Nowadays, many people like to study abroad.Studying abroad is often considered as a great opportunity which will lead to bright future in one's ride of passage.Not only can we learn different cultures and knowledge from foreign countries, studying abroad can also enrich our lives.One coin has two sides.Likewise, different people have different minds.Conservative and negative concerns about studying abroad have been gradually emerging from our society.People start to wonder what goes wrong with studying abroad.There are a couple of issues worth of our discussions.Disadvantages of studying abroad may affect one's life culturally and economically.We Chinese will experience cultural shocks if we study abroad and live in another country.Some peers may not be able to adapt to a new environment of their studying and living, which may be very different from that of theirs.Life is beautiful, and it is hard.If one does not feel comfortable with the new culture of another country, he will not be happy about studying in that country.In addition, studying abroad can cost students a great deal of living expenses.Some Chinese students are so academically successful that they receive scholarships in their studies.However, most peers who study abroad do not receive scholarships.Furthermore, they have to deal with many unexpected hardships by living away from their parents and homeland.For example, medical insurance, daily foods, clothes, rents and transportation can generate a large amount of living expenses.Often time, they need to heavily depend on their parents' overseas monthly payments.I have discussed some benefits and disadvantages of studying abroad.Life is not easy that we know.My belief is that for those students who study abroad should build strong characters in facing of unexpected difficulties in their life.2

毕竟中国还是发展中国家，更需要我们来将她建设得更强大，然而，闭门造车是不可取的。出国留学，会扩大知识面，学到更多的东西，留学最终是为了我们的祖国啊！

哈佛女孩刘亦婷在学习期间，根据她的平时观察和了解，对我国中小学生与美国中小学生的学习和生活现状进行了对比，并归纳8个方面。(1)身体素质对比，美国学生占较大优势。(2)独立工作能力对比，美国的多数学生胜过我国学生。(3)基础知识对比，我国学生超过美国学生。(4)团队精神对比，我国学生不如美国学生。在美国学生中经常讲“团体精神”。(5)主动性与首创精神对比，美国学生大都比我国学生强。我国学生考虑的是做事要有章可循。而美国学生显得放开。(6)人际交往能力对比，美国学生比我国学生强。(7)动手能力对比，美国学生强。他们在课内外动手实践机会多；到博物馆、展览馆参观允许参观者动手操作。在课内也是如此。在家里，美国学生的家务也做得多，如在住宅四周剪草。(8)刻苦学习对比，我国学生与美国学生差不多。

现在，我国正在深化教育改革，提高教育质量，刘亦婷以智慧的眼力提出8点，使我们放眼世界，可以为鉴。

要是一味的出国留学丰富自己，而不是把自己的知识拿来建设国家，那就是没有爱国之心的结果。有人说：“出国留学不好，还不如上清华北大”。是的，清华北大固然好，但出国留学的本质并不只在于学习。不管每个人出国的初衷是怎样的，到最后他肯定会发现，出国的经历本身对个人便是一笔无形资产。除了单纯的学习，留学更多的是提供了一个了解外部世界和不同文化的机会，也许在这方面的收获还要大过求学本身所得到的。从国外回来的人水平不一定就比没有出国的人高，但他看问题的视角肯定会更丰富。

美式论文、报告写作技巧

编者按：美式教育的特点即是课程内容强调学生参与及创新运用，因此，报告便成了常见的考核学生学习成果的方式，比如实验报告、学期报告、专题报告、研究报告及论文（含毕业论文）等。研究生presentation 及 seminar 的机会更是占很大的比重，有些甚至占学期成绩很大比例。如何完成报告、论文同时得到良好的成绩，是本文提供给有志留学的有心人参考的目的。

美国大学生由於自小已养成自动寻找答案习惯，在启发式的教育环境下，写报告、论文对他们来说比较不陌生，虽然专业知识上美国学生不见得比外籍学生强，但是表达能力由於自小培养，加上英语能力的优势，常比外籍学生在报告、论文方面有较隹的利基。反之中国学生比较缺乏报告写作的训练，因此如果在留学过程中无法适应美式教育会比较辛苦，其实论文、报告的写作要领其实不难，只要把握技巧就可水到渠成。

