九年级英语拓展阅读研究

随着社会的发展和基础教育英语新课程改革的稳步推进,用英语获取信息和处理信息的能力显得愈发重要,阅读是发展这种能力的途径之一,在英语教学中占有十分重要的地位。

作为市初中新课改实验基地,我们学校一直关注英语阅读教学,发展学生阅读能力。为了使我们的阅读教学更加完善,形成自己的特色,我们组织申报了全国基础外语教育研究培训中心课题“拓展阅读体验,有效提升中国学生英语阅读能力实验”子课题“初中英语合作阅读教学研究”,课题自开题以来进展顺利。为了了解全县初中英语阅读教学的现状,学习借鉴兄弟学校好的经验,促进课题研究进一步开展,同时也为了让全县的初中英语老师了解“全国基础外语教育研究培训中心”,了解我们的课题,共同探讨阅读教学的有效策略,推动全县初中英语阅读教学,在县教育局教研室的支持下,我们组织召开了“全县初中英语阅读教学研讨会”。会议期间,我们对参加会议的老师进行了问卷调查,基于本次调查,我们结合近三年来全县初中英语教学视导检查的情况对初中英语阅读教学现状进行了分析。

一、关于课内阅读教学

学习英语,单词是基础,学好单词最重要的一点是要朗读和阅读文章,要在文章中大量接触和熟悉单词。如果学生能坚持一天大声朗读一篇文章,哪怕是一小篇,英语水平就会有很大提高。这就是为什么新课标要求初中毕业时“除教材外的阅读量要达到15万词”(教育部,2001)的原因之一。现在的问题是我们好多学生没有适合的文章去读,同时即便有了也不知道如何在朗读的基础上去理解文章。这就要求我们老师在传授知识的同时要注重培养学生的阅读理解能力。这种能力的培养,关键是要抓住新教材中的阅读部分。

由于考试的大部分基础题目都来自阅读部分,因此,一部分教师认为必须详细讲解课文的语言点,否则,考试就会出问题。因此,在每教授完一个单元的阅读部分后,教师总有一种心理释放的感觉──这一单元任务基本完成了。还有一种观点是,课文是用来阅读的,是培养学生阅读能力的重要途径,能力在先,但为了考试,语言点也要详细讲解。对此,我们设计了这样一个问题:在阅读课的教学中,您是注重。A.语言知识的讲解

C.两者兼而有之。结果选A和B的占31.72%,选C 的为68.28%。可以说,这是新课程改革带来的可喜变化,说明我们的一线老师观念变了。但在实际的操作过程中,由于缺乏理论的指导,许多老师在处理阅读教学时往往注重的还是对文本语言知识的“精耕细作”,而学生阅读能力的培养却被忽视了。也就是说,老师们在处理文本语言知识与学生能力培养之间的关系时存在严重的偏差。这是当前阅读教学中存在的普遍现象,应引起我们的关注。

这种现象在我们接下来的问题中得到了印证。在教学每个单元的阅读时,您给学生设计的问题是在讲解语言点之前出示给学生,还是在讲解完语言点之后?有71.3%的老师回答“在讲解完之后”。试想,一篇文章都被我们支离破碎地讲解“透”了,再给学生一些问题来回答,还谈得上阅读能力的发展吗?程晓堂(2006)对此曾作了精辟的论述,他认为:必须明白课文的首要功能不是作为知识的载体;课文首先是用来阅读的;阅读的目的主要是培养阅读能力,其次是提供语言输入和文化输入。

观念的改变是培养学生阅读能力的前提,如何培养、发展学生的阅读能力才是关键。我们使用的教材中每一单元的阅读后都设计了诸多类型的练习,这些练习是培养、发展学生阅读能力,巩固语言点的有效载体,在教学中,我们应该加以充分利用,由学生通过各种形式的小组活动来合作完成。学生完成任务的过程实际上就是一个合作、互动、创新的过程。教师应该培养学生的合作意识和合作学习能力,让他们知道用什么工具、通过什么途径去收集有价值的信息和资料。合作学习不仅要让学生了解对方的观点,而且要学会表达自己的观点,在此基础上学会讨论问题的要领和方法(朱惠芳,2003)。但我们在视导检查和调查中发现,好多老师不能根据学生的学习情况很好地运用这些练习,其中最重要的原因之一是这些练习不是选择题,与各种测试中的题型不太相符。在我们的调查中,有69.12%的老师对这一部分练习是按教材顺序进行处理的,只是为了完成教学任务;而根据学生学习情况,结合能力培养、发展的层次进行重新整合的老师只有30.88%。

