How to Choose Rightly

“To those older than thirty, eight years or ten shall be nothing more than that has slipped through the fingers;to the young, three years or five can be equaled to a whole lifetime.” The sentence was said by Zhang Ailing in her classic novel Half Life Fate.Beginning in the book is Shen Shijun’s inner monologue, “It was already 14 years since he knew Manzhen. So scary! This made him feel old.Time flies, especially for people beyond middle age, eight years or ten years seem nothing, but to those who are young, three years or five years can be equaled to a whole lifetime. It was only a few years from their acquaintance to their break up.Over the years too many things have happened, as if I had experienced all physical sorrows.” I quoted the words here today don’t want to discuss about the topic of love, but to talk about choice when we were young.Choice is one of life's eternal topic. From trivial things such as food and clothing to marriage and the future career planning. We are experiencing all kinds of choice all the time.Especially for young people who are in their 20s and 30s, every big choice is the foundation for future life, even to some extent, a bet for future.Maybe this is the biggest gamble in the world. As was written in American poet Robert Frost’s poem The Road Not Taken,Oh, I kept the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back Somewhere ages and ages hence: I shall be telling this with a sigh Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference

I deem right choice as following the right person at the age of 20 and doing right things at the age of 30.We are the new entrants in our 20s, just like a piece of blank paper. We want to paint the beautiful design, but we don’t know how to start only with enthusiasm.During this period, we search and hope for clutching at a straw. With the straw, we can sure about our directions of life and see the glorious future. The society is indeed complex, we are so young and so innocent, sometimes we may lost the direction of life.It seems that people in economy society all become economists, they all have the capacity to make pancake, just as Wu Dalang. But they don’t have the characters of Wu Dalang----upright and honest. Finally, their dreams are drawing water with a sieve. Then suddenly 30 years old, the period of following the right person.People at the age of 30 have a lot of experience in society, they have their own direction in their mind.At this time, people who has ideals should choose the career and work hard for the career.Choosing the right career is doing the right thing. If the choose is wrong, he may be far from success. If we choose the right career and insist for 10 years, we can see the best result in our 40s, which maybe too late according to Chinese tradition that a man should be independent at the age of 30.But it is the compensation for 10 years’ hard work of a person.Starting from 20, locating 30.We all have our own life whether we can find our answer here or not.We youngest should be aggressive and dare to do everything.Like the framework, trying hard to burn in the glorious time.As we all know, Zhang Ailing has a very famous sentence, to be known as early as possible. Her conception is that young people should do a great when they are young.Seize every minute at early years, just a few years can make a life. When middle-aged, people can hardly have the enthusiasm when they are at an early age.Eight years or ten years seem nothing. Therefore, we should seize the good time, choose career prudently and work hard.

good evening

The main content of my speech today is about music. 。。

well,as we all know, music is an important piece of human life.

Music is always in comparison with other eldest brothers to shame.

it's normal.很好。

it's good.

At least the phenomenon tells the truth that we are keeping a watchful eye on practical things but not someting fancy.

but when is the chance for music to win his brothers a little bit?

well, maybe ask for love?

Like the music market filled with the so-called love songs

all in a word, when praying for love, the military and political economy can't do anything.

But, this is also the reason why after elvis Presley, the beatles, Quincy Jones or even Jackson, Madonna, music always loss to their brothers.or even such a little child called movie can make music as his slave.

we were cheering when a new album record of superstars occurred.而现在,WELL.

Don't have much time, i will set an example for how music overcomes your life.

Mr Qaddafi's regime recently is not stable.

I looked back on this lion's life.

i find that, politicoes would like to even work hard for power rather than keep it real through some fancy things.

And at the same time, the other side of the planet, some people have been through music completed the magnificent life turn on the stage.

