On July 2, 1964, in a nationally televised address, President Lyndon B.Johnson spoke of the significance of the civil rights act that he was about to sign into law.The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which was the most sweeping civil rights legislation passed by Congress since Reconstruction, prohibited racial discrimination in employment and education, and outlawed segregation in public facilities.背景

平凡中的伟大
各位领导，老师，同学们：
大家好！我今天演讲的题目是《平凡中的伟大》。
“最美教师张丽莉”的名字早已传遍全中国，她应当成为影响一代教师的楷模。她在关键时刻舍生忘死救学生的壮举是一种正义冲动，源于平时的情感积累，形成于长年累月的行为习惯。这一壮举感动了她的学生们，感动了广大学生家长，感动了社会，也感动了在座的你和我。随着媒体的介入，一位可敬、可信的优秀青年教师的形象清晰地展现于公众视野。
张丽莉是一位好老师。虽然她很年轻，但走上讲台后很快得到了学生的爱戴、同事的认可与家长的尊敬。她的这些好品质、好作风有些是与生俱来，有些则得益于长期以来所受的教育，更多的则来源于她对于教育事业的热爱，来源于对于教师职业的追求。她，工作出色，却收入不高，但还是谢绝了改行转业的建议；她，虚心学习，诚信求教，从不懈怠，自备轻便小凳子挤时间去听课，每次听课都有心得体会以资改进教案；不曾做母亲的她，却像对待子女那样，爱自己的每一个学生；谁有了进步，都会得到她的鼓励和小礼物；她舍不得自己教过的每个学生群体，耿耿于“从最初的陌生到用心相处”，“期间夹杂的小冲突，穿插的大幸福”。
一个个细节，一个个故事，让我们更深地理解了教师的内涵：作为一个教师，她和中国其他千千万万名教师一样，热爱自己的工作，热爱自己的学生，教书育人，为人师表，默默无闻地履行自己的工作职责，恪守自己的职业道德，这就是她的平凡。当然，我们的每一位教师都可能是这样去做的，但反观自己，也许就是看似平凡的言行，我们都做得够吗？
老子说，上善若水；庄子说，大爱无言，大象无形。爱其实是平凡的，也是自然的，她像水一样包容万物，现于无形。这种爱发于本性，养于后天。你只有在日常生活和工作中去敬畏生命、敬畏真理、敬畏职责，这种像水一样的大爱才会充涌你的心间，才会自然的流露，才会在像张丽莉老师一样在危机瞬间用自然的行为碰撞出大爱的生命之花，成就了让世人敬仰、震撼的伟大。
亲爱的同志们，新的时代、新的教育理念为我们提出了新的课题，“最美教师张丽莉”为我们树立了崇高的榜样，让我们立师志，修师德，练师功，追求至美，从平凡开始。
