《英语课程标准》指出:“基础教育阶段英语课程的任务是激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣,使学生掌握一定的英语基础知识和听、说、读、写技能,形成一定的综合语言运用能力。”小学是英语学习的启蒙阶段,它关系着整个学习阶段的学习质量,而学好语音是英语学习入门的关键,是培养学生进行“听说读写”四会能力的基础。因此,如何教好音标已成为我们小学英语教师亟需探索的问题。下面是本人在这方面的做法。

一、提前音标教学,因事制宜

对于小学生来说,英语是一门陌生的学科,英语中的不少发音与汉语相差甚远。在初学英语时,常有学生用汉语拼音或汉字给单词“注音”,如单词“pen”学生注上“碰”,“bus”学生注上“巴斯”等等,结果导致学生往往将及其简单的音发错,造成发音不准,如果说汉语拼音是学生认识汉字的拐杖,那么学好音标不就是通往英语学习成功之路的一座桥梁吗?有鉴于此,在五年级学生刚学了二十六个英文字母后,我就对他们进行了为期一周的音标教学。首先是48个音素的标准发音,为了便于学生记忆和掌握,我摒弃了原始的枯燥乏味的“填鸭式”教学,教学生用“掐头法”、“去尾法”、“对比法”、“儿歌记忆法”等,使学生避免了死记硬背,学起来轻松、有趣,只用很短的时间就把音标记住了,效果更佳。如“掐头法”即将部分辅音字母的名称音中的第一个音去掉,余下的音即为该字母在单词中的读音,例:Ff[ef]→[e][f]去[e]余[f];Ss[es] →[e][s]去[e]余[s]等。“去尾法”即将部分辅音字母名称音中后面的音去掉,余下的音即为该字母在单词中的读音,例Bb[bi:] →[b][i:]去[i:]余[b];Vv[vi:] →[v][i:]去[i:]余[v]等等。教辅音[g]、1 [h]、[j]、[w]、[r]时可将其与汉语拼音g、h、j、w、r的发音进行对比,加以记忆。学完48个音素,我对五个元音字母Aa、Ee、Ii、Oo、Uu在重读开、闭音节,非重读音节中的发音规律及一些字母组合的发音等,做了讲解和归纳,学生通过这样相对集中的学习,为以后学习单词打下了坚实的基础。

二、指导正确拼读,因势利导

在音标学习初期,往往有学生对音标的拼读不得法,尤其是含三个以上音素的音标。于是我引导学生像拼汉语拼音一样试拼音标,并采用比较练习的方法反复训练,如[æk],[kæ],[a:m],[ma:]。通过练习学生逐渐掌握了方法,会拼读较复杂的音标了。对于三个以上音素的音标,我采用拼凑法拼读,如[mæp],先拼[m-æ],然后在这个合成音后面在加上[p],对于含有两个音节以上的音标则采用组合法。如[‵hæpi],先拼[hæ]和[pi],然后将两个音节组合在一起,读[hæpi],在提醒学生注意重音,多读几遍就可以了,这种方法对于学生打好语音基础上大有裨益。在以后的单词教学中,我欣喜的发现一般的学生都能根据音标自己拼读单词,聪明的学生还能根据发音规则来记忆单词,大大节省了学生背单词的时间。

三、游戏中学音标,寓教于乐

爱玩、活泼、好动是小学生的天性,玩中乐,乐中学,学中受益。因此,我们可以经常开展一些竞赛性、趣味性、启发性较强的游戏,让学生走一走、动一动、读一读、拼一拼,激发学生进入乐学状态。

1、抢读音标

将全班学生分成若干小组。然后教师逐个出示一些音标卡片,学生们举手抢答,教师让最先举手的学生读出该音标,读对的给该组记10分,得分最多的组为优胜。

2、听音摘音标、这是一个训练学生听认音标能力的游戏,首先教师把所学过的音标写 在卡片上,共写两组,分别贴在黑板上,然后把学生分成两组,游戏开始,每组的第一名学生在黑板前等候,教师说出一个音标,这两名学生应立即摘下教师所念的音标卡片,放到讲台上,摘的对而快的得2分,对而慢的得1分,不对的不得分。在教师念第一个音标时,各组的第二名学生应上前等候,在第一名学生摘玩音标后,教师立即念另一个音标,游戏接着进行,最后得分多的组为优胜。

3、听单词找音标

这个游戏的玩法与游戏2相似,不同的是,我们在黑板上贴的是两组元音音标的卡片,游戏开始,我们说的不是音标而是单词,学生应摘下该单词中所含的音标。

4、听音标竞赛

这是一个训练学生听音标的游戏,教师准备两套音标卡片,并将全班分成两组,没人发一张卡片,教师快速念音标,持有该音标卡片的学生应迅速站起来,最先站起来的得两分,后站出来的得一分,没站出来的得零分,得分多的组获胜。

5、看音标抢读单词、将全班同学分成若干小组,然后教师逐个出示一些单词的音标卡片(如[kæp]),学生们举手抢答,教师让最先举手的学生读出该单词,拼出来并说出词义,读对的给该组记10分,得分最多的组为优胜。

