第二篇：英语时尚词汇
fashionable,trendy,stylish,alamode,invogue,hip,chic都被翻译为“时尚”。
Fashionable,这个词源于fashion,时装的意思，就是说一个人非常能够“跟趟”，每个季都愿意把自己改头换面，变个人，为的是和当今的流行趋势同步。Trendy，这个词在英文里面似乎比fashionable更加前卫一些，一个非常Trendy的人和一个非常fashionable的人不一样。前者有些潮流先驱者的含义，也就是说任何trendy的东西没有fashionable那样普及。一个Trendy的人可以是个“弄潮儿”，而一个fashionable的人是个跟着潮流走的人。
Stylish这个词严格得说是很有风格的意思。其时间概念不强。如果说一个人非常有风格并不等于说这个人时尚。其含义甚至和“时髦”相反，一个风格是持久的，是以不变应万变的生活方式，所以形容一个人有风格跟形容一个人时尚是两回事。
Alamode实际上是法语，在英语里面和流行的用法非常相似，比如我们不会说一个人非常流行，而更多的是说一个东西或者一个做法非常流行。在英文里面，Alamode也是更多地借来形容东西、做法、风尚，而不太用来形容人。Invogue是一半英文，一半法文，这个词由于用了个in，其时间感特别强，任何invogue的东西似乎不会超过一个季节，非常短暂。
如果让我翻译hip,那就是实实在在“时髦”的意思。时髦用在年轻人身上似乎很合适，如果说某某是一个六十岁的时髦老太太，似乎这个人又有点超出常规范围、不传统的感觉。
Chic的发音是“希克”，不是“切克”。如果发音成为后者便是小妞的意思，而且是英文里面男人把女人当作猎物时对女人的称呼，含义大大不同。有一个时尚类刊物叫CHIC，几乎所有人都读“切克”，如果一个女编辑能够号称是“切克”杂志，和标榜自己是“花花公子”杂志也差不多。Chic也是一个法语里面的词，也是说时髦，但是Chic要比hip更有派头，可以登大雅之堂，而hip更是街头巷尾的时髦。老上海人说某某很有派头，就和Chic的原意非常接近了。1.Hey, look at the chick over there.看看在那边的女孩。
Chick 这个字代表的就是女孩子，各位不要跟chic(时尚)这个字给搞混了。chick这个字念起来就像是chicken前面一部分？所以蛮好认的。一般而言chick 和girl是可以交互使用的，例如，她是个十三岁的女孩，就是She is a thirteen-year-old chick。
2.She is gorgeous!她真是漂亮！
懂得适时地称赞女孩实在是每个男士必修的功课。一句简单的You are pretty!或是You are so beautiful!就可以让人家高兴上好半天。gorgeous 和pretty, beautiful 都是美丽的意思，但是程度上可能要比pretty 和beautiful还要再来的高一些。所以下次再看到美女，别忘了说一声，You are gorgeous!说不定她就变成你的老婆了。
3.She is a babe.她是个美女。
这句话是用来形容美女的喔。像是我今天去打球看到一个很美很美的女孩，那我就会跟我的同学说，She is really a babe.要特别注意babe 跟baby只有一字之差但却相差十万八千里。你千万不要说成Oh!I like the baby。那么你很有可能被人家当成恋童癖。
4.She turns me on.她让我眼睛为之一亮。
各位男生不知有没有这样的经验，一位长发美女从你眼前走过，你的目光便不自觉地投射在她身上，全身的血液也开始跟着沸腾起来。这要怎么用英文形容呢？这就叫She turns me on。这好像是说，她把你身上的电源都给打开了。
另外，turn-on 也可以当作名词用，它用来表示任何令你觉得很不错的人、事、物。另外你可以说She is such a turn-on。就是说她给我的感觉还蛮不错的。
5.I think she is a hottie.她是个辣妹。
所谓的hottie就是指那种很辣的辣妹，穿着打扮各方面可能都非常地时髦。或是你也可以说，hot babe或是hot chick但有一点请注意，也许你在国内对一个女孩子说，你真是个辣妹啊！她可能还会蛮高兴的，但是在美国你不可以去跟女孩子说You are a hottie。那么你可能换回一巴掌。
另外有一个字眼跟hottie很像，叫hot tamale，但是这个字一般而言比较少人在用。hot tamale原是一种墨西哥食物，被引申成为辣妹的意思，不过这个用法比hottie更强烈，hottie单指好看或漂亮的人，但hot tamale则又加上了一些不能自己控制自己，有点疯狂的意思，所以也不要乱用喔。
