A lady and her husband stepped off the train in Boston,and walked timidly without an appointment，into the Harvard University President’s outer office.The Secretary could tell in a moment that such country hicks had no business at Harvard.She frowned as the man said softly,“We want to see the President.”“He’ll be busy all day,” the Secretary snapped.“We’ll wait,” the lady replied.For hours, the Secretary ignored them,hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away.They didn’t;and the Secretary grew frustratedand finally decided to disturb the President.“Maybe if they just see you for a few minutes, they’ll leave,” she told him.He sighed and nodded.Someone of his importance obviously didn’t have the time to spend with them.The President, stern-faced with dignity,strutted toward the couple.The lady told him,“We had a son who attended Harvard for one year.He loved Harvard.He was happy here.But about a year ago,he was accidentally killed.And my husband and I would like to erect a
memorial to him,somewhere on campus.”The President wasn’t touched,and she was shocked,“Madam,” he said gruffly.“We can’t put up a statue for every personwho attended Harvard and died.If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.”“Oh, no,” the lady explained quickly.“We don’t want to erect a statue.We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.” The president rolled his eyes.He exclaimed,“A building,do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs?We have over seven and a half million dollarsin the physical plant at Harvard.”For a moment the lady was silent.The president was pleased.He could get rid of them now.And the lady turned to her husband and said quietly,“Is that all it costs to start a University?Why don’t we just start our own?”Her husband nodded.The President’s face wilted in confusion and bewilderment.And Mr.and Mrs.Leland Stanford walked away;traveling to Palo Alto, California,where they established the university that bears their name,a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.You can easily judge the character of othersby how they treat those who can do nothing for them or to them.

第三篇：智慧背囊
《智慧背囊》读后感
《智慧背囊》是一部充满智慧与哲理的书.每读一篇文字都会让你感动,令你鼓舞.象阳光拂过心田，如春雨滋润心灵。下面我与大家分享其中的两个短篇。
一《移石》
《移石》讲的是一个梦。一群人在路上走着，他们要去一个神圣的地方。突然前面一块巨石挡住了去路。面对巨石，长者说:搬掉它！壮者说：推开它！一群人用手，用肩，用整个身体推着巨石．然而巨石仿佛生了根．有人长叹一声“归去来兮！”走了．有人跪在树下祈求“夸娥氏二子，快来帮我们把巨石搬走吧！”“哪里有什么夸娥氏，我们只能靠自己！”长者说。“是的，我们只能靠自己！”壮者说着举起手里的木棒，对大家说“我想出一个办法，用木棒支在石头下面，借它的力量把石头移开。”结果，在他们的木棒下，石头移开了。
他们要去的神圣地方，我理解就是我们的生活。梦就是我们要去的理想。在实现理想的过程中，我们会遇到重重困难——那块巨石。面对困难，有人退缩了，有人去乞求别人。但最终战胜困难移开石头的是我们自己。求人不如求己。那块大石头也可以理解成我们自己。生活中，我们遇到的最大困难就是战胜我们自己。
二 《方向》
有两只蚂蚁想翻越前面一段墙，去寻找墙那边的食物。这段墙长有20来米，高有近百米。其中一只蚂蚁来到墙角就毫不犹豫向上爬去，可是它每爬到大半时，就会由于劳累疲倦等原因而跌落下来。可
是它不会气馁，它相信只要付出就会有回报。一次次跌下来，又一次次重新爬上去。而另一只蚂蚁，观察了一下，决定绕过这段墙去。很快，这只蚂蚁绕过墙，来到食物面前，开始享用起来。而那只坚定、勇敢的蚂蚁还在不停地跌落下去又重新开始。读了这个故事，我佩服第一只蚂蚁的勇敢、坚定、百折不挠、契而不舍．更叹服第二只蚂蚁的聪明、智慧、少走弯路。这使我想到现在的教育：千军万马参加中考高考。我们的孩子一上学，就开始翻越那面高墙。而为人师为人父母的我们，又在不断鼓励孩子“有志者事竟成！”“坚持就是胜利！”
虽然我们知道成功的路不只一条，但我们似乎更相信读书成才这条路才最光明、最有前途、最幸福、最令人羡慕。我们不顾孩子的兴趣、爱好不断地给他们加码„„能走上百家讲坛，做一个儒雅有风度的文化人士成功。难道你能说遍地开花的肯德基、麦当劳就不是成功吗！别抱怨你的孩子贪玩，不用功，不是读书 这块料，别再难为孩子，也别煎熬你自己。你唯一能做的是帮助他选准方向。
这套书中，象这样开启人生智慧，为你指点迷津的文章很多，每读一篇，都会让你有一种豁然开朗的感觉。
阅读是一种智慧，可以给灵魂洗个澡，可以给心灵洒点光，可以给思想透透亮，可以给精神放放假„„
当然，供我们阅读的，不仅是书，还有滋润的雨，轻柔的风，金色的阳光„„真的，在我们紧张的工作中，别忘了阅读，给我们的精神放放假，同时也别忘了欣赏窗外或身边的风景。
第四篇：智慧背囊
《智慧背囊》读后感
在快乐、美好的暑假里，我认识了一位“好朋友”——《智慧背囊》。它蕴含人生的智慧，凝结生活的哲理，满载成功的方法，让我受益终身！
高尔基说过：“书是人类进步的阶梯”。仔细品味，这本书语言活泼、插图清晰易懂、题目思维活跃。让我们一看就会，一会就能运用。《智慧背囊》仿佛是一把金钥匙，为我开启成功的大门，又如是一个扫把，为我清理道路坎坷，使我让一颗迷茫的心灵去触摸未知的人生，去感受多姿多彩的大千世界！

第五篇：智慧背囊
千年后有人请你喝茶
小草弱不禁风，尚能生存；昙花一现，也要努力给世界掘出一份美丽。何况上帝还给了我们智慧。人生于世，就应该挖掘自己的潜能，开辟出自己生命的绿洲，活出别样的美丽。重要的不是大自然赐予了我们什么，而是你为人类创造了什么！
