圣诞节的由来

“圣诞节”这个名称是“基督弥撒”的缩写。弥撒是教会的一种礼拜仪式。圣诞节是一个宗教节日，我们把它当作耶稣的诞辰来庆祝，因而名为圣诞节。这一天，世界所有的基督教会都举行特别的礼拜仪式。但是有很多圣诞节的欢庆活动和宗教并无关联。交换礼物，寄圣诞卡，这都使圣诞节成为一个普天同庆的日子。

圣诞节是基督教世界最大的节日。4世纪初，1月6日是罗马帝国东部各教会纪念那稣降生和受洗的双重节日、称为“主显节”Epiphany，亦称“显现节”即上帝通过那稣向世人显示自己。当时只有耶路撒冷的教会例外，那里只纪念耶稣的诞生而不纪念那稣的受洗。后来历史学家们在罗马基督徒习用的日历中发现公元354年12月25日页内记录着：“基督降生在犹大的伯利恒。”经过研究，一般认为12月25日伴为圣诞节可能开始于公元336年的罗马教会）约在公元375年传到小亚细亚的安提约基雅，公元430年传到埃及的亚历山大，耶路撒冷的教会接受得最晚，而亚美尼亚的教会则仍然坚持1月6日主显节是耶稣的诞辰。

12月25日原来是波斯太阳神（即光明之神）密特拉（Mithra）的诞辰，是一个异教徒节日，同时太阳神也是罗马国教众神之一。这一天又是罗马历书的冬至节，崇拜太阳神的异教徒都把这一天当作春天的希望，万物复苏的开始。可能由于这个原因，罗马教会才选择这一天作为圣诞节。这是教会初期力图把异教徒的风俗习惯基督教化的措施之一。后来，虽然大多数教会都接受12月25日为圣诞节，但又固各地教会使用的历书不同，具体日期不能统一，于是就把12月24日到第二年的1月6日定为圣诞节节期（Christmastide），各地教会可以根据当地具体情况在这段节期之内庆祝圣诞节。自从12月25日被大多数教会公认为圣诞节后，原来1月6日的主显节就只纪念耶稣受洗了，但天主教会又把1月6日定为“三王来朝节”，以纪念耶稣生时东方三王（即三位博士）来朝拜的故事。随着基督教的广泛传播，圣诞节已成为基督徒，甚至广大非基督徒群众的一个重要节日。在欧美许多国家里，人们非常重视这个节日，把它和新年连在一起，而庆祝活动之热闹与隆重大大超过了新年，成为一个全民的节日。

耶稣的出生是奇特的，耶苏是因着圣神成孕，由童女马利亚所生的。神更派遣使者加比厄尔在梦中晓谕若瑟，叫他不要因为玛利亚未婚怀孕而离弃她，反而要与她成亲，给那孩子起名为“耶稣”，意思是要他把百姓从罪恶中救出来。

当玛利亚快要生产的时候，罗马政府正下命令，全国人民务必到本乡申报户籍。若瑟和玛利亚只好遵命到伯利恒报名登记。他们到达伯利恒时，天色已昏，无奈两人未能找到旅馆寄宿，只有一个马棚可以暂住。就在这时，耶苏要出生了！於是玛利亚唯有在马槽上生下耶稣。后人为纪念耶稣的诞生，便定十二月二十五为圣诞节，年年望弥撒，纪念耶稣的出世。

圣诞节便於十二月二十五日纪念耶苏的诞生，但真实的诞生日就没有人知道了。十九世纪，圣诞卡的流行、圣诞老人的出现，圣诞节也开始流行起来了。

圣诞夜：根据耶稣诞生在夜里这种说法。圣诞节的庆祝活动也从12月24日夜间开始，半夜时分达到最高潮。这一夜就被称为圣诞夜。

圣诞树：

据称，圣诞树最早出现在古罗马12月中旬的农神节，德国传教士尼古斯在公元8世纪用棕树供奉圣婴。随后，德国人把12月24日作为亚当和夏娃的节日，在家放上象征伊甸园的“乐园树”，上挂代表圣饼的小甜饼，象征赎罪；还点上蜡烛，象征基督。

