There is a famous saying in Chinese proverb that Gold can’t be pure and nobody is perfect. But only few people realize its essence. Accepting the imperfection is the lesson that everybody should learn. The things they complain maybe the advantages in other people’s eyes. Shortcoming is part of human nature, so just be nice to it.
Nowadays, people are easy influenced by the hot comment. Someone asked the question of what gift should he buy for his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day with the budget of 200 RMB. Someone answered the best gift was freedom. A lot of people applauded for the wonderful reply. Another story about a girl was moved by his boyfriend’s gift of a cheap handbag, because the boy spent a lot of time choosing it. The most precious thing the girl received was the boy’s sincere heart.
Things can be much different if we change the way to treat others. Don’t be so hard on other people, life will be much easier and happier. Some parents think their kids are not good enough for not getting the high mark, actually, talent differs in many children. If adults accept their children’s imperfection, both the children and them can live the happy life.

We need to follow all kinds of public rules, such as the manner rules and the traffic regulation. If we break the rules, then all the work will be out of order and everybody will suffer the loss. But few people just ignore the rules and waste other people’s time and money.
Chinese high speed train has won many praise from foreign people. The trains always start off as the timetable and reach the destination on time. High speed train is popular by the public by its speed and punctuality, but what if someone breaks the traffic rule? Recently, a video got popular on the Internet. A woman was stuck in the door of high speed train and the staffs tried to stop her but failed. She said her husband was on the way and she wanted the train to start off later. How ridiculous it was. How could she let all the passengers to wait for her. Everybody’s time is precious.
Though the woman apologized after the policemen’s education, what she did discomforts the public. The way she acted wasted the public’s time. It is our duty to follow rules and keep the public in order.

In the early 1990s, panda had caught the world’s attention, because the scholars found that they were dying out, so they called for the government to protect these precious creatures. The most important thing was to return to the green, because many people cut the trees for making profits. The habitat was destroyed badly. Now part of the green has been recovered, but it is still long time task to maintain the conservation area.
The ordinary people also have the duty to make a contribution to protecting the animals and the conservation areas. For example, we should not throw rubbish away and call on people around us to pay attention to protect the environment. The small things we do will make a big difference in helping maintain the habitat.

Before, I was a very timid girl. Timid to be afraid of mice, cowardice to dare not to sleep alone, cowardly to dare not to stand high, dare not to leave their parents.
Before I was five years old, my father used to take me to climb the west rock mountain. But every time, I was bouncing back and down. Not until I was five years old. It's not easy to have my summer vacation. I'm so excited. Because I can sleep until ten o 'clock. The next morning, my father pulled me out of my date with zhou, and “ordered” me to put on my clothes and put on my sneakers. I was confused and dragged to the foot of the mountain by my father.
“Ah? Dad, don't you, want to climb again?” “That's not, otherwise, when your fear of heights will be cured?” Although, my heart is very, very, and particularly reluctant, but I don't want to dad home to practice the “top ten torture” to me, had to crustily skin of head, hold my dad's hand and cascaded to climb. As the steps of the mountain were gentle, we were halfway up the hill. At this time, there appeared a temple in front of me, this is countless times is the place where I stand hard and retreat. In front of the temple gate stood a tall and steep staircase. I can't help but look up, my god, the two stone lions at the top are still showing the teeth of “scare” me! My father saw my fear, and used the law of tempion: “how is it? I knew you were so worthless that I would not bring you here.” It worked, and I was taken by my father: “who says I can't climb up? Today, let's take a look at your baby girl's true skill.

