小升初英语单词构词法秘密

在单词教学时,教师可从字母组合、字母组合、辅音连缀、音节划分、句子朗读等方面,增强单词语音的准确性和趣味性。针对小学生活泼好动的特点,利用与音素相关的歌谣、歌曲、谜语、绕口令等,让学生在有趣有活动中巩固所学音标和读音规则,为掌握好单词打好基础,如:在教单词读音时,可利用相近的单词语音(park-mark-dark-lark,dear-pear-bear-near)进行朗读训练,提高学生自读单词的能力, 通过这样的教学,能够使学生轻松地掌握许多新词,不断地扩大词汇量。以下是笔者在单词教学中拓展词汇量的一些做法,与大家一起分享。
一、利用旧词组合,打开增加词汇量的大门
词组是构成句子的成分,学好词组是相当重要的,许多旧单词组合在一起,会产生新的词义,利用旧单词的组合来记忆新词组也是增加词汇量的一个好方法。例一:教学
“afternoon”这个词时,我把它分成“after(在„„以后)”和“noon(中午)”,学生明确了after的意思后,就能理解:after class(在课后),after school(在放学后)。例二:教学“today”时,让学生理解“day”的意思是“天”,他们能推理出 all day(整天)、one day(有一天)。例三:教学“take off(脱下)”时,明确take有“拿、花”的意思:take the book to the classroom(把书拿到教室),take time(花时间),这样的例子数不胜数:on foot(步行),right now(立刻),the Great Wall(长城),be good at(善于),family name(姓)等等。
二、利用构词方法,揭开英语单词内部的秘密
记得曾经有位学生在作文中写到:“英语都是由26个字母组成的,翻来覆去,随意组合,显得枯燥而无聊。”其实在英语中,这26个字母并不是没有规律的随意组合而是有着相应的规律,如果学生了解了单词内部隐藏的秘密,他们不但会很快就记住单词的拼读和拼写,而且能大大增加学习兴趣、增强学习信心。
1.英语构词法之一:复合法
利用复合法构成的单词,是由两个各自本身有意思的词,组合在一起,拥有一个新的意思。例如:classmate(同班同学)= class(班级)+mate(同伴)类似的单词还有许多,根据这个方法可以让自学单词:
同事 workmate校友 schoolmate同桌 deskmate
复合词在英语中占有很大的比例,能否正确地对待他们会影响词汇学习的效果,教师要抓住机会,提高其使用价值。例一:分解复合词:watermelon(西瓜)中的water(水、浇水)和melon(西瓜),strawberry(草莓)中的straw(稻草、麦杆)和berry浆果,birthday中的birth(出生)和day日子,playground中的play(玩)和ground(地面),pineapple,keyboard,blackboard,raincoat等等。例二:组成复合词:由policeman组成 postman / policewoman,由classmate 组成workmate schoolmate / deskmate,由anything组成something / nothing,由bedroom组成meeting room / sitting room / reading room,由 home和work组成homework(家作),由house和 work组成housework(家务)等等。复合词进行拆分可以得到更多的词汇,而且都是非常相近,便于记忆,学生的词汇量大大增加。以下复合词可供大家参考:

2.英语构词法之二:派生法
形象地说“派生法”就是从一个单词引申出另外一个新词。学生也会发现许多单词加一些词缀就成了另一个词,什么叫词缀呢?大家先来看一个例子:beautiful(美丽的)----beautifully(美丽地)在beautiful的后面加-ly,就变成了副词。象“-ly”这样的东西,叫做词缀。同学们一定要注意词缀是不能单独作单词的。小学生教师应在平时的教学中,注重学习方法的培养,对词汇的学习和记忆来说,从整体上把握词汇不但能增加词汇量,而且能使学生较好掌握构词方式,为初中的词汇学习打下扎实的基础。例一:小学英语中有
work(工作)和worker(工人),让学生明白“-er”表示干某事的人,引进例①teacher(教师)teach(教书),②clean(打扫)cleaner(打扫的人)③play(玩、表演)player(选手),driver(司机)去“r”drive(开车),write(写)加“r”writer作家。
小学期间的派生词为数较多:
1.–er 表示“人”、“容器、器具”:

8.–ing 表示名词:

3.英语构词法之三:转化法
转化法,顾名思义,就是把单词的一种词性转化成另一种词性。这样的单词在英语里有许多许多。因为单词本身的组成没有改变,只是词性进行改变,记忆起来更加容易。英语里有大量的多义词,教师可以充分利用这些词来增加词汇量,例一:小学英语里所学的may是“可以”的意思,我给学生增加了两个意思:May当m大写时:①五月 ②人名:梅。例二:小学英语里所学有关颜色的词green、black、brown表示绿色、黑色、棕色,当首字母大写时还表示人的姓:Green格林、Black布莱克、Brown布朗,这样的例子还有很多:light(灯、浅色、轻的),bank(银行、河岸),letter(信、字母),break(休息、打破)等。小学期间的转化词为归类如下:

虽然小学阶段所学单词不多,但是英语单词往往有许多开发的潜力,如果教师能正确利用所学单词,通过各种有效的方法,不仅能增加学生的词汇量, 而且能提高学生自学词汇的能力,使今后的英语学习更容
