Tess of the D’Urbervilles Chapter One----In a small but beautiful village in which many of the old customs survive, there is a May-Day dance for the younger inhabitants of Marlott.There is a few middle-aged and even elderly women in the gathering including Tess D’Urbervilles who is a very beautiful and innocent woman.Although she is very attractive, she misses Angle Clare who is her lover later for her backwardness to the man.After this party, Tess goes home where she has to do a lot of housework and takes up with her mother’s constantly boring words.She bore in a poor family, so she has to take the responsibility for bring happiness and good life to her family in any ways.Her mother misunderstands that there is a relation between her family and a wealthy family that has the same surname, so her mother asks Tess to visit them for some possible profits get from the rich relative.Tess unwillingly accepts her mother’s advice that she has to go to an unknown manor where the wealthy relative lives.After a long journey, Tess eventually arrives at the residence where her destination is.There she meets a gentle man who is attracted by Tess’s beauty, so he has a good treat to Tess.After chatting with Tess, he knows her purpose why she comes here, which he thinks is funny and foolish.Therefore, he decides to take advantages of this striking woman’s innocence and ignorance.With the development of the plot, the wealthy man uses his gentleness gradually to please and cheat Tess.His frivolous behavior makes Tess frightened and disgusted.Although as a woman , Tess is fragile, she possess a stubborn heart and a strong dignity, so she revolts him firmly.However, she is a woman who does not the darkness of people’s heart after all, she finally is seduced by the so-called gentle man and becomes his mistress.After reading this chapter, my feelings are as following.First, this story takes place in the 19 century, the society is dark.It exposes the fact that the men such as the wealthy man are not responsible and treat women maliciously so that make women suffer from sorrow and agony.Second, it discloses that there is a big disparity between the rich and the poor.Because of the disparity, it causes the people such as Tess’s mother who admire power and money but ignore the dignity and grace of humanity.Finally, Tess as a fragile woman in this unfair society, her suffering is sympathetic.We should praise his innocence that is rarely seen in that age and courage to fight against the darkness of society.Chapter Two---
After a few weeks of confused dalliance with Alec, Tess begins to stay away from him.Against his wishes, Tess goes home, where she keeps almost entirely to her room.The next summer, she gives birth to a boy, who lives only few weeks.With an unknown baby, Tess as a woman who is unmarried, she is mocked by others.Bad luck comes to the woman again, her baby becomes weaker and weaker, crying all the time.On his last night alive, Tess baptizes her baby one her own, after her father locks the door to keep the parson away.The child is given the name ‘sorrow’.Tess buries her baby by herself in a bad mood, and makes a homemade cross and lays flowers on his grave.After suffering from such agonies , Tess decides to leave her home to get rid of the past.When she receives a letter from her mother’s friend saying that a milkmaid is required at a dairy-house many miles to the south.From this chapter, I just feel women’s weakness in that dark society again.Tess, always as an innocent woman , is cheated by the so-called gentle man who takes advantage of her innocence.Tess born a baby when she is in a so young age, and what’s worse, she is forced by the gossips and the church to blame herself for the accident;she cannot obtain others’ forgiveness but abuse for her miserable suffering.Her baby dies young but there is no one helping her gets rid of such sadness and the church refuses to give a funeral rite for her baby.Everyone is indifferent to what happens to Tess.All of these completely depress Tess and she is forced to leave her home.However, although Tess suffers from so many hardships, she never gives in her fate and still chooses to bravely face all tribulations.Her love for her child is so great that make us express admiration for her.Actually, I show great sympathy to this pitiful woman who becomes a victim of that age.Chapter There---
More than two years after the Trantridge be back, Tess is ready to make a new start.She seeks employment outside the village, where her past as the letter she receives says, working for the Mr.Click.There, she meets three fellow milkmaids just as her.They sleep in the same room, eat together, and work together.The life they lived at a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.However, a handsome man, Angle Clare, who is now a apprentice farmer and has come to here to learn diary management, breaking up this peaceful life of these milkmaids.They are sick with love for this charming man instead of Tess who is so quite that cannot attract others’ attention though she is so beautiful.One day, people have a diner being together, they just talk about whether the soul of human beings can get out of their bodies.Tess addresses her special opinion with a lovely voice, which makes Angle start to pay attention to this beautiful