摘要:英语书面表达是初中英语教学的重点和难点。本人对所任教九年级学生的英语书面表达能力现状进行了简单分析,对如何提高初中生的英语书面表达能力进行了教学实践,认为教师在教学过程中要持之以恒对学生进行大量的教学指导训练,注重学生平时的单词拼写与组句能力,提醒学生积累常用表达方式,要求阅读背诵精彩段落,同时教师要利用教材话题资源,结合多种训练与评价方式,提升学生思维能力,强化写作专项指导,使学生养成英语书面表达的习惯,最终达到英语作为语言交际的目的。

听说读写是构成英语语言交际能力的重要组成部分,其中要求较高的是“写”的能力。《英语课程标准》对九年级学生“写”的技能提出了明确目标,具体描述如下:1、能根据写作要求,收集,准备素材;2、能独立起草短文、短信等,并在教师的指导下进行修改;3、能使用常见的连接词表示顺序和逻辑关系;4、能简单描述人物或事件;5、能根据所给图示或表格写出简单的段落或操作说明。2008年英语中考题型中将增加小作文(5分),即书面表达由原来的15分提高到了20分,可见书面表达的比重增加了。但在平时的教学实践中,总觉得要提高学生书面表达能力绝非易事,需花费大量的时间与精力,当然更需要一定的技巧与策略。本学年我校承担了国家级课题的子课题《基于母语环境的任务型英语教学实施与课程资源整合研究》,我们九年级的课题组成员选择了“提高九年级学生书面表达能力”作为研究目标,希望通过努力,能总结出一些较为系统的行之有效的教学方法,提高学生的书面表达能力。
一、学生英语书面表达能力现状分析
随着新课改的深入实施与Go for it新教材的全面使用,教师和学生对书面表达的重视程度逐渐提高,但还常把书面表达安排在课外,作为练习一带而过,或者布置为家庭作业,导致学生书面表达的质量欠佳。在我所任教的班级,学生在书面表达中下普遍存在下列问题:
1、中式英语Chinglish :如There are many people would like to go on a vacation.I by bike to school every day.2、词汇错误:错别字、近义词混淆、词性用错等。
3、词组、句型使用不正确,缺乏重点句型的使用:如I spent one hour to read the book yesterday.4、时态、语态、人称把握不正确(审题不正确)。
5、字数不符要求:文章太短(较差的学生“凑”不足词数),文章太长(较好的学生随意发挥但不着边际、结构松散)。
6、数的问题:如不注意名词的单复数与不可数,第三人称单数等。
7、格式、大小写、标点不规范:句首字母大写不注意,使用从句时不会使用标点、大小写等)。如:After he went back home.He cooked supper.8、缺乏表达个人见解与悟感的能力:如写文章只有叙事部分,记流水帐,缺少个人观点与情感。
二、英语书面表达教学的策略
为改善学生书面表达的现状,提高书面表达能力,我采用了以下教学策略:
1、巩固单词拼写,培养组句能力。
词汇匮乏是妨碍英语写作的最大障碍之一,有话想说,无词可写是大部分学生的苦恼。因此,我要求学生坚持每天听写、默写、循环记忆单词,掌握巩固词汇。还要求学生给出与单词有关的同义、近义、反义和词形相似的词,使词汇量得到最大限度的复现。如:反义词appear/disappear, crowded/uncrowded, polite/impolite/rude.词形相似的词except/expect, chance/change/challenge.还以某一词为中心,写出该词的不同形式或词性,组成典型的句型,从而不断丰富词汇和句型。如拼写单词die时,不但要写出其过去式过去分词died,而且要写出其他词性(death, dead, dying), 再分别组句,如:The old man died two years ago.He has been dead for two years.His death made his dog very sad.It is dying.又如写到易混淆的词pay, spend, cost, take时,可以多种方式表达句意。He paid 20 yuan for the book.He spent 20 yuan on the book.He spent 20 yuan buying the book.The book cost him 20 yuan.It takes him 20 minutes to read the book every day.等等。这样,通过大量的词汇练习不仅仅能有效地积累词汇,还为组句打下了基础,同时还能训练学生的发散性思维和总结、归纳、比较的能力,为学生正确使用词句奠定了良好的基础。
以上这些机械操练虽然枯燥,但很有必要,它是能力培养的基础。在词句落实的基础上,可向学生提出稍高的要求,如写出高质量的句子:

