你的人生中有多少个１０年，就在一眨眼中就不见了，你这辈子就在平平淡淡中浪费了你的生命，千万不要幻想；千万要下定决心，因为你的人生决定于你所做的决定。

我时常告诉我的学员：“成功有三个最重要的秘诀，第一个就是下定决心；第二个还是下定决心。”第三个我问他们是什么？他们就说：“那当然还是下定决心。”

凡事成功都要下定决心，很多人就问我：“杜老师，万一下定决心，可是还不成功怎么办？”我就跟他们说：“这根本是一派胡言，怎么可能下定决心还不成功，假如下定决心了还不能成功，那就表示他不是真正地下定决心，因为如果他真正地下定决心了，那他的决心就一定会帮助他坚持到底，遇到困难决不放弃，直到成功为止，这才是真正地下定决心。”

我记得我１７岁的时候在做推销员，我所有的亲戚朋友，都非常反对我做推销员，所以，我只好做陌生拜访，可是我又不大敢做陌生拜访，因为我害怕敲别人家门或跟陌生人谈论产品的时候，会被他们拒绝，因此业绩一直无法突破。

直到有一天，我的经理跑来找我，他说：“你今天跟我去拜访。”

结果我就跟他下楼走到马路上，他看到对面走来一个小女孩，就告诉我：“假如我现在走过这条马路没有办法向她推销产品的话，我走回马路时就被车撞死给你看。”当时我听了吓了一大跳，认为他怎么可能说出这种话。

于是我看他走过马路，开始向这位小女孩推销产品，经过了１５分钟之后，他终于把产品卖出去了。

于是，隔天我也想如法炮制，我就走下楼，开始向陌生人推销。可是，当我向陌生人开口的时候，头脑里马上想到万一被拒绝怎么办？于是我又打退堂鼓了。

后来我回公司里面，找了一位同事并带他下楼，对他说：“你看着，假如我无法向对面那个陌生人推销产品的话，我走过马路来就被车撞死给你看。”

当我说完这句话的时候，我脑海里一片空白，根本不知道我即将如何推销。我硬着头皮走过去，开始与陌生人交谈，我根本不知道我要说什么，但是我又不能走回头路，因为，我刚刚做过承诺、发过誓了，于是我使出浑身解术向这位陌生人推销产品，经过了２０分钟之后，不可思议的事情发生了：他终于买了我的产品。

后来我发现，原来是我的决心帮助了我推销成功。

在我２０岁那年，我上了一个课程，在课堂上老师告诉我：“下一次还有一个课程非常棒，这个课程可以帮助我们激发所有的潜能，让自己能够成为顶尖人物。”

我说：“这个课程很好，可我没有钱，等我存够了钱再上。”这时候老师对我说：“你到底是想成功，还是一定要成功？”

我说：“我一定要成功。”他又问我：“假如你一定要成功的话，请问你会怎么处理这个事情？”

于是我说，我立刻借钱来上课。

当然，上完课之后，我有了很大的成长。

于是，老师又告诉我们：“下次还有一个课程，还是相当棒，会教给我们领导与推销方面的知识。”

我听了之后非常兴奋，可是我没有钱，我只好等到明年再上。

当时老师又问我：“杜云生，你到底是想成功，还是一定要成功？”我又回答：“我当然一定要成功啊！”

“你一定要成功，那你要等到什么时候才来上课？你的收入不够，所以你没有钱，你更应该来上课才是，你说是不是呢？”于是，我又借钱来上课，就这样，反反复复，我一共借了十几万来上课。

当上完这些课程之后，我的人生产生了一个非常大的改变，我认为这一辈子都是在那几次课程中塑造出来的。

后来我分析，到底我的人生是怎么改变的，发现答案只有四个字，那就是：“下定决心”。

“想要”和“一定要”是不一样的，很多事情看起来很困难，可是当你下定决心以后，它就变得非常简单。

很多人时常把下定决心挂在嘴边随便说说，今天说：“我决定要这么做了。”明天又说：”我决定要那么做了。”后天又说：“我决定放弃了。”他们都没有把下定决心当做是一件严肃的事情。我认为真正的决定是一种强烈的欲望——不成功决不罢休的欲望，一定要做到成功为止。否则决不放弃，这才是真正的下定决心。

我从事这个工作８年了，能坚持到今天，甚至还能够出书分享我的经验，我想完全是因为８年前深深地下定了一个决心——我将来一定要成功！

记住，你的人生从你下定决心那一刻开始改变，你所作出的任何一个决定都决定了你的人生。我有很多学员他们想戒烟，他们想转行，他们想突破自我，可是经过了很多年，尝试了很多次，还是不成功。我将这一种观念告诉他们，结果他们现在都有相当大的转变。

