About School of Mechanical Engineering in Xi’an Jiaotong University

Submitted by root on Fri, 12/31/2010-10:31 School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest majors of Xi’anJiaotong University.It was restructured(改组)and developed from the original Mechanical Engineering Department and Mechanology(机械学)Department ,and was formally(正式的)built up after the reshuffling of schools and departments in June,1994.In the school,there are 3 first class subjects authorized(授权)to offer 6 doctoral programs and 7 master’s degree programs.The school has also a State Key Laboratory of Manufacturing System and a Post-doctoral(博士后)Research Station of Mechanical Engineering which is among the first established post-doctoral research stations in China.At present,the school has about 200 teaching and administrative(行政)staff members ,including 60 professors,3 chief committee men of the State Teaching Instruction Committee for Basic Courses and 10 committee members of the State Instruction Committee for Specialty Basic Courses.The school is composed of 4 departments,3 teaching offices of basic courses,2 experiment centers, 12 research institutes(学院)and 1 training center.Over the past five years,5 state-level and 47 province-and ministry-level awards for teaching and research fruits have been obtained by the school.At present,the fund(基金)or outlay(经费)on scientific research has reached up to 10 million a year.The school has rich scientific research and intellectual(知识分子)resources ,and has formed its own characteristics in such scientific fields as RP&M, intelligent instrument(智能仪器)and monitoring inspection(自动检测),NC technology(数控技术),laser(激光)and infrared(红外)application ,vibration and noise control ,new materials preparation and surface engineering.Some research work has enjoyed high reputation at home and abroad.In the resent years ,with the development of electronic and information technology,computer science and laser machining ,the school has obtained remarkable scientific research achievements in RP technology, mechatronics and control technology, computer emulation and numerical analogue in solidification of metals.Especially the research on advanced manufacturing technology featuring rapid prototyping and manufacturing rose high abruptly above others ,taking a leading position in this field of the country.In addition, the newly established specialty-Industrial Design is posturing a completely new image to emulate the advanced domestic and international levels.The school has established comprehensive system for the fostering ,education and management of graduates.At present ,there are 200 master degree candidates and the same number of PhD candidates in the school.Being one of the earliest units to carry out the enrolling and fostering of masters of engineering ,the school can provide the program for masters of engineering in mechanical engineering and material science.Since 1998 the enrolled students pursuing master of engineering have reached 240.In undergraduate education, the school places emphasis on practice and innovation, aiming at fostering students with solid theoretical foundation and plentiful expertise as well as strong ability to analyze and solve practical engineering problems.The goal of the school is to nurture all-round and universal trans-century talents.The leading group of the school adheres to the following principle: Unite earnestly and sincerely, Perform one’s duty honestly, Aspire to make innovation, and Get over difficulties to forge ahead!We earnestly hope to conduct close cooperation and extensive academic exchange with our peers, enterprises and research institutes from home and abroad so as to make great contributions to the vitalization o machinery science.

About No.1 Middle School Of Xinyu Our school was founded in 1943,enjoying high reputation for its good school spirit, studying atmosphere, well-qualified teachers and high teaching quality.With its long history and colorful cultures, advanced education management ideas, and the remarkable teaching achievements, it has been highly thought of by the community, parents and students.Our school is the “excellent key middle school” in Jiangxi province won nearly 100 national and provincial honors--“ China's top 100 middle school” and “the National Olympic competition training base for middle school students ” are among them.In 2010 and 2011 for two years, we were successfully qualified into the“ Peking University middle school principal recommendation system”.The newly-built school occupies a total area of 200,000 square meters with a building area of 120,000 square meters.Every building has its own function, and the schoolyard is well designed, in which our students enjoy a green, elegant and agreeable studying environment.Four teaching buildings, two laboratory buildings with standard apparatus , the lecture hall, and the school library（which has a total collection of over 120,000 books.）as well as the music hall are scientifically connected to each other, with the dining hall and the student dormitories separately laid out.All the classrooms are equipped with advanced teaching facilities.Multimedia teaching equipment, cable TVs, and radios are also available.Besides,8 multi-media computer labs,3 multi-functional teaching rooms , an electronic reading room ,a TV studio and a language lab are functioning well in teaching activities.Sports facilities include an athletics track ring 400 meters, surrounded by bleachers that can accommodate more than 5000 people.We have a

The story is divided into three phases of Pip's life expectations.The first

“expectation” is allotted 19 chapters, and the other two 20 chapters each in the 59-chapter work.In some editions, the chapter numbering reverts to Chapter One in each expectation, but the original publication and most modern editions number the chapters consecutively from one to 59.At the end of chapters 19 and 39, readers are formally notified that they have reached the conclusion of a phase of Pip's expectations.In the first expectation, Pip lives a humble existence with his ill-tempered older sister and her strong but gentle husband, Joe Gargery.Pip is satisfied with this life and his warm friends until he is hired by an embittered wealthy woman, Miss Havisham, as an occasional companion to her and her beautiful but haughty adopted daughter, Estella.From that time on, Pip aspires to leave behind his simple life and be a gentleman.After years as companion to Miss Havisham and Estella, he spends more years as an apprentice to Joe, so that he may grow up to have a livelihood working as a blacksmith.This life is suddenly turned upside down when he is visited by a London attorney, Mr.Jaggers, who informs Pip that he is to come into the “Great Expectation” of a handsome property and be trained to be a gentleman at the behest of an anonymous benefactor.The second stage of Pip's expectations has Pip in London, learning the details of being a gentlemen, having tutors, fine clothing, and joining cultured society.Whereas he always engaged in honest labour when he was younger, he now is supported by a generous allowance, which he frequently lives beyond.He learns to fit in this new milieu, and experiences not only friendship but rivalry as he finds himself in the same circles as Estella, who is also pursued by many other men, especially Bentley Drummle, whom she favours.As he adopts the physical and cultural norms of his new status, he also adopts the class attitudes that go with it, and when Joe comes to visit Pip and his friend and roommate Herbert to deliver an important message, Pip is embarrassed to the point of hostility by Joe's unlearned ways, despite his protestations of love and friendship for Joe.At the end of this stage, Pip is introduced to his benefactor, again changing his world.The third and last stage of Pip's expectations alters Pip's life from the artificially supported world of his upper class strivings and introduces him to realities that he realizes he must deal with, facing moral, physical and financial challenges.He learns startling truths that cast into doubt the values that he once embraced so eagerly, and finds that he cannot regain many of the important things that he had cast aside so carelessly.The current ending of the story is different from Dickens's original intent, in which the ending matched the gloomy reverses to Pip's fortunes that typify the last expectation.Dickens was

prevailed upon to change the ending to one more acceptable to his readers'

tastes in that era, and this “new” ending was the published one and currently accepted as definitive.Dickens has Pip as the writer and first person narrator of this account of his life's experiences, and the entire story is understood to have been written as a retrospective, rather than as a present tense narrative or a diary or journal.Still, though Pip “knows” how all the events in the story will turn out, he uses only very subtle foreshadowing so that we learn of events only when the Pip in the story does.Pip does, however, use the perspective of the bitter lessons he's learned to comment acidly on various actions and attitudes in his earlier life.