and familiar woman who he has already met at that dancing party.Tess often hear that there is someone playing the flute and that make her very curious about who is it.After her explosion, she finds the one is Angle Clare.Angle is really attracted by Tess for her beautiful appearance and pure heart.He constantly expresses his good feels to Tess, and as time goes by, they gradually fall in love each other.At the beginning of this chapter, we see that Tess starts her new life in a farm, making a living for her poor family;this reveals a fact that the poor always live in the low rung of society, compared with the rich who are addicted in a pleasure and ignore sorrow of the poor.What’s more, we just happily see that Tess’s positive attitude towards life bring her a bright and time.Her beauty, her innocence, and her persistence all attract the gentle man, Angle Clare.And they love each other and live a happy life in the farm.Reading this chapter, I observe Tess’s transient happiness in her life that is as reward for her honesty and kindness, so I learn from her that whatever difficulties we will meet in our life, we need a positive attitude and keep a brief that never say die.Living in a peaceful age, we are lucky, so we should cherish what we possess now and make great efforts to do what we want to do, and finally achieve our goal of life.Chapter Four---
Angle spends a few days away from the diary visiting his family at Emminster, his brothers ordain minister both, note Angle’s coarsened manners, while Angle considers his brothers staid and narrow minded.Following evening Prayers, Angle discusses his marriage prospects with his parents.His parents hope that Angle would marry Mercy Chant, a pure woman.But Angle argues that a wife can help him manage his own farm later.Then Angle tells his parents about Tess and they agree to meet her.The next day, Angle returns to the farm and can’t wait to tell Tess about what his purpose to get back home.Angle has deeply gone into his heart and he asks Tess to marry to him.After hearing Angle’s words, Tess feels very surprised and happy , but it also mingles with fear and uneasiness.Recalling her terrible past, she thinks that she is not good for Angle, a perfect man.Therefore, she declines his suggestion unwillingly and painfully.Angle is very sad after he heard Tess’s refusal out of his expectation, so he ask her that whether she loves him.The answer of Tess is ‘Yes’, which causes Angle’s confusion for this complicate situation.However, Angle still uses his persistence to move Tess;finally his persistence is in return and Tess accepts his proposal.As the marriage approaches, Tess grows increasingly troubled, so she writes to her mother for advice.Her mother tells her just keep it as a secret.Her anxiety increases constantly;she resolves to deceive Angle any more, and she write a letter describing her past , then she put the letter under his door.The next morning, she discovers that the letter is put under his carpet after Angle greets her with the usual affection.At this time, she just destroys the letter.My reflections are as following after reading this chapter.Angle pursues his beloved Tess with his perseverance, although there is a big disparity between their families.Why dose he do this? I just think the answer is that he has a very definite aim, and he knows what he really need.Compared Angle with us, we lack his courage and persistence , we usually choose to give up when there is a few difficulties hindering us.Therefore, if we want to catch the hand of success, a exact aim and a considerable plan are required.Furthermore, we see that Tess is suffering from torment when Angle asks her to marry to him.From this point, a fact that we have to be responsible for our mistakes really exists, though sometimes you make them aren’t on purpose.Therefore, we have to be careful about what we are doing now, and just try our best to reduce the possibilities of making mistakes.Chapter Five---
The weeding goes smoothly although a bad omen of a cock crowing in the afternoon is noticed by Tess.Tess and Angle spend their honeymoon at an old d’Urbervilles family mansion, where Angle presents his bride with some beautiful diamonds that belonged to his grandmother.When Tess witnesses all of things his husband does, she feels surely that Angle will forgive her own indiscretion, and finally tells him all the truth and her relationship with Alec.Angle , however, after hearing what Tess tells about, he is so surprised and feels appalled by Tess’s confession, and spends the weeding night on a sofa.Tess see the changes of Angle, she asks Angle to forgive her because she loves him so much.But it doesn’t work, and she finally accepts the sudden estrangement as something she deserves.After a few awkward days, she suggests the separate, saying that she will return to her parents.Angle gives her some money and promise to try to forgive her past, but he warms her not to try to join him until her sends for her.After a quick visit to his parents, Angle goes to Brazil to start a new life.Before he leaves, he encounters one of the milkmaids in the farm and asks her to come to Brazil with him.She accepts happily, but when he asks how much she loves him, she admits that nobody can love him than Tess who is willing to lay down her life