Some people prefer to plan activities for their free time very carefully. Others choose not to make any plans at all for their free time. Compare the benefits of planning free-time activities with the benefits of not making plans. Which do you prefer?―planning or not planning for your leisure time? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your choice.
I think that free time is a precious thing for most of us. When we’re working hard, it’s nice to imagine what we’ll do when the weekend comes. We juggle one idea with another, trying to decide what best suits our budget and the amount of time we have. After all, anticipating free time is part of the pleasure.
It’s good to plan what we’re going to do with our free time. That way we won’t waste any of it trying to decide. It’s so easy to just sit around and think about this or that activity. Before we know it, half the day is gone. If we decide ahead of time, We can get started in plenty of time, and we can get the most benefit out of the time we have. For instance, if we’re going on a picnic, we can get all our supplies ready to go. Or if we’re going to a movie, we can find out the time and how long it’ll take us to get there. Also, if we plan what we’re going to do with our free time, we can invite others to join us. If we wait until the last minute, our friends may have other plans.
On the other hand, it’s also fun sometimes to do things without a plan. We can just leave the house and walk around and see what catches our attention. Often, this is how we discover places we never knew existed. We might end up doing something we never thought we’d try. We might just happen to find ourselves outside a new bookstore or a bowling alley and go in on a whim, because we have some free time.
It’s nice if we can have the best of both worlds. We can plan our free time activities for one day of the weekend, and let the other day plan itself. This way our free time also gives us the enjoyment of having it both ways.
this applicant shows that her interest in public interest law flows naturally from her volunteer activities and life eperiences. when you finish this essay, do you have a sense of unity and completion? she tied her conclusion both to the highlights of the body and her lead.
the last thing i remember is falling asleep during a late night rerun of the twilight zone. so when it happened, it was especially eerie, like i had stepped into a lost episode, but rod serling was nowhere in sight; for moment, neither was anybody else. at 4:31 am a merciless shove pushed me off my bed. i crawled on the floor, trying to escape the cruel, uncontrollable shaking, but it followed me. it followed me down the stairs and underneath the dining room table where my family joined me. little did i realize that before the morning sun rose again, i would see everything differently.
my world changed. the 6.7 earthquake which crippled the northridge area on january 17, 1994 rattled and ripped apart the fibers of security in our neighborhood. our home was ruined; smashed glass, crumbled walls, and the lack of electricity, gas, and water made it uninhabitable. without basic utilities, we slept and lived in our car for nine days while guarding our home from looters.
the damage was everywhere. a personal landmark, the granada hills kaiser permanente medical center, collapsed. the site where i had volunteered as a teen advisor 鈥?lobbying for and improving the quality of the teen health clinic while working one- on-one with underprivileged, problem teenagers 鈥?no longer eisted. only an empty lot and the memory of a valuable and productive medical and psychological outreach program for troubled youth remained.
as much as northridge and its surrounding regions changed eternally, so did the lives of the victims internally. following this traumatic eperience, i developed a keen awareness of the fragility of life and a newly restored appreciating for the simplest of my old comforts. as vulnerable and edgy as i was with every aftershock that rolled through the area, i consoled myself with reminders of how we were spared.
with a profound sense of gratitude for our relative good fortune, within weeks of the initial quake i volunteered at the american red cross earthquake relief center.
as my family and i rebuilt our home and our lives, i translated for iranian earthquake victims and performed various clerical tasks. yet, my most valuable contribution to the earthquake relief team stemmed from the moral support i was qualified to provide. with my earthquake eperience, i was able to comfort the teary-eyed victims who approached us for help. i gave them the hope and understanding they sought from a primarily out-of-state staff. i benefited too: my work for the red cross aroused my curiosity in public interest law.
i had the opportunity to eplore this new interest in the summer when i interned in washington d.c. for congressman howard p. (buck) smith of california. that summer i was responsible for attending meetings and informing the congressmans staff of the issues discussed. one of the issues i followed dealt with a proposed guideline to prohibit religious epression in the workplace due to its allegedly offensive nature. defining such acts as wearing a star of david or praying silently before a meal as religious harassment, the bill attempted to equate these acts with verbal or seual harassment.
still the most fulfilling eperience of my internship was serving the mr. smiths constituents when they wrote, called, or visited our washington office. their concerns covered many issues, including city maintenance and the enforcement of fcc regulations on local radio stations; yet, most cries for help grew out of the january 17 disaster.
my eperience in the earthquake proved to be useful in my internship. after all, i was working with mr. earthquake himself. as the only intern from northridge, i was assigned to the earthquake project. i acted as a liaison between constituents and the small business administration, federal emergency management agency, and other governmental agencies that handled quake reconstruction monies. because of my eperience, i was again able to empathize with victims in a way that neither the staff nor the other interns could. as a result of my work, i gained a more profound grasp of the legal process and how it was able to help northridge residents with their post earthquake problems.
the january 17 earthquake dramatically changed my world 鈥?both inside and out. in the red cross shelter and in congressman smiths office, my career ambitions took shape: public interest law grabbed me. now i want to help those who cannot purchase legal services, not only by providing the empathy gained during my own trying eperiences, but also by using the skills and knowledge i will acquire at the abc law school. with this preparation, i look forward to helping others escape their legal or bureaucratic twilight zones.

