英语情景教学法的应用
情景教学法是在课堂上设置一些真实性和准真实性的情景来学习和使用知识, 在教学过程中,教师有目的引入和创设具有一定情感色彩的,以形象为主体具体的场景,以引起学生一定的态度体验, 从而帮助学生理解知识和技能,并使学生心理机能得到发展, 达到教学目的的一种教学方法。捷克教育家夸美纽斯曾说:“一切知识都是从感官开始的”。情景教学法能使学生身临其境或如临其境,给学生展示鲜明具体的形象,使学生从形象的感知达到抽象的理性思维和顿悟,从而激发学生的学习兴趣,使学习活动成为学生自觉活动。著名教育家陶行知先生说:“教学艺术就在于设法引起学生的兴味,有了兴味就肯用全副的精力去做事体。” 情景教学法,可激发学生的学习兴趣,英语教学中,巧用情境教学法不失为一条锦囊妙计。正如布鲁姆所说:“成功的外语课堂教学应当在课内创设更多的情境,让学生有机会运用已学到的语言材料。”
现行的中学英语教学由于缺乏语言环境 ,课堂40分钟的利用率如何,直接影响学生语言能力的提高和智力的开发。因此,应在初中英语的课堂教学中主动应用“情景教学法”,激发学生学习英语的兴趣,消除他们因为缺乏语言环境而产生的畏难情绪,发挥他们学习的主动性。可以提高学生的学习积极性,增强英语课堂教学的有效性.在平时的课堂教学中,我们可以尝试采用以下几种创设情景境的教学策略:
第一、运用游戏创设情景,有利于激发学生的学习兴趣
游戏是人类从儿童成长为成人的过程,是极自然的事,游戏注重过程的体验,在赋予儿童娱乐体验的同时,也促进儿童认知、情感和生活技能的发展,使学生在笑声中更有效地学习,更快地吸收知识,它作为英语教学的重要辅助手段,备受学生欢迎。因此,在英语教学中巧妙运用游戏,能有效地激发和培养学生的学习兴趣,树立学习自信心并促进学生的全面发展。英语课堂教学中创设游戏情境能使学生达到乐、学、练的结合及思维与想像的发挥。在适宜的情境中,用较短的时间达到最佳的效果,可以激发学习动机,发展多种能力,启发思维和想像力,对培养情感与个性都有很大的作用。
当然,英语游戏多种多样,例如,听命令做动作,根据特征描述猜人物等。只要我们处处留心,善于动脑,在教学中多创设一些游戏情境,这样不但能激发学生的兴趣,还能培养学生的创造性思维能力。
第二、利用多媒体教学手段 ,创设直观情景。
巴班斯基认为:“创设必要的教学物质基础,显然是有效地和高质量地发挥教育教学过程的条件。”计算机的信息存贮量大、处理迅速,具有方便的人机交互功能。在新课程的教学中,借助多媒体技术特别是把网络技术与课堂教学联系起来,用多媒体课件把声音、文字、图形、图像、动画、视频、等电脑多媒体与传统的教学媒体有机的结合起来,能实现英语教学中的“多信息,高密度,快节奏”。教师在自制课件辅助教学时,备课,课件的制作确实需要投入大量的时间和精力,然而课前的精心设计和准备,却能极大地提高课堂的教学效率。利用多媒体进行课堂操练时,可以通过程序设计,进行多层次,多角度的大容量操练,提高学习效率。此外,课堂上,教师只要点鼠标,就能在短时间里直观,形象地演示课文的逻辑结构,综合对学生听,说,读,写的培养,可以使教师少费口舌。在演示过程中,教师还可以控制演示速度,课堂节奏或添加停顿,既可作新知识的讲解,又可以跟据情况进行再现,作为复习巩固之用;同时教师还可以节省大量的板书时间,从而赢得了教学的时间,使基础知识的讲解更详尽,课堂练习容量和内容更为广泛有趣,新知识的巩固更为扎实,为减轻学生课外过重的课业负担提供了保障。
除此之外,运用多媒体创设教学情景,有利于提高教师的自身素质。做为一名英语教师,自已制作英语课件,也是一个重新备课的过程。一般要结综全考虑全课内容,审核重点、难点,设定应用课件的范围。因而需重新整理知识结构,使各个教学环节有机的联系。知识体系更清楚,掌握知识更准确,几乎相当于一次知识的再学习,能有效地提高和丰富自已。
第三、用故事创设情境,增添课堂教学趣味
故事是学生成长过程中不可缺少的一部分,它有生动的情节、丰富的情感,同时也蕴含着一定语言知识。故事不仅能吸引学生进入学习情境,同时也符合学生以形象思维为主的心理特点和学生学习语言的认知特点。因此可以在英语课堂教学中利用故事,采取多种活动形式,使新知识在故事中不断重复和巩固,以此激发学生的兴趣,提高教学质量。故事教学法是把英语的字、词、句放在生动的故事中学习,在听故事的同时听英语,在讲故事的同时学说英语,能激发小学生学习英语的兴趣,调动他们学习英语的积极性的一种教学法。故事教学使学生进入某中角色,感到不是在学英语,而是在用英语与别人交际,因此,故事教学培养了学生的语言表达能力。只要教师在教学中善于挖掘,单词,课文,句型等等内容都可以设计成有趣的故事,使学生饶有兴趣地配合教学。
故事教学是一种很好的英语教学方法,它不但激发了学生的兴趣,简化了学习内容,为学生提供了各方面的语言训练,还能帮助学生建立起一种外语的语感。由此看来,故事教学的确具备了许多优点。但是,运用英语讲故事毕竟是一种创造性的思维和语言活动,那如何在英语课堂里开展故事教学呢?
(一)恰当地选择故事内容。
故事教学的一个重要功用就是提高学生的学习兴趣,选择一个好的故事将是学生和老师共同学习的兴奋点。在选择故事时,教师可以考虑以下几个问题:(1)故事是否符合学生的年龄与兴趣特点?(2)故事中所使用的语言是否适合学生英语语言知识掌握的程度和理解能力?(3)文句节奏与韵律感能否吸引学生仿读?学生接受能力范围内的材料才能真正起到教学效果,教师要根据学生学习情况认真选择,否则,教学和教育的效果就要大打折扣。
(二)根据英语课堂的需要,合理有效地使用故事教学。
1、故事教学应用于单词教学。(1)讲故事,解决难的单词。
(2)讲故事,引出新单词,体会单词所包含的情感。
2、故事教学应用于句型教学。
3、故事应用于整堂课的贯穿,创设尽可能的真实情景,使得课堂充满趣味,整体性。
4、故事中涉及的词汇不能太难。
第四、运用英语歌曲来设置情境,是行之有效上午手段之一
运用英语歌曲不仅能渲染和烘托教学气氛也能稳定学生情绪,调节课堂节奏,活跃课堂气氛。提高学生学习和模仿的积极性,促进地道的、口语化的英语。比如刚上课时,学生情绪波动很大,此时如果用录音机放一首英语歌曲,让学生在轻松美妙的乐曲声中调节情绪,使之尽快进入角色,投入到英语学习中去,回起到很好的效果。英文歌曲能为英语教学提供丰富多样的资料。但以英语歌曲教学并不是很容易把握的,因此选择恰当的英文歌曲对教学来说很重要。英文歌曲的选择应满足以下几点:
旋律要优美,要符合中国的社会文化形式;歌曲所传递的信息应易于理解;歌曲的词句应非常清晰,能够适合进行语言训练;歌曲的内容应符合学生的水平或能满足特定的教学目的;所选歌曲应是健康向上、教人自信自强、激发人们奋发向上的励志歌曲。英文歌曲在教学中只是一种手段,教师一定要运用得当。
