考试内容
英语口试一般由考生用英语介绍本人基本情况开始,之后则考查一下专业外语,口头翻译单词、词组、一句话、一段或一篇专业外语文章,或限时读一篇文章,然后用英语复述,或就内容回答问题,或讨论,或发表个人看法,由此了解考生对本专业研究现状的掌握情况,现从事的工作及取得的成果,读研后准备研究的课题及个人打算等等。还可能事先拟定几个题目、情景让考生抽签,考生根据题目或情景用英语进行对话、讨论或角色扮演。因此复试要求考生不仅能用英语简单介绍自己,还能用英语就许多专业领域的问题作答,特别是调剂生和跨专业学生,要对有关专业问题有充分的思想准备。因此考生有必要事先尽可能了解复试的方式、方法、内容范围,做到心中有数。
虽然各个院校的研究生入学考试英语口语复试的内容不尽相同,但都采用面对面形式,即每个考场一般由两至三名考官和一名考生或两至三名考官和两名考生组成。多数情况下,两名考官中一位是主考(interlocutor),负责向考生(candidate)提问、谈话,掌控整个口试过程。另一名考官为评判员(assessor),不提问,不插话,只注意监听。在有些情况下,评判员也可能参加提问和谈话。不过,在口试正式开始时,考官会向考生明确这一点。比如主考官会对考生说:Good morning.My name is XXX, and this is my colleague, XXX.She’ll be listening to us.或:Good morning.My name is XXX, and this is my colleague, XXX.First of all, we’re going to ask you some questions about……在整个口试过程中,考生不得以中文回答问题或参与讨论。
应试技巧
各个院校的研究生入学英语口试基本上都从发音的正确性、使用语言的准确性、流利程度以及得体性几个方面全面测试考生的表达能力。

第一,认真听考官的提问,注意提问的句型:
一般疑问句(例如:Do you speak English outside the classroom?),特殊疑问句(例
如:What are you going to take in graduate school?),选择疑问句(例如:Do you want to work in government or in business?),祈使句,反义疑问句(例如:It’s going to be a hard test, isn’t it?)。针对不同的句型作出相应的回答。
第二,如果没有听懂或听清,千万不要慌张,可请考官再说一遍,可选择如下句型:
I am sorry, would you please say it again? I am sorry I didn’t follow you, I beg your pardon? Could you put it in another way? 这种情况是不会扣分的。但是切忌答非所问不懂装懂,这会令考官十分反感。
第三,回答热身过程中的提问一定要简洁,三至五句为宜
回答要精练准确切忌过于缓慢拖沓,以免有消耗时间嫌疑。同时也不要只顾自己夸夸其谈而忽略了考官的反应和表情,要注意这是一个交流和双方互动的环节,也要避免跑题。回答时也不宜过于简单,如果对方体的是一般疑问句型,不能只回答yes或no,可以适当向考官提一两个问题。当对方闻到你的“优点”“缺点”或“计划时”,不要只回答一两个单独的词汇,而应该就此再继续展开自己的衍生看法。例如当考官问道:What is your greatest strength?(你最突出的优点是什
么?),这是一个常见问题,要抓住这个机会展现自己,也不要吹嘘自己或过于自负,但要让考官知道你的自信和优势。比如可以回答:“我认为我最大的优点是能够执着地尽力把事情办好。当做完一件工作而其成果又正合我的预想时,我会有一种真正的成就感。我给自己定了一些高目标。比如说,我要成为出色的本科毕业生。尽管在大学一年级时我启动慢了些,但最终我将会以优等论文完成学业。” I feel that my strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done.I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I’d planned.I’ve set some high goals for myself.For example, I want to

psychological price on individuals, generating feelings of humiliation, pernicious anger, resentment and the like that, if unexpressed, contaminate every interaction, shut down creativity and undermine productivity.(过于内向可能使个人付出高昂的心理代价,心生屈辱、愤怒、怨恨,如此等等,如果宣泄,则影响交往、抑制创造、危害工作)。本句用generating分词作结果状语让表达变得完整。考试应该把平时学到的经典语法用一部分在口语面试中,但不宜过多,选择自己最擅长的。
第四,注意语音和语调的自然,不要给人留下背书的印象。
同学们可以事先准备一个模板来进行自我介绍环节的准备,在背诵熟练之后一定要多进行模拟语境下的练习,这样才会真实自然,在面试过程中如果某一个细节一时想不起来,不要停下回忆,而应该迅速跳过进入下一句,保证陈述的通顺连贯,例如:

避免生僻的词汇和过于复杂的句型,以减少错误,提高准确度。这在专业英语对话中尤为重要,目前考查学生英语能力与专色素养相结合已成为面试的重要环节,也是考生要正确的高分的亮点,专业英语尤其严谨性和规范性,所以在语言精炼的同时还要主要适当表达出规范的语法,大家在准备的时候不要逐字背诵,在面试过程中也不要一个词一个词去想,最好是先构思出句子的最核心主干,再根据现场发挥利用从句、插入语等技能添加内容。例如:In 2012, an influential paper in the journal Behavioral and Brain Functions found that while most of us process emotions through the right hemisphere of the brain, about 35% of people — especially victims of trauma — process their hurt and anger through their left brain, where logic and language sit.(在2012年,一篇发表在《行为与大脑功能》期刊上的很有影响力的论文指出:我们大多数人通过右半脑来处理情感;但是还有35%的人,尤其是脑部创伤的患者,是通过左半脑来处理伤痛和愤怒情绪的,而左半脑正是逻辑和语言功能所处的位置。)本句最核心的主干是paper found that……,主干有了以后再加上修饰和内容补充,用介词短语作定语in the journal Behavioral and Brain Functions说明论文的来源,用that引导宾语从句指出论文的研究结果,在宾语从句中还可以用while most of us process emotions through the right hemisphere of the brain, about 35% of people……这个让步转折句型表达两种研究对象的差异,最后还可以用especially victims of trauma这样一个插入语进一步描述某个对象的细节特征。再看下面这个例句:Little difference in the density of matter that had been present since the beginning of the universe gradually grew larger as a result of gravitational attraction.(宇宙形成之初,物质之间在密度上几乎是没有差别的,随着地球引力的作用,物质密度的差别越来越大)。这一句难度较大,但确是许多科技英语的表达典范,difference grew larger是这一句的主干,然后用Little修饰difference,用介词短语in the density of matter修饰difference,表示“某方面的区别”,定语从句that had been present since the beginning of the universe修饰the density of matter,再用短语as a result of表达事情的因果关系,这样就是一个规范严谨的高水平表达,这种训练也可以用在笔头翻译测试中。
第六,回答完一个问题后,如果考官不急于问下一个而是微笑的看着你,这意味着考官期待你做更多的解释或表述。
这在专业英语问答中尤其重要,有一位法律考试在被问到计算机犯罪问题的时候,他如果简单
回答“严重”或“不严重”就缺乏含金量,最好大家要在负面问题的回答中提出自己的解决方案,例如:The potential consequences are perilous, so to curb crime, lawmakers should
consider more forceful deterrents and promote cyber security by increasing funding for law-enforcement personnel and for more training and equipment to investigate and
prosecute cyber criminals.“其潜在后果是危险的,所以为了抑制电脑犯罪,立法者应该考虑更加强大的威慑力量,通过为执法人员提供更多资金,并且增加资金用于更多培训和购置设备,以调查和起诉电脑犯罪分子,从而提高网络安全。
第七,注意自己的身体语言。
说话时面对考官,面带微笑,眼睛一定要看着对方,可适当用手势强调自己的意思。但身体不要晃动,不要低头和左顾右盼,形态大方得体庄重,音量保持平稳,不要过高或过低。切忌过分紧张和拘束。
第八,衣着干净、简单、大方。也不要过于成熟,尽量表现出青年人的朝气和稳重。

1、见面问候语:Good morning / afternoon, dear professors.I am XXX.(Nice to meet you。)。告别用语:Thanks for your time./ Thank you for giving such a chance.I hope to see you again and soon。
2、自我介绍篇(重点)。基本上每个院校每个专业的口试中都会涉及这一方面。考官其实是要借此了解你的口头表达能力以及你的报名表之外的一些信息。自我介绍时间以2-3分钟为宜。思路要清楚,要突出重点,口语尽量流利。
1)自我介绍的主体内容
① 姓名。介绍自己姓名时,发音一定要准(南方考生要多加注意)。
② 年龄。年龄可以跟在姓名后带过(I am XXX, 25 years old)。
③ 原来的院校、专业。注意:一定要把原来学校的英文名称、专业的英文名称弄清楚(尤其是跨校、跨专业的学生)。

④ 性格、能力,爱好等。可以着重强调你的个性对你报考的专业有何积极的作用。如果报考的是学术性的专业,可以说自己细心(carefully,detail-oriented)、条理分明(logical)、踏实(steady)等;如果是研究性、应用性更强一点的专业,可以说自己负责(responsible)、可靠(dependable)、有效率(efficient)等。
⑤你对报考的专业有兴趣(be interested in/be fascinated with/be obsessed with„),可适当举出一些例子,如经常看相关的书籍、论文、文章、新闻等。在职考生可以强调知识教育对工作的影响: In my work, I find it necessary to broaden my horizons in communication.That’s why I long for entering your prestigious university.结束时可以用说:That’s all about me./ Well, that’s who I am.Thanks for your attention.3、未来规划——学习规划(研究生以后的方向),人生规划(短期、长期)
4、跨专业问题——老师通常会对跨专业的学生问这样一个问题:为什么会选择这个专业?不要千篇一律地回答只说“我对这个专业感兴趣”,可以把每个人都会谈到的原因简要地罗列一下,对具有自己特色的原因则可大谈特谈,详细地阐述自己的观点,让老师印象深刻。
5、专业知识——在英语口试中(非英语专业),如果老师提问专业问题,通常不会指望你能进行流利的、专业性强的阐述;但是一些专业术语的英文说法还是有必要了解一下的。
6、提出问题——在面试快结束的时候,一般老师都会问,你有没有什么要问的(Do you have any questions to ask?)。一般不适合说“I don’t have any question。”可以问考官一两个你关心的问题。
