Describe an advertisement that you saw or heard or liked
You should say:
Where you saw or heard it
What kind of advertisement it was
What the content of the advertisement was(or, what product /service was advertised)
and explain how you felt about this advertisement/ why you liked it.1-4月雅思口语新题part2范文之:喜爱的广告(advertisement)
There are several types of advertisements that we see daily on TV, billboards, through the Internet, social networking sites, mobile applications, and mobile games. Many of them are very banal, full of
their primary focus is to express the positive sides of a product to increase the sales. Finally, quite a few of them are creative, informative, humorous, fascinating and memorable.I usually do not like to watch advertisement between a movie/ TV programme and large commercial breaks are quite annoying to me.I personally think that the best way of advertising is using billboards, which can lead you to remember the brand name forever without actually annoying you.Well, the best advertisement I have ever seen that I still like for its uniqueness was on a highway in the United Arab Emirates and I really liked the idea of this advertisement. One day while passing the main road a big billboard caught my eyes.It was designed to look like the filtration zone of a cigarette which is commonly known as the cigarette butt. The large billboard was quite different in shape and it presented the message ‘Stop smoking even Marlboro’ quite visibly.I stole a glance at the billboard and thought about the message it conveyed.I actually did not think much and forgot about it.After an hour I found myself in front of a beach with a packet of Marlboro cigarette in my pocket. While I was lighting a cigarette, I was
brand! To my surprise, I realised that the advertisement that I saw on the road had an immense effect on my psychology unconsciously.I was convinced that the billboard had forced me to buy that brand unconsciously.I think it was the first time I realised how advertisements can target people's unconscious mind.Technically speaking this is the moment I realised that the best way to influence people’s buying behaviour is to use their unconscious mind instead of trying to deliver marketing speeches. When I thought more to analyse the billboard advertising and its effect on me, I realised that the advertiser tried to use reverse advertising techniques by delivering the message that Marlboro is less dangerous and smokers who wish to quit smoking should try this.Possibly all smokers-from light smokers to heavy ones, wish a day without smoking though many of them do not try hard. Then the billboard advertisement was pretending as if they were broadcasting an important public safety message. Moreover, they used a fascinating design on the billboard that would actually grab anyone's attention. As you can see, they were quite successful as I still remember this advert very vividly and I like this advertisement due to the creative thinking of the maker.

Describe a visitor in your home)
I’m going to talk about an occasion when a very close friend of mine visited where I live.He is a Chinese person. His real name is Xin Lin, but we usually call him by his English name, which is Steven. He was studying in the same university with me in England when we did our Master’s last year, and we both lived in the same flat in the university halls of residence. We were so close with each other because we spent a lot of time cooking and talking with each other, but we haven’t met for a few months since we left England.
So the occasion was a month ago when he visited Vietnam to travel. He had never been to my country although China is right next to Vietnam. So, he decided to come to my country to visit me.We were really excited to meet each other again, and he was excited as well to come to my house for the first time.I invited him for dinner, and I myself cooked something very special for him, which was a traditional Vietnamese dish.We talked a lot during the meal, and we reminded each other of the memories we shared in England.I was very happy when Steven came to see me.The reason is because we had not had a chance to see each other for a long time, and you know, it always feels good seeing an old friend. The occasion brought back a lot of good memories that I think I can never forget.

Describe an interesting subject that you learnt in the school. You should say: What the subject was What your teacher was like How long you learnt this subject and explain why you thought it was intersting Describe a science that you are interested in.
I would like to talk about chemistry,a branch of physical science(自然科学)that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of matter(物质).Chemistry is a compulsory course for third-year junior school
students and for all senior high-school science students.I,of course, studied it since the last year in junior high school. In high schools, most students are apt to learn chemistry by doing numerous quizzes, some even by rote(死记硬背).I,instead, took a unique approach. Before each class,I would get fully prepared;do my best to find the law(规律)of reaction among the atoms(原子),molecules(分子)or chemicals bonds(化学键)etc, and search relevant information online. Also,I watched videos of cutting-edge(尖端的)scientific discoveries and intriguing/compelling/scintillating(有趣的)stories of the scientists mentioned in the chapter I was going to study.Apart from those,I engrossed myself in chemical experiments,as long as I was available. In my first
Chemistry
class,I
was
fascinated
by
the structures, shapes, colors, and smells of chemicals my teacher showed to the class.Ever since then, my passion/zest(极大的兴趣)for chemistry has been ignited.I very much wanted to delve into(钻研),and unveil the myth of(揭开神秘面纱),Chemistry.
Ok then, well the subject I’d like to talk about is Economics, because it was one of the few classes that I actually enjoyed, and this was in no small part due to the fact that we had a really great teacher for it.And as for what makes me say that, well first of all, he had a knack of being able to make all of his classes really interesting, and he did this by always asking us questions and getting us to think deeply about all kinds of things related to Economics. So for example, he would often start class by telling us a story that was in some way connected to what we would be going through that day, after which he would then ask us how we thought the story ended, and this really kind of helped arouse our curiosity in the subject. So that’s one thing, and another thing I liked about him was the fact that he seemed to take a genuine interest in all of us, and I could see this in the way he spoke and listened, because you know, it’s pretty easy to tell whether or not a teacher really cares about teaching, and with him I could tell straight away that he enjoyed teaching us and had our best interests at heart. But anyway, as for how long I studied Economics for, well basically, it was for two years during high school, so it wasn’t really for all that long, which was a bit of a pity, because as I mentioned earlier, I really enjoyed the classes. And one more thing to mention about them, which I don’t think I’ve said yet, is that we hardly ever went through the text book, which was such a refreshing change from all the other classes I had.So instead, our teacher, who was called Mr.Guise, by the way, would give us things like newspaper clippings or magazine articles to read and discuss, and by doing this, we came to realize just how significant a role Economics played in our lives. So as you can imagine, this made the classes so much more fun than they otherwise would have been if we’d just ploughed through the text book, and I’m very grateful to Mr.Guise for this.

