As you lie down in your bed，close your eyes and relax.Take a deep breath and hold it for a count of 3（1，2，3），then slowly exhale.Your body is in a comfortable position and you eyes are closed.Take another deep breath，even deeper than before，and hold the air for a count of 5（1，2，3，4，5）.Again，slowly let your breath out.Notice how relaxed and loose your body feels.Now inhale again ,from the center of your body，and hold your breath for a count of 8（1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8）.Picture yourself standing in an observation elevator.Through the glasses you can see the doors to all the building and the children playing on the ground between the buildings and the elevator.Slowly, you begin to sense the elevator is moving，it’s going up.As it goes up, you begin to notice the windows and the people behind the windows.The buildings are tall，and it takes a little while to get to the top.Just as the elevator reaches over the buildings，a beautiful lake emerges in your sight, the water is clear and peaceful，ducks are playing on the lake and ripples are spreading.Beyond the lake is a grass covered mountain slope with sheep easily enjoying their meals.The elevator keeps going up，when it reaches over the top of the mountain，a beautiful harbor appears on the horizon.In the harbor sailboats are easily
cruising on the blue and peaceful water.Around the harbor，large areas of trees and flowers and magnificent houses spread themselves regularly along the coast.You are struck by the beauty of the environment and harmony between nature and design.You begin to imagine yourself living in that harbor，having all the thing you ever desire，enjoying all the friendships you ever dream，and achieving all the accomplishment you ever aspire.You know all these beautiful things will be your to keep，to cherish and enjoy，because you have found a clear purpose for your life，you have developed a sound strategy，and you have taken all the actions necessary：You got up as promised everyday；you listened to the recordings and practiced as planed.you thought often and critically；you always wrote down your thoughts the inspirations；you pushed yourself beyond your comfort zone when it comes to making new friends and seizing every learning opportunity.Now，with 100% certainty you are moving in the right direction and at the right pace，you can be at ease going into sleep.Let your eyes relax，then your head，your neck，your shoulder，your chest，your waist，your thighs，your knees，your feet，your toes and your whole body.Go，slowly，go sleep！Have a sweet dream！

Thus, be optimistic, ladies and gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, ―An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity;a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.‖
Ladies and Gentlemen, keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success.Historically as well as currently, there are too many optimists of this kind to enumerate.You see, Thomas Edison is optimistic;if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminate the whole world.Alfred Nobel is optimistic;if not, the explosives and the prestigious Nobel Prize would not have come into being.And Lance Armstrong is also optimistic;if not, the devil of cancer would have devoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the Tour De France.A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not;that depends on your attitude only, and so does success, so does life.Hindrances and difficulties do exist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your long way to the throne of success;they are more bridges than obstacles!Now I prefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: ―If winter comes, can spring be far behind?‖ Thank you!

It is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful Saturday morning to share with you my sentiments about life and passion for the English language.About a year and a half ago, I took part in my very first English Speech Contest.When I stood before the microphone with all eyes starring directly at me, I could hardly speak.I stood there, embarrassed and helpless, struggling in vain for the right thing to say.My fears had paralyzed me.While my passion for English has never changed, I lost my courage to speak in public.When my professor again encouraged me to take part in this Competition, I said ―no.‖ I couldn’t endure yet another painful experience.He looked me straight in the eye and said something that pierced my heart.I will never forget his words.―Look,‖ he said, ―We all have our fears, and you have yours.You could twist your ankle in a basketball game, but then be afraid to ever play again.Running away can never dispel your fears, but action will.A winner is not one who never fails，but one who never quits.‖
I spent a whole day with his words twisting and turning in my mind.Then I made the bravest and wisest decision of my life: I would face my fears – and take part in the competition!
As it turned out, my dear old professor was right.Now, here I am, once again standing before a microphone.My heart is beating fast, and my mouth is dry, but most importantly, I have faced my fears--and that makes all the difference!

