写作任务:
新学期,你们学校新创办的一份英文校刊需要一批学生小记者。假如你叫王英,想成为校刊的一名小记者。请根据下面的问题合理展开想象,给校刊主管人Mr.Zhang写一封自荐信。
词数:60左右。

写作分析:
这篇习作是一篇应用文,要求写一封自荐信。因此看到这样的写作任务时,要从三点出发:
一、信件格式接下来几期我们还要遇到一系列关于书信的不同形式的写作任务,所以这一期我们先复习一下书信的格式:
◆信头:指发信人的地址和写信日期,写在信纸的右上角。地址的写法与汉语不同,要先写小地点,后写大地点。在地址的下面写日期,日期的顺序是:月、日、年或日、月、年。如:August 19th, XX / 19th August XX。
◆称呼:指对收信人的称呼,写在信头之下,从信纸的左边开始。要注意英文的称呼后面是“逗号”,而不是“冒号”。
◆信的正文:从称呼的下一行由左边第三个或第五个字母开始写。◆结束语:指正文下面的结尾客套话。
◆署名:一般从信纸的中央靠右写起,第一个字母大写,末尾用逗号。写信人的姓名前一般可以加上Yours sincerely等字眼,如果对方是亲密的朋友,可用Yours,Love等。
二、写自荐信要注意的几个方面:
1.简单介绍自己的基本情况;
2.说明写信的目的;
3.表达愿望。
三、内容分析
这次的写作目标单一,介绍自己,表达出你想成为a reporter for the school magazine这一愿望。具体内容是由3个问题涉及到的内容组成,故可以这样安排写作层次:第一部分,介绍你的基本情况如姓名、年龄、班级等;第二部分,为文章的中心段,重点介绍“你的爱好”以及“你最擅长的”,介绍的这些应与“记者”日常工作密切相关,这样才有说服力,然后再说明你成为校刊小记者后的打算;第三部分,说明自己想成为校刊小记者的迫切愿望,希望尽快得到回复等。

这篇习作从整体上看,格式正确,小作者介绍了自己的基本情况,包括姓名、班级、年龄等,然后讲了自己的爱好,并表达了自己想当一名校刊记者的愿望。文笔比较流畅,叙述较为清楚,基本达到了本文的写作要求。不足之处主要有三点:第一,作者讲述的“爱好”中,还缺乏与“记者”这一工作最相关的一项能力,即“笔头功夫”,因此,writing这一项是必不可少的。第二,内容不完整,即没有涉及到最擅长的内容。第三,个别地方衔接不是很严密,如“I think that being a reporter is very interesting.”一句与其前句一起看,意义就不大了,可删除。

回顾过去
首先,将你以前从事的工作和教育背景一一列出。并写下你能记得的所有包括公司信息,证书,学位,你工作的头衔及职责和取得的特殊成就等。
目标就是发展方向,而且很多雇主在你申请工作的时候都想要知道你的就业目标。这能帮助他们决定你是否适合这份工作。在简历的第一部分加上一个叫做“Objective”开头并写一段短小的陈述。例如:“To work in a dynamic marketing department.”
职责与成果
雇主希望知道你在过去从事的工作中担任何种职责,当然更有兴趣知道你取得了哪方面的成果。因此当谈及过去的工作时,适当add oil,吹嘘一点也不妨!提到成就的时候,如你曾经在一个大项目中成功得解决了安排问题。就理直气壮得写上,“Solved scheduling conflict.”
注意语句通畅,避免语法错误
想说的虽然很多,但也不是什么都需要展示给别人。简历中允许你使用缩写句。可以省略句子主题(e.g.I, my manager),物主代词,(my/mine, his/hers),以及有时甚至冠词(the, a)。如果你在一句句子中要列出不止一个成就的话你可以用“and”取代分号。例如:“我负责一项非常重要的项目而且我的经理给予了我奖励”可以写成“Led key project;awarded by manager.”
使用行为动词

What you write on the subject line can determine whether your letter gets read, according to business etiquette expert and author of “Manners that Sell,” Lydia Ramsey.“Don't ever leave the subject line of your email blank and don't waste it by just inserting the job number,” Ramsey tells Yahoo!HotJobs.“The subject line should be clear, and specific to the job you're looking for.” An example: “Bilingual CpA seeks account manager position.”