for him.Hearing what she says, he abandons her idea he came up with just now, and walks away alone.This chapter expresses us a tragedy.After Tess tells Angle all the truth, the latter cannot forgive her and leave off her.I just want to ask why do the bad often ruin the good? Why is the beauty damaged by ugliness? Women are too weak!Tess always endures sorrow and sadness.She takes the risk of losing her lover, but she eventually pays for her honesty and kindness.Women are always supposed to be hard working, faithful, loyal, intelligent and virtuous.If women break down one of these, they may gain a very bad reputation and accept punishment.Women cannot acquire the same rights as men.In today’s society, there is still the same problem, as a woman, we want others to respect us and prove our abilities.Tess, who lives in a capitalist society, becomes the victim of the society.So it is obvious that a good institution is very important, the government should optimize the institution and help people live a happy life.Chapter Six to Eight---
Alec and Tess are each shaken by their encounter, and Alec begs Tess never to tempt him again.However, Alec soon comes to Flintcomb-Ash to ask Tess to marry him.She tells him she is already married.He returns again in early spring, when Tess is hard at work feeding a threshing machine.He tells her he is no longer a preacher and wants her to be with him.She slaps him when he insults Angel, drawing blood.Tess then learns from her sister, Liza-Lu, that her father, John, is ill and that her mother is dying.Tess rushes home to look after them.Her mother soon recovers, but her father unexpectedly dies.The family is evicted from their home, and at the same time Alec tells Tess that her husband is never coming back and offers to house the Durbeyfields on his estate.Tess refuses his assistance.She has earlier written Angel a letter, full of love, , and pleas for mercy;now, however, she finally admits to herself that Angel has wronged her and scribbles a hasty note saying that she will do all she can to forget him, since he has treated her so unjustly.The Durbeyfields plan to rent some rooms in the town of Kingsbere, old home of the d'Urbervilles, but they arrive there to find that the rooms have already been rented to another family.Tess enters the church and in the d'Urberville Aisle, Alec reappears and importunes Tess again.In despair, she looks at the entrance to the d'Urberville vault and wonders aloud, “Why am I on the wrong side of this door?”
In the meantime, Angel has been very ill in Brazil and, his farming venture having failed, he heads home to England.And Angel begins to repent his treatment of Tess.Upon his return to his family home, Angel has two letters waiting for him from Tess.After reading the letters, he sets out to find Tess and eventually locates Joan, now well-dressed and living in a pleasant cottage.After responding evasively to his enquiries, she finally tells him where her daughter is now.There, he finds Tess living in an expensive house under the name “Mrs.d'Urberville.” When he asks for her, she appears and feels so surprised.He tenderly asks her forgiveness, but Tess, in anguish, tells him he has come too late;thinking he would never return, she yielded at last to Alec d'Urberville's persuasion and has become his mistress.She gently asks Angel to leave and never come back.He departs, and Tess returns to her bedroom, where she falls to her knees and begins a lamentation.She blames Alec for causing her to lose Angel's love a second time, accusing Alec of having lied when he said that Angel would never return to her.Tess feels that she is cheated again by Aleck, with a great anger in her heart, she killed Aleck and leave away.His servant finds his death and calls a person to help her.Angel, totally disheartened, has left Sandbourne;Tess hurries after him and tells him that she has killed Alec, saying that she hopes she has won his forgiveness by murdering the man who ruined both their lives.Angel doesn't believe her at first, but grants his forgiveness — as she is in such a fevered state — and tells her that he loves her.Rather than head for the coast, they walk inland, vaguely planning to hide somewhere until the search for Tess is ended and they can escape abroad from a port.They find an empty mansion and stay there for five days in happiness, until their presence is discovered one day by the cleaning woman.They continue walking and, in the middle of the night, have a rest upon Stonehenge, giving the allusion of Tess as a sacrificial victim to a society that shunned her.Tess lies down to rest on an ancient altar.Before she falls asleep, she asks Angel to look after her younger sister, Liza-Lu, saying that she hopes Angel will marry her after she is dead.At dawn, Angel sees that they are surrounded by police.He finally realizes that Tess really has committed murder and asks the men in a whisper to let her awaken naturally before they arrest her.When she opens her eyes and sees the police, she tells Angel she is “almost glad” because “now I shall not live for you to despise me”.Tess is escorted to prison.The novel closes with Angel and Liza-Lu watching from a nearby hill as the black flag signaling.Tess's execution is raised over the prison.Angel and Liza-Lu then join hands and go on their