The Graduate
As the saying goes “If one idles away his time, youth will fade away and life will run out on him”.This is a few days ago of movie , The Graduate. It’s really an educational movie.I learn a lot from it.After graduating from college, The protagonist Ben, an outstanding man, might have had a promising life. But he was confused about his future. He didn’t know what he want and what he need clearly. He missed himself. He made a mistake that he couldn’t resist the temptation from one of his father’s friend, an middle aged woman.More ridiculous, he fell in love with the woman’s daughter. It’s unbelievable and ironic for us.When we lose our dream, we may make mistake easily. We can lose a lot but ourselves. We should always know what we want. There may be many kinds of temptation waiting for us but we should say “no” to them.We are rational creatures. We can recognize which one is right. At the end of the movie, Ben made a right choices. He got what he want.We always make mistakes. We should face them and try our best to make up the losses.

The Brief Description and Comment on Titanic Titanic seems a quite simple story.A ship, a voyage, a man and a woman, but the story is so meaningful and romantic that touches audiences’ heart deeply and inspires the impression of love. There were many kinds of emotion this film wanted to present, such as the love of families, the friendship and even the love between strangers. But what impressedme deeply was the love between Rose and Jack.On April 10, 1912, known as the “Industrial history of the world miracle” of the luxuryliner,Titanic began its maiden voyagefrom England to New York.A wealthy girl Rose with her mother and her fiancé Carl traveled as the first classpassenger. At the same time, the charming but poor young man Jack won an inferiorclass ticket in a gambling at the dock.On board, Jack was fascinated by Rose the first time he saw her.And coincidently, Jack rescued Rose, a girl who was trapped by the economic marriage and tired of deceptive social activities, when she intended to throw herself into the sea.As they communicated further, they soon fell in love with each other.Jack took Rose to the inferior class ball, painted the portrait for her, and even dreamt about future with her.The two people’s feeling warmed up gradually. On the calm Sunday evening of April 14,1912,the Titanic was hit by the iceberg and the “never sink” Titanic faced the sunken fate, the love between this young couple would also be tested by life and death.Rose gave up the chance to get on the lifeboat for staying with Jack.Jack in the water voiced trembled with cold but still continued to encourage Rose to never give up the hope of survival. At the end of the story, as we all known, Jack died unfortunately, but Rose was rescued by the people who returned to look for survivals.Although Rose survived, she knew she had lost all the world, because her beloved one would never come back. She promised Jack to live a happy life, not only for herself but also for Jack.Rewatching Titanic in the class, I found I enjoyed it as much as I did when I first saw it around five years ago.I was surprised that this movie had lost none of its power over these five years. And I don’t want to deny that I cried again in all the same places. Some professional film critics considered that the sinking of the Titanic implies the collapse of the Capitalism in the end of the 19th century. However, I would like to say the director may had not only indicated the downfall of the Capitalism, but also showed many aspects of human nature, no matter good kinds or bad kinds, such as love, faith, bravery, hope, and hypocrisy, mammonism, vanity, selfishness, and so on.After appreciation of Titanic, I had my own opinions about the two contrary aspects of human nature presented in this movie through some details. It is well known thatthe love between Jack and Rose is the eternal theme of this film.Their love was so pure and powerful, directly into the softest deep soul of people.Such a beautiful love, in front of the disaster, never submitted to the destruction and always kept faith in the vow that "You jump, I jump".Finally, the disaster only became the footnote of this duteouslove.Like the epiphyllums try to bloom for a longer time, finally have to let thewither record its once brilliancy.Although it is a romantic love story without a happy ending, it still spreads warmth among each person who has faith in love.Despite the love, many other brilliant aspects of human nature were described in this movie. In front of the crisis, true gentlemen still abided by the principle of “children first, ladies first” until the last second of life.In front of the choice of life or death, there were no businessmen, no scholars, no officials, only children, women and men.And I also couldn’t forget the band which kept playing the music instead of escaping with their own life even the ship was sinking.Their brave and calm attitude towards death touched me deeply. In a word, crisis will not disappear because we fear or complain. The greatness of human nature lies on altruism and dedication.Crisis, this litmus test, absolutely can reflect humanity’s brightest light. But, crisis can also reveal some gloomy aspects of human nature.According to the movie’s background, economy and technology developed really fast in that period.People thus became very confident on human intellectual capabilities. They believed their power of conquering the nature is inapproachable. However, things do not always follow the way people wish to be.The sinking of the Titanic sounded the alarm that self-conceit may led to a disaster.Another negative social mood of that time exposed by the film wasvanity.I was really shocked that Rose’s mother wanted to marry her daughter to Karl just because he was extremely rich, while she didn’t care whether Rose loved him or not.In a word, Titanic is not simply an affectional storybetween Jack and Rose.It shows more than love. And although language is the most exquisite tool, it cannotexactlydescribe the shock that Titanic brought to me.