所以，各位朋友，千万不要在那“想”成功了，你想成功一辈子也不会成功的。不相信你去问在路上的乞丐他们想不想成功？他们可能也想成功；你去问餐厅的服务员，他们想不想月收入１０万？他们也想；你去问在等公共汽车的老太太，他们想不想坐奔驰车？她当然也想，可他们为什么做不到呢？因为他们都只是“想”，这就像幻想一样。

有一个故事，说有一个小女孩头顶着鸡蛋，她就在想：真棒，鸡蛋卖掉了，就可以再买更多的鸡蛋，鸡蛋会生鸡，鸡又会生蛋，蛋生鸡，鸡生蛋，换了很多很多的钱之后，买一个农场，买了农场之后就可以养牛、养鸡、养羊、种苹果，成为一个农场的主人，过着幸福快乐的日子。

当她想到一半的时候，突然“啪”的一声整筐鸡蛋掉在地上，打翻了，所以她一切梦想都变成了幻想和泡影了。

各位朋友，现在就下定决心，拿出一些真正的行动来改善你的人生，改善你的生活品质，你到底要成为什么样的人？做一番什么样的事业？过一些什么样的生活？开一些什么样的车子？交一些什么样的朋友？你到底有没想过呢？

１０年前，你还记得你在做什么吗？当时有没有人问过你，１０年后你的理想是什么？你的回答也许很多很多，然而１０年后的今天，我们看一看，当初你所做的承诺兑现了吗？实现了吗？假如没有的话，再请你想一想，１０年后你要做什么？假如你还不愿下定决心的话，１０年很快又过去了，相信你一定会等到。

你的人生中有多少个１０年，就在一眨眼中就不见了，你这辈子就在平平淡淡中浪费了你的生命，千万不要幻想；千万要下定决心，因为你的人生决定于你所做的决定。

25岁的时候，我因失业而挨饿，以前在君士坦丁堡，在巴黎，在罗马，都尝过贫穷和挨饿的滋味。然而，在这个纽约城，处处充溢着豪华气息，尤其使我觉得失业的可悲。

我不知道有什么办法能改变这种局面，因为我胜任的工作非常有限。我能写文章，但不会用英文写作。白天就在马路上东奔西走，目的倒不是为了锻炼身体，因为这是躲避房东讨债的最好办法。

一天，我在42号街碰见一位金发碧眼的大高个儿，立刻认出他是俄国的著名歌唱家夏里宾先生。记得我小时候，常常在莫斯科帝国剧院的门口，排在观众的行列中间，等待好久之后，方能购得一张票子，去欣赏这位先生的艺术。后来我在巴黎当新闻记者，曾经去访问过他。我以为他当时是不会认识我的，然而他却还记得我的名字。

“很忙吗?”他问我。

我含糊地回答了他，我想他已一眼看出了我的境遇。

“我住的旅馆在第103号街，百老汇那边，跟我一同走过去，好不好?”他问我。

走过去?其时是中午，我已走了5个小时的马路了。

“但是，夏里宾先生，还要走60个街口，路不近呢。”

“胡说，”他笑着说，“只有5个街口。”

“5个街口?”我觉得很诧异。

“是的，”他说，“但我不是说到我的旅馆，而是到第6号街的一家射击游艺场。”

“现在，”夏里宾说，“只有11个街口了。”

我摇了摇头。

不多一会儿，走到卡纳奇大戏院。夏里宾说，他要看看那些购买月戏票子的观众究竟是什么样子，几分钟之后，我们继续前进。

“现在，”夏里宾愉快地说，“咱们离中央公园的动物园只有5个街口了，动物园里有一只猩猩，它的脸很像我所认识的唱次中音的朋友。我们去看看那只猩猩。”

又走了12个街口，已经来到百老汇，我们在一家小吃店面前停了下来。橱窗里放着一坛咸萝卜。夏里宾奉医生的医嘱不能吃咸菜，因此他只好隔窗望了望。

“这东西不坏呢。”他说，“它使我想起了我的青年时期。”，我走了许多路，原该筋疲力尽的了。可是奇怪得很，今天反而比往常好些。这样忽断忽续地走着，走到夏里宾住的旅馆的时候，他满意地笑着：“并不太远吧?现在让我们来吃中饭。”

在那满意的午餐之前，夏里宾向我解释为什么要我走这许多路的理由。

屈指到今，已经19年了，夏里宾也已长辞人世。我们共同走过马路的那一天永远值得我纪念，因为尽管那些马路如今大都已经变了样子，可是夏里宾的实用哲学，有好多次都解决了我的难题。

这个分段实现大目标的故事，实际上的距离并没有缩短，但是心理上却减轻了压力与不安，让人容易坚持走下去。