way.After reading the last three chapters, I really think a lot.Tess, a so stubborn woman, gives in to the cruel reality that no shelter after his father’s death and no money for all families’ living.We cannot think that Tess has lost her innocence and dignity.Facing that situation, she endures too much.Under the unfair and dark society, there are many people as Tess giving in to the capitalists’ oppression.What’s more, Tess eventually kills Aleck, which reveals that Tess chooses an extreme method to revolt the abominable capitalist and pursue her somewhat happiness.However, killing people always cannot escape the sanction of laws in any society for any reason, after Tess enjoying transient cheerfulness with Angle, she finally is sentenced to death.In the indifference to only heavy money in capitalist society, the poor of life and death is irrelevant, so Tess's tragic fate from the outset of the novel was inevitable atmosphere pall.The author in the works to defend Tess this character, he put her in the center position place, she works that poor economic status and her beautiful appearance, the less the harmony, her image more is more conspicuous, her tragic fate more can cause people's sympathy.Although he has to social the weak, but the weak preference damage received too much too heavy, his pen is unable to write to her as his mercy and compassion of the infinite.The poor virtue may be people gladly accepted, but more are to regret.Tess's tragedy is actually because of the social poverty caused by the capitalist society, unreasonable system is her destruction.We feel sympathetic for this beautiful, kind, and pure girl, and we criticize the unfair capitalist society.I hope that this tragic story does not Tess of the D'Urbervilles was written by Thomas Hardy(1840---1928), an English novelist who is famous for novels of character and Environment.When he was young, he derived a love of music from his father and a devotion to literature from his mother.He grew up in the Dorset shire, of which the environment there became the main backdrop of his writings.His writings often reflected the change after capitalism intruded the countries in England and the people‟s hard life.The novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles was published in the year 1891, which was his most famous novel.It tells a story of a tragedy life of a pure girl.In the Victorian period, a rural clergyman in England tells D‟Urbervilles, a simple farmer, that he was descended from the illustrious D„Urbervilles family.The D‟Urbervilles couple sent his daughter Tess to a family named D„Urbervilles in order to improve their social status.Tess was asked to feed chickens there and Alec fell in love with Alec, who later raped her, so she left, pregnant.She went back home, gave birth to the baby, named Sorrow who died soon.Some time later, Tess began working as a milkmaid, and there she met her true love Angel Clare.They fell in love, but Angel does not learn of her previous relationship with Alec until their wedding night, and abandoned her.Deserted by her husband, Tess met Alec again, and poverty forced her to resume their relationship.Angel returned from travelling abroad, remorseful at his treatment of Tess, but found her with Alec.Tess murdered Alec in order to run away with Angel.They spent one night of happiness together, before she was arrested.Many people can hardly accept that Tess was pure because on the hand she was chastity but on the other hand she killed somebody.But that opinion only existed in Hardy's time, now, more and more people admire that Tess was a pure woman.As far as I am concerned, Tess was a pure woman.Everybody who has read the novel
First, as we know, she was born pure.At the beginning of the movie, we saw many women, all dressed in white, paraded to the main square and there do a dance.One of the “walkers” was Durbeyfield‟s pretty, innocent, sixteen-year old daughter Tess.She was “at this time of her life a mere vessel of emotion, untinctured by experience.” Tess‟s beautiful face, white dress and pure temperament made a good impression to us.Later, she was forced to be a service of the Stokes, working on the estate‟s poultry farm.But unfortunately, she was seduced by Alec, a fraud as well as a morally corrupt person.And from then on her life totally changed from this loss of innocence.People looked down on her and respected her no more.Actually she did nothing wrong because before she was seduced she knew nothing of men.She was just a girl when she first met that terrible man.So we can say that Tess was born pure, she was merely, she didn‟t know Alec would hurt her, it provided that she was a pure girl.Second, Tess‟s love was pure.In the Talbothdays dairy, she met Angel Clare, an educated, reserved, subtle, sad and differing man.As time went on, they knew and loved each other.Angel popped the question to her but she refused him without saying why.She said she loved him deeply and perhaps no one in the world could love him more than she did but she could not marry him for some unspoken reason.Angel wasn‟t satisfied with this vague answer and did his best to win Tess.Somehow she agreed and they soon fixed the wedding day.Soon after their wedding Angel confessed the crime he committed to a woman long time ago and asked for Tess‟s