年少轻狂希斯克利夫与同样年少轻狂凯瑟琳相爱,却在复杂世俗背景下被迫分离。凯瑟琳爱情苦果让希斯克利夫情感世界崩裂,从此他尽余生之力实施一场灾难性复仇,这场复仇之火几乎燃尽了一切温情、希冀和生命,而作为最后赢家,希斯克利夫对也无法逃脱他死于爱梦靥。

其实一开始我是不喜欢这个故事的,因为它的叙述方式和沉重的故事情节,之所以会读完它,是出于一种对勃朗特家族的崇拜和一种既然开了头就读到尾的责任感。

但是渐渐的就喜欢上了这本关于爱情和复仇的书,觉得虽然是复仇的阴谋,但是这份阴谋让人觉得掺杂着一种让人无奈和敬重的幼稚般的的纯净。

特别的喜欢这本书里的三个大男孩,希斯克利夫,埃德加•林顿和哈里顿•肖恩.希斯克利夫是主角,但是由于受《巴黎圣母院》的影响,我总是不自觉地把他的那份对于爱情的执着和狂野归咎于他的吉普赛血统。他的这份爱情让人觉得珍贵而又难以承受。虽然说艾米丽有着对现实生活的不满和一种不受羁绊的野性散发出来,但是不得不说,她的写作最后还是妥协了现实生活的,有点像老师上节课讲的《红楼梦》,虽然有创造但还是无法摆脱自己所处的社会和阶层。当读到书的前半截的时候,按照书的主线,在我看来,希斯克利夫是完全不会出现这样的结局的,爱情的这种渴望和执着不会允许他出现这样的一个安排。有的时候我会把他和《飘》里的白瑞德做比较,我觉得他们是很相似的,只不过是遇到了不同的宿命的恋人而决定了自己的命运。凯瑟琳和思嘉都是渴望爱情的,都有生而具有的占有欲。但是凯瑟琳缺少思嘉那样的勇气,她总是轻易的伪装自己的爱情,她把自己自动归咎于自己的贵族

阶层,这是第一次从画眉山庄回来之后就体现出来的,她的举止,她的着装,让人觉得生疏。直至后来她答应埃德加的求婚和对希斯克利夫的拒绝都让人觉得重复了以往别的小说的桥段,但是事实上,她还是喜欢希斯克利夫的,要不她也不会在希斯克利夫归来之后有那样的表现。所以她是礼教和爱情的矛盾体,正是她的这种犹豫不决,造成了希斯克利夫和埃德加的悲惨结局。而这正是她和思嘉不同的地方,思嘉最终可以不顾别人世俗的眼光去追求自己的幸福,而她却做不到,她始终没有抛却道德外衣的束缚。而这样既骗了自己也最终造成了三个人的悲剧。

再来说说埃德加,埃德加是我最喜欢的人物之一。虽然他在这个小说中并不是作为男一号,也并不是艾米丽所着重塑造的典型,但是他的温文尔雅,古典的绅士风度正是我所欣赏的类型。他深深的爱着凯瑟琳,但是他却没有勇气和能力去直面凯瑟琳内心深处的那份反叛、斗争精神,他内心的凯瑟琳是被束缚在18实际道德枷锁中的淑女,而这正是希斯克利夫一直想要撕破的她的伪装。埃德加缺少那样的手段,但是他是想要保护他的妻儿的。凯瑟琳濒死前他冲上楼梯去找希斯克利夫的场景,他临死前想要保护凯西财产的场景,都是他在整篇小说中少见的他下定决心的热血场景。

哈里顿是亨得利的儿子,他和凯西都有着凯瑟琳的眼睛。这是希斯克利夫在死前见到他们在一起是的错觉,但是我想其实哈里顿和凯西的那种反叛和对爱情的向往是来自肖恩家的传统,而

那份安享和谐的可能则是来自于画眉山庄。

在整本书中,画眉山庄是文明是幸福的象征,而呼啸山庄则是斗争的场所。最后艾伦说他们要搬到画眉山庄,我想这是小哈里顿和凯西以后幸福生活的一种暗示,但是就是这种暗示,让我感到疑惑。就我个人的感觉来说,前面的部分预示着一种暴风雨的结局,而艾米丽所描写的结局则是一种安详的结局,我想也许这是迫于外界压力所更改的也或未可知。