Are your friends mostly your age or different ages? Most of my friends are about the same age as me because we met at school or university.I've got one or two friends who are older or younger that I met through work. Do you usually see your friends during the week or at weekends? I tend to meet up with my friends at weekends because everyone's too busy during the week. The last time you saw your friends, what did you do together? It was one of my friends' birthday last weekend.Six of us went out for a meal to celebrate. In what ways are your friends important to you?
I think it's important to have friends that you can talk to and share experiences with.My friends make me laugh, but I know I can also rely on them whenever I need help or support.名字
How did your parents choose your name? To be truthful, I’m not sure how they chose it;I’ve never asked them.I suppose it was just a name that they both liked, and maybe they thought it suited me. Does your name have any special meaning? I think it might do, but I don’t know what that meaning is;I’ve never looked it up.Maybe I’ll google it later today;you’ve made me curious to find out! Is your name common or unusual in your country? Yes, it’s quite a common name.I remember that there were two other people with the same name as me in my class at school. If you could change your name, would you? Not at all, I definitely wouldn’t.My name is part of my identity now, and it would feel strange to suddenly change it.I don’t think my friends and family would like that either.摄影
Do you like to take photographs? Why? If it were 3 to 4 years ago the answer would be a big no.But now it has become one of my hobbies and I’m actually thinking of learning more about it.I had no idea what I can do with my iPhone until I learned to make use of its wonderful camera as well as some miracle apps.Unlike some people, I indeed want my photos to look unique, lively and a little bit professional. Do you prefer to take photos yourself or to have other people take your photos? Why? It would be way more comfortable taking photos myself, as I can see crystal-clear how ridiculous my face expression looks like or if there’s something on my hair or stuck between my teeth. And in case it’s a scenery photo, I can apply the techniques I’ve learned to produce stunning photos. Crystal-clear(adj.)=absolutely clear How long have you liked taking photographs? Just recently. As a final year student, I no longer can spend hours on drawing, reading or singing.Only photography which is way more instant suits me now to document my life. And as I enjoy my life on this campus, for example the road I walk to school everyday, the sunset, the rainbow, the trees, photography is the best way to store my memories. In what situations do you take photographs? As I’ve mentioned, I snap a photo of anything that catches my eyes when I’m in a good mood.So I take photos when my friends and I hang out or when I participate in social activities of the university and meet amazing people. However, when it comes to practicing for professional photography, I prefer taking photos of scenery and foods. What kind of photos do you like to take? Why? Food and scenery are definitely my inspiration.I just can’t sit still when beautiful breakfasts and stunning landscape keep appearing on my Instagram everyday. What is more, it is my natural instinct that helps me to go find the simple uniqueness of my university, namely the sunset, the lake, the trees and flowers and show people how beautiful my university is.However, I’m not good at taking photos of people so activities or street-life is not my style. How(why)did you become interested in photography? The situation was quite all of a sudden.I posted some scenery photos I took on the spur of the moment on Instagram and received lots of compliments, even from those whom I’m not following. Then I realized I should develop this skill, you know, should take it seriously and keep up the good work. And the more I learn about it, the more passionate I become. How often do you take photographs? Not too often I must say.Since I really don’t like posting boring photos with the same object all the time, so timing is everything.I believe my guts will know exactly when and how I should flick to produce high-quality photos. Do you prefer to take pictures of people or of scenery? I think I’m gonna go for taking scenery photos. As a beginner, the knowledge of human facial expression, the part that needs focus, the harmonization between them and their surroundings are a bit too advanced for me.I can’t really make the person in my photo become lively as I do with the scenery.Besides, looking at the beauty of nature and capturing it is kind of mind-purifying to me and is a good way to escape from the artificial world. So yeah, scenery is safer and more enjoyable. Who do you take photos of? Although I’m not good at taking photos of people, I do take selfies with new friends whom I meet when I participate in social activities. To me it’s more like a reminder or something to look back, reminding me that yeah, this time last year I went out, I met amazing people and had lots of fun. How do you keep your photos? Printing the photos out, making an album or sticking them on the wall for decoration sound so common and also interesting. But I don’t think photos are worth that much time and budget, unless what I captured is apparently important to me, otherwise I only keep them in my iPhone. Do you keep your photographs on your computer? I don’t think I need to do so.Firstly, because my memory is somewhat similar to goldfish memory, storing in different devices would drive me crazy.Plus, my iPhone has large memory storage so I think I won’t need computer for storage. Are there any photos on the walls of your house? Since my parents love decorating our house, putting photos nicely on the walls of my house is an essential part of their decoration style. Some photos go with frame or plastic cover, some are stuck directly onto the wall in heart-shaped.However, it’s quite ridiculous for me to see myself grinning everywhere in the house so I told them to let me decorate my room on my own. Do you frame(or have you framed)any of your photos? Although I don’t usually print my photos out, I think I would store some photos of me with my high school friends or me with my family. And framing helps preventing scratching and is good for long-term storage, so this is probably a good alternative beside albums. Do you prefer to send postcards to people or to send photos that you took yourself?(Why?)Firstly, the postcards are made of thicker paper, which makes it way more convenient for long-term storage as well as decoration.Secondly, the process of sending and receiving postcards appeared to be simpler and faster compared to photos. For those reasons I think I probably go with sending postcards.