(一)This is a story about a special woman who has been exposed to a hostileenvironment but struggling for her ideal life conreattionously and fearlessly. It seems to me that many readers ‘s English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer.It is not surprising to find some differences because it was filmed and retold in a new way,but the spirit of the novel remains to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.Jane Eyer was a born orphan, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as she could. At the beginning of Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage, she didn’t get what she had been expecting. As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression,Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner,Rochester,a man with warm heart while a cold face outside. After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and meant to get marry,Jane came to know Rochester had already got a legal life. And,unfortunately,Rochester seemed under the shadow of his wife.Jane wanted to give him a hand, however, she made her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own priciples. She is Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife,Jane chose to stay with him forever.Life is ceaselessly changing, but our living priciples remain.Firmly persisting for the rights of being independent gives us enough confidence and courage. In the world of the film,we have found te stories of ourselves, which makes us so concerned about the fate of the dramatis personae. It’s our spirit that makes the life meaningful.简爱英文观后感
(二)Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens', is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century. The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings.I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill.To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end.One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs.Maylie and Rose and began a new life.He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness.I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty.Although I don't think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person.Goodness is to humans what water is to fish.He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, 'The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose', he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person.People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people's honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted.As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their 'kindness', they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his essay, 'Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.'
That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those 'vermin-to-be'to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.简爱英文观后感
(三)Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:
We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodneon one side and must check the badneon the other side.We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet.Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality. We also remember her striving for life, her toughneand her confidence…When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it.And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when MiIngram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’。But as the little governehad said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulleand heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind.God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impreus so much and let us feel the power inside her body.In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’。I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.

《花木兰》
Why Mulan sticks out as a great Disney film.I was impressed by this Disney film for so many reasons, too many to list here, but I will go on the record as saying that Mulan has got to be one of the best Disney female characters that ever saw production, in the midst of a colorful and artistic film, that will resonate in your memory.Mulan sticks out in my mind for this reason. For once, we have a strong female lead, or at the least, stronger than most of them. She isn't counted among the Disney “princesses” line-up.She doesn't want for herself, and she seeks to look deeper within herself to discover her inner being. She isn't like Ariel, who wants to be someone else. She isn't like Jasmine, who sits in luxury, waiting to be swept off her feet by Prince Charming, just like Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and almost any female character that Disney brings to life. And while she does share some traits among this list, she stands out because she does something that these do not.She uses her mind.Mulan, in fact, has more in common with male Disney leads than the female Disney leads.Mulan is a thinker, and a do-er.She's resourceful, like Aladdin. She is quick to act, like Eric(mermaid.)And she sacrifices herself for the sake of others, like Hercules. She also speaks her mind, even in a culture that does not allow such a thing. She doesn't waste time pining about “will I ever find true love?” Indeed, we see that she has an attraction to Shang(as he was her husband in the legends,)but we see her uncomfortable and unsure of meeting the Match-maker.She begs for her father's life when Chi-Fu came to the village. When you see her make her decision to take her father's place in the army, she does so out of her love for him, valuing his life above hers. She doesn't wish to become a man to see what it is like or for a change.Only to save his life. She later doubts herself and her reasons for going, but she did so because of her inner strengths, something other female Disney leads too often lack.(And it is these strengths that Shang is attracted to at the end.)This movie also has a simple, but very effective villain, Shan Yu.Though not as memorable as Jafar or Ursula, he is more effective and more menacing because he is not fantastic.By that, I mean that he is not magical, he holds no special power. He is portrayed as a man, and as a man that could have truly existed, performing vicious acts that men do.We see the destruction that his army lays to a village, and when Mulan finds the doll, it shows that Shan Yu left no one living, man, woman or child. This is what makes him so effective as a villain, showing how truly human he indeed is.Granted, the producers did not develop him in any great depth, but they showed enough of him to remind us of his threat to China.Besides, sometimes the better villains are the ones you don't know too much about, or see a lot of.Of the rest of the supporting cast, I will only mention four of them as being memorable in any real way.Chi-Fu, the emperor's consultant, was a reminder of the way many men looked at women in this culture. He thrusts his head up when Mulan begs for her father's life, and when she is discovered to be a woman, though she is a hero, he is quick to insult her, and to order her execution, simply because she impersonated a man.The other three were, of course, her comrades, Ling, Yao, and Chian Po.Though they were mainly comic relief(almost like a 3 stooges set,)they remained loyal to Mulan and trusted her fully, even after she was discovered.I like them, because they were not discriminatory to her in any way, even trying to stop her execution. When Mulan told them she had an idea to help the emperor faster, they were the first to her side, even when Shang was still reluctant to do so.Overall, a wonderful movie to the Disney list.If you haven't seen it, then do so, you won't regret it.And yes, Mushu was a cool character as well.**** In Response to an earlier post by Phoenix-1 **** To expect any movie to accurately portray history in any way is lunacy.Even those movies that come close to historical accuracy are flawed in many ways. This was a way of telling a story, as any movie is.It can be argued that it tries to provoke curiosity in another culture, but it is also meant to entertain.I would also like to point out that Mulan is really not “historical,” like Joan of Arc, but rather she is a legend, much like Hercules and Aladdin, who also come from the realm of myth, stories and legends. And while there is some difference between the original legend and this movie, your examples of how Disney would butcher tales of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln do not compare to this story in any way.Your arguments for comparison should be better applied to Pocahontas, as she was an actual historical figure.海底总动员
Somewhere, under the sea, weak-finned clown fish Nemo(Alexander Gould)lives with his fretful father, Marlin(Albert Brooks).Smothered by pop‘s paranoia, he ventures away from the reef, but his dad‘s dread is justified when a passing diver whisks him away.Taken to a tank in a Sydney dentists, Nemo meets Gill(Willem Dafoe)and co-friendly fish who dream of escaping to the ocean.Meanwhile, Marlin bumps into a blue tang named Dory(Ellen DeGeneres), and sets out to save his son...The splendour of natural history hit The Blue Planet is matched by the wit of the script and stars.Barry Humphries has a terrific cameo as a great white shark who‘s sworn off killing(Remember, fish are friends, not food!), while DeGeneres provides perfect timing and tone as Dory, whose short-term memory loss is a gag that never stops running.