In this picture a man rudely opens a garbage can and violently throws all kinds of waste into it. however, the box is not an ordinary trash can, but is, as a matter of fact, the earth. it is where survive, breed, and prosper. but as the drawing indicates, earth does not receive an equal repayment. quite the contrary, one of the biggest ”gifts“ humans return to earth is an unbelievable amount of trash.the picture purposefully points out a kind of pollution that arouses little public attention, that is, garbage. the past century has witnessed an unprecedented increase in garbage output, most of it technological products that are difficult to be decomposed through natural processes, such as plastics and glass. furthermore, a recent report released that several major chinese cities are already surrounded by circles of trash in the suburban areas, polluting air, water, and earth.
Hence, the issue of waste pollution needs to be addressed as one of the priorities that demand social efforts. only through a holistic system of trash disposal can this problem be fully solved. moreover, we should advocate a more frugal lifestyle so as to reduce the growing scale of waste pollution.

Is It Meaningful to Receive College Education?
Given the fact that many college students have difficulties in finding jobs in the recent, thousands of high school students are reported to refuse to take the National College Entrance Examination. The news seems so convincing that many students, their parents, and the society reach the conclusion that receiving college education is a waste of time and money.Undoubtedly, these students can earn some money working in big cities or running their own business in the near future. However, I am of opinion that this view is myopic,
which is to the detriment of personal development and China’s overall growth in the long term.
Firstly, in terms of personal development, university is not a vocational training center despite the fact that a university diploma indicates graduates are more likely to find decent jobs. Instead, university is a place for personal cultivation and improvement. In universities, students will learn to find their real interests, perfect their personality, and form right outlooks toward the world. Furthermore, students will learn to gather, analyze, and evaluate information so that they can resolve problems in their lives. For those who are suspicious of the value of higher learning, to some extent, they can be regarded as plutolatry. They worship money and believe that money is everything in their lives.
Secondly, in terms of national growth, the advancement of a nation is characterized by its greatness of high education. In this sense, universities are the centers of research and academic exploration. Take the United States for instance. Among the top 100 universities in the world, the majority of them are located in the United States. The advancement of US high education is indicative of the fact that those universities produce the most Nobel Prize laureates in comparison with other countries. American universities also turn out to be a magnet for most smart students around the world. Those universities contribute tremendous share to the US’ growth through scientific and technological support. In China, if the belief that receiving college education is a waste of time and money can not be corrected in time, it is inevitable that China can only reap short-term GDP growth but will be deprived of opportunity to become a competitive international players in the long run, for the human resource will be drained eventually.
In sum, receiving college education will benefit both individual and the country. Indicative of the dire job market for college graduates is not the uselessness of college education. Instead, college education means we should study harder to make a full preparation for the future.

Dear Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I wish to move into a new room next semester. I would prefer a single room、as I find the present arrangement inconvenient.
I must explain the reasons for my dissatisfaction is my roommates’ inconsiderate behavior. For one thing, their friends are constantly visiting them and they regularly hold noisy parties. For another, they sometimes use my things without asking permission. Under these circumstances』I find it difficult to concentrate on my studies.

pared with creating a learning atmosphere. although they never epect children to appreciate their efforts or reward them, they do wish that children could understand their intentions.
however, sometimes children can not understand parents sacrifices. some children take them for granted, because they have been used to these sacrifices from childhood. sense of self centeredness gradually develops into selfishness. some disagree with parents but are unable to persuade them. chances given, these children prefer to do elementary household chores (家务活) like tidying bedrooms, sweeping the floor and washing dishes.
in my personal judgement, parents should not completely sacrifice themselves to childrens academic interest and welfare. it is unwise for them to pin(寄托,寄寓) all epectations and hopes on their children while neglecting themselves. various sacrifices in monetary(金钱的), material and spiritual terms may change into pressure on children rather than motivation for more satisfactory results.

