[摘 要]动机是影响英语口语学习的一个关键因素。本文对大学生英语口语学习动机类型进行了分析,并对在教学中如何通过激发学生的口语学习动机,促进学生学习英语口语的积极性,从而有效地提高学生的英语口语水平提出了建议。

一、英语口语学习动机概述
动机是激励人去行动的内部动因和力量,它是个体发动和维持行动的一种心理状态。英语口语学习活动也不例外,它的产生与维持总有其内部的、心理上的原因。这种内部的、心理上的原因就是英语口语学习动机。英语口语学习动机是影响学生学习英语口语的主要的非认知因素。对此,许多专家学者都曾有过非常精辟的论断。
Brown(1981)把动机归纳为以下三点:(1)整体动机(global motivation),指对英语口语(外语)学习的一般态度;(2)情景动机(situa-tion motivation),指在自然习得情况下学习者不同于课堂学习者的动机;(3)任务动机(task moti-vation),指对具体任务的动机。
动机研究专家Gardner和Lambert在20世纪50年代把英语口语(外语)学习动机归纳为“归附型动机”(integrative motivation)和“工具型动机”(instrument motivation)两大类[2J。归附型动机是指学习者对讲目的语的社团有真正的兴趣或有特殊的兴趣;希望能够更好地同使用目的语社团的人进行交际,期望参与或融入到目的语社团的社会生活,其最终目的是为了让自己能在目的语社团中生存,较为强调“survive”。工具型动机则是指学习者为了某一特殊的目的,如通过考试、获得某一职位以改善自己的社会地位和资格,或为了获取目的语国家的信息,如阅读科技文献等。
Dornyer吸收了主流动机心理学研究的有关理论,在多年实证研究的基础上,提出了英语口语(外语)学习动机三维结构模式。该模式从语言层面、学习层面和学习情景三个层面来界定和测量学习动机。它强调了语言学习动机的多维性质,反映了语言的三个不同层面,即社会、学习者个人和教育的主要问题。该研究在理论上丰富了英语口语(外语)学习动机研究的内容,推进了英语口语(外语)学习动机的研究和发展。
专家学者们对英语口语(外语)学习动机的含义、类型及其对英语口语(外语)学习的分析研究的主要目的之一就是为教学实践提供理论依据,为教学实践服务,以期更好地提高教学质量和学生的英语口语学习成绩。他们的研究结果表明:不论什么类型的动机对英语口语学习成绩都有帮助。为了帮助大学生确立学习动机,端正学习态度,学好英语口语,接下来我们对大学生的英语口语学习动机的类型进行分析。
二、大学生英语口语学习动机类型分析
大学生英语口语学习动机是在学习需要的基础上形成和发展起来的。学习需要的多样性决定学习动机的复杂性,学习动机的复杂性对学习效果有很大的影响。教学中我们发现:第一,一小部分学生学习英语口语是由于家庭背景或想要出国的需要,他们具有归附型动机。
第二,一部分学生学习英语口语的功利性和实用性目的非常明显,主要是为了应付考试,或考虑到毕业后如果在外企工作,经常要使用英语口语,同时英语口语程度的高低可能会不同程度地影响到求职或加薪升职,或者是为了生存等才努力学习英语口语的。他们的学习动机可归到工具型动机。
第三,一部分学生具有融合型口语学习动机,即归附型动机和工具型动机兼而有之。中国加入WTO后,对外交流越来越多,学习者对目标语国家的文化越来越感兴趣,渴望融入
目标语社团,渴望与目标语社团的人们进行交流、贸易等。他们学习英语口语一是为了生存,二是为了改善自己的社会地位。
第四,一部分学生学习英语口语的动机来自学生对英语口语的兴趣,动机的满足在活动之内。它不需要外界的诱因、惩罚来使行动指向目标,因为行动本身就是一种动力。他们的学习动机属于内在动机。
第五,一部分学生是由于外部诱因所引起的动机的满足不在活动之内,而在活动之外,是对学习带来的结果感兴趣。如有的学生是为了得到奖励,或不辜负父母的期望,取悦于老师等。他们所拥有的学习动机属于外部动机。
从以上大学生英语口语学习动机类型分析中我们得出这样一个结论:即学生在学习中持有不同的学习动机显然会有迥然不同的学习效果,这与他们的学习背景和各自的需要有密切的关系。