尊敬的评委，各位来宾，女士们先生们，我很荣幸在这个美妙的星期六早上来到这里，与你们分享我生命中一段特别的经历。
大概一年半以前，我参加了生平第一次演讲比赛。站在麦克风前，面对观众们期待的眼神，我竟紧张的说不出话来。那一刻，我是多么无助啊！
我对于英语的挚爱从未改变，但却从此失去了面对公众演讲的勇气。当老教授鼓励我参加希望英语风采大赛时，我拒绝了。他直视我的眼睛，说了一番令我终身难忘的话。―你瞧，‖他说，―我们都有自己的恐惧。你可能会在一场篮球比赛中扭脚，并从此害怕再打球。你只能用行动去克服自己的恐惧，逃避是没有用的。生活中的成功者往往是永不放弃的人。‖
我花了一整天时间思考他的话。然后，我做出了一个勇敢而明智的决定： 我要参加中央电视台第五届―希望之星‖英语风采大赛！
老教授是对的。我发挥出了自己的水平，一路杀进了全国总决赛。此时此刻，当我再一次站在了麦克风前，仍然心跳不止，但更重要的是，我终于能够勇敢地面对我的恐惧了，而这已足够了。
学生英文演讲稿Discover Yourself i never think speaking in front of other people on the stage is possible for me, a shy girl, when i was ten.so when my teacher asked me to host a party of school, i refused immediately, with saying “you must be kidding.”
the opportunity went to another girl from another class, who actually has nothing better than me.after the program, my teacher said to me, “i still believe that if you had been the hostess, it would be a lot better.your voice is really beautiful, what you are short of is confidence.”
i was abandoned into thinking hearing the words, wanted to find something against her opinion.unfortunately, she was right.i was always refusing chances like that, even never try once, but confidently saying i can’t.in another word, i was unconfident.you can.my teacher said to me.i can? i asked, wondering, but really made a dear decision to have a try.then, things went easy;i tried to announce some notice in front of the class, smile to everyone appeared in my life, and took part in my first english speech contest.little by little, i changed my mind, when my teacher asked me to try to be the hostess, i replied “sure”!indeed confidently with a big smile.i’m no longer that shy little girl.i changed and discovered my own talent.to make something special, you just have to believe it special.kongfu panda’s ducking father told him in the film, which is also suitable for us.to discover your own talent, you must believe that you can do it.everyone is like an undiscovered jade, you hide yourself with an ugly appearance, no one, not even yourself, know how beautiful you are inside the stone, you just have to believe and discover yourself, after that, you will be considered as the most beautiful jewel in the world.discover yourself needs confidence, and confidence is the way leads to your dream and success.as your dream is right in front of you, why not discover yourself to realize it!we have no excuse to give our dream up!
discover yourself, follow your own step, nothing is impossible.even a little girl with no experience can hold a program successfully, what about you?

good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.good afternoon, boys and girls.good afternoon, everybody.i ’m glad to make a speech here.as we all know, tomorrow is teachers’ day.many people say that teachers are not unusual at all.that’s true.but i want to say though teachers are common, their job is unusual.what they do is very very great.i am an english teacher.so i’ll make an english speech here.and my topic is “live with thankfulness”.do you know what “thankfulness” means in chinese? it means “gan’en”.we know that in the world, we are not living alone.from the day we were born, there have been many people around us.they take care of us.they help us.they teach us.they play with us and grow up together with us.they support us.they understand us.the most important is: they love us.who are they? can you give me your answer?
yes, they are our parents, grandparents or family members;they may be your classmates, your friends even your neighbors.they are all important to us.we can’t live without them.we should thank them.we should thank the great world.because it gives us sunlight, air, water and everything we need to keep us alive healthily.we can’t live without them.we should thank our parents.they are the people who gave us the life.they look after us carefully and give all their love to us.i believe if necessary, they are willing to give everything to us.they stay with us, all the time.we should thank our teachers.it is they who teach us knowledge unselfishly.they let us know how to write, how to read, how to get on with others and so on.they are our guide in our life.we should thank our friends, our classmates.they are our partners.they understand us.they encourage us.they play with us.they grow up together with us.they make our life more colorful.my dear boys and girls, teachers’ day is coming.it’s a celebrating time.it’s also a thankful time.let’s take actions together.show our thanks to the world, learn to protect it.show our thanks to our parents, learn to look after them.show our thanks to our teachers, learn how to respect them.show our thanks to our classmates, learn to help and share with them.boys and girls, are you ready? live with thankfulness, from now on.let’s go!