I believe in our future
Honorable Judges, fellow students: Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?
The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

Thirdly, modern conveniences such as radio, TV, internet, various vehicles and labour-saving machines in the home, all greatly facilitate human communication, transportation and housework as well.
Nevertheless, living in the 21st century also has its disadvantages. The most serious one is the increasingly polluted environment; air is filled with smog and water is contaminated by iehemicals from factories.Another main disadvantage is the personalization of human relattonships which mostly result from people’s ever-increasing contact with machines and numbers. Still one more disadvantage is the weakening of spiritual values. An undeniable fact is that a large number of people are solely interested in materialistic culture, while neglecting spiritual civilization. Limited by space, we have to skip the examples.
In conclusion, although the 21st century has indeed given us a lot of advantages, it may not have made us wiser, because it has also made our earth dirtier, our people less humane, and our spirituali iife poorer, We shpuld continue to enjoy the benefits of technological advancement, however, we must
make a concerted effort to preserve our natural environment for future generations. Moreover, we should take the time now to make our lives more meaningful in anihcreasingly impersonal, computerized world.

Life Is A Box of Chocolate
--macfee
Strictly speaking, I never took a sentence as my proverb until I heard the classic words in <>that “Life is a box of chocolate, you never know what gonna get.” Although it is not profound enough, it does change my life by giving me hope, it does inspire me by showing me various possibilities or consequences.
I still remember the astonishment when I went though our college gate. This old, sherry school would be my campus where I would spend my golden years. I lay on my bed thinking of my college life. To be honest, I totally couldn’t accept the disparity between the reality and my dreaming university. At that time, I felt my whole world was gray. Certainly, I did nothing meaningful in my first year.
Occasionally, I heard the sentence from my friend’s letter answering my endless complain. He draw a delicate card writing “Life is a box of chocolate, you never know what gonna get.” Initially, I paid little attention to that, but I did remember it. At the same time, I realized that something changed inside me. After I had watched the movie <>, changes became clear. Having heard this sentence again, it severely shocked me. Gump’s mother was not somebody important. However, she never despaired though she encountered many difficulties. She strongly believed that life is not so bad, and there is still hope. I really convinced she not only told Gump, but also said to me “Life is a box of chocolate…”
For quite a long time, I kept turning it over in my mind. How could I so sure I would get a bitter chocolate at the very beginning of my college life! How could I deny myself without trying best! How could I ignore the various possibilities of my magic world! How could I give up myself just because of disparity of reality! How could I!
From then on, I kept going my own way, despite, frequently, I felt lonely, aggrieved and worn-out.
Frankly, university life is much more complicated and harsher than previous life. During my growth, I had to face up to strange people and various and unfamiliar surroundings by myself. I scared, I cried. But, finally, by telling myself “Keep going, keep looking for your chocolate!” I got thr

when i was in high school, I had to study all the time and hardly had spare time to do what i wanted to.Besides, I had to focus on my textbooks and doing exercise again and again. Therefore, I had little time to read magazines and novels and watch TV. what was worse, I couldn't play with my friends a lot, which I couldn't stand the most. In a word, all i did in high shool should be considered for the College Entrance Examination.
However, my college life is totally different from the life in high school.I can arrange my time freely. I spend most of my time reading in the library, where I can open my eyes and broaden my mind.In my free time, I also join some clubs, where i can make a lot of friends of different majors. My teachers in college are so kind and knowledgeable that they not only teach us knowledge but also how to be a person and how to get on with others. In addition, there are more opportunities for me to improve myself.
I believe college life is an important stage in my life. In college, i can learn how to learn by myself, how to get on with others, how to live independently.College provides me with a stage where i can show myself and be myself.

should cet-4(6) be abandoned?
1. 有人认为应该废除大学英语四(六)级考试;
2. 其他人认为应该保留四(六)级考试;
there has been a heated discussion about whether to keep the college english test band 4(6) in the universities. some people argue that the test has become an obstacle to the teaching of english on campuses, while others maintain that the advantages of the test outweigh its disadvantages.
as far as the first group of people are concerned, they give the following arguments. for one thing, many students spend most of their time preparing for the test, therefore their focus is not on learning english better but on getting a high mark. for another, many teachers don’t concentrate on how to improve the students’ abilities. they only care how many of their students can pass the test.
however, there are many people who believe the test should stay. to begin with, the test is the most effective way to measure how well the students have learned english. what’s more, we can come up with some ways to lessen the negative effect.
as far as i am concerned, each side is right in a certain way. we have to keep the test so students will have better motivation to learn english. however, we can’t attach too much importance to the scores of the test. after all, it is just a test, isn’t it?