forgiveness.Tess was not at all angry and forgave Angel at once;in fact she was rather happy and excited for she also had things to confess.She sat and told everything to Angel, hoping he would forgive her as he was forgiven but she was wrong.She was not forgiven, not as she thought she was the woman pays.Without Angel‟s love, nothing meant anything to her.The result wasn‟t important now.Tess was arrested for her murder of that so-called gentleman.Why? First, as we know, she was born pure.At the beginning of the movie, we saw many women, all dressed in white, paraded to the main square and there do a dance.One of the “walkers” was Durbeyfield’s pretty, innocent, sixteen-year old daughter Tess.She was “at this time of her life a mere vessel of emotion, untinctured by experience.” Tess’s beautiful face, white dress and pure temperament made a good impression to us.Later, she was forced to be a service of the Stokes, working on the estate’s poultry farm.But unfortunately, she was seduced by Alec, a fraud as well as a morally corrupt person.And from then on her life totally changed from this loss of innocence.People looked down on her and respected her no more.Actually she did nothing wrong because before she was seduced she knew nothing of men.She was just a girl when she first met that terrible man.So we can say that Tess was born pure, she was merely, she didn’t know Alec would hurt her, it provided that she was a pure girl.Second, Tess’s love was pure.In the Talbothdays dairy, she met Angel Clare, an educated, reserved, subtle, sad and differing man.As time went on, they knew and loved each other.Angel popped the question to her but she refused him without saying why.She said she loved him deeply and perhaps no one in the world could love him more than she did but she could not marry him for some unspoken reason.Angel wasn’t satisfied with this vague answer and did his best to win Tess.Somehow she agreed and they soon fixed the wedding day.Soon after their wedding Angel confessed the crime he committed to a woman long time ago and asked for Tess’s forgiveness.Tess was not at all angry and forgave Angel at once;in fact she was rather happy and excited for she also had things to confess.She sat and told everything to Angel, hoping he would forgive her as he was forgiven but she was wrong.She was not forgiven, not as she thought she was the woman pays.Without Angel’s love, nothing meant anything to her.The result wasn’t important now.Tess was arrested for her murder of that so-called gentleman.Why? She still loved Angel and when he finally went back to her and asked for her forgiveness, after he regretted what he had done unfair to Tess, she was desperate.That was too late—Alec had always told Tess that Angel would never come back so he won Tess’s trust.Unluckily Angel did come back and found Tess.Everything was too late!Tess was deceived and she lost Angel for the second time!The strength of her love was so strong that she had forgotten the difference between right and wrong.Before that she had done nothing wrong but when she killed Alec, everything really changed!She became a criminal!How could it be? She was as pure and innocent as the good wife in the Bible.Her whole character was honest and faithful.Angel figured out at last that a person should be judged not only on what he has done but also on what he wanted to do!Tess’s impure in body served as a foil to her soul’s pure.She did not love Alec totally, so she tended to tell the truth to her lover.Tess didn’t want to be seduced by man and she had no power to defend herself so she lost her innocence and that’s all!Angel also did the wrong thing and it was even more serious than Tess’s crime but he was not blamed for it.Why it is always the woman who pays? Why they are always hurt? Why was Tess’s girlish purity lost? Why does the wrong man take the wrong woman? Why do the bad often ruin the good? Why is beauty damaged by ugliness? Women are too weak!Thousands of years of history have shown us that women have always been treated unfairly!In old China there was a culture, which didn’t think of women as human beings.If you asked one if he was the oldest in his family, he would probably answer “the oldest one” even if he had some elder sisters.If you asked why then he would say, “Ha, they are not included!”
People gave birth to many girls in order to have only one boy to keep the family name going.They thought girls had no use for the family.They would be married and go to live with their husbands’ home and be their wives some day sooner or later.So they were extremely hard on girls.Girls should be hard working, faithful, loyal, intelligent, and virtuous and the most important thing was she must be a maiden!If her husband was the first man who touched her then she was a good girl, a good wife no matter how she thought.If she wasn’t, then she would gain a very bad reputation and nobody would dare to go near her.What about men? People did not care whether he was an experienced man or not, nor did they care about his character.Now let’s not be so bitter.Nowadays women’s situations have become much better.Some are because of the change of society and some are because of civilization.Just let those poor painful women like Tess be just a memory.In short, as a girl, we should be self-loved and strong.

