练英语听力的误区
误区一:多听几遍就会了
之前看到之前看徐小平的书上讲过,“练听力就是一直听VOA,听上很长时间,感觉自然就有了。” 于是,我在两个月内走路坐地铁上课都在听 VOA,换了一大堆题材,还下了无数的 podcast。
坚持了两个月以后,终于明白一道理:
听不懂就是听不懂,跟遍数没关系,你听多少遍你都还是听不懂!
误区二:关于听写的重要性
这个是非常多人有的误区,就是关于 ”听写“ 的重要性。
以前我也中过枪。曾经一直泡在沪江练 VOA听写,什么题材都听写过,从中东地区的农业贸易到奥巴马和世行总裁的谈判稿 ……
就这么跌跌撞撞听写了一个月以后,有一天,我在听写一个 QE3有关的经济类报道的时候 …… 发现了这样一个 令人惊讶的事实: 这篇文章的中文翻译稿,我都看不懂。
然后就悟到了这个道理:
听不懂一样东西,有两个原因,一个是 ”英文听力能力“,还有一个是”题材熟悉度 “ 大多数人听不懂 VOA、BBC,其实是因为后者。
作为一个商科白痴的数学生,你如果给我一本《财经》杂志,那上面的大部分文章我是几乎一个字也看不懂的。中文都看不懂的题材,你指望给你英文就能听懂?你在逗我?
总而言之,对于训练听力而言,题材极其重要。因为题材找不对的话,你很可能非常努力,自信心丧失殆尽,还是练不好听力。
在此给大家推荐最近发现的一个安卓应用:知米听力。这个应用很好的帮助用户客服了上边所讲的两个误区,用了几天之后感觉确实不错。讲究精听每一篇文章,而不是一味的强调数量;材料先按难度分,然后按专题区分,很轻巧的就找到适合自己的听力材料。
二、听力训练要精听泛听结合
精听就是在高度集中精力的情况下尽量把所听到的语言材料完全听懂,泛听指广泛地听各种不同类型的风格和不同来源渠道的声音材料,在听力训练时,要力求做到精听与泛听相结合,课上精听,课下泛听,精听抓“质”,泛听抓“量”。精听与泛听,在不同时期各有侧重,而在适当时期有效结合,听力水平就会大大提高。
关于精听,有三种方法可以参考。
其一,找一段难度适中的材料,每放一句,便跟读一句,力求听出每一个细微的单词。如果一遍不行,单句重新来过,并总结自己听不出来的原因。
其二,跟上一方法比较类似,只不过以笔带口,跟读变成听写。其三,不间断的播放整个一个 section,边听边做笔记,不要去看题目,这是最像雅思考试的一种练习方法了。记完后,将自己的笔记跟题目对一下,看是否能把考题中的考点都捕获到。通过这种练习可以揣摩出题中关注细节的这一特点。每次精听的时间不宜过长,其三、五十分钟即可;材料也不宜过难。谈到泛听,也并非指什么材料都听。大家可能平时可能有收听 BBC的习惯,但如果自己只能听懂 60%左右,那这样的泛听除了增加了点你的语感外,也就没有什么其它大作用了。所以即使是泛听,也要根据自己的水平,去选择难度适当的材料。

三、练英语听力,高效的听写步骤
要想提高英语听力要学会精听,而精听一个重要的练习方法是听写(Dictation)。有一个高效的听写步骤对听力的提升有很大帮助,下面就把个人的一些听写的心得体会分享给大家,希望能有所帮助
第一步总听全文。既然叫总听,就是不要陷入文章内容的细节。总听只做两件事,一是明确主题,大概知道这个段落讲了什么事。二是寻找逻辑。英文文章的逻辑包括什么呢?只要能简单判断出这篇文章是按时间顺序写的还是空间顺序;是现象解释还是两种观点的比较等。所以在总听第一遍的时候,关注那些起承转合的词,可以帮我们快速把握文章的逻辑关系。比如你听一篇段落,听到 in the past,那你的预期就该是,后面可能会提到 now,也许还有in the future。听到“一些人认为 ”,那你的反应应该是,接下来会谈 “另一些人或者我认为的”。以前大家对于这样的能够提示你文章逻辑关系或顺序的词是不敏感的。总是在听写第一遍的时候就陷入细节。