Currently, the frequent job-hopping of graduates has aroused wide concern among the public. Does anyone hold the same attitude toward this phenomenon? Definitely not. As to this issue, opinions vary from person to person.
Those who hold the opinion that job-hopping is beneficial to graduates claim that by doing so, the youngsters are more likely to (更有可能)have a better knowledge of (更了解)other fields and then to expand their horizons(开阔视野). Moreover, changing jobs frequently offers workers a chance to move up to a better position(到更好的工作岗位). However, others take a totally different view that job-hopping is detrimental to one’s career development. For one thing, as the common saying goes,“a rolling stone gathers no moss.” (滚石不生苔)The more frequent you change your job, the less likely you are to be an expert in a particular area.(在某个特定的领域) Secondly, this behavior will leave on the employers an impression of (给雇主留下印象)instability and immaturity(不稳定和不成熟). It is no wonder that ,when interviewing a candidate, a employer will raise a question (提问) like“you’ve changed jobs quite frequently. How do we know you’ll stay if we hire you? ”
From my perspective, frequent job-hopping would not necessarily be a bad thing.(并非是件坏事) it may offer them a broader space for career development. (更大的发展空间)When people join a company, the brand new working environment, new colleagues and new enterprise cultural atmosphere (企业文化氛围) will definitely motivate their enthusiasm for (激发他们的工作热情) the new job and thus, prompt their career to a new level.(让职业生涯更上一个台阶) thus, I will try several posts before finding the one that is perfectly fit for me and after that I will remain in the post and spare no efforts to have it well done(竭尽全力将工作做好).

Today's college students face choices unheard of years ago。 Terms like two way selection, self-employment are not new to them。 Many students swarm (蜂拥) into job market or look every talent fair (人才交流会) for potential employers。 The concept of selling (推销) oneself rather than hiding oneself is well accepted by students。
Hunting a job is no small matter。 Instead, it is probably one of the most, if not the most, important decisions any of would-be graduates can make in a lifetime。 Therefore, they are very serious and cautious when that time comes。 It is something that the society has taught them。
As the job market gets shrinking, it has also become a must for undergraduates (在学校本科生)to work harder than before to keep their competitive edge (保持竟争地位)。 More students are engaged in their studies with no distractions They are investing today for a promising (大有希望的,前途无量的) tomorrow。

students long to attend colleges or universities for various reasons. in my opinion, the most common reasons are to prepare for a career, to have new experiences and learn to be independent.
career preparation is becoming more and more important to young people. for many, this is the primary reason to go to college. they know that the job market is competitive and in order to be employed in the future they have to be well equipped with knowledge and skills.
also, students go to colleges or universities to have experiences and learn to live on their own. going to colleges often means having the opportunity to meet with different people from different parts of the country. they learn to communicate and co-operate with each other.
for most students, we guess, it is the first time that they have been away from home. they are faced with many new situations and have to learn to solve them independently, making decisions on their own and dealing with various things themselves. so colleges and universities help them grow up.
surely, colleges and universities become their first choice.

as the keen competition becomes more common in our society, nowadays people are facing more work-related stress. those never finished work put us into a situation in which we have a race against time. the problem is that the task must be done at the moment has nothing to do with our ultimate aim, but a lot are still waiting for us to deal with. so when the deadline comes, stress affects us physically and psychologically.
in my oppion, two things cause stress, tiredness and time. you can imagine when a pile of work is laid out before your ehausted body, you must feel some changes in yourself, such as increased breathing rate, blood pressure level, headache and oppressed.
on the other hand, time is another key factor. because time is always limited, people try to do more within less time. at times, boosted by hopes, people spend untold time on work, but it takes forever to finish, then stress remains as a part of peoples life.
as time slips by, hopes dim, stress raises. and some steps must be taken to solve the problem.
many people are caught up in the cycle of stress but they do not realize it. so the most important step is being aware of potential stresses and avoiding them. then make a list to organize your work in a better way so that you can keep a balance between work and rest, in this situation, stress is not allowed to build up at all.

cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. all the time, they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere, causing disease and even death.
one possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. but it may take decades for the new models to completely replace the traditional ones.
another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. if the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough, most people will not drive private cars. on the whole, the elimination of air pollution needs the co-efforts from the government and the public. this problem will be solved only with the help of science and technology.