当然,创设英语课堂教学情境的方法还有很多,利用实物,简笔画,课堂表演等都可创设课堂教学情景。总之,教师可根据教材内容精心设计,认真创设与学生学习内容和生活实践相契合的情景,并灵活运用它来组织课堂教学,就能给课堂带来良好的学习氛围。心理学家托兰斯说:“我们想要创设就需要提出一个友善和奖赏的环境,以便使之在其中繁荣发展。”可见,好的情景设计能够让学生置身于一个美妙的学习氛围,感受语言,享受到语言沟通的快乐。因此,教师在创设情境时,不能为了创设情境而创设情境,或者只是简单地把教师主观认为较好的情境让学生去感受。无视学生的感受,或者情境设计过于虚假,没有用心地从教材,观察生活摄取材料,而人为编制一些单一重复令学生产生厌烦情绪的情境;或者某些情境过于简单,毫无挑战性,学生也会生厌。因此,创设恰如其分的情境,应当注意以下几个问题。
第一、创设教学情境要有利于师生间的教学互动
在英语情境教学活动中,必然导致学生的差异性问题。例如,有些人会成为情境中的“主角”,有些人会成为情境中的“配角”,而其他人可能只是“观众”。对此,教师应注意尽量保证情境中“角色” 分配的公平和机会均等,努力做到让每一位学生参与到情境教学的过程中。情境无处不在,无论是真实的或模拟的,教师应针对不同的教学内容,不同的教学对象,灵活地设置不同的情境,促进学生思考,让学生从不同的角度进行学习,使不同程度的学生都有适合自己的学习和思考内容。
第二、创设教学情景要掌握好参与的有利时机
时机掌握得好,往往能达到事半功倍的效果。在一堂课中,不仅在课的开始要通过情境设计,揭示矛盾,导入新课,还应在课的教学过程中不断进行情境设计,使问题不断深化,让学生经常处在发展问题与解决问题的各种矛盾之中。要创造好参与时机,多方设计,步步引导,让学生情不自禁进入学习状态。
第三、创设教学情境要具有可操作性。
有效的课堂教学情景,要根据具体的教学内容、学生实际情况、教学方法及教学资源等灵活采用。特别是学生分组时兼顾不同水平的学生,更好发挥小组活动中互相学习、合作学习的优势可能效果会更佳。所以,我们在英语教学中,情境的创设应有利于教学实际,而不能流于形式主义,使学生在宽松的氛围中真正掌握学习英语的基本技能和学习。
总之,语言源于生活,脱离实际生活的语言是不 “真实”的。一个语言枯燥的课堂是不能激发学生的学习兴趣的,只有将语言融入生活,它才会绽放魅力,才能提高学生的学习兴趣。为了培养中学生英语交际能力,我们必须巧妙地将授课内容与实际生活相联系,创设多种生活化教学情景,给每个学生搭建一个“活动的舞台”,让积极主动地参与到学习过程中来,在情境中学习、运用、巩固知识,提高语言实际运用能力,使学生得到全面的发展,有效地提高英语课堂教学效率。
一、问题提出的背景
当今世界,以信息技术为主要标志的科技进步日新月异。社会生活的信息化和经济活动的全球化使外语,特别是英语,日益成为我国对外开放和与国际交往的重要工具。学习和掌握一门外语是对21世纪公民的基本要求。
小学英语教学属于英语的启蒙教学,学生通过听、说、动、唱、玩等活动具备一定的语言基础,并获得初步的听说能力和一定的语感。根据小学生在接受新事物的心理、生理及学习特点,小学英语教学应该以提高学生的学习兴趣为主。创设和谐生动的情境,是提高学生学习兴趣,提高教学质量的一种很重要的教学技巧。我们知道,语言是一种社会现象,如果语言离开了情景和实践,它将成为无源之水,无本之木。人们在运用语言进行交际活动时,总离不开社会语言情景。所以人们常说“在国内学三年英语,不如到国外去学三个月”。作为一名英语教师,就应该给学生创设一种学“母语”的英语学习氛围——进行非常必要的“情景教学”。
二、具体的流程:
情境热身—确定目标— 情境学习-情境合作-检查反馈-情境展示-情境提升-归纳总结