第二步细听每句。在细听每句时,我见过有同学用复读机听。一句话说完,他就按个复读,让机子一遍一遍地读这句话,他不紧不慢地逐字听写下来。这种听写就属于低效甚至无效听写。换句话说,你付出了 80%的努力,却可能只带来 20%的效果。还有些同学是这样练习的:就听一句话时,刚听到两个词,就马上按暂停,写下这两个词,然后再听三个词按暂停,写下这三个词。一句话被他分割成很多部分,听得支离破碎。我这里讲的细听每句,主要强调句子的概念,是 sentence by sentence的听写,不是word by word的听写。不过,这里的 sentence也不是说非得到一个句号才算是一个 sentence,这里指的是一个语意的停顿,包括像逗号,分号,冒号等,都叫语意的停顿,在这样的地方可以按暂停。具体操作建议:一句话先听一遍,到了一个语意停顿的地方按暂停,通过你的回忆把这句话写下来。有同学可能说,老师,一句话说了十几个词,我才能写出三五个单词,根本没关系,因为我们在这里练的不是把听到的内容完全写下来的能力,而是锻炼记忆和总结能力。这里记住:每句话只听一遍,尽力写出或复述出你听到的内容。能写多少算多少。开始能写三五个词,坚持练习,就能写出更多的。
第三步反复琢磨。这一步是核心关键。“反复 ”在这里不是一个副词来修饰琢磨的,反复和琢磨都是动词,指既要反复,又要琢磨。反复多少次合适呢?我见过特用功的同学,一句话听不懂,他就发誓说不把你听出来我就不吃饭!于是反复了三五十遍,听得眼睛都绿了,还是没听明白。这不又是 80%的努力用在了没有效率的 20%的事情上了。反复三五遍是最合适的。如果一句话反复三五遍还没有听出来的话,再听十遍八遍和三五遍的效果是没有太大区别的。不过反复一两遍又太少。不要急着知道说得是什么,要通过反复三五遍,建立对整个句子的感觉。

晨读是个好习惯。同学们可以每天早上坚持放声读半个小时英语,越大声越好,因为越大声就越自信;也可以坚持背一段经典英语短文,模仿标准的英语发音,不断的纠正发音。把背诵的内容反复消化,一方面可以扩充词汇量,另一方面也是给平时学习的语法知识找到了绝佳范例,更易于掌握。大家可以从报刊杂志上阅读大量的英语文章,并坚持把阅读内容用自己的话复述一遍,坚持三个月,口语水平的进步会让你信心大增。3.阅读与听力练习同时进行
很多人为提高听力把所有时间都集中在听力材料的练习上,这是一种失误。毕竟大家不是生活在国外,无论怎样营造,都不可能有一个真正的外国的文化氛围。其次,听力练习中,能接触到多少信息呢?这个信息包括词汇、语法、习惯用法、文化等等,但往往十盒磁带不及一本外国原著所包含的信息量。只要发音正确,在阅读时接触到的词,在听的时候遇到,大部分都可能听懂。倘若同学们的听力目标是想听什么就能听懂什么的话,阅读起到的作用更是举足轻重了。反过来,如果在阅读中都无法读懂的句子,在听力中能够听懂吗?词汇量和语法是阅读的关键,阅读量的多少以及阅读能力的好坏某种程度上决定听说能力的高低,而学习语言,又必须从听说开始,可见,英语阅读不容忽视。4.大胆开口讲英语
听不懂别人的话,就不知道该说什么;说出别人听不懂的话,也同样无法交流,因此听说是不能分离的,同学们在平时的练习过程中要注意把两者有机地结合起来。听力练习的最终目的不仅仅是做听力考试题目,更重要的是提高自己的交际能力。因此,在完成听力题目的基础上,要尽量模仿录音中的语音、语调,大声地重复所听懂的内容,争取最后能够完整、准确地复述所听材料。同学们要大胆开口用英语回答老师的问题,敢于用英语向老师提问、与同学交流,平时要多参加英语角、英语晚会,努力为自己创造开口讲英语的机会。5.精听与泛听相结合

五、泛听如何提高英语听力
关于泛听,大家问得最多的就是到底要泛到什么程度。是泛泛地听吗?听什么?听多久?有同学问过我说,每天刷牙洗脸的时候开着录音机听,每天骑自行车的时候戴着耳机听,甚至是晚上失眠时,一听英语就睡着了。在这些情况下,都不知道自己在听什么,这样泛听到底对提高听力水平有没有帮助?我要告诉大家的是,这其实是提高听力最有效的手段,就是每天只要有空,就戴着耳机听英语。之所以一些同学没有提高,或提高缓慢,是因为没有做到 “每天” 和“只要有空 ”。
我用我自己的经历和另一位新东方托福名师的例子,来跟大家讲讲这样的练习方式。我当年上大学的时候每次考听力基本都是第一,而且我当时也没觉得听力对我来说特别难。我们宿舍有九个女生,有一次在宿舍聊天,有人就问: “张晓楠,为什么你的听力这么好? ”说实在的,当时我根本就不知道什么学习方法,我自己也不知道为什么好。但一个室友的一句话点醒了梦中人,她说: “我知道。因为张晓楠每天总是戴着耳机在听。”可是很遗憾,我当时每天听的全是港台流行歌曲,根本没听英文啊。她说: “听什么无所谓,总之你老是戴着耳机听,就把耳脉打通了。”当时大家笑作一团,我也瞬间觉得自己似乎在练什么武侠神功,还耳脉!