About the writer: Thomas Hardy Tess of the D’Urbervilles was written by the famous writer Thomas Hardy.Thomas Hardy(1840---1928), who is an English novelist.His father is a stoneworker, who is fond of music.His parents thought much of the education of their son.He grown up in the Dorset shire, so the environment of there became the main backdrop of his writings.His writings often reflecting the change after capitalism intrude the countries in England and the people’s hard life.At first, Hardy wrote some novels, and in his old age, he worked on poets.Tess of the D’Urbervilles was one of his “Wessex series” works.The book which I read was published in the year 1891.Thomas Hardy facing the terror of the war and propagating the love-kindness, he is one of the greatest English writers.The summary of the book Tess of the D’Urbervilles was about a beautiful and industrious girl Tess, all her life, her unfortunate life and her very tough love story.Tess comes from a farmer’s family, the Durbeyfields.One day her father, John Durbeyfied was told that they are descended from the D’Urbervilles, an ancient family.Herparents were so happy that they urged Tess to close to their relatives and wanted to look foe wealth who he thought at local.In fact, their relatives never thought that, because their immense property relied on usury and the family name was just moved from museum.Unwillingly, the girl comes in contact with the Stoke, D’Urbervilles.There she meets Alec D’Urbervilles.Having received a job of tending to chickens, Tess stays in the D’Urbervilles.Before long the rich but guileful Alec manages to seduce the girl and make her pregnant.Being disappointed and sad, Tess went home she found she had already had a baby.She gave birth to child between insult and abuse, but it was died in fancy, desperate she was, so she decided to another place and found a job at dairy factory in the South, where she meets Angel Claire.Angel lived in a very wealthy family priest and he did not want to follow his family’s career.Instead of going to university he decided to work on the farm and began his own career.But when he met Tess he found he loved her very much.He always wanted to help her and gave some knowledge to her.Even he wanted her to be his wife.Tess loved him at same time, but she could not love him because of what had happened in her past at that miserable time.She did not want him knew that.Angel did not know all of these.He wanted her married with him as soon as possible and Tess.In the wedding night, Tess admits about Alec D’Urbervilles and the child.She begs for forgiveness, but Angel leaves her in disgust.Tess again returns home alone, only find that her father died suddenly and their house was taken away by its owner.All her family was homeless.Tess was so helpless that she made minds writing to her husband and wanted him come back and protected her.At Brazil Angel was not quite good, also had a bad life.He regretted abandoning his wife very much and wanted to go home.In the meantime, Alec D’Urbervilles appears again.He promises to support her family, only as a means to make Tess dependent.At the end of hope, the girl jumps into the trap of the shameless man.However, Angel Claire, who is remorseful for his mercilessness comes back, which makes Tess even more desperate.After Angel leaves, she kills Alec.Then she follows Angel and escape with him.They manage to hide for a while in a wood before she is arrested.They had a very short happy time on the moors, but on a placidly morning she was arrested by police and then hang.Angle followed her will and married with his sister-in-law with great sorrow and confession, and began a new life.Good sentences

Tess’s parents loved her, but it was just an instinctive love;Alec said love to her, but it was an evil love;Angel said love to her as well, but it was an immature and selfish love.He wanted Tess to forgive him, but he couldn’t forgive Tess.In front of love, Tess was so humble.She wrote to her husband and said: I would be content, to live with you as your servant, If I may not as your wife.So that I could only be near you, and get glimpse of you, and think of you as mine.Although she loved him with all her passion, she had her own pride.She did not want to leave him use lots of methods, she just wanted him come back to her willingly, rather than forced him.When he left, she only said: May I write to you? God played with Tess so much.When her right man appeared, God yet didn’t give her happiness.Tess didn’t make any mistakes, but at last, she born all punishments and sufferings.At first, God had let the two persons miss each other.A tragedy was doomed.But perhaps no love, no hatred, no dignity, death was the best way for Tess to extricate herself.What the love really it is, it is worthy someone to afford their lives for it? Why only the women had to pay? I thought of these problems for a long time.In the 19th England, women had not status, they live very hard because people’s prejudice.Tess is the victim under the not fair environment, she lives with force, and even the law thinks the insults are allowable!At the end of the book, Fortune's wheel bereaves the last thing she had—her life.How to vindicate the women’s right?