1、“听”是人们交际活动的最基本形式,学生学会说英语的前提首先是听。教育家赞可夫说:“教学方法一旦触及学生的情绪和意志领域,触及学生的心理需要,这种教学就会变得高度有效。”讲究教学方法和教学艺术,才能收到良好的教育效果。在平时的教学中,教师坚持用英语组织教学,使课堂成为一个小小的英语世界,增加课堂上语言的广度和密度,这样会使课堂上的英语气氛浓厚。以
此来激发学生学习英语的兴趣,促进英语语感的发展,同时也能对学过的知识进行复习和巩固。这样可以给学生提供英语对话、表演、朗读的机会和时间,组织科学的教学方式,优化教学情景,使学生在情景语境中、耳濡目染中自然地学好英语,并始终保持浓厚兴趣。
2、小学英语教材从对学生的兴趣培养出发,教材本身蕴含着丰富的情景内容。如教科书全部采用彩色图画,情景会话贯串全套教材;教材紧密结合儿童好新奇、爱活动、善模仿、爱说、爱唱、爱跳、爱表演的特点编排和设计教材的内容与形式。教材中安排了大量的儿童喜闻乐见的歌曲、游戏、绕口令、谜语、小诗等和一些浅显易懂的寓言故事。充分挖掘教材内含,激发学生乐学情趣,实施直观教具,创设教学情景。在课堂教学中,教师可尽量使用实物或直观教具,以刺激学生的大脑兴奋。小学教材所体现的语言概念,语言现象、语言环境等,在日常生活中随处可见。如:打电话,问路,购物,道别等。教师可利用学生过去学过的知识,结合周围的环境,创设情景。
3、利用身体语言创设情境。身体语言是无声的语言,但它能对教学情境起到恰到好处的补充、配合、修饰作用,可以使学生获得最直观、最形象、最真切的感受,可以使学生加深对知识点的理解、记忆,可以使学生全身心地投入到情境中去,从而使他们更好地掌握有声的语言。
4、运用现代教学媒体,创设学习情景。随着教学中多媒体技术的引入,灵活运用各种电教手段,像TV、VCD、CAI等,为学生提供真实自然的语言使用示范,使教学变得生动、活泼、感染力强,让学生置身于以英语为母语的环境中,体验英语的实际运用。例如利用投影仪、投影片来教音标,清楚易懂;利用录音机、录音磁带听纯正的英文,培养学生的听力、音感;利用VCD、电视机来观看英文动画片,教学直观明了,学生也感兴趣„„运用电化教学手段,拓展了教学情景,多方面地调动学生的感官,让学生多渠道地获得信息,从而加大了课堂教学的密度。
三、教学法取得的初步效果 首先,情境教学要体现了学生的自主性与创造性。自主性主要体现在学生对角色的选择和对活动程序设计方面,创造性主要体现在学生对活动情境内容加工的灵活性方面,两者旨在全面调动学生学习与实践的积极性。背离自主性与创造性的情境教学必然是机械的和缺乏活力的,其刻板的程序规定与活动内容的僵化设计只能导致学生被动地重复简单的活动。
其次,情境教学要体现情与境的交融。在英语情境教学活动中,“情”与“境”是二个非常宝贵的资源,没有“情”与“境”的有机交融绝非是真正的情境教学,只能是一种费时泛味的低智力“游戏”。
第三,情境教学要实现情境教学中学生角色的互动。在英语情境教学活动中,必然导致学生的差异性问题。例如,有些人会成为情境中的“主角”,有些人会成为情境中的“配角”,而其他人可能只是“观众”。对此,教师应注意尽量保证情境中“角色”分配的公平和机会均等,努力做到让每一位学生参与到情境教学的过程中。这样,一方面可以实现学生之间在知识与能力等方面的相互启迪与促进,另一方面,又可以避免一部分学生因经常做“配角”或“观众”而导致学习情趣和能力发展滞后。诚然,特色的教学包涵许多方面。但特色的教学的确能给我们带来惊喜。