教材是学生学习和教师教学的重要内容和手段。教师要善于结合实际教学需要,灵活地有创造性地使用教材,对教材的内容、编排顺序、教学方法等方面进行适当的取舍或调整(教育部,2001),这是新课程标准对教材使用提出的建议。很显然,我们的老师在这方面做得还远远不够。教材是不变的,而学生却千差万别,怎能千篇一律的照搬教材呢?对于优秀的学生,课文后的问题显得太容易,吃不饱;对于基础差的学生,这些问题又太难,吃不了。因此,除了对阅读后的练习进行顺序调整之外,必须根据教学情况再进行适当的补充和删减。在我们的调查中,当问及在阅读课教学过程中,您是否会根据学生的实际语言水平设计不同类型的问题让学生回答或让学生自己设计问题,进行合作交流时,有76.36%的老师的回答是“否”。当我们的教学不能满足学生的需求,不能调动学生参与的主动性时,其有效性一定会大打折扣的。

二、关于阅读题型、题量和试卷评讲

教材中的阅读及其后面的练习是培养、发展学生阅读能力和综合应运英语语言能力的主渠道,是每个单元教学的重点。除此之外,学生的阅读能力还来自我们一次次的测试中的阅读理解。在视导检查和平时的观察中,我们发现做试卷中的阅读理解几乎成了学生除教材之外的全部阅读资源,对这些阅读理解的评讲成了培养学生阅读理解能力最重要的手段之一。因此,平时测试卷中有关阅读的题型、题量以及老师的评讲方式对于培养、发展学生的阅读能力和阅读技巧起着十分重要的作用。但在实际的教学中我们却发现,就是这最能体现学生阅读能力的各类测试中,阅读理解的题型设置以“选择性”为主,题目的数量很小,老师对阅读理解的评讲大都只是“翻译翻译”、“对对答案”,在这样的局面下,学生的阅读理解能力根本不可能得到很好的发展。我们应该关注这些方面,研究这些方面,改变这种现状。

在平时的测试或期中、期末调研考试中,阅读理解通常有两篇,有时甚至只有一篇,且客观选择题偏多,主观笔答题较少。这是我们调查统计的结果。之所以出现这样的现象,受传统标准化题型的影响是主要原因,但命题者的命题思想却是关键。往往命题者在命制试卷时既要考虑试题的选择性,又要考虑阅卷的方便性,既要考虑试题的难易性,又要考虑学生的适应性。毕竟,我们的学生早已做惯了“选择性”的题目,遇到“主观”笔答题往往心理无底,得不到高分。事实证明,选择题偏多给阅读教学带来了诸多的弊端,不利于培养、发展学生阅读能力。“阅读是语言学习的重要方法和途径。在阅读教学中,老师给学生的阅读材料的内容应该尽量广泛,能够让学生感兴趣,而不应该局限于带选择题的阅读练习材料”(程晓堂,2006)。我们在测试卷中就应多设置一些与教材中相类似的非选择性阅读理解题。这些非选择性阅读理解题在很大程度上克服了多项选择题的不足,是对传统选择性阅读理解的补充和完善,这样可以很好地培养、发展学生的英语阅读能力及综合运用英语语言的能力。

无论是传统的选择性阅读理解题,还是我们提倡的非选择性阅读理解题,我们都不能轻视老师在每次测试之后的试卷评讲。评讲的形式通常有三种:对答案,只告诉学生ABC;通篇翻译后做题;巧引导,注重阅读技巧的培养。对这三种形式的调查结果是,只对答案的占8.12%,边翻译边做题的占64.89%,注重引导、培养阅读技巧的只有25.99%。面对这样的局面,我们必须引起足够的重视,认真探索、研究试卷评讲,特别是阅读理解题的评讲策略,这样才能使我们学生的阅读能力得以发展,综合运用英语语言的能力得以提高。

三、关于课外阅读

《英语课程标准》规定,初中英语五级的课外阅读量除教材外应累计达到15万词以上,仅靠课本、练习册上的阅读材料难以满足学生发展英语阅读能力的需求,教材不可能完全满足学生的需要(程晓堂,2005)。因此,教师应从实际出发,根据学生的兴趣特长、知识水