大学生学习英语口语的动机种类很多,对英语口语学习有很大的影响。为了提高学生运用英语口语的能力,提高口语水平,我们必须从端正学生的口语学习动机人手,针对学生的学习实际,采取行之有效的教学策略,使口语教学合理化、规范化,将大学生的英语口语学习的实际需要转化为他们的心理需要,营造有效的口语学习环境,增强大学生学习英语口语的自信心,激发学生的求知欲、兴趣、爱好等,尽量排除近期目标的诱惑,保持持久的英语口语学习兴趣,实现理想的融合型学习动机。
三、大学生英语口语学习动机的激发和培养
Dornyer和Csizer主持的问卷调查显示,提高学生外语学习动机的教学策略主要有十项。即:1)以身作则,树立榜样;2)创造轻松惬意的课堂语言学习环境;3)正确说明任务;
4)与学生建立良好的关系;5)增强学生的语言学习信心;6)使课堂学习充满乐趣;7)促进学生语言自主学习能力;8)使语言学习活动个性化;9)增强学生的学习目标意识;10)让学生熟悉目的语文化。他们认为在教学过程中可以通过这些方式来激发和培养学生学习口语的动机,同时也是指导教师组织课堂教学的宏观策略。但我们认为在以学生为主体的英语口语教学中,除了以上十项策略以外,还可以从以下几个方面来激活学生的口语学习动机,发挥学生口语学习的积极性,提高英语口语水平。1.改进教学模式
(1)创建以学生为中心的主题交际模式
基于学生在知识、智力、情感、个性等方面的需求以及学生口语练习机会少的现象,在教学中我们必须改变传统的以教师为中心的教学模式,创建以学生为中心的主题交际模式,如:pair work,roleplay,group discussion,presentation等,引导他们围绕日常生活、所学专业、社会焦点等方面的主题进行大量循序渐进的交际活动,为学生提供开口说英语的机会。同时还可以通过角色扮演,创造模拟场景,让学生身临其境,掌握各种题材的语言功能(如:如何购物、接送旅客、问路、看病等)。这些场景不仅能使学生对所学的内容记忆深刻,而且一旦在生活中处于类似的语境,学生就能从容面对。这样的教学模式既能培养学生的学习动机,也能提高学生的英语口语水平。
(2)创建以学生为中心的多媒体网络技术教学模式
多媒体网络技术应用于英语口语教学中能以图、文、声、相并茂的形式将教学内容呈现在学生面前,能使口语教学化静为动,化抽象为具体,为教师提供丰富的教学内容,为学生提供多样化的学习方式,能形象地将口语操练置于身临其境的情景中,能提高学生的口语学习兴趣,激发学生的学习动机,调动学生交流的主动性,有利于英语口语能力的培养。下面两种教学模式值得一试。
一是多媒体网络技术中的演示型教学模式。教师在备课时,可以将学生在口语课上可能
会遇到的问题与要讨论的话题内容以提纲或摘要的形式,通过PowerPoint or Authorware做成电子教案,把图象、动画、语言、音乐等链接到演示文稿中,借助计算机把教案的内容以动态的形式清晰地呈现在学生面前。这样对于他们表述的比较难的概念、行为或相关的背景知识能起到提示作用,能降低学生的焦虑心理,达到进行语言操练的目的。
二是现实模拟型教学模式。语言实践与一定的情景是分不开的,通过计算机处理,创造仿真现实的学习情景和操作过程,让学生在恍若现实的情景中通过人机对话与世界各地的学习者用英语交谈。教学中还可以让学生扮演各种不同的角色与不同类型的人物进行交流,使他们获得前所未有的语言实践体验。由于现实模拟型教学的适用性和无结构性,学生可以自己制定口语学习目标,决定口语学习的内容和路径,同时还可以为成绩较差的学生提供宽松的学习环境,从而满足不同的学习者的要求。
2.组织丰富多彩的课堂活动和课外活动
(1)形式多样的课堂活动
传统的英语口语课堂教学活动主要是提问、句型操练、朗读、背诵等,教学中仍然是以教师为主、学生为辅的模式,往往一堂课下来老师说得多,学生说得少,忽视了口语的训练,造成了学生英语的“聋哑症”。因此,口语课教学中,我们要根据教学内容,学生的兴趣,组织课堂发言、情景对话、角色扮演、看图说话、话题讨论、主题辩论、讲故事、编故事等各种各样丰富多彩的课堂活动,创造性地运用各种教学手段,尽可能地为学生提供口语练习的机会。如讲故事和编故事就是两种很好的课堂口语训练方式。为了使每个学生都有开口的机会,讲故事可以采用接力的形式,把全班分成几排,由第一个同学开始讲一个故事或者读一个故事,然后往后传,到最后一个同学后,又由他传给第一个同学,这样既能保证每个同学都有练习的机会,又能让学生相互听懂对方的话,真正达到语言操练的目的。编故事可以先把学生分成几组,由某个同学开个头,如,Last Sunday,I wentto the zoo with my family……然后由同学们接着往下编故事,每个学生加一句他愿意说的话,每个小组选一个学生作记录并加以整理,最后每组派一个同学在全班陈述故事。尽管故事用了统一的开头,但各组编的故事内容不同。结果不仅收到了令人满意的效果,而且大大地激发了学生的口语学习兴趣并唤起其强烈的口语学习动机。