Positive interpersonal relationships are vital for optimal human growth and development. However, in recent years, educators have expressed their concern about the ability of interpersonal relationship among students in institutions of higher education.
According to a survey conducted by Hebei University, many college-age students regard interpersonal relationship as the biggest headache. Increasing diversity and rapid changes in our society make interacting with others more and more complex and difficult. With one united life experiences and social skills, college students face more challenges in dealing with interpersonal relationship. This is especially true for students coming from rural areas. Because of the lack of social skills, they are often rejected by others and rejection gives them even fewer chances to learn how to interact with others.
In my opinion, now that interpersonal relationship is important to students development colleges should offer courses about comprehensive interpersonal relationships. The course should address the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors involved in participating in positive relationships in the family and with individuals at school and in the workplace.

t it was a matter of life and death with the chances against him。 this threw him into a panic, and he turned and ran up the creek-bed along the old, dim trail。 the dog joined in behind and kept up with him。 he ran blindly, without intention, in fear such as he had never known in his life。 slowly, as he plowed and floundered through the snow, he began to see things again, the banks of the creek, the old timber-jams, the leafless aspens, and the sky。 the running made him feel better。 he did not shiver。 maybe, if he ran on, his feet would thaw out; and, anyway, if he ran far enough, he would reach camp and the boys。 without doubt he would lose some fingers and toes and some of his face; but the boys would take care of him, and save the rest of him when he got there。 and at the same time there was another thought in his mind that said he would never get to the camp and the boys; that it was too many miles away, that the freezing had too great a start on him, and that he would soon be stiff and dead。 this thought he kept in the background and refused to consider。 sometimes it pushed itself forward and demanded to be heard, but he thrust it back and strove to think of other things。
it struck him as curious that he could run at all on feet so frozen that he could not feel them when they struck the earth and took the weigh。 of his body。 he seemed to himself to skim along above the surface, and to have no connection with the earth。 somewhere he had once seen a winged mercury, and he wondered if mercury felt as he felt when skimming over the earth。
his theory of running until he reached camp and the boys had one flaw in it: he lacked the endurance。 several times he stumbled, and finally he tottered, crumpled up, and fell。 when he tried to rise, he failed。 he must sit and rest, he decided, and net time he would merely walk and keep on going。 as he sat and regained his breath, he noted that he was feeling quite warm and comfortable he was not shivering, and it even seemed that a warm glow had come to his chest and trunk。 and yet, when he touched his nose or cheeks, there was no sensation。 running would not thaw them out。 nor would it thaw out his hands and feet。 then the thought came to him that the frozen portions of his body must be etending。 he tried to keep this thought down, to forget it, to think of something else; he was aware of the panicky feeling that it caused, and he was afraid of the panic。 but the thought asserted itself, and persisted, until it produced a vision of his body totally frozen。 this was too much, and he made another wild run along the trail。 once he slowed down to a walk, but the thought of the freezing etending itself made him run again。
and all the time the dog ran with him, at his heels。 when he fell down a second time, it curled its tad! over its forefeet and sat in front of him, facing him, curiously eager and intent the warmth and security of the animal angered him, and he cursed it till it flattened down its ears appealingly。 this time the shivering came more quickly upon the man。 he was losing in his battle with the frost。 it was creeping into his body from all sides。 the thought of it drove him on, but he ran no more than a hundred feet, when he staggered and pitched headlong。 it was his last panic。 when he had recovered his breath and control, he sat up and entertained in his mind the conception of meeting death with dignity。 however, the conception did not come to him in such terms。 his idea of it was that he had been making a fool of himself, running around like a chicken with its head cut off--such was the simile that occurred to him。 well, he was bound to freeze anyway, and he might as well take it decently。 with this new-found peace of mind came the first glimmerings of drowsiness。 a good idea, he thought, to sleep off to death。 it was like salting an anaesthetic。 freezing was not so bad as people thought。 there were lots worse ways to die。
he pictured the boys finding his body net day。 suddenly he found himself with them, coming along the trail and looking for himself。 and, still with them, he came around a turn in the trail and found himself lying in the snow。 he did not belong with himself any more, for even then he was out of himself, standing with the boys and looking at himself in the snow。 it certainly was cold, was his thought。 when he got back to the states he could tell the folks what real cold was he drifted on from this to a vision of the old-timer on sulphur creek he could see him quite clearly, warm and comfortable, and smoking a pipe。
you were right, old hoss; you were right, the man mumbled to the old-timer of sulphur creek。
then the man drowsed off into what seemed to him the most comfortable and satisfying sleep he had ever known。 the dog sat facing him and waiting。 the brief day drew to a close in a long, slow twilight。 there were no signs of a fire to be made, and, besides, never in the dogs eperience had it known a man to sit like that in the snow and make no fire。 as the twilight drew on, its eager yearning for the fire mastered it, and with a great lifting and shifting of forefeet, it whined softly, then flattened its ears down in anticipation of being chidden by the man。 but the man remained silent。 later, the dog whined loudly。 and still later it crept close to the man and caught the scent of death。 this made the animal bristle and back away。 a little longer it delayed, howling under the stars that leaped and danced and shone brightly in the cold sky。 then it turned and trotted up the trail in the direction of the camp it knew, where were the other food-providers and fire-providers。