到16世纪，宗教改革者马丁·路德，为求得一个满天星斗的圣诞之夜，设计出在家中布置一颗装着蜡烛的圣诞树。不过，西方关于圣诞树的来历流行着另一种说法：有个善良的农民，在圣诞节那天，热情地招待了一名流浪的孩子，临别时，孩子折下一树枝插在地上。树枝立即长成大树，孩子指着这树对农民说，每年今日，树上都长满礼物，以报答你们的盛情。所以，今天人们所见的圣诞树上总是挂满了小礼物。

圣诞大餐：

圣诞节作为一个隆重庆祝节日，不能少了好吃的美味食品。圣诞节火鸡大餐就是例牌主菜了，以前的人们或许会用微波炉自己做，现在的人们过节好多就是在外面餐馆里用餐了，商家们也会利用机会赚顾客们的钱，当然还有许多圣诞节食品，姜饼、糖果等等了。

圣诞PARTY：

圣诞节必不可少的节目，有家庭式的，朋友式的，情人式的各种歌样PARTY。一种友情，亲情，爱情聚会的好时光。戴着圣诞帽，唱着圣诞歌，说说大家的圣诞愿望。

圣诞帽：

那是一顶红色帽子，据说晚上戴上睡觉除了睡得安稳和有点暖外，第二天你还会发现在帽子里多了点心爱的人送的礼物。在狂欢夜它更是全场的主角，无论你去到那个角落，都会看到各式各样的红帽子，有的还有帽尖发亮的，有的是金光闪闪的。

圣诞袜：

最早以前是一对红色的大袜子，多大都可以，因为圣诞袜是要用来装礼物的，小朋友最喜欢的东西，晚上他们会将自己的袜子挂在床边，等待第二天早上的收礼。要是有人圣诞节送小汽车那怎么办？那最好就叫他写张支票放进袜子里好了。

圣诞卡：

是祝贺圣诞及新年的贺卡，上面印着关于耶稣降生故事的图画，以及“庆祝圣诞、新年快乐”之类的祝愿的话。

报佳音：

圣诞夜指12月24日晚至25日晨。教会组织一些圣诗班（或由信徒自发地组成）挨门挨户地在门口或窗下唱圣诞颂歌，叫作“报佳音”，意思是再现当年天使向伯利恒郊外的牧羊人报告耶稣降生的喜讯。

报佳音的人称为Christmas Waits，这项活动往往要进行到天亮，人数越来越多，歌声越来越大，大街小巷满城尽是歌声。

颂歌：

圣诞节时唱的赞美诗称为“圣诞颂歌”。圣诞颂歌很多，曲谱多取自著名音乐家的名作。经常唱的有《普世欢腾，救主下降》、（Joy to the world！）、《天使歌唱在高天》（Angels We Have Hear don High）、《缅想当年时方夜半》（It Comet be Midnight Clear）、《美哉小城，小伯利恒》（Little Town of Bethlehem）、《牧人闻信》（While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks）、《远远在马槽里》（Awaited Manger）、《荣耀天军》（Angels from the Realms of Glory）、《听啊，天使唱高声》（Hark the Herald Angels Sing）、《圣诞钟声》（I heard the bell son Christmas Day）、等等其中以《平安夜》（SilentNight）最为有名。据说，1818年在奥地利一个名叫奥本多夫的小镇上住着一个默默无闻的乡村牧师伊摩尔。这年圣诞节，伊摩尔发现教堂里管风琴的管于被老鼠咬坏了，修理已经来不及了。怎么庆祝圣诞呢？摩尔为此闷闷不乐。他忽然想起《路加福音》里记载着，耶稣降生时，天使向伯利恒郊外的牧羊人报佳音后，高唱颂歌：“在至高之处荣耀归于上帝，在地上平安归于他所喜悦的人。”他灵机一动，根据这两句经文写成一首赞美诗，取名《平安夜》。