The story is so interesting that everyone likes it.(The story is very interesting.Everyone likes it.)
He didn’t come to school, because he was ill.(He was ill.He didn’t come to school.)I am good at not only English but also math.(I am good at English and I am good at math,too.)
2、阅读背诵精彩段落,围绕单元话题设计书面表达。
阅读是写作的基础,阅读能力越强,驾驭语言的能力也就越强。所以在阅读背诵方面下功夫很有必要,因为教科书中的文章都是一些很好的范文,文笔流畅,语言规范,精彩的一些课文段落要求学生背诵,如每个单元Section A/B中的3a部分。同时组织学生进行大量课外阅读。本学期我特意选择了一本课外阅读材料,要求学生课外阅读,记住一些精彩句子、名言警句,学习合理的篇章结构,为语言的输出积累丰富的资料。
除背诵阅读外,还要充分利用教材资源作为学生书面表达的话题材料。Go for it 新教材每个单元围绕一个话题(Topic)展开,每个话题都有一定的功能(Function)。如:九年级教材中含有learning how to learn(Unit1), how we have changed(Unit2), rules(Unit3), vacations(Unit7), volunteering(Unit8), customs(Unit12)等话题,我们可以围绕这些话题,运用本单元的重点句型,训练学生的书面表达。
针对Unit1中的话题,可以设计“介绍学习(英语)的方法” 之类的书面表达作业。
针对Unit2中的话题,可以设计“谈谈你自己/某个朋友/家乡/学校的变化”之类的书面表达作业。
针对Unit3中的话题,可以设计“制定班规/校规/家规” 之类的书面表达作业。
针对Unit8中的话题,可以设计“为2008年奥运会/家乡/学校/社区/班级做一些有意义的事”作为作业。
这样,既能巩固单元重点,又能学以致用,促使学生有意识地记忆典型语句,有选择性有创造性地应用于今后的书面表达之中,提高书面表达的质量。
3、结合限时与非限时训练,师生共同评价相结合方法,提升学生思维能力。
限时训练与非限时训练相结合:一般的书面表达作业常被布置在课外完成,学生的思维较为懒散,常依赖于查阅教材内容或课外参考范文,已学的词汇与句型结构没有通过学生的内化而被生吞活剥地使用,导致完全属于学生自己写出来的句子偏少,完成书面表达的时间延长,效率低下。本学期,我采用了限时训练与非限时训练相结合的方法,特别注重限时训练,让学生在规定的时间内在统一印发的书面表达训练专用纸上完成,学生有一种时间上的紧迫感,“逼”着自己积极思维,把孤立琐碎的一些素材进行组织、整理,使其条理化、系统化,再仔细推敲,快速周密组织语言文字,落笔成文。教师评价与学生互评相结合:学生的书面表达可让同伴批阅评价,批阅者对有疑问的地方作上记号,待互相讨论取得一致意见后再更正。这样能使学生以批评的眼光审阅自己的作品,增强写作动力,逐渐树立写作的信心,同时也发展了学生的分析思维能力。若遇到有争议的问题,可请教老师。有时,我会选择好、中、差三个不同档次的书面表达,进行示范点评,还把优秀的学生作品作为范文由学生本人在全班同学面前朗诵,并张贴在教室的展示区,供其他学生学习欣赏。
4、积累常用的表达方式,形成正确的表达习惯。
有的表达方式结构固定,出现率高,使用时不需进行多少再加工,有利于学生对其进行整体记忆,使用较为方便。如:
Doing sth.is „.It’s a good way to do sth.If I were you,„.Would you like to „? You are supposed to „.I used to be „.It’s + adj + to do sth.It’s best to do sth„.此外,为了使行文连贯流畅,我要求学生学会使用连接词与过渡语,这样可使句子简洁、明了,句子间的逻辑关系更加密切,使文章条理性更强,层次更加分明,从而达到更好的表达效果, 常用的过渡用语有:
表并列或递进: and, both„and, neither„nor, not only„but also, as well, as well as, besides, what’s more, also 表选择: or, either„or.表转折或让步: but, although, though, yet, however, no matter„, after all.表对比:like, unlike, while, compared 表举例:for example, such as„,take „for example, in one’s opinion, in other words.表强调:in fact, of course, first of all, What’s worse 表时间顺序:when, after, before, as soon as, soon after, since then, then, later, next, at last, first, secondly, thirdly, finally,at the same time.表因果关系: because, since, as, for, for this reason, because of this, therefore, so, so„that„.发表结论:in a word, in short, to tell the truth, It shows that„, It’s quite clear that„, It’s known to all that„, as everybody knows,„
表比较和对照:just as, in the same way, instead, 表空间:on one’s right/ left, across from, on top of, in front of, close/next to, opposite,between„and„
5、强化书面表达专题指导,养成英语写作习惯。
针对学生书面表达中普遍存在的格式、标点不规范等情况,我以前基本采用批阅时纠正、学生订正的方式,这样做劳动量太大且收效甚微。本学期我特意花了几节课时间进行书面表达专题理论指导,印发了一些系统的专题理论资料,如:“常见英语书面表达规范格式”和“写作注意‘四定’”(定内容, 定时态,定人称,定词句),通过理论学习与实际分析相结合,学生在理论上已基本明白什么是规范的书面表达,即给了学生一个较为系统的参照标准。半学期来,此类错误呈整体下降趋势。虽然在实践中仍然免不了有学生再次犯错,但我在批阅时只需将错误的标点或格式圈出,学生自己便能订正,而无需再反复解释强调。学生对自己在书面表达上的优缺点有了更准确的把握,自信也随之增强,大部分学生已过了害怕书面表达这一心理关,部分学生还开始喜欢用英语写周记,反映班级情况和自己在生活、学习上的得失,抒发自己进步时的喜悦,表达
自己成绩不理想时的失落„„我也乐此不彼地分享着他们的思想与心情,还适时地用英语回复评价。

My Dream