We often see there is a table-cloth, a book or something else on the desk in the classroom or library, [1]indicating the seat is taken. This kind of phenomenon is very usual in almost all colleges and universities. [2]Strangely enough, most of students seem to [3]take this for granted, and few will protest it.
[4]Though most of students’ taking seats in advance is for the purpose of better study, this kind of phenomenon has great negative effects. [5]On the one hand, it is a selfish behavior, which damages other students’ interests. [6]Even if many students come to the classroom very early, they can not find a seat. [5]On the other hand, reserving a seat [7]violates the rule of fairness. [8]No matter how late you come to class, the seat is still reserved for you [6]even though many others are eager for that seat.
[9]Considering the above-mentioned, I think, [10]it is high time that we college students took a good look of our behavior. [5]Indeed, only if all of us can improve our consciousness, it is not a difficult task for us to get rid of this kind of phenomenon “reserving a seat”.

-ears pricked forward intently as it watched the man and the man, as he beat and threshed with his arms and hands, felt a great surge of envy as he regarded the creature that was warm ant secure in its natural covering。
after a time he was aware of the first far-away signals of sensation in his beaten fingers。 the faint tingling grew stronger till it evolved into a stinging ache that was ecruciating, but which the man hailed with satisfaction。 he stripped the mitten from his right hand and fetched forth the birch bark。 the eposed fingers were quickly going numb again。 net he brought out his bunch of sulphur matches。 but the tremendous cold had already driven the life out of his fingers。 in his effort to separate one match from the others, the whole bunch fell in the snow。 he tried to pick it out of the snow, but failed。 the dead fingers could neither touch nor clutch。 he was very careful。 he drove the thought of his freezing feet, and nose, and cheeks, out of his mind, devoting his whole soul to the matches。 he watched, using the sense of vision in place of that of touch, and when he saw his fingers on each side the bunch, he dosed them--that is, he willed to close them, for the wires were down, and the fingers did not obey。 he pulled the mitten on the right hand and beat it fiercely against his knee。 then。 with both mittened hands, he scooped the bunch of matches, along with much snow, into his lap。 yet he was no better off。
after some manipulation he managed to get the bunch between the heels of his mittened hands。 in this fashion he carried it to his mouth。 the ice crackled and snapped when by a violent effort he opened his mouth。 he drew the lower jaw in, curled the upper lip out of the way, and scraped the bunch with his upper teeth in order to separate a match。 he succeeded in getting one, which he dropped on his lap。 he was no better off。 he could not pick it up。 then he devised a way。 he picked it up in his teeth and scratched it on his leg。 twenty times he scratched before he succeeded in lighting it。 as it flamed he held it with his teeth to the birch bark。 but the burning brimstone went up his nostrils and into his lungs, causing him to cough spasmodically。 the match fell into the snow and went out。
the old-timer an sulphur creek was right, he thought in the moment of controlled despair that ensued after fifty below, a man should travel with a partner。 he beat his hands, but failed in eciting any sensation。 suddenly he bared both hands, removing the mittens with his teeth。 he caught the whole bunch between the heels of his hands。 his arm muscles not being frozen enabled him to press the hand-heels tightly against the matches。 then he scratched the bunch along his leg it flared into flame, seventy sulphur matches at once! there was no wind to blow them out he kept his head to one side to escape the strangling fumes, and held the blazing bunch to the birth bark。 as he so held it, he became aware of sensation in his hand。 his flesh was burning。 he could smell it。 deep down below the surface he could feel it。 the sensation developed into pain that grew acute。 and still he endured, it holding the flame of the matches clumsily to the bark that would not light readily because his own burning hands were in the way, absorbing most of the flame。
