Super AMOLED，而随着三星Galaxy S系列及Galaxy Note系列的热卖，on cell触控面板出货量亦增长明显。三星目前将on cell触控传感器的制作工艺外包给华映（6代线）、和鑫（5.5代线）以及韩国Dongwoo（5.5代线）。

值得注意的是，今年台湾面板厂在on cell技术推广相当积极，群创推出on cell触控解决方案TOD技术，其搭载4.5英寸720p分辨率的on cell触控液晶面板已出货给酷派手机产品。群创后续规划有5英寸FHD、5.56英寸FHD、6英寸FHD及7英寸FHD的on cell触控面板在下半年和明年陆续量产。彩晶同样规划了on cell触控产品，彩晶省略了玻璃薄化工序，使得其on cell触控面板较厚。然而取消薄化工序将有助于缩短其生产周期并降低生产成本，使得其在入门级行动电话市场具备价格优势。