有人说这本书是描写女权主义的,有人说这本书属于批判性风格的作品。但是我想这本书是对凯瑟琳和希斯克利夫努力却又无效的反抗的同情及呐喊。这本书中没有那种普通小说似地那种皆大欢喜的大团圆结局的安慰,即使有哈里顿和凯西的喜结连理,也无法抵消呼啸山庄上那呼啸的狂风。

评论家毛姆说,我不知道我不知道还有哪一部小说其中爱情的痛苦、迷恋、残酷、执著,曾经如此令人吃惊地描述出来。不得不说,毛姆的评论是十分的中肯的,相信《呼啸山庄》的神秘,那种怀着宏伟的信念的那份执着的内心挣扎,那份即使经年不见却不被世人认可的旷世奇恋必将会吸引一代又一代的读者。

The hatred and the love

—— after reading the Wuthering heights Hatred paralyzes life;love releases it.Hatred confuses life;love harmonizes it.Hatred darkens life;love illuminates it.——Martin Luther King, Jr.After reading the book Wuthering heights, what I learned can be concentrated on Martin Luther’s sentences —— the hatred and the love.The hero, Heathcliff is an orphan before Mr.Earnshaw adopt him, it says that Mr.Earnshaw treats Heathcliff even better than his own son.It’s quite amazing that in spite of Earnshaw’s nice treatment, Heathcliff has no gratitude at all, he revenged Hindley and Catherine.After reading Heathcliff’story, my feeling is complicated, although he is the avenger who dominate the whole story by using his vengeful machinations, he is also the most pitiful guy in Wuthering Heights, he doesn’t know what is love and don’t know how to love.Heathcliff has lived with the Earnshaws for more than 10 years, but there is no attachment between him and the whole family except Catherine.When he is torturing others, he is also suffering a lot.Catherine, who is the heroine in the book, is described by Nelly as capricious and selfish.She is just like Heathcliff, doesn’t know how to love at all.The novel ends with the scene “Mr.Lockwood discovered the three tombstones close to the moor.Cathrine’s the middle one is old now, and half buried in plants which have grown over it.On one side is Edgar Linton’s, and on the other side is Heathcliff’s which is still bare.I lingered round them, under that benign sky, watched the moths fluttering among the heath and harebells, listened to the soft wind breathing through the grass, and wondered how anyone could ever imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quite earth.” It really impresses me.I think this is the right interpretation of the most beautiful love and hatred.As the saying goes, “hatred springs from love”.Heathcliff’s hatred springs from the love for Catherine.It grows when Catherine decide to marry Edgar so that she will be “the greatest woman of the neighbourhood ”.But after finishing reading the whole book, I can feel that they love each other deeply.They may have a happy ending if Catherine didn’t surrender her vanity and ignorance.In the ninth chapter of the novel, there is such a passage of her inner monologue, “My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods, time will change its, I’m well aware, as winter changes the trees.My visible delighted, but necessary Nelly, I am Heathchliff!He’s always, always in my mind, not as a pleasure, any more than I am always a pleasure to myself, but as my own being.Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same, and Linton’s is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from

fire.” Heathcliff also said to Mrs.Dean that two words would comprehended his future of losing Cathrine—death and hell.What lead to his hatred is not only because of the sadness love but also his life experience, living environment and class standing.As a child, he gravely said: “I’m trying to settle how I shall pay Hindley back.I don’t care how long I wait, if I can only do it at last.And god won’t have the satisfaction that I shall.” Later, He neither wept nor prayed: he cursed and defied: execrated God and man, and gave himself up to reckless dissipation.During his life, his bad behavior to Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange already altered the color of his mind.In the end, Mr.Heathcliff died of his true love and his all-life hatred.It’s a tragedy of two families.From the tragedy I realized that the greatest source of misery and hatred in this world is cling to the past hurts and love.We sometimes shouldn’t hark back to some events which had gone.Learn to be more tolerant, wise and kind.
