人兑现了自己许的诺言，第二天早晨，老鼠醒来后果真变成猫了．

“现在你不必再怕猫了，你也是猫了。”那个人说。

老鼠变成的猫很高兴，他又到屋外去，刚准备晒晒太阳，突然看见了一只猫。可怜的小家伙，马上忘记自己不是老猫，而是老鼠了，所以赶快逃回家里。

“你怎么啦?”人问道，“你又伯谁了?”

猫羞于承认他还是怕别的猫，所以说了谎，“我在森林里碰到了一条狗，他追我，我差一点被他吃掉。”

人又说： “你躺下睡吧，明天早晨你醒来时，把你变成狗吧！这样你就不用怕别的狗了。”

事情就这么发生了：第二天早晨猫醒来时变成了一条大狗，一边叫着，一边跑到森林里去了。在附近一棵树旁，他又碰到了猫，猫也看到了狗，猫想狗马上要来捉他，所以准备自卫，他叫着，抬起脚爪，呼哧呼哧响。狗听到猫叫声，吓得没命，逃进了家里。

“这一次你见了谁这么怕？”人看到了小家伙；又说。

狗羞于承认怕猫，所以说了慌： “我的主人啊，在离我家不远的地方，我碰到了一只老虎，我到现在还不明白，我是如何逃出他的可怕的牙齿的！”

“好吧，那么我要使你以后什么也不怕，你躺下睡吧！明天一觉醒来，你就会变成老虎了。”

真的如此。第二天早晨狗醒来时，心里想： “我现在是兽中之王了，不必再住在这可怜的小屋子里了……我要到森林里去，让所有的野兽在我的力量和勇气面前发抖！”

老虎这么想了后就一本正经地走进了森林深处。突然，他看见猫，猫也看见了老虎，猫吓得身上的毛根根直立，弓起背，眼睛放着光，他想： “现在我完了！逃不出老虎口了!”

但这只老虎，胸膛里跳动的是胆小的老鼠心，所以，一看见猫的放光眼睛，马上没命地逃到人的屋里去。他逃进屋里，缩在角落里，躺着，吓得牙齿“格格”的打起架来了。

人很奇怪地问： “你为什么又抖了？难道森林里有比老虎还要厉害的动物?”

“有……”老虎轻轻地说，声音几乎低得听不见了。

“是什么?”人惊奇地问。

“是……是……是猫！”

达时人什么都明白了，说： “如果老虎的心是老鼠的，那么，老虎比猫还要弱，让所有长了老鼠心的老鼠，永远成为老鼠吧！”他说完后，又把老虎变成了可怜的小老鼠。-

There was once a farmer who had a fine olive（橄榄树）orchard（果园）.He was very hardworking, and the farm always prospered under his care.But he knew that his three sons despised（轻视，看不起）the farm work, and were eager to make wealth, trough adventure.从前有一个农民，他有一座漂亮的橄榄园。他非常勤劳，而且农场在他的照管下蒸蒸日上。可他知道自己的三个儿子瞧不起农活，都迫不及待的想通过冒险发家致富。