平等补充英语读物(朱惠芳,2003)。“拓展阅读体验,有效提升中国学生英语阅读能力实验” 总课题组推荐的外语教学与研究出版社英语系列读物《新标准英语·分级有声读物》、《英语综合读物》、《新标准中小学·分级英语读物》、《外研社·企鹅英语分级有声读物》、《书虫》及《悦读联播》等就是很好的课外读物。除此之外,我们还要积极利用其他课程资源,特别是广播影视节目、录音、录像资料、直观教具和实物、多媒体光盘资料、各种形式的网络资源、报刊杂志等等(教育部,2001),拓展学习和运用英语的渠道,给学生提供贴近学生实际、贴近生活、贴近时代的内容健康和丰富的课程资源,积极鼓励和支持学生主动参与课外资源的开发和利用。

在我们的视导检查中,对学生了访谈和调查,结果令我们震惊:大多数农村学校学生的阅读材料只有课本中的课文和每次考试卷中的阅读题。即便是城区的学生这样的现象也普遍存在。在问卷调查中,对“除了课本中的阅读资源和考试中的阅读之外,您的学生有课外阅读英语的习惯吗?”回答“无”的达89.59%。课标中对五级阅读技能的要求包括:能根据上下文和构词法推断、理解生词的含义;能理解段落中各句子之间的逻辑关系;能找出文章中的主题,理解故事的情节,预测故事情节的发展和可能的结局;能读懂常见体裁的阅读材料;能根据不同的阅读目的运用简单的阅读策略获取信息;能利用字典等工具书进行学习;除教材外,课外阅读量能累计达到15万词以上(教育部,2001)。要达到这些要求,不能只靠课内阅读,作为英语教育工作者,我们应与学生一起加大课外阅读资源的开发、利用,注重学生课外阅读习惯的培养。

实际上,课外阅读资源是十分丰富的,音像、电视、杂志、书刊、网络信息等等,只是,我们没有好好利用、开发罢了。在我们对英语课外阅读资源的调查中,78.52%的老师选择了书籍,8.73%的选择了报刊,而最为丰富的网络资源却只有3.25%。我们知道,这里的书籍实际上多为学生购买的各种各样的“教辅资料”,真正阅读材料不是很多。这里的报刊实际上是一张报纸,老师学生真正关注的还是报纸上的各种练习,而不是文章的阅读。网络的利用在学生中是“差生的天堂”,是班主任绞尽脑汁扼杀的对象。我们为什么不能换个思路,引导学生通过网络沟通,通过网络合作学习,通过网络合作阅读呢?

令人欣慰的是,从今年开始,全县各中学教材都配有与教材同步的“同步阅读训练”,同时总课题组也给我们提供了多样的、适合中学生阅读水平的配套阅读资源,这些无疑给我们的学生提供了可阅读的“课外资源”。课外阅读到底有多大益处,只有经历了才能道出个中的真谛。好多英语专家在总结自己的成功经验时都提到了阅读的重要。桂诗春的“开卷有益”,何其莘的“大量阅读”,简单几个字给我们以启迪;黄源深说,“大量阅读对英语学习

至关重要,没有大量阅读很难学好英语。

阅读能力的培养是一个循序渐进、螺旋上升的过程,这就要求我们英语教师在平时的教学过程中既要重视阅读课的教学,又要加强阅读教学的讨论、研究。由全国基础外语教育研究培训中心负责,北京外国语大学龚雁教授主持的“拓展阅读体验,有效提升中国学生英语阅读能力实验”课题为这方面研究交流提供了一个很好的平台。相信有了这样的一个平台,一定能帮助中国学生尽快成为高效的英语阅读者(龚雁,2008)。我们应改变局限于教材文本语言知识的“精耕细作”,改变阅读理解“选择性”题型一统天下的局面,与学生一起共同开发课外阅读资源,扭转这些不利于发展学生阅读能力的教学现状。

(一)激发学生的阅读兴趣

如何根据学生的年龄特点和英语的学科特点来激发学生的兴趣,是每位英语教师都很关心的问题。认真分析学生的心理需求,明确其兴趣所在,从而巧妙设计难度适宜的阅读辅助题目,结合艺术的讲解,不断满足学生的求知欲,由浅入深,使学生对英语阅读的内容、形式产生兴趣并长期保持。

(二)提高课堂教学效率,打牢阅读基础

在初中英语教材中,课文篇幅很多,阅读量大,话题内容丰富。基于教材的这些特点,我们认为教材其实就是培养学生阅读能力的首选途径。教师在有限的课堂教学时间里,为了做到以点带面,唯一的途径就是精讲。讲的时间少了,练的时间也就多了。精讲首先要分清主次,而不是碰到什么就讲什么。那种面面俱到,随意发挥,甚至希望一下子解决所有问题的作法,结果通常是连基本的问题都没能解决好。