不过笑过之后,我想起来一件事情,马上觉得我的室友说得很有道理。我从高中的时候就自觉自发自愿自主的产生了对英语的兴趣,那个年代,都是从初中开始学英语,大学以前从来没上过什么听力口语课,学的是经典的哑巴英语,所以那时也没人告诉过我什么精听、泛听的概念。初中学英语,觉得是为老师而学。高中才觉得真正喜欢上英语。于是出于兴趣,每天没事儿就拿着磁带挂着耳机听。听了以后也没什么直接的感觉,没觉得听力水平提高。但后来意识到,泛听最大的好处就是,对英语语言的语音语调语汇句型,有了基本的感观认识,在参加考试过程中心理上就不会有障碍,不会紧张。那时可选择的材料非常少,我听的是《走遍美国》,那是我第一次觉得直观地接触到美国人真实的生活、文化、社会,让我更喜欢听了。那时住宿,宿舍熄灯早,我于是就黑着听,直到听睡着为止。我就这么泛听了两三年,不知不觉中,英语听力水平已经大幅提高。后来总结时感觉,如果当时懂得的话,加上精听,两者相辅相成,一定提高的更快。我喜欢一句话:能充分利用零散时间的人,才是最有可能成功的人。整块儿的时间谁都能看到能把握,而人和人的区别,更多时候是来自于细微处对自己的把控力。我虽然不算成功,但是我总是努力学习别人的优点。同时,吾日三醒吾身,争取做得更好。我当时作为新东方学生的一段利用零散时间的经历,也为我听力水平的提高,带来了很好的效果。
那时我骑自行车去北京新东方学习。我上的是暑假班,一共四十天的课,单程路上要骑两个多小时,意味着每天来回有五个多小时的时间在路上。早上八点半上课,十一点下课。太阳没出来就要出门,中午阳光正灿烂哪,又得往回骑。第一天骑完,我就问自己,每天这五个多小时的宝贵生命,难道就这样被我浪费了吗?我想我骑着自行车还能干嘛?我总不能看书吧。我想唯一可以做的事情就是戴着耳机听英语。那时不像现在有 MP3,Ipod,我那时拿的是个录音机,用个绳子拴在自行车后座上。戴的耳机是那种罩在耳朵上比较大的,小的容易伤耳朵。从那天开始,我就跟个飞行员似的,在炎炎烈日中,戴着那副大耳机。我骑了四十天自行车,每天戴五个多小时的耳机听英语。其实,我并没有多少注意力是在耳朵里的英文上的,我我骑车子还得看路看车看红绿灯吧。我还是个喜欢挑战自我的人,一路上跟自己比赛。比如,今天我用八分钟骑到了这棵树,明天我就想试试能不能用七分钟骑到。就在这种情况下,四十天之后,我惊讶地发现,之前觉得听起来可能还有点小问题的材料,居然已经没有障碍了。
另外一个例子,就是新东方一个托福阅读名师的例子。他阅读写作水平都很高,听力比起那两项来,稍逊风骚。他就问我,到底这个听力该怎么提高。我对他说:你工作这么忙,估计也没时间坐下来练什么听力的精听,你就只要用空就挂着耳机听英语吧。他是个态度特别端正、做事特别认真的人,从那之后,无论在哪儿见到他,甚至大家一起聚会吃饭,他都戴着耳机在听英语。半年之后,他跟我讲:这样果真有效啊!