6、听单词找元音音标

教师准备若干套元音音标的卡片,然后让每组出来五个人,每人发一张卡片(如五个元音字母的长音或短音)。游戏开始,教师说一个单词,如play,拿卡片[ei]的学生应立即站出来并将卡片举起,举的快而对的给2分,举的慢的给1分,没举或举错的不给分,最后得分多的组胜。做这个游戏,前期可按长元音、短元音或双元音分开进行,后期可混合进行。

7、猜音标 全班分成若干组,教师教师给学生们出示若干个(如10个)音标卡片,让学生们认读后,教师任意抽出其中一张放在背后,依次让各组学生猜,猜对的组得10分,然后教师再出示理另一张继续让学生猜,各组第一排的学生都猜过后,第二排的学生接着猜,最后看哪一组得分多。

8、摘苹果

教师先在黑板上出示一张挂满苹果树的挂图,没个苹果都写有一个单词,如pen,red,ball,wall等,在出示几个篮子,每只篮子都贴有一个音标,[e]、[ɔ:]等,然后找几名学生上前面来,把果树上的苹果摘下来,将含有相同元音的单词放入相应的篮子里,如:将写有pen,red的苹果放在贴有音标[e]的篮子里,将写有ball,wall的苹果放入贴有音标[ɔ:]的篮子里,最快最准确的获胜。

9、找朋友

将学生分成两组,教师发给学生每人一张单词卡片(如pen),在另一组必定有一人持有一张相同元音音素的单词卡片(如red)。游戏开始,教师说一个音素,如[e],手持含有此音素的单词(即pen和red)的两位学生应迅速站起来,并读出这两个单词,最先站起来的得2分,后站起来的得1分,每站起来的得零分,得分多的组获胜。

10、Bingo 每个学生准备一张纸,并在上面画一个“井”字,将纸分成九格,然后教师随便念九个学生的音标,学生边听边将音标写在格子中,随便填在哪格里都行。学生填好后教师打乱次序念三个音标,哪个学生的三个音标在一条直线上就喊“Bingo”,然后将纸举起请教师检查,最先喊“Bingo”并写得准确的学生获胜。

11、运用Chant记音标

Chant以它优美的节奏和活泼的律动(如配以拍手、点头等动作)深受孩子们的喜爱。它将枯燥乏味的音标学习变成了一个有趣的活动,极大地调动了孩子的积极性,学习效果明显增强,如教 [æ][b][k][ei][f][e][][i]时可编这样一段Chant: A is apple [æ] [æ] [æ] b is bag [b][b][b] c is cat [k] [k] [k] d is dog [d] [d] [d] e is egg [e] [e] [e] f is face [f] [f] [f] Show me your hands,clap clap clap [æ] [æ] [æ] Show me your heads,nod nod nod [] [] [] Show me your arms,wave wave wave [ei] [ei] [ei] Show me your eyes,wink wink wink [i] [i] [i]

四、激发学习动机,导之以情

特级教师于绮有一句名言:“要把学生培养成人,须着力点燃学生心灵的火花;要点燃学生心灵的火花,教师自己必须是一个火把,必须心中充满炙热的阳光。”只有激发起学生的好奇心和求知欲,使他们在学习过程中产生进一步学习的愿望和要求,才能使他们更深入地学习。因此在音标教学中,我一方面指导学生正确的学习方法,另一方面采用丰富多彩、生动活泼的游戏活动吸引和感染学生,让学生充分感受到英语学习的趣味性,从而更喜爱英语这门课程。心理学研究表明:让学生动眼、动耳、动手、动脑、动心、动情,将有助于学生全面、主动地发展。其次,在每次的课堂教学中,在游戏活动中,对于读的既快又准的学生,我或是给予赞许的微笑,或是慈爱地抚摸一下学生的小脑袋,或是真诚的赞扬:“Good!”“Great!”“Well done!”此时师生同乐,学生更是心情愉快,与老师的心贴得更近了,师生感情更融洽了。苏霍姆林斯基说:“成功的快乐是一种巨大的精神力量,它可以促使儿童产生好好学习的愿望。”学生有了这种成就感,学习英语的信心会更足,学习兴趣更浓厚,进一步提高了学习效果,形成良性循环。然后是要注意学生的个别差异,对于班上一些接受能力强、学得好的学生教师可得出更高的要求,如单词拼读时,要求他们从单个音素增补的口拼过程直接拼读出每个音节的读音,这样使他们不断努力,获取更大的进步;对于部分学习时有思想包袱的学生我告诉他们其实音标拼读很简单,而且我们学的只是初级知识,鼓励他们多拼、多读;对于学习有困难的后进生,我给他们降低学习要求,分解难点,稍有成就和进步即予以表扬。

学习英语,听、说、读、写四种能力不可偏废,而正确的发音是基础,音标的学习更是基础的基础。如果以开始这个基础打不好,以后发音就不正确,将来往往没法开口,成为“哑巴英语”。所以在小学这个英语学习的启蒙阶段,教师应该抓实音标教学,让每一个学生都能讲一口地道流利的英语。
