目前，北京的小升初考试越来越多元化，有的学校比较倾向数学成绩，有的比较倾向英语能力，并且在小升初面试时还会划分好几个方面，用来考察考生的综合能力是否能够达到目标学校的标准。在这期间，考生的英语口语备受重视。
据我所知，现在口语考试在面试环节中分为几个层次，首先当孩子坐在教师中间，后排都是家长时，孩子肯定会非常紧张，这是检验孩子的心理素质。这时考官可能会从简单的问题问起，其中很可能包含三一口语三级的内容，之后老师会更递进的问一些问题，比如：你曾经出过国吗？他可能问你这些问题，可能没有出过国，就会问你在中国去过哪些地方，你感觉他怎么样，接着就会问学生们的观点，这些就是一个逐渐变难的讯号了。
这些问题问完后，紧接着就会问一些对应三一口语五级、七级的内容，据我所知，曾经有一年小升初，北京一所重点中学在面试时问了学生一个问题：你认为学生是不是应该穿校服去上学，你认为这个是好主意还是不好的呢？很明显，考生如果说不穿校服是一个好主意，可能就会导致与我们现在的事实不相符；但若说是不好的主意，其实也不行，因为我们都知道，校服扼杀了孩子们自然美，尤其是处在花季少年的这些孩子们，所以这个问题就需要辩证地去回答，解释清楚穿校服的优势与弊端。
举个例子，有的老师可能在考试时会这样问，你认为中国目前的教育形式是好的还是不好的？为什么？这就是一个需要辩证分析的问题，把优势与劣势铺叙清楚，辩证地论述，然后总结。这种论述的过程，不仅考察考生把握大局的能力还有他的逻辑思维能力。