(2)生动活泼的课外活动
要提高学生的英语口语水平仅仅靠课堂几十分钟的活动是永远不够的,语言的实践是离不开语境的。因此我们要拓宽口语训练的思路和渠道,组织英语角,成立英语剧社、英语俱乐部,举办英语口语竞赛、辩论赛,观看英语原版录相等课外活动,开辟丰富多彩的英语口语训练第二课堂。如果条件许可的话,还可以组织学生表演简单的英语话剧或名剧片段,或者是直接参加一些涉外活动,如担任口头翻译、接待外宾、观摩涉外业务洽谈等,让学生运用所学的口语知识,去解决实际中的交际问题。这样既可以使学生了解到口语知识的意义和价值,也能满足学生得到社会承认的自我完善的需求,激发他们掌握更多知识、探索更深入的问题的愿望以及更加努力学习英语口语的动机。
总之,若以上这些活动能切实注重内容和深度,而不是流于形式与肤浅;能贯彻四个“最大限度”:让学生直接参于课堂活动的时间达到最大限度,让学生直接参与课堂活动的覆盖面达到最大限度,让学生的交际真实性达到最大限度,让学生相互学习的机会达到最大限度,定能有效地调动学生英语口语自主训练的能动性与创造性,激发学习动机,大大提高其语言的理解能力和输出能力,迅速提高英语口语水平。

am when I put on this ZARA dress, I found its label writes this: “Designed in Spain. Made in Vietnam.” And it is now available all over the Chinese market. ZARA is the fastest among various fashion brands. With advantages generated by globalization, from raw material to labor, from warehouse to shipping, it takes only 12 to 15 days for ZARA to turn a design on sketch paper to clothes on shelves. Globalization has eliminated numerous barriers and made the world flat ever since it gained momentum in the 1990s.
But recently it seems to be rolled back by someone like Donald Trump in US and Marine Le Pen in France. Public opinions are being misled by their claim that recoiling from globalization seems to be the panacea to the two most urgent problems troubling many people in the west—employment and refugees. But can we buy the story? Withdrawing from TPP seems to be an act that can move factories back from third world countries so that new jobs can be created and therefore unemployment rate reduced. However, the cost of the products would also be raised since the labor at home and the transport of raw materials are more expensive, which causes greater pressure on all the families in terms of household expenditure.
