中国旅美科协协会欢迎胡主席访美
中国国家主席胡锦涛于2008年11月14日至16日来到美国首都华盛顿特区参加20国集团领导人金融市场和世界经济峰会。胡主席的来访得到了广大侨团的热烈欢迎,尽管华盛顿的天气是多雨、寒冷,但许多侨团在胡主席下榻的宾馆附近载歌载舞、敲锣打鼓,热情欢迎胡主席的来访。中国旅美科协华盛顿分会及网络学会、纽约分会、匹兹堡分会等参加了这次的欢迎活动。
11月15日早七点多,中国旅美科协华盛顿分会及网络学会的几十位会员,冒着蒙蒙细雨来到了胡主席下榻宾馆的附近欢迎胡主席的来访。
中午十二点多,由中国旅美科协匹兹堡分会会长汪洋博士所带领的40余人的匹兹堡分会代表团分成两辆汽车,经过将近5个小时的路程来到了欢迎现场。下午一点多,从远道而来的由中国旅美科协纽约分会的方彤博士所带领的89人的纽约分会代表团乘坐两辆大巴士,经过4个多小时的奔波,来到了欢迎现场。与当地的分会会员一起,一百四十多名旅美科协代表团的成员聚集美国首都华盛顿特区欢迎胡主席的来访,场面感人!

人们的兴奋随着车队的经过而达到高潮。当人们看到胡主席在车内向欢迎人群招手时,人群中爆发出欢呼声。

这里有一个来自纽约分会的故事,下面这位老人已经七十多岁,不大能够行走了,但是听说旅美科协纽约分会要组织欢迎胡主席的活动,她坚持要参加。在Rider University做教授的女儿王敏民博士为了老人的安全专门准备了轮椅。老人兴奋了好几天,她说就是只能看见胡主席的车也高兴。她平时早上九点多钟才能起床,但15日一早,为了赶去华盛顿的巴士,她不到七点就起床了。她看到了胡主席从车窗向外招手,心情非常激动。王博士的女儿刚刚从哈佛毕业到华盛顿特区工作,也专程前来参加我们的欢迎活动。
特别令人尊敬参加欢迎活动的老人
欢迎活动一直持续到了晚上6点多钟,旅美科协的会员们才依依不舍地乘车离开华盛顿特区。
16日,旅美科协部分代表受邀与其他一百多位侨界、学界代表在中国驻美新使馆参加欢送胡主席的活动。胡主席与每位代表逐一握手、逐一问候。胡主席对大家的欢迎表示感谢。

奥巴马总统:各位早上好。尊敬的胡锦涛主席,尊敬的各位中国代表团成员,我谨代表米歇尔和我本人欢迎各位来到白宫。同时我代表美国人民,欢迎各位来到美国。
三十年前,也是在寒冷的一月,另一位美国总统卡特站在这里,欢迎中国领导人邓小平的到来。那次会面是一个历史性的突破,美中实现了两国邦交正常化。就在那一天,邓小平谈到了美中两国之间相互合作的巨大可能。
此刻回顾1979年的那个冬日,我们已然明了。在那之前的30年,美中两国隔阂疏远。而自那以来的30年,两国不断增进交流与理解。此次胡锦涛主席访美之行则是我们双方为未来三十年奠定基础的契机。
在美中合作的裨益遭到质疑之际,这次会面也是一个很好的机会,可以展示一个简单的道理。我们双方都从彼此的成功中获益良多。在一个相互联系的世界,在经济全球化的时代,包括美中两国在内的世界各国会因彼此合作而更加繁荣、安全。
美国欢迎中国崛起,成为国际社会强大、繁荣、成功的一员。事实上,中国的成功为中美两国人民带来了巨大的经济利益,中美两国在一系列问题上的合作有助于维护亚太地区乃至全球的和平稳定。
我们也都知道:历史表明,当所有国家、所有人民的权利得以保障、义务得以履行,当每个人的普遍权利得到维护,社会将更加和谐,国家更加成功,世界更加公正。

很高兴应奥巴马总统邀请,在一元复始的时节来到华盛顿,对美国进行国事访问。此时此刻,我谨代表13亿中国人民,向美国人民致以诚挚的问候和良好的祝愿!
我这次访问美国,是为增进互信、加强友谊、深化合作、推动21世纪积极合作全面的中美关系继续向前发展而来。
中美建交32年来,两国关系已经成长为具有战略意义和全球影响的双边关系。奥巴马总统就职以来,在双方共同努力下,两国各领域合作成果丰硕,中美关系得到新的发展,为两国人民带来了实实在在的利益,为世界和平与发展作出了重要贡献。
