In my opinion, a friend is someone who is concerned about everything you do and everything you think.A friend is someone who believes in you, forgives your mistakes and accepts you as you are.A friend is someone who appreciates the good in you, overlooks the worst in you and brings out the best in you.In Greek legend the story“Damon and Pythias” goes like this.Before Pythias was sentenced to death, he asked to return home one last time to bid farewell with his parents.The king refused.Instead Damon took his place in prison.Should Pythias not return , Damon would be put to death.The king was convinced that Pythias would never return.But just as the king was about to kill Damon, Pythias came back.Apologizing to his friend for his delay, Pythias told of how pirates had captured his ship on the passage back and thrown him overboard.The king listened to Pythias as he described how he swam to shore and made his way back as quickly as possible, arriving just in time to save his friendThe king was so

.touched by the friends' trust and loyalty that he freed both Damon and Pythias.There are no more honored names than those of Damon and Pythias-for no person can do more than be willing to lose his life for the sake of his friend.As we know, plants depend on the sun for growth, without which the plants will die.Friends are to us what the sun is to all the plants.It is friends who make us laugh until we can’t stop when we are down.It is friends who lend us a helping hand when we’re in trouble.A life without a friend is a life without a sun, which seems dark and empty.It is friends who make the dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full and get us through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times.All in all, a life without a friend is a life without a sun.We cannot live without the ray of the sun.And we cannot overstress the importance of friends.No road is long with the good company of friends.So let’s take good care of our friends from today on!Let’s open our arms to embrace our dear friends right now!

my future.Just then, my friend Tom came to my rescue.He gave up his free time for more than one month and taught me in hospital everyday.He gave me both knowledge and faith in the future.Since this time I said to myself, He will always be my friend.Once on the summer afternoon, when we were young, we played football in the street and we were very happy because in the morning we had an exam and passed it.The teacher said we had good grades and we could graduate form this school.Then, he accidentally kicked the ball to someone else's house and broke the window.Then I wanted to run away, but he said we should be honest to admit our mistakes.He let me know that we should be truthful.He was a very brave child.When we were in junior high school, near my class there were a few naughty students who often frighten younger girls and boys.Once, Tom and I came home from school to see them trying to scare a little boy I advised him to take care of himself, but he had to do that in front of several people.He told me that we should be brave to overcome bad things.At that time, he let me know his courageous side.I knew he had a dream to be a policeman.In fact, policeman themselves are the most courageous.My

friend, Tom usually did some dangerous things that increased and qualified as a policeman.I believe that he will succeed.Now, he is very brave like a real policeman.Of course, he is not a perfect man.He is a very stubborn man.Once he decides something, no matter what, he should stick to it.Sometimes, I really don’t understand him.He always insists on unuseful things, people don’t understand him.Sometimes he has stubborn others so angry, but he insisted.One morning I got up late.I did not go to school, yet.I called my friend Tom and told him I did not want to go to school, since I got up late.I wanted him to help me tell my teacher I was ill and didn’t go to school in that day.Then he said he could not help me and tell a lie to teacher;as students we should go to school to study, even though I got up late for school.Everyone needs friends.A good friend can give us help and share our difficulties and happiness.If someone lives