People may manage to get new jobs but the living standard does not improve. And this is the story that anti-globalization politicians would never tell to the voters. In addition to the concern of employment, the influx of refugees also touches a highly sensitive nerve. Rejecting asylum seekers may promote domestic security in the short run, but it tramples what’s equally important--humanitarianism and responsibilities. Refugees such as those from Syria are not born refugees; they are made refugees by the Wars that shattered their homes and countries. The real solution therefore is not isolation but globalization because globalization promotes interdependence among nations whereby conflicts and wars are more likely to be prevented.
Yes, there are defects in globalization, such as environmental deterioration, polarization between the rich and the poor, and exploitation of workers, to name just a few. But what we need to do is not putting an end to it but putting it right. As the second largest economy of the world, China should hold a lead. We should promote global governance fight against contamination. We should strike a balance between efficiency and equity so that different countries, different social classes and different groups of people can all enjoy the benefits of globalization. Globalization has just stepped into its twenties, pretty much like us young adults. Every twenty something is so energetic, striding to achieve more and surely deserving a second chance to pull back from the deviation. As we consumers are enjoying benefits and convenience brought by ZARA and other international brands, we see clearer that the question now is not whether to accept or reject globalization but how to make it fairer, cleaner and a win-win for all.

摘 要
05年佛山市初中英语口语考试工作在3月中旬结束,我们欣喜的看到学生的整体口语水平和语感有了明显的提高,欣赏到不少学生纯正、流利的口语和充满感情的朗读。但是我们也不得不承认还有一大部分的学生朗读时在语音、语调、意群等方面把握不好,信息点采集不够准确,甚至还出现滥竽充数等让人哭笑不得的事实。这反映了在我们的教学过程中,对学生口语训练方面的缺乏与轻视,重笔头不重口语,造成了学生普遍存在口语能力水平参差不齐结果。本文主要通过教与学的过程中存在的一些问题,探索初中英语口语训练的方法与策略。关键词 初中英语 口语现状 训练策略 正 文
一、存在问题分析:
(一)教学方面
“学习英语应该从娃娃抓起”!近几年来,较发达城市的小学
都开设了英语课程,在游戏中学、在活动中学,以听说为主的教学模式下,培养了一大批“英语小天才”,他们纯正流利的口语,惟妙惟肖的英语表演,都为他们日后的英语学习奠下了很好的基础。可由于没有明确的语音教学要求,学生只能靠教师的课堂教学或教材录音来强硬的记忆单词发音。大多时候英语教师的水平决定了学生英语的水平,教师自觉提高本身的英语口语水平是关键。学生没有掌握语言学习所应具备的基本工具——英语国际音标,有的也多为个别教师的实践操作而已。上了初中以后,升学任务重,语法讲授和知识点的讲解成为主干,拼命赶课时、埋在题海的情况是众所周知的。师生放在口语训练的时间确实少之又少。个别学校行同虚设的早读也因没有具体的朗读任务和朗读要求导致学生应付式为多,语调平淡拖拉、唱读情况十分普遍。语音教学错过几道良机!