(三)有效利用课内外阅读,掌握阅读技巧

学生阅读技巧的掌握主要是在在课堂上完成的,所以在课堂教学中要有效利用各种阅读材料来培养学生的阅读能力,使学生掌握阅读技巧。坚持每天进行15分钟左右的英语课外阅读,材料长度保持在280-300个单词左右。课外阅读材料应该以消遣性的阅读为主,比如一些故事、童话、幽默笑话等等,鼓励每个学生坚持阅读,体会阅读的乐趣,中考不丢分。

兴趣是最好的老师,是主动学习、积极思考、探索知识的内在动力。青少年所处的年龄阶段,好奇心最强,对感兴趣的事物总是愉快地去探究。因此,在教学中激发学生的兴趣尤为重要。而情景又是激发学生兴趣的动力和源泉。阅读前的导入环节是上好阅读课的前提。常用的策略有背景介绍法、头脑风暴法、现实关联法、新旧联系法、问题设疑法等。把这些方法巧妙结合交互式电子白板,灵活的展示、编辑多媒体材料、连接音频、视频,创设情境画面,以情激趣,全方位、多角度地激发学生的好奇心与求知欲,使他们产生学习的动机。可以激发学生的求知欲和学习兴趣,让学生产生积极情绪。如在读Sea Stories一文前先播放大海中出现巨大漩涡的情景,使学生深切地感受到漩涡的可怕,在吸引了学生的注意力后设疑:“How horrible the whirlpool is!If we meet the situation on the ship,what can we do?此文讲诉了一个在大海中遭遇巨大漩涡的故事。”总之,读前活动的整体目标是激发兴趣、引起思考、作好准备,主要是希望解决学生“想读”“爱读”的问题。教师的读前准备做得充分,学生才能学得轻松愉快。反之,开头开得不好,整个阅读课的效果就会打折扣。因此,读前活动不能忽视。具体的活动方法还有很多,远不止上面几个,可以根据阅读内容灵活选择,且要注意经常变化。

(二)、读中(While-reading)——突出重点,层层深入

阅读过程是阅读课的核心,也是学生阅读能力提高的关键。阅读过程是学生逐步熟悉、掌握、运用策略和技巧的过程,是学生在新的语境中复现和实际运用学习过的词语、句式结构等语言知识的过程,也是他们进一步丰富拓展语言知识的过程。英语阅读教学离不开泛读与精读的训练。泛读是快速阅读全文,理清文章脉络,了解课文大意,建立初步的全文整体印象:精读是在学生了解文章整体大意后,让学生再读课文,学会处理信息,找出有效信息,把阅读重点转入对文章 局部的深入理解和分析。在泛读与精读过程中,学生如何获取不同层面的阅读信息,这是提高学生阅读技能的关键。基于互交式电子白板英语课堂教学环境下的教学模式,是师生互动的课堂,教师运用现代教育技术手段,通过对背景知识和相关问题的提问和讨论,让学生在视、听、思中丰富感性知识,产生再造想象,入境动情,形象地感知,理智地思索。因此,使用交互式电子白板可以与学生充分互动,为英语阅读教学过程中的师生、生生互动提供极大的便利。在泛读中,教师可以将需要学生回答的问题展示在白板上,同时也可用探照灯功能将问题的重点突出出来,让学生快速有效在阅读材料中找到关键词或主题句,从而解决问题。

在精读过程中,教师可以适时地使用遮罩功能来集中学生的注意力;使用文字拉幕、页面快照等功能来突出阅读中的重点;利用前置、后置、对象移动、翻转等功能来诠释阅读材料中重难点词组与句型,并在教学中随时超链接各种多媒体材料,演示迅速便捷,手段多样,效果直观、形象、生动,从视觉到信息量上无不对学生造成巨大的冲击与震撼。

如此这样,在阅读中易难有序、规范训练,这样就可以增加学生的信心,加大学生对课堂内容的关注度,学生不仅可以深刻地理解阅读材料,更可以良好地掌握其中的英语语言点,从而提高阅读课堂质量。