通常在确定题目之後就开始找资料从事研究，建议在找资料之前最好去问教授有哪些参考资

料来源可供参考引用。构思为确定写作大纲或 Proposal 的先前步骤，大纲是论文、报告的骨干，Proposal 是研究的架构、流程及范围的说明书。如何构思大纲或Proposal为论文、报告写作前的必要准备工作。好的论文或研究报告，要基于在完整、详实的资料上，而参考资料除了和教授商借之外，最主要的来源就是图书馆了，一般参考资料来源可分成教科书或手册、政府机构的报告、科技或商业方面的杂志，及会议性质的资料。此外现代的电脑资料库也可帮助收集资料，在国外可利用学校的电脑连线资料库寻找自己需要的资料。当一切准备就绪，即可开始着手写报告，一般报告还分大报告如期末、专题等报告，及小报告如 Seminar 式的报告。

就算是小报告，也至少应含

(一)TITLE PAGES ：包含主题名称、作者、日期

(二)Summary： 即主要的结论

(三)Introduction：包括理论背景及内容

(四)Technical Sections：是论文的主体，为最重要的部份应再细分为 几个片断。

(五)Conclusions：即扼要的结论

(六)Appendixes：复杂公式的导引及叁考资料和电脑程式的报表可附加在 此项

美式报告的撰写通常要打字，两行式，行间若有未拼完的字要以音节来连接。写报告通常需要用到电脑，如有计算数字统计图表的需求，也常会用到程式软体如PASCAL、LOTUS，统计分析软体如SAS，也是不可或缺的，电脑绘图在今日已成为工商界及学术界的重要工具，文书处理更是最基本的要求，因此Word for Window、Powerpoint、Excel便成了颇受欢迎的工具。此外在英文语法、文法上的润饰与修改，如能请老美帮忙会比较好。

论文、报告完成后有时会需要做解说(Presentation)，用英文来讲演对中国人来说算是一大挑战，通常课堂讲演时间为十五分钟到三十分钟，若是论文囗试则至少一小时。投影机及麦克风的使用对讲演的效果有很大帮助，正式讲演前多预习几次，时间宜控制适中，上台时忌讳低头拿着报告照念，需留意听众的反应，切中主题，避免太多数字的导引。

出国留学家长之忧

出国留学既有优势也有劣势。现今的应试制度以及教育资源分配的不平等性是我国国情决定的，必须承认中国的高校事业在今天面临三个根本问题：招生能力有限、竞争机制缺乏、培养模式单一，另一方面随着我国经济发展以及改革开放的不断深入，教育的开放使出国留学也越来越普遍，成为一个新的选择。留学国外，对学生的自理、适应、沟通、工作等能力的提升可以说是质的飞跃。

在留**热涌的同时，安全问题开始显现。让留学生的生命面临着严峻的考验，也让全世界家长十分困扰。近年来，中国留学生在海外遭遇火灾、车祸、殴打、绑架、枪击等意外事故和安全侵害的消息，时有听闻。一次次的新闻报道，给留学生和准备出国留学的学生家长敲响警钟。

事实上，对于不擅长国内应试方式而又肯努力充实自己的孩子，留学无疑是福音，通过努力甚至能申请到世界名校；而对于本身就擅长学习的孩子，到更广阔的教育领域中，能更容易找到适合自己的优秀学习资源。往往事半功倍、锦上添花。

如果符合上面提到的标准，选择出国留学，就应该提前规划。可以将留学规划细化为几个子计划，如资金计划、英语学习计划、学校专业选择计划等。出国留学是个系统工程，需要较长时间的准备。不论去哪个国家留学，都需要提高英语水平，因此，准备留学的学生应该提前学好英语，为适应国外做准备。还应慎重选择国外的学校和专业，应该上网查看学校的相关资料，查询研究美国教育部门的院校“积极名单”，确保学校的合法性，避免“竹篮打水一场空”,还应加强自我保护的意识，巧妙应对突发情况。

总之，教育乃大计，希望家长朋友和同学们都能够冷静分析，深入咨询，量体裁衣，合理的分配金钱，精力与时间，必能投以木桃，报以琼瑶。