at last, when he could endure no more, he jerked his hands apart。 the blazing matches fell sizzling into the snow, but the birch bark was alight。 he began laying dry grasses and the tiniest twigs on the flame。 he could not pick and choose, for he had to lift the fuel between the heels of his hands。 small pieces of rotten wood and green moss clung to the twigs, and he bit them off as well as he could with his teeth。 he cherished the flame carefully and awkwardly。 it meant life, and it must not perish。 the withdrawal of blood from the surface of his body now made him begin to shiver, and he grew more awkward。 a large piece of green moss fell squarely on the little fire。 he tried to poke it out with his fingers, but his shivering frame made him poke too far and he disrupted the nucleus of the little fire, the burning grasses and tiny twigs separating and scattering。 he tried to poke them together again, but in spite of the tenseness of the effort, his shivering got away with him, and the twigs were hopelessly scattered。 each twig gushed a puff of smoke and went out。 the fire-provider had failed。 as he looked apathetically about him, his eyes chanced on the dog, sitting across the ruins of the fire from him, in the snow, making restless, hunching movements, slightly lifting one forefoot and then the other, shifting its weight back and forth on them with wistful eagerness。
the sight of the dog put a wild idea into his head。 he remembered the tale of the man, caught in a blizzard, who killed a steer and crawled inside the carcass, and so was saved。 he would kill the dog and bury his hands in the warm body until the numbness went out of them。 then he could build another fire。 he spoke to the dog, calling it to him; but in his voice was a strange note of fear that frightened the animal, who had never known the man to speak in such way before。 something was the matter, and its suspicious nature sensed danger--it knew not what danger, but somewhere, somehow, in its brain arose an apprehension of the man。 it flattened its ears down at the sound of the mans voice, and its restless, hunching movements and the liftings and shiftings of its forefeet became more pronounced; but it would not come to the man。 he got on his hands and knees and crawled toward the dog。 this unusual posture again ecited suspicion, and the animal sidled mincingly away。
the man sat up in the snow for a moment and struggled for calmness。 then he pulled on his mittens, by means of his teeth, and got upon his feet。 he glanced down at first in order to assure himself that he was really standing up, for the absence of sensation in his feet left him unrelated to the earth。 his erect position in itself started to drive the webs of suspicion from the dogs mind; and when he spoke peremptorily, with the sound of whiplashes in his voice, the dog rendered its customary allegiance and came to him。 as it came within reaching distance, the man lost his control。 his arms flashed out to the dog, and he eperienced genuine surprise when he discovered that his hands could not clutch, that there was neither bend nor feeling in the fingers。 he had forgotten for the moment that they were frozen and that they were freezing more and more。 all this happened quickly, and before the animal could get away, he encircled its body with his arms。 he sat down in the snow, and in this fashion held the dog, while it snarled and whined and struggled。
but it was all he could do, hold its body encircled in his arms and sit there。 he realized that he could not kill the dog。 there was no way to do it。 with his helpless hands he could neither draw nor hold his sheath knife nor throttle the animal。 he released it, and it plunged wildly away, with tail between its legs, and still snarling。 it halted forty feet away and surveyed him curiously, with ears sharply pricked forward。 the man looked down at his hands in order to locate them, and found them hanging on the ends of his arms。 it struck him as curious that one should have to use his eyes in order to find out where his hands were。 he began threshing his arms back and forth, beating the mittened hands against his sides。 he did this for five minutes, violently, and his heart pumped enough blood up to the surface to put a stop to his shivering。 but no sensation was aroused in the hands。 he had an impression that they hung like weights on the ends of his arms, but when he tried to run the impression down, he could not find it。
a certain fear of death, dull and oppressive, came to him。 this fear quickly became poignant as he realized that it was no longer a mere matter of freezing his fingers and toes, or of losing his hands and feet, but tha

My Views on Examination
Nowadays the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject in most colleges and universities. Although it is efficient, its side effects are also enormous.
On the one hand, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques.