(三)、读后(Post-reading)——课外延伸,发散思维

阅读活动完成之后,教师需要对学生的阅读理解情况进行检查,根据反馈解决疑难问题,开展巩固性和拓展性活动。做好巩固环节可以加深学生对课文的理解,使学生有机会练习刚学的知识。一些教师认为,上完了规定的教学内容就算完成了教学任务,其实不然。知识从理解到掌握需要一个过程,充分的读后活动可以帮助学生巩固阅读成果、拓展知识运用、培养提高技能。阅读教学中,教师不仅要教给学生知识,还要想方设法引导学生进行学法的迁移,通过发散学生思维,培养他们的创新能力。利用多媒体技术可以使学生大大增加听和看的机会;用文字、图像、声音的巧妙结合,可以大大增加课堂信息量,实现课内外的沟通,全面提高课堂教学效率,提高学生的整体素质。在课堂中的教学时间是有限的,为使课堂教学受到更好的效果,让学生的认识得到延伸,升华,读后延伸是必不可少的,在读后自由地和学生进行各种交流互动,组织学生开展多种学习活动,它能让学生发挥创新思维,把英语阅读课堂上没有尽兴的“节目”延伸到课外完成。学生进一步加深了对阅读材料的理解,让学生在说话时身处能让其动情的情境,让他们亲身体验情感产生、发展的过程,这样,才能激发学生的情感,达到情感教学目标。初中英语阅读教学课题研究实验总结

初三英语组

经过课题组全体成员的共同努力,在新《课标》的指导下,初中阅读课教学的基本模式已经形成,充分利用了电子白板并在实践中取得了比较好的效果。扩充了同学们的阅读量,增强了同学们阅读的兴趣。

一、主要工作

1、认真做好了实验的开题工作。在2014年开学初,学习了切实可行的计划,使实验教师明确了实验目标、实验步骤、实验办法等。

2、认真做好实验调查研究工作.实验前,我们对全体学生的阅读现状进行了调查,摸清楚了他们的英语阅读能力与习惯,为进行英语课题阅读教学策略实验研究做了很好的铺垫。

3、认真做好对实验教师的培训工作。指导实验教师学习相关理论,用新课程理论来理解实验的立项和研究工作,尤其在第二学期认真学习的交互式电子白板的使用,为课题的实施做好必要的理论和实践上的准备。

4、实验教师按课题方案撰写实施计划。组织实验教师根据总课题方案并根据自己的教学实际进行实验研究,使实验教师选准了实验的突破口,也保证了课题研究的深度和广度。

5、强化实验过程,保证实验的落实。坚持以常规教学为载体,以课堂行为为保证的实验方法;坚持实验教师的个体研究为主,课题小组等集体研究为辅的实验方法。

6、加强实验的指导。主持人加强了自身的理论学习,提高自身素质,多深入课堂,多做细致的分析,多和教师、学生面谈,理解实验的真实情况,有针对性的指导,发现有效的做法及时组织教师交流借鉴,出现偏差及时纠正,做到了重过程、重指导、勤总结、勤改进、保证实验的顺利进行。

7、加强资料积累。对反应课题研究的过程性材料加强了积累,课题组做到了要求明确,督促实验教师勤于动笔,各个层次的活动记录,实验教师的学习笔记,案例分析,课堂实验记录,阶段计划总结、实验论文等文字或音像资料及时整体,期末存档.

8、注重总结分析,及时改进工作。及时做好课题实验总结及使用新教材体会。二.实验成果

1.多渠道培养学生学习英语的浓厚兴趣

教师通过英语故事、趣味英语及英语专题讲座、学生身边发生的真实故事、使用多媒体(电子白板)等多渠道激发学生对英语的兴趣,通过办英语手抄报、黑板报扩大学生知识面,开阔视野;通过了解文章故事情节,加强学生思想道德方面的教育,提高英语课题的境界,也达到了提高学生思想素质的育人目的。2.同学们形成了不同的良好的阅读习惯

好的阅读习惯形成了,口语和笔头(书面)表达能力同时得到了加强,并在语言的实际运用中潜移默化地形成了语感。

略读知意――限时泛读――重点精读――创设运用

3.在我校的课题研究过程中,加之学校教务处、校领导给予了大力的关心、支持和帮助。课题组成员能不计较个人得失,一切为了英语教育事业,充分发挥了团队的作用。在课题研究中还充分发扬和体现了创新精神,在课堂设计和任务设置上敢于创新,敢于尝试,最终形成了自己的特色。

4.通过课题研究,教师自身得到了锻炼和成长。更深刻的学习理解了《新课程标准》,体验了现代化教学手段在教学过程中的优势。领导点滴的肯定坚定了我们深化课题研究、提高教育教学质量的信心和决心。同时我们也体会到了做一名教育工作者,而不是一名教书匠的意义和乐趣,感受到了集体的力量。

(一)通过探索形成系统、科学、有效的阅读任务设置模式。

(二)阅读任务的层次性和梯度。

(三)在阅读中,获取大量信息,陶冶情操,提高综合素质。