六、考研英语复试:口语听力应加强技巧性训练
英语复试是考研复试必须要经历的,也是很多同学都比较迷茫和担心的,不知道该如何下手准备。事实上,尽管各个院校的复试题目不同,但都并不难。可是要想在 15~20 分钟的时间里,展现出自己的英语水平也并不是一件很容易的事情,这就需要考生提前做好相关准备工作,不打无准备之仗。
从形式上说,英语听力口语的测试一般有两种方式,一种是将听说单独考核,先统一考听力,然后由学校大学外语部组织对考生进行逐一的口语 面试;另一种是将听力口语的考试与专业课的面试结合起来,这样更有利于全面考察考生的语言表达能力和专业交流能力。一般来讲,选择前一种考试方式的学校,很可能将听力,阅读,写作等项目放在一张试卷中,大家也要做好阅读和写作的准备。而绝大部分院校出于人员和时间的考虑,往往采取后者。下面我就如何提高英语的口语和听力水平跟大家做个简单分享。
大部分高校口语考试的第一部分是简短的自我介绍,自我介绍是你给导师的第一印象,大家都非常清楚我们没有第二次机会给人第一次印象,所以要在短时间内,既能对自己的情况做出清楚的介绍,又能给老师深刻的印象,所以就要“言之有物、个性突出”。可以自己先提前写好背熟,大概 500字左右就可以。一般包括这样的内容:名字,原来毕业院校,你平时的爱好兴趣等,现在所报考的专业,你为什么报考该专业,你对该专业怎样的感兴趣,对当前该专业发展的简短评价,以及你准备以怎样的态度去研究该专业等等。一般情况下,如果老师看出你是在背事先准备好的材料,他会有意打断你,问你一些其他的问题,测试一下你的反应能力。词语的使用上,可以适当使用一些 not only„but also、rather„ than这样的句型,可以增强表达的连贯性和逻辑性。另外还可以多用一些口语意味比较强的词汇,使自我介绍更富有新鲜感。
另外,口语考试的话题随机性比较大,对有可能问到并展开的话题也要有所准备。可以事先阅读一些相关文章,积累一些有关词汇。比如考生所在地区的文化和风俗习惯,如气候特征,特色食品,婚庆习俗,重大节日,名胜古迹,休闲娱乐等。同时,考生也要关心社会上发生的大事和时事。最好经常阅读一些英文报刊和收听英语广播,或跟同伴及朋友一起讨论一些话题。
关于听力,跨考教育王坤老师建议大家一定要在考前一个星期左右专注听抄练习,这种训练是帮助我们快速形成语感的不二法门。听抄分为两种:泛听和精听。所谓泛听,是指大家在听录音材料的时候,不必把听到的每一句都字字不差的写出来,而是只需要将材料中的关键信息抓住即可。在刚开始的几天里,可以尽可能地多写一些重要信息,一边听不懂可以多听几遍,这种方法尤其适合应付那些喜欢采用 四六级听力试题的学校。而精听则要枯燥得多,但也是收效最大的。它需要我们把每一个字乃至每一个标点符号都写出来,在写的过程中,我们可以检测出自己是在哪一方面需要加强锻炼,是在发音方面、词汇方面,还是深层次的文化方面。这种方法适合准备要求高的学校,即使用新闻听力的学校。所以,在刚开始的一个星期内,大家一定要避免急功近利,让自己的心情平静下来,因为再急也没有人会帮你过听力这一关,只有靠我们自己多多练习,仔细归纳。
在复习的后一个星期,我们可以转向技巧性训练,建议大家多找英语高人指点自己的听力技巧,或选择上一些负责任的辅导班,专项练习自己的面试听力技巧以及面试礼仪等,这些都是大有裨益的。无论是口语还是听力,都是要靠考生踏踏实实的去学习和准备,复试不通过,之前的所有努力都付之东流,所以,一定要重视复试,认真准备,同时也要相信自己,通过一段时间的突击冲刺和提前准备,一定可以在复试中杀出重围,过关斩将,成就自己的梦想!