We call them superstars.Sing~

Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion

I have spent my entire life either at the schoolhouse, on the way to the schoolhouse, or talking about what happens in the schoolhouse. Both my parents were educators, my maternal grandparents were educators, and for the past 40 years I've done the same thing. And so, needless to say, over those years I've had a chance to look at education reform from a lot of perspectives. Some of those reforms have been good. Some of them have been not so good. And we know why kids drop out.We know why kids don't learn. It's either poverty, low attendance, negative peer influences. We know why.But one of the things that we never discuss or we rarely discuss is the value and importance of human connection, relationships.

James Comer says that no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship.George Washington Carver says all learning is understanding relationships.Everyone in this room has been affected by a teacher or an adult. For years, I have watched people teach.I have looked at the best and I've look at some of the worst.

A colleague said to me one time, “They don't pay me to like the kids. They pay me to teach a lesson. The kids should learn it.I should teach it.They should learn it.Case closed.”

Well, I said to her, “You know, kids don't learn from people they don't like.”

She said, “That's just a bunch of hooey.” And I said to her, “Well, your year is going to be long and arduous, dear.”

Needless to say it was. Some people think that you can either have it in you to build a relationship or you don't.I think Stephen Covey had the right idea.He said you ought to just throw in a few simple things, like seeking first to understand as opposed to being understood, simple things like apologizing. You ever thought about that? Tell a kid you're sorry, they're in shock. 我认为Stephen Covey(美国教育家)是对的。

I taught a lesson once on ratios.I'm not real good with math, but I was working on it.And I got back and looked at that teacher edition.I'd taught the whole lesson wrong.(Laughter)我有一次讲比例。 (笑声)So I came back to class the next day, and I said, “Look, guys, I need to apologize.I taught the whole lesson wrong.I'm so sorry.”

They said, “That's okay, Ms.Pierson.You were so excited, we just let you go.”(Laughter)(Applause)他们说,“没关系,Pierson老师。

I have had classes that were so low, so academically deficient that I cried.I wondered, how am I going to take this group in nine months from where they are to where they need to be? And it was difficult. It was awfully hard. How do I raise the self-esteem of a child and his academic achievement at the same time?

One year I came up with a bright idea.I told all my students, “You were chosen to be in my class because I am the best teacher and you are the best students, they put us all together so we could show everybody else how to do it.”

One of the students said, “Really?”(Laughter)

I said, “Really. We have to show the other classes how to do it, so when we walk down the hall, people will notice us, so you can't make noise. You just have to strut.” And I gave them a saying to say: “I am somebody.I was somebody when I came.I'll be a better somebody when I leave.I am powerful, and I am strong.I deserve the education that I get here.I have things to do, people to impress, and places to go.”

And they said, “Yeah!”

You say it long enough, it starts to be a part of you.

And so —(Applause)I gave a quiz, 20 questions.A student missed 18.I put a “+2” on his paper and a big smiley face.

He said, “Ms.Pierson, is this an F?” I said, “Yes.”

He said, “Then why'd you put a smiley face?”

I said, “Because you're on a roll. You got two right. You didn't miss them all.” I said, “And when we review this, won't you do better?”

He said, “Yes, ma'am, I can do better.” You see, “-18” sucks all the life out of you.“+2” said, “I ain't all bad.”(Laughter)(Applause)大家看,“-18”让人感觉想死。

For years I watched my mother take the time at recess to review, go on home visits in the afternoon, buy combs and brushes and peanut butter and crackers to put in her desk drawer for kids that needed to eat, and a washcloth and some soap for the kids who didn't smell so good.See, it's hard to teach kids who stink. And kids can be cruel. And so she kept those things in her desk, and years later, after she retired, I watched some of those same kids come through and say to her, “You know, Ms.Walker, you made a difference in my life. You made it work for me.You made me feel like I was somebody, when I knew, at the bottom, I wasn't.And I want you to just see what I've become.”

And when my mama died two years ago at 92, there were so many former students at her funeral, it brought tears to my eyes, not because she was gone, but because she left a legacy of relationships that could never disappear.