(二)学生方面
应试教育也直接影响到学生对英语口语的认识,长期以来的“老师讲,学生听”导致的“哑巴英语”现象使学生口语水平分化十分严重。下面就以05年佛山口语考试的某一篇短文为例,谈谈目前学生英语口语方面存在问题:
1、短文开篇出现了一个让英语教师比较尴尬的情况,United States在学生口里变成了Unit Satellite, Unit star等等,在所评的170份录音答卷中,朗读正确的学生人数竟不到10%。回想原因,也不能全是学生的责任。在初中教材中通常以the USA出现,television以TV出现,还有一些词如desert, Hopi, raise, local(生词),modern, main, telephone, houses, horses, trucks…都是学生比较薄弱的。因此学生朗读起来出现断句,反复的现象,整体感觉不理想,扣分严重。
2、大多数考生朗读时的语音、语调、意群等方面把握不好,也反映了我们在教学过程中对学生口语训练方面的缺乏与不重视。学生词汇不过关,基础薄弱,学生凭印象记单词,知道中文意思却读不准,语调平淡,唱读等情况较为严重。他们到了9年级,要口语考试了,才来恶补什么是语音语调和重音,怎样分好意群,造成恶性循环,最后以无力回春,失败告终。
3、考生心理素质还需要进一步的辅导。由于考试临场紧张,主要表现在优秀学生朗读时太快或太慢。有的太小声,murmur的感觉多一点。遇到不熟悉的材料时紧张,朗读不完整、反复、读错单词等现象。
二、解决策略
(一)各年级阶段性落实各项语言实践目标:把口语的训练重点 放在初
一、初二,分阶段完成。
七年级:在国家标准课程的规定下增加口语训练课,落实语音基础与单词拼写之间的相互联系,落实学生对语音、语调、意群划分等基本技能。以国际音标过关为主,教会学生利用拼读规则记忆单词,能准确地拼读出单词,能划分意群,有感情地朗读和表演对话、小短文,逐步养成良好的朗读习惯和敢于表达的交际技能;
八年级:强化语音语调在英语中作用,走入情景,体会内涵把握篇章的重点。以篇章的朗读为主配以上机的实践操作。增加阅读训练课重点训练回答问题部分的信息点收集专练。
九年级:查漏补缺,布臵录音做好个别辅导,让学生把握朗读技巧的前提下,抓朗读整体效果,增加写作训练课,注重口语表达,简化口语考试压力。
(二)把握科学的英语口语训练方法
1、口语基本知识:
a)口语基本要素:语音包括语调、语气、音量、音长等。由于说 话人的语气不同和情景不同,意思可以是完全相反。例如:The door is open.试一试你能表达出来这意境吗?外面刮大风,你很冷;你的钥匙遗留在家里,你却发现……;小偷进屋偷窃,来到门前发现……;昨天你值日,忘记关门,今天一上学,老师就批评……等等。
b)口语表达的基本要求:清晰、流畅、响亮和情景化。书面语停 顿的是标点符号,口语靠的是情感的处理和语气变化,即词与词(组)之间、句子与句子之间的间歇的时间来表现。
c)口语的综合性:系统的综合,注意语音语调感情等的综合考虑 如果语调没有变化,那么语言是枯燥的,如果没有加脸部表情或身体语言,语言是不生动的。听者可以通过朗读者说话者来感受文章的内容和对短文的理解。
(三)利用网络环境,提供虚拟或真实的语言训练空间
对口语的能力的培养,离不开环境。计算机和网络和发展,为学生提供了更为广阔而真实的空间。以网络技术和多媒体技术为核心的信息技术为学科教学注入了无限生机与活力,和过去相比,学习者可获得的教学资源大大增加了,计算机辅助语言教学(Computer Assisted Language Learning简称CALL)是外语教学发展的新趋势。网络辅助语言教学(Web Assisted Language Learning 简称WALL)(祝智庭,2001)已经兴起。教师可以通过网络为学生提供丰富的学习资源,将大量的信息以多媒体形式如文本、图片、声音、视频等呈现给学生;教师可以通过制作内容丰富、形式多样的网络课程为学生提供学习环境;在外语教学信息化的发展进程中,CALL和WALL必然会使初中英语口语教学产生重大变革。随着学习资源的迅速膨胀,有效地利用信息技术来获取信息资源已经成为新型口语学习模式的重要特征。
(四)学生的自我提高口语的意识和途径
仔细研究和分析口语比较好的学生,我们可以看出“对英语很感兴趣”、“经常听有关的英语录音、英文歌曲”、“喜欢看英文报刊、书籍、影像”等都是他们的共性所在。因此除了教师的正确引导和辅导之外,学生的自主学习也是提高英语口语的一个关键所在。结束语
考试就像一支指挥棒,它带动着整个教学第一线的动态发展。英语口语考试的实施,对学生的听说读写的要求更加全面,作为第一线的初中英语教师,任重而道远。如何在初中阶段落实对学生语言学习能力的培养,特别是口语方面的能力已刻不容缓。它让我们更深刻地认识到循序渐进,分阶段落实学生语言能力培养的重要性。让我们在教学第一线中不断地总结,寻求一种符合语言学习特点,为培养新型的口语运用能力强的新一代中学生而努力。