摩尔写好歌词后拿给本镇小学教师葛路伯看，请他谱曲。葛路伯读完歌词很受感动，谱好曲，第二天在教堂里演唱，大受欢迎。后来有两个商人路过这里，学会了这首歌，他们为普鲁士国王威廉四世演唱，威廉四世听后大力赞赏，下令把《平安夜》定为全国教堂过圣诞节时必唱的歌曲之一。

此外，有条件的教堂每年圣诞节时还会演唱德国著名音乐家韩德尔的《弥赛亚》（又名《救世主》）等音乐作品，通过这些音乐崇拜活动来加强节日的喜庆气氛。

圣诞老人：

圣诞老人原指公元4世纪时小亚细亚专区的主教尼古拉，他因和蔼可亲慷慨济贫万里闻名。到了6世纪，东方把他尊称为圣尼古拉。由于民间有关尼古拉的传说中，都联系到少年儿童和礼物，从此，圣诞老人便成为专门在圣诞节向孩子们送礼物的慈祥老人的形象。到了18世纪，通过文学和绘画，圣诞老人逐渐成为身穿红外衣的白胡子、白眉毛老人形象。

圣诞礼物：

据《圣经》记载，来自东方的圣人在耶稣降生的时候赠送礼物，这就是圣诞老人为儿童赠送礼品习俗的由来。英国少年儿童在圣诞前夕把长统袜子放在壁炉旁，相信圣诞老人在夜里会从大烟囱下来，给他们带来满袜子的礼物。法国的少年儿童把鞋放在门口，让“圣婴来时把礼物放在鞋里面。”

圣经并没提到圣诞节, 初期的教会也没有庆祝圣诞节。圣诞节乃是于主后312年兴起的罗马天主教所发明的。其实圣诞节与古罗马的农神节(Saturnalia)和冬至(winter solstice)有关。根据泰勒(James Taylor), 在主后274年(注: 当时罗马天主教未开始, 基督信仰受到罗马帝王们的压迫), 12月25日被开始定为在冬至开始增强光芒的太阳神之生日。大约在主后336年之前, 由于罗马天主教无法除去这异教的节日, 所以便将此日立为那“公义的日头”---基督(玛4:2)的生日, 好使异教徒更易接受基督的信仰。到了主后336年时, 西方的教会已普遍在12月25日庆祝圣诞节。

此外, 12月25日的圣诞节与其他许多其他非基督教的宗教有关。在古希腊中, 他们在此日庆祝巴比伦天后(Babylonian queen of heaven)之子的出生。在埃及, 伊希斯(Isis)之子也在大约冬至时(接近12月25日)出生。古阿拉伯人则在12月24日庆祝月亮之主(Lord Moon)的出生。由于12月底乃是欢庆许多异教神明的大日, 所以罗马天主教受其影响, 选择了12月底作为圣诞节。

此外, 在英格兰的圣诞节晚餐所摆设的公猪或野猪头(boar’s head), 也是源自罗马教;而圣诞鹅肉(Christmas goose)和圣诞节蛋糕(Yule cakes)也本是敬拜巴比伦弥赛亚的主要物品.罗马和埃及也有这种敬拜物品。鹅肉是埃及神明“俄西利斯”(Osiris)和“瑟伯”(Seb)所爱的祭物, 并且这鹅肉只可在冬季正中时(depth of winter)吃。

一大早,便接到朋友祝福的短信,原来今天是感恩节,心中顿时生出一缕暖意。在国外时,那里的节日很多，让我心有触动的是母亲节、情人节、圣诞节,特温热的是感恩节。

感恩节是个拥抱心灵的节日,让人心中暖融融的日子.这一天,如果你用温暖和善意重新打量周围和世间,也许,加了热度的身心,会融化一些窗外的寒冷和淡漠。