Can we stand to have more relationships? Absolutely. Will you like all your children? Of course not.And you know your toughest kids are never absent.(Laughter)Never.You won't like them all, and the tough ones show up for a reason. It's the connection. It's the relationships. And while you won't like them all, the key is, they can never, ever know it.So teachers become great actors and great actresses, and we come to work when we don't feel like it, and we're listening to policy that doesn't make sense, and we teach anyway. We teach anyway, because that's what we do.

Teaching and learning should bring joy.How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.

Is this job tough? You betcha.Oh God, you betcha. But it is not impossible. We can do this. We're educators. We're born to make a difference.

Thank you so much.

第四篇:I_have_a_dream演讲稿(中英对照)

我有一个梦想 I have a dream演讲稿(中英文)

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.我们不要陷入绝望而不能自拔,朋友们,今天我对你们说,so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live up to the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident;that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation

where they will not be judged by the color if their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.I have a dream that one day down in Alabama with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning. My country, ’ tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty,Of thee I sing:

Land where my fathers died,Land of the pilgrims’ pride, From every mountainside

Let freedom ring.

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true.So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York!

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slops of California!

But not only that;let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi!

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last!free at last!thank God almighty, we are free at last!”

Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses, Excellencies, Members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Ladies and Gentlemen, Today, in Afghanistan, a girl will be born. Her mother will hold her and feed her, comfort her and care for her just as any mother would anywhere in the world. In these most basic acts of human nature, humanity knows no divisions. But to be born a girl in today’s Afghanistan is to begin life centuries away from the prosperity that one small part of humanity has achieved. It is to live under conditions that many of us in this hall would consider inhuman.Truly, it is as if it were a tale of two planets.

I speak of a girl in Afghanistan, but I might equally well have mentioned a baby boy or girl in Sierra Leone. No one today is unaware of this divide between the world’s rich and poor.No one today can claim ignorance of the cost that this divide imposes on the poor and dispossessed who are no less deserving of human dignity, fundamental freedoms, security, food and education than any of us.The cost, however, is not borne by them alone.Ultimately, it is borne by all of us –-North and South, rich and poor, men and women of all races and religions.

Today’s real borders are not between nations, but between powerful and powerless, free and fettered, privileged and humiliated.Today, no walls can separate humanitarian or human rights crises in one part of the world from national security crises in another.

Scientists tell us that the world of nature is so small and interdependent that a butterfly flapping its wings in the Amazon rainforest can generate a violent storm on the other side of the earth. This principle is known as the “Butterfly Effect.” Today, we realize, perhaps more than ever, that the world of human activity also has its own “Butterfly Effect”--for better or for worse.

We have entered the third millennium through a gate of fire.If today, after the horror of 11 September, we see better, and we see further--we will realize that humanity is indivisible.New threats make no distinction between races, nations or regions.A new insecurity has entered every mind, regardless of wealth or status.A deeper awareness of the bonds that bind us all--in pain as in prosperity--has gripped young and old.

In the early beginnings of the twenty-first century--a century already violently disabused of any hopes that progress towards global peace and prosperity is inevitable--this new reality can no longer be ignored. It must be confronted.

The twentieth century was perhaps the deadliest in human history, devastated by innumerable conflicts, untold suffering, and unimaginable crimes.Time after time, a group or a nation inflicted extreme violence on another, often driven by irrational hatred and suspicion, or unbounded arrogance and thirst for power and resources. In response to these cataclysms, the leaders of the world came together at mid-century to unite the nations as never before.20世纪可能是人类历史死难最多的世纪,这个世纪被无法数得清的冲突、不能言状的痛苦和难以想象的罪行所折磨。

A forum was created--the United Nations--where all nations could join forces to affirm the dignity and worth of every person, and to secure peace and development for all peoples. Here States could unite to strengthen the rule of law, recognize and address the needs of the poor, restrain man’s brutality and greed, conserve the resources and beauty of nature, sustain the equal rights of men and women, and provide for the safety of future generations.

We thus inherit from the twentieth century the political, as well as the scientific and technological power, which--if only we have the will to use them--give us the chance to vanquish poverty, ignorance and disease.